    How can I save all of the images/figures in a Word 2007 document as separate files? Right now I have to save each one separately. And I can't even save them from within Word -- I have to copy them to PowerPoint and then save them since there doesn't seem to be any way to save them from within Word. [Note that the trick shown at TechRepublic (http://blogs.techrepublic.com.com/itdojo/?p=135) does not work. It doesn't work because all of my images are cropped and this trick produces uncropped images.]

    I need some way to loop in a single line. Is there a way to simulate new lines in AutoIt? Because if I try While 1 MsgBox (0,1,2) Wend It will not work.     Hi, In my current project, I have to compare 128bit values (actually md5 hashes) and I thought it would be possible to accelerate the comparison by using SSE instructions. My problem is that I can't manage to find good documentation on SSE instructions; I'm searching for a 128bit integer comparison instruction that let me know if one hash is larger, smaller or equal to another. Does such an instruction exists? PS: The targeted machines are x86_64 servers with SSE2 instructions; I'm also interested in a NEON instruction for the same job.

  • "Inlining" (kind of) functions at runtime in C

    Hi, I was thinking about a typical problem that is very JIT-able, but hard to approach with raw C. The scenario is setting up a series of function pointers that are going to be "composed" (as in maths function composition) once at runtime and then called lots and lots of times. Doing it the obvious way involves many virtual calls, that are expensive, and if there are enough nested functions to fill the CPU branch prediction table completely, then the performance with drop considerably. In a language like Lisp, I could probably process the code and substitute the "virtual" call by the actual contents of the functions and then call compile to have an optimized version, but that seems very hacky and error prone to do in C, and using C is a requirement for this problem ;-) So, do you know if there's a standard, portable and safe way to achieve this in C?   • django modelformset - one form per related table row

    Hello, I have two models: class Model1(): name = CharField() url = CharField() class Model2(): model1 = ForeignKey(Model1) user = ForeignKey(User) zzz = CharField() There are 5 rows for model1 in the database, these are fixed and will rarely change. I need to display a formset for model2 that allows users to enter the zzz value, the formset must always show one form per row in the model1 table, the label for each form in the formset must be the name of the related model1. If the user deletes a model2 in the formset the next time the page loads it will render an empty zzz value for that form and the user must be able to edit the previous zzz value - meaning it must be pre populated with all model2 rows associated with the user. The idea is to print each row in the model1 table as a form instead of the user selecting the related model1 name in a select box. I know its not that complicated, but I'm seriously stumped and keep going round in circles!! Many thanks in advance.   • Will Django user permissions work for models with inline tabular forms of other models?

    I am setting up DJango admin to make a model editable. On the same page I have tabular inline of a child model. Everything works as expected. Now I want to restrict permission on the tabular inline child form. Specifically remove update and delete permissions on it. I have tried removing the permissions for the admin user using the 'user permissions' of that user. However, it does not work. Does DJango respect the user permissions in regards to inline model forms?

    With jQuery 1.4.2, :hidden filter is not filtering out elements that were hidden, but i've made then visible by calling show(). Filter assumes it is still hidden. Is this bug or am i missing something? When i select a date from the dtFrm calendar it sets the date on the dtTo calendar as expected. I just cant seem to set the EndDate of the dtTo calendar. Anyone manage to solve this one? Thanks!   • trying to figure out how to bridge two virtual networks together and in turn bridge that to the internet for a virtual inline IDS/IPS system

    I'm trying to figure out how to bridge two vmware (server or workstation, workstation) or virtualbox networks together with a linux IDS/IPS system transparently inline between both the virtual networks. How do I accomplish this? I understand how to bridge to virtual networks together, but how to I make the linux virtual machine sit between them and force traffic to go across the transparent bridge? I would like to have something along the lines of: vmnet a various vms host-only network ---- inline linux box vmnet a boxes forced to go through here to get to the internet --- vmnet b network with internet access configured as either NAT or bridged -- internet I know that basically the linux box needs two virtual nics, one on vmnet a and vmnet b, but other than that, I don't know how to force all the traffic to go across the "transparent" bridging linux box on its way to the internet. Do vmnet a and b have to be the same ip network with the same default route? does vmnet a not have a default route and vmnet b have a default route? I've read in vmware forums that on the linux host you need to change permissions on the vmnet files for promiscuous mode? is this true? how do you configure this scenario on a windows box?

    We are doing some refactoring to a 20 years old legacy codebase, and I'm having a discussion with my colleague about the comments format in the code (plsql, java). There is no a default format for comments, but in most cases people do something like this in the comment: // date (year, year-month, yyyy-mm-dd, dd/mm/yyyy), (author id, author name, author nickname) and comment the proposed format for future and past comments that I want is: // {yyyy-mm-dd}, unique_author_company_id, comment My colleague says that we only need the comment, and must reformat all past and future comments to this format: // comment My arguments: I say for maintenance reasons, it's important to know when and who did a change (even this information is in the SCM). The code is living, and for that reason has a history. Because without the change dates it's impossible to know when a change was introduced without open the SCM tool and search in the long object history. because the author is very important, a change of authors is more credible than a change of authory Agility reasons, no need to open and navigate through the SCM tool people would be more afraid to change something that someone did 15 years ago, than something that was recently created or changed. etc. My colleague's arguments: The history is in the SCM Developers must not be aware of the history of the code directly in the code Packages gets 15k lines long and unstructured comments make these packages harder to understand What do you think is the best approach? Or do you have a better approach to solve this problem?

    Recently a lot of browser-based training sites have been spawned. These include tryruby.org, codeacademy.org, codeschool.org and the Udacity site uses something seemingly similar. They allow the user to type code in say Ruby or Python, this is then sent to the server and the output posted back to the browser. Are there libraries available for in-browser code validation? How would you approach this? Suggestions?
