  • Can a WPF base class contain a control for a derived class?

    - by Number8
Hello, I have several UserControls that have some of the same controls doing the same job. Is it possible to extract those controls into a base class? When I have tried it, I get an error that the definition in the generated .g.cs file will hide the parent def. What I would like to do: public class ctlBase : UserControl { internal CheckBox chkBox { get; set; } } In the .xaml of the derived class: <Grid> <CheckBox x:Name="chkBox" /> </Grid> public class DerivedCtl : ctlBase { } Thanks for any insights...

  • Constructor/Destructor involving a class and a struct

    - by Bogdan Maier
I am working on a program and need to make an array of objects, specifically I have a 31x1 array where each position is an object, (each object is basically built out of 6 ints). Here is what I have but something is wrong and i could use some help thank you. 31x1 struct header" const int days=31; struct Arr{ int days; int *M; }; typedef Arr* Array; 31x1 matrix constructor: void constr(){ int *M; M = new Expe[31]; // Expe is the class class header: class Expe { private: //0-HouseKeeping, 1-Food, 2-Transport, 3-Clothing, 4-TelNet, 5-others int *obj; } Class object constructor: Expe::Expe() { this->obj=new int[6]; } help please... because i`m pretty lost.

  • perl regular expressions substitution/replacement using variables with special characters

    - by user961627
Okay I've checked previous similar questions and I've been juggling with different variations of quotemeta but something's still not right. I have a line with a word ID and two words - the first is the wrong word, the second is right. And I'm using a regex to replace the wrong word with the right one. $line = "ANN20021015_0104_XML_16_21 A$xAS A$xASA"; @splits = split("\t",$line); $wrong_word = quotemeta $splits[1]; $right_word = quotemeta $splits[2]; print $right_word."\n"; print $wrong_word."\n"; $line =~ s/$wrong_word\t/$right_word\t/g; print $line; What's wrong with what I'm doing? Edit The problem is that I'm unable to retain the complete words - they get chopped off at the special characters. This code works perfectly fine for words without special characters. The output I need for the above example is: ANN20021015_0104_XML_16_21 A$xASA A$xASA But what I get is ANN20021015_0104_XML_16_21 A A Because of the $ character.

  • How to I reference a pointer from a different class

    - by Justagruvn
Hey team of awesomeness!, (Iphone Objective-C question) First off, I despise singletons with a passion. Though I should probably be trying to use one, I just dont want to. I want to create a data class (that is instantiated only once by a view controller on loading), and then using a different class, message the crap out of that data instance until it is brimming with so much data, it smiles. So, how do i do that? I made a pointer to the instance of the data class when I instantiated it. I'm now over in a separate view controller, action occurs, and I want to update the initial data object. I think I need to reference that object by way of pointer, but I have no idea how to do that. yes I've set properties and getters and setters, which seem to work, but only in the initial view controller class. Peace Love applesauce.

  • Bad class file error when using Scala 2.8.0-rc1 in Javafx 1.2

    - by aoprisan
When trying to import scala.Option in a javafx script, I get the following javafxc error: bad class file: scala/Option$$anonfun$orNull$1.class(scala:Option$$anonfun$orNull$1.class) undeclared type variable: A1 Please remove or make sure it appears in the correct subdirectory of the classpath. import scala.Option; ^ I am using Scala 2.8.0-RC1, Javafxc 1.2.3_b36, JVM 1.6.0_18-b07, OS Ubuntu 9.10. The same code was working in Scala 2.7.7 .

  • C# XOR on two byte variables will not compile without a cast

    - by Ash
    Why does the following raise a compile time error: 'Cannot implicitly convert type 'int' to 'byte': byte a = 25; byte b = 60; byte c = a ^ b; This would make sense if I were using an arithmentic operator because the result of a + b could be larger than can be stored in a single byte. However applying this to the XOR operator is pointless. XOR here it a bitwise operation that can never overflow a byte. using a cast around both operands works: byte c = (byte)(a ^ b);

  • Batch Create Java Class Stubs

    - by user344639
Given a list of potential class names: 1. Alaska . . . 50. Wyoming Is there a tool that will create empty java class files for each with supplied parameters? I'm thinking of something like the "New...Class" dialog in Eclipse, only on steriods. :-) Thanks in advance, Kyle

  • Initializing static pointer in templated class.

    - by Anthony
This is difficult for me to formulate in a Google query (at least one that gives me what I'm looking for) so I've had some trouble finding an answer. I'm sure I'm not the first to ask though. Consider a class like so: template < class T > class MyClass { private: static T staticObject; static T * staticPointerObject; }; ... template < class T > T MyClass<T>::staticObject; // <-- works ... template < class T > T * MyClass<T>::staticPointerObject = NULL; // <-- cannot find symbol staticPointerObject. I am having trouble figuring out why I cannot successfully create that pointer object. Edit: The above code is all specified in the header, and the issue I mentioned is an error in the link step, so it is not finding the specific symbol.

