    I have a site where people upload videos, which are converted to .flv format. Simple. I wanted to also convert to an mp4 format that will "stream" to an iphone and blackberry, or allowed to be downloaded to either, for later viewing. Can someone post a working ffmpeg line to accomplish this task?   • How to make the swf load after all the images and text loaded?

    My CMS system allow people to post some swf on the homepage, however, sometime there is video which is included in swf, not two files swf+flv. When the swf video load, it near used up the bandwidth and so the page seems not response for a while ... Can I use jQuery to control all the swf in a page that they load after the others done or maybe just load it after 3s or what? Thanks!!

    Hi, Does anyone know if it is possible to encode a video using ffmpeg in reverse? (So the resulting video plays in reverse?) I think I can by generating images for each frame (so a folder of images labelled 1.jpg, 2.jpg etc), then write a script to change the image names, and then re-encode the ivdeo from these files. Does anyone know of a quicker way? This is an FLV video. Thank you

    OK. I have an old G5 running Leopard and a Dell running Ubuntu 10.04 at home and a MacPro also running Leopard at work. I use Terminal.app/bash a lot. On my home G5 it exhibits a nice feature: using ? to navigate history I get the last command starting with the few letters that I've typed. This is what I mean (| represents the caret): $ ssh user@server $ vim /some/file/just/to/populate/history $ ss| So, I've typed the two first letters of "ssh", hitting ? results in this: $ ssh user@server instead of this, which is the behaviour I get everywhere else : $ vim /some/file/just/to/populate/history If I keep on hitting ? or ?, I can navigate through the history of ssh like this: $ ssh otheruser@otherserver $ ssh user@server $ ssh yetanotheruser@yetanotherserver It works the same for any command like cat, vim or whatever. That's really cool. Except that I have no idea how to mimic this behaviour on my other machines.   • Live video streaming: Microsoft or Adobe ?

    Hello, I am looking for a Live Video Streaming solution, The clients will be able to watch the video with a plugin (Flash or Silverlight), or a Standalone application (Windows Media Player, FLV, etc). But I can't choose between Microsoft Solution (Windows Media Server (MMS, RTSP) + Silverlight as client) or the Adobe solution (Flash Media Server (RTMP) + Flash/Flex). The streaming is for short duration cast and will not be online 24/24h. I tried both, and I found the cheaper version of FMS don't provide security to prevent users to register as published (You have to write custom module...), the Windows Media Server provide this function. We already have Windows Server licences. (So Windows Media Server will be "Free") What do you recommend ? What is the best between Flash or Silverlight for Live Video Streaming ? Thank you !

    I'm trying to set a longer (30 day) 'expires' header for my (images only) in the /misc-stuff/ directory. This is what I'm using for my site : # Serve static files directly from nginx location ~* \.(jpg|jpeg|gif|png|bmp|ico|pdf|flv|swf|exe|html|htm|txt|css|js) { add_header Cache-Control public; add_header Cache-Control must-revalidate; expires 7d; } I want to be able to keep that code in to handle regular site images, but create a new block to handle the /misc-stuff/ directory. I have tried : location ^~ /misc-stuff/ { ... } The problem I'm having now is that my backup .php files in that directory show up as plain text if someone tries to access it. How do I set it up so ONLY .gif images in the /misc-stuff/ directory are effected?

Full view is like http://mydomain.tld/converter/task/setComplete/fid/34330/fn/7c2cfed32ec2eef6788e728fa46f7a80.ppt.swf. Despite the fact these URLs ends in such a format they are not static, but fake script requests, so I have a problems with them. What is the best way to do this? How can I add an exclusion for this URL or maybe I can to exclude the specific file exptension (.ppt.swf, pptx.swf) from the list of this Nginx location? Thanks.

    Hi, I have some really sensitive data that I am trying to compress and back up so I can reformat. It's absolutely imperative that nothing happens to these files. I'm a developer so I have very little room for error... plus I'd really hate it if any of my .mp3's got corrupted! File Formats Include... .mp3 .php .js .ai - .psd - .flv (and many more) Is the mac OSX file compression safe enough? Or should I look elsewhere? Is there a more efficient/secure file-format other than .zip (i'm assuming so...)

    Hi, I am redirecting my question to superuser from stackoverflow: I have a http streaming link which gives me .flv streaming feed. I want to convert that and access in my iPhone program. How can i do that? I want to have a desktop software like VLC and input this streaming feed URL and convert to iPhone supported and stream again to iPhone. I tried VLC with H.264 and Mpeg-1 audio, but seems to be it doesn't give the supported format, so as iPhone program doesn't play the video.     I'm on an EC2 instance and have a domain domain.com linked to the EC2 nameservers and it happily is serving my pages if I type domain.com in the URL. However when the page is served it resolves the url to: 1.1.1.10/directory/page.php.   • Record demo and save as AVI for upload to YouTube?

    Hello I need to record the demo of a program in Windows, and save this into an AVI file so that I can upload it to YouTube. I tried Wink for this, but unless I overlooked it, it saves files as Flash (FLV), which YouTube refused. Is there an open-source alternative? I don't need something hardcore, just a tool that will let me save a demo, and insert a couple of slides where the demo stops to let the user read stuff and click on a button to resume watching.   • Windows 7 - sharing file - slow seek time?

    I do not want to copy the files. I simply have video files (.flv) on one computer and I would like another computer user to watch them without copying. Playback is fine, but seek time (as in if you move the cursor to skip some portion of the video) takes forever! I thought wireless speed might be the culprit, so I wired the two computer. Maybe I saw some improvement but still so bad. It's 1 Gbps! (I know real speed will vary, but before I monitor real speed and such, do I have reasonable issue? Or am I bound to have very slow seek time?) What is going on? I must mention some of these files are huge!

    I'm on an IT team in my company and I would like to block youtube to users. I don't want to just deny access to the whole youtube domain, but only to replace the .flv/.mp4 request with the one that I want. That way, if someone tries to watch youtube videos on the network, He'll get a video of why using our expensive bandwidth for pleasure is a no-no. I thought about using a packet manipulation program and just replace the video ID with something that I want, but I didn't manage to do it right.
