  • Help me choose between XML or SQL Lite on android

    I have an android app that periodically, say once a week downloads content from a server in XML. The content is used by the app, different Acitivities use different parts of the content. My question is a design one, should I save the data in SQlite or just keep it as an XML file, which one would be faster to read? The app can only use one content piece at a time, which means subsequent XML content downloads replace the old one.

  • Changing window procedure for console window

    I want to make console window with a functional tray icon. I figured out that most probably it is necessary to replace initial console's window procedure so I will be able to control all messages including notify area events. But SetWindowLong function returns 0, and GetLastError() tells that access is denied. hwndFound = GetConsoleWindow(); SetWindowLong(hwndFound, GWL_WNDPROC, (long)WndProc); What could it be, or maybe there is some other way to control tray icon manipulations?

    I have a comma delimited list I want to import into a database, and in some cases the last item is blank: item1, item2, item3 item1, item2, item1, item2, I'd like to replace all of these empty columns with a placeholder value using a regexp item1, item2, item3 item1, item2, PLACEHOLDER item1, item2, PLACEHOLDER I tried preg_replace("/,\n/", ",PLACEHOLDER\n",$csv);, but this isn't working.   • Improved way to build nested array of unique values in javascript

    The setup: I have a nested html table structure that displays hierarchical data, and the individual rows can be hidden or shown by the user. Each row has a dom id that is comprised of the level number plus the primary key for the record type on that level. I have to have both, because each level is from a different database table, so the primary key alone is not unique in the dom. example: id="level-1-row-216" I am storing the levels and rows of the visible elements in a cookie, so that when the page reloads the same rows the user had open are can be shown automatically. I don't store the full map of dom ids, because I'm concerned about it getting too verbose, and I want to keep my cookie under 4Kb. So I convert the dom ids to a compact json object like this, with one property for each level, and a unique array of primary keys under each level: { 1:[231,432,7656], 2:[234,121], 3:[234,2], 4:[222,423], 5:[222] } With this structure stored in a cookie, I feed it to my show function and restore the user's previous disclosure state when the page loads. The area for improvement: I'm looking for better option for reducing my map of id selectors down to this compact format.     I've been working on ASIdentifierManager framework to get the new UUIDString, the identifier should replace in iOS 6 the UDID, and can be stopped or not by the user for Settings. Everything is ok on simulators and iPhone 4S, but on iPhone 3GS (it's iOS 6 updated!) I'm getting as UUIDString the following: 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000 This is how I'm getting it: if ([ASIdentifierManager sharedManager]) NSLog(@"%@", [[[ASIdentifierManager sharedManager] advertisingIdentifier] UUIDString]); Does anyone know why?     Hello, I am having a problem with a pretty simple AJAX call in rails. I have a blog-style application and each post has a "like" feature. I want to be able to increment the "like" on each post in the index using AJAX onclick. I got it to work; however, the DOM is a bit tricky here, because no matter what partial its looking at, it will only update the TOP partial. so if I click "like" on post #2, it will update and replace the "likes" on post #1 instead. But this is an index of posts, so if I wanted to updated the second "postcontent" div on the page, it will still replace the html of the first.     I have a Flex/Actionscript 3 application that displays RSS feeds in a Text element. It strips out any HTML formatting present, but it's not handling HTML special entity codes properly -- it's rendering &mdash as the literal string instead of replacing it with an em-dash, etc. Is there any systematic way I can make it handle those codes properly, or am I going to need to manually replace those strings regex style?
