  • Do really need a count lock on Multi threads with one CPU core?

    If i have some code looks like this(Please ignore the syntax, i want to understand it without a specified language): count = 0 def countDown(): count += 1 if __name__ == '__main__': thread1(countDown) thread2(countDown) thread3(countDown) Here i have a CPU with only one core, do i really need a lock to the variable count in case of it could be over-written by other threads. I don't know, but if the language cares a lot, please explain it under Java?C and Python, So many thanks.

It should be buildable w/o the key (since it's optional) so I can't just add a syntax error to force a build error.     I am wondering how to write this query. I know this actual syntax is bogus, but it will help you understand what I am wanting. I need it in this format, because it is part of a much bigger query. SELECT distributor_id, COUNT(*) AS TOTAL, COUNT(*) WHERE level = 'exec', COUNT(*) WHERE level = 'personal' I need this all returned in one query. Also, it need to be in one row, so the following won't work: 'SELECT distributor_id, COUNT(*) GROUP BY distributor_id'

I could not get let-syntax to provide the same functionality. Currently I use plt scheme, but would like to see answers in different lisp implementations as well.

    In T-SQL, this is allowed: DECLARE @SelectedValue int SELECT @SelectedValue = MyIntField FROM MyTable WHERE MyPrimaryKeyField = 1 So, it's possible to get the value of a SELECT and stuff it in a variable (provided it's scalar, obviously). If I put the same select logic in a stored procedure: CREATE PROCEDURE GetMyInt AS SELECT MyIntField FROM MyTable WHERE MyPrimaryKeyField = 1 Can I get the output of this stored procedure and stuff it in a variable? Something like: DECLARE @SelectedValue int SELECT @SelectedValue = EXEC GetMyInt (I know the syntax above is not allowed because I tried it!)