  • AJAX: Problems returning multiple variables

    - by fwaokda
    First off sorry if I'm missing something simple just started working with AJAX today. I have an issue where I'm trying to get information from my database, but different records have different amounts of values. For instance, each record has a "features" column. In the features column I store a string. (ex: Feature1~Feature2~Feature3~Feature4... ) When I'm building the object I take apart the string and store all the features into an array. Some objects can have 1 feature others can have up to whatever. So... how do I return this values back to my ajax function from my php page? Below is my ajax function that I was trying and I'll provide a link with my php file. [ next.php : http://pastebin.com/SY74jV7X ] $("a#next").click(function() { $.ajax({ type : 'POST', url : 'next.php', dataType : 'json', data : { nextID : $("a#next").attr("rel") }, success : function ( data ) { var lastID = $("a#next").attr("rel"); var originID = $("a#next").attr("rev"); if(lastID == 1) { lastID = originID; } else { lastID--; } $("img#spotlight").attr("src",data.spotlightimage); $("div#showcase h1").text(data.title); $("div#showcase h2").text(data.subtitle); $("div#showcase p").text(data.description); $("a#next").attr("rel", lastID); for(var i=0; i < data.size; i++) { $("ul#features").append("<li>").text(data.feature+i).append("</li>"); } /* for(var j=1; j < data.picsize; j++) { $("div.thumbnails ul").append("<li>").text(data.image+j).append("</li>"); } */ }, error : function ( XMLHttpRequest, textStatus, errorThrown) { $("div#showcase h1").text("An error has occured: " + errorThrown); } }); });

  • Scala: getting the name of the class the trait is mixed in

    - by Alexey Romanov
Given an instance of a class, we can obviously return its name: trait MixedInClassDiscovery { val className = this.getClass.getName } class AClass extends MixedInClassDiscovery { ... this.className // returns "AClass" ... } But this way uses reflection, once for every instance of AClass. Can the same be done once for every class, instead? One solution which comes to mind is to mix it into companion objects instead of classes themselves.

  • how to save class object in registry?

    - by younevertell
Basically I have some class objects, each with three properties. Once one class object is selected in the ComboBox, the corresponding properties shows on three textboxs. I am trying to add one save button. I can change the value of the properties. Once the save button is clicked, all the class ojects with three corresponding properties are saved in the registry. Save setting for later use It seems Registing tryKey.SetValue Method can not save an object directly?

  • class method as hash value

    - by demas
I have this working code: class Server def handle(&block) @block = block end def do @block.call end end class Client def initialize @server = Server.new @server.handle { action } end def action puts "some" end def call_server @server.do end end client = Client.new client.call_server My Server will handle more then one action so I want to change code such way: class Server def handle(options) @block = options[:on_filter] end def do @block.call end end class Client def initialize @server = Server.new my_hash = { :on_filter => action } @server.handle(my_hash) end def action puts "some" end def call_server @server.do end end client = Client.new client.call_server It is incorrect code because action() method calls on create my_hash, but if I try to modify code to: my_hash = { :on_filter => { action } } i get error message. Is it possible to create hash with methods as hash values ?

  • Why is 'virtual' optional for overridden methods in derived classes?

    - by squelart
When a method is declared as virtual in a class, its overrides in derived classes are automatically considered virtual as well, and the C++ language makes this keyword virtual optional in this case: class Base { virtual void f(); }; class Derived : public Base { void f(); // 'virtual' is optional but implied. }; My question is: What is the rationale for making virtual optional? I know that it is not absolutely necessary for the compiler to be told that, but I would think that developers would benefit if such a constraint was enforced by the compiler. E.g., sometimes when I read others' code I wonder if a method is virtual and I have to track down its superclasses to determine that. And some coding standards (Google) make it a 'must' to put the virtual keyword in all subclasses.

  • Understanding the singleton class when aliasing a instance method

    - by Backo
I am using Ruby 1.9.2 and the Ruby on Rails v3.2.2 gem. I am trying to learn Metaprogramming "the right way" and at this time I am aliasing an instance method in the included do ... end block provided by the RoR ActiveSupport::Concern module: module MyModule extend ActiveSupport::Concern included do # Builds the instance method name. my_method_name = build_method_name.to_sym # => :my_method # Defines the :my_method instance method in the including class of MyModule. define_singleton_method(my_method_name) do |*args| # ... end # Aliases the :my_method instance method in the including class of MyModule. singleton_class = class << self; self end singleton_class.send(:alias_method, :my_new_method, my_method_name) end end "Newbiely" speaking, with a search on the Web I came up with the singleton_class = class << self; self end statement and I used that (instead of the class << self ... end block) in order to scope the my_method_name variable, making the aliasing generated dynamically. I would like to understand exactly why and how the singleton_class works in the above code and if there is a better way (maybe, a more maintainable and performant one) to implement the same (aliasing, defining the singleton method and so on), but "the right way" since I think it isn't so.

  • BASH: Checking for environment variables

    - by Hamza
Hi folks, I am trying to check the value of an environment variable and depending on the value do certain things and it works fine as long as the variable is set. When it isn't though I get a whole bunch of errors (as BASH is trying to compare the string I specify with an undefined variable, I guess) I tried implementing an extra check to prevent it happening but no luck. The block of code I am using is: #!/bin/bash if [ -n $TESTVAR ] then if [ $TESTVAR == "x" ] then echo "foo" exit elif [ $TESTVAR == "y" ] then echo "bar" exit else echo "baz" exit fi else echo -e "TESTVAR not set\n" fi And this the output: $ export TESTVAR=x $ ./testenv.sh foo $ export TESTVAR=y $ ./testenv.sh bar $ export TESTVAR=q $ ./testenv.sh baz $ unset TESTVAR $ ./testenv.sh ./testenv.sh: line 5: [: ==: unary operator expected ./testenv.sh: line 9: [: ==: unary operator expected baz My question is, shouldn't 'unset TESTVAR' nullify it? It doesn't seem to be the case... Thanks.

  • Using variables before include()ing them

    - by phenry
I'm using a file, page.php, as an HTML container for several content files; i.e., page.php defines most of the common structure of the page, and the content files just contain the text that's unique to every page. What I would like to do is include some PHP code with each content file that defines metadata for the page such as its title, a banner graphic to use, etc. For example, a content file might look like this (simplified): <?php $page_title="My Title"; ?> <h1>Hello world!</h1> The name of the file would be passed as a URL parameter to page.php, which would look like this: <html> <head> <title><?php echo $page_title; ?></title> </head> <body> <?php include($_GET['page']); ?> </body> </html> The problem with this approach is that the variable gets defined after it is used, which of course won't work. Output buffering also doesn't seem to help. Is there an alternate approach I can use? I'd prefer not to define the text in the content file as a PHP heredoc block, because that smashes the HTML syntax highlighting in my text editor. I also don't want to use JavaScript to rewrite page elements after the fact, because many of these pages don't otherwise use JavaScript and I'd rather not introduce it as a dependency if I don't have to.

  • Local and global variables in javascript

    - by caramel1991
Today,I started to code a page that prompt the user to choose their PC spec, and the code is as follow <html> <title>Computer Specification Chooser</title> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> var compSpec = document.compChooser; function processorUnavailable_onclick() { alert("Sorry that processor speed is currently unavailable"); compSpec.processor[2].checked = true; } </script> </head> <body> <form name="compChooser"> <p>Tick all components you wan included on your computer</p> <p> DVD-ROM <input type="checkbox" name="chkDVD" value="DVD-ROM" /> <br /> CD-ROM <input type="checkbox" name="chkCD" value="CD-ROM" /> <br /> Zip Drive <input type="checkbox" name="chkZIP" value="ZIP DRIVE" /> </p> <p> Select the processor speed you require <br /> <input type="radio" name="processor" value="3.8" /> 3.8 GHZ <input type="radio" name="processor" value="4.8" onclick="processorUnavailable_onclick()" /> 4.8 GHZ <input type="radio" name="processor" value="6" /> 6 GHZ </p> <input type="button" name="btnCheck" value="Check Form" /> </form> </body> </html> The problem I'm facing is on the function that I've tie to the event handler, when I try to choose the radio button of the processor value 4.8 GHZ,yes it alert me with the message inside the function, but after that,it doest not execute the next statement inside the function, that is to check the next processor value 6 GHZ. I've try my effort to change it and test on it,and find out when I set the var compSpec = document.compChooser as a local variable inside the function instead of a global variable, the next statement could be executed. But I thought for a global variable,it is accessible in everywhere on the page and also inside a function. But why now I can't accesses it inside my function??Any idea?? Besides,I stumble upon a weird article while googling,it says that when a global variable is created,it is added to window object.I just curious why this happen??And what's the benefits and uses of it?? THANK YOU

  • Pass parameters to Flash Main (Document) class

    - by loto
In Flash CSn/AS3 you associate a Main class with a flash file which when loaded in the flash player "automatically creates an instance of the program's main class." I'd like to know how to pass arguments to the main class, since you don't write it yourself (you put its name in the Document textfield in the IDE).
