• Add to extra div to the side of the content

  Hi. I've read some post for adding extra divs to the both sides of the main content and act like a sidebars. But I want to add 2 extra div for adding some graphics and the right will be to the right of the actual sidebar. I took a screenshot for explain my self better. I've added to extra div before the pagewrap and working with css I locate the divs to left and to the right but there is a problem, if some has a resolution smaller then me the divs start moving messing up the loyout. I want that they stay near the content and the sidebar for all the resolution. I've tryed working with css with position and % but with no results. Ok so, the cyan rectangle would be the extra divs, and the gray graphics the contents of these. I don't care if the users has smaller resolutions, the graphics can go out the screen, but the "roots" must be fixed to the side of the main content ;) Hope I explained well. • Windows Mobile 6.5 Remote desktop

  I am trying to help a friend out, we have gotten him able to connect via his windows mobile 6.5 phone to his computer via remote desktop. The problem we are running into is that the program that he needs to be able to access does not work at lower resolutions (such as his phone has) and most of the program screen is cut off (it is a VB program) Is there a way to have a "higher" resolution on the screen being sent to the Windows Mobile 6.5 phone and just have him scroll up and down on the screen? Right now replacing the phone is not an option (it might be 6 months down the line, but for now it is not an option).

  When you use iTunes to sync your videos with the iPhone the videos are always saved with no more than 640 pixels wide, if I am not wrong. What about the iPad? What is the size of videos iTunes syncs with iPad? 1024x768? and what if the video has a dimension below 1024x768? Will it scale up? or will it keep the video at low res and scale when you play? The question is because I am using the MPMoviePlayerController and I need to know what resolutions to expect, so I can adjust the interface. thanks.

  I am developing smart device application in C#. I am developing this application for 240*320 screen resolution. I want to make this application screen resolution independent so that it can run on different mobile devices with different screen resolutions. Currently I am testing my application on different emulators for platform- Pocket PC 2003, Windows mobile 6 standard SDK & Windows Mobile 6 professional SDK . When I run the application on emulator for 240*320 screen resolution or less than that it works well ( only it provide the horizontal & vertical scrall bar in case of resolution less tha 240*320). If I run my application on emulator with more than 240*320 screen resolution its User Inferface gets badly affected. How to make the smart device application screen resolution independent ? Can you provide me the code or link through which i can resolve the above issue? Is there any setting for making the application screen resolution independent?

• [android] Screen Orientation Landscape back to Portrait not working

  Hello, I've racked my brain for hours over this issue. I have created a main.xml and designed one for the res/layout-land (landscape) format and another one for portrait in res/layout. When I rotate the emulator (ctrl-F11), my app rotates properly to landscape using the correct main.xml, but a subsequent rotation back to portrait just keeps the landscape mail.xml. This was done in a 2.0 AVD.. Out of despiration I downloaded the new Sample Code for Multiple Resolutions and had to create a new 2.1 AVD, to my surprise rotation with this app works correctly as expected. So I then decided to try my app on the 2.1 AVD and it works perfectly. So, is this a Bug in a 2.0 AVD or is there something special I need to be doing for < 2.1 SDK versions? This is driving me crazy because no where did anyone mention this issue. Thanks in advance

• Problems with sticky footer - CSS - main content wont go 100% height (float)

  I'm trying to implement hxxp://www.cssstickyfooter.com however I am having a few problems! See screenshot: hxxp://img22.imageshack.us/img22/2654/71161106.jpg The div "Content" contains both left and right columns. On smaller resolutions this is working as expected however once the user starts to increase there resolution the content doesn't expand as I intend it to. If you notice the blue box. That should stretch to the footer at the bottom of the page. If you notice that the blue divider line (right_container3-4) stops also at the same point. • SSRS - Unable to determine if the owner of job has server access [SQLSTATE 42000] (Error 15404))

  SQL Server Reporting Services, in SSRS it seems like Schedules never fire, however a look at the SQL Agent reveals a permission issue related to not being able to resolve a user account. Seems SQL Agent does not rely on caching or whatever voodoo Windows magically works. link text Fix is listed here... edit -- Above is the fix I used to workaround this issue, has any one found any other work arounds or resolutions to this issue? It seems that by default the SSRS Generated Schedules are run as this phantom user account. How do I change this default? Is SSRS creating the jobs as the user the service runs as? Thanks Remus

  I am using a "WVGA800" for my app. I try to run it on different resolution screens. It it is not perfectly scratching in that resolution . I read and implement issues form this link. http://developer.android.com/guide/practices/screens_support.html But still not result. Please let me know if any one hase a perfect solution. Main issue are that I am fixing hight & width of Image, textsize etc. When these are displayed to screen of "WVGA800". But when I test them on "HVGA", "QVGA" then problem arise. I want to avoid the "if else" conditions by getting the screen resolution at Runtime. If any one hase any solution for this...let me know. Thanks in advance.   I need to build a DSL Solution using MsBuild and want to be able to transform the TT files, I have tried the guide on http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee847423(VS.100).aspx but I am getting the following errors: Failed to resolve include text for file:{0} and also Loading the include file '{0}' returned a null or empty string.   Hey guys, I am working on a game, and wanted to add a screen that would open when the user clicked on certain objects. The screen would be laid out to have an image on the left, a title on the top right, and text below the title. I have a few problems with this, 1) How would I create the popup box? (preferably with rounded edges) 2) How would I wrap the text (in front of the picture, but not outside the popup-box, I may even need vertical scroll bars) 3) How would I account for different screen resolutions (would they even make a difference?)   Trying to digest docs about design Multiple resolutions (http://d.android.com/guide/practices/screens_support.html#dips-pels) I found that it is possible to set dimensions of my interface elements in XML layouts using DIPs as in following fragment : "android:layout_width="10dip" But all Java interface takes integer as arguments and there is no way to specify dimensions in DIPs. What is the correct way to calculate this ? I figured that I have to use property density of DisplayMetrics class but is this a correct way ? May I relly that formula : pixels * DisplayMetrics.density = dip is always correct ? Will there be API in DIPs for Java ?

Basically you design your form to fit the standard 320x240 screen. To support a different screen size, you just add a new form, inherit from your custom form (instead of just Form), and then re-arrange the controls as necessary.

  I'm not sure how it is using other frameworks but this questions is strictly regarding Java swing. Is it better to use a Visual Editor to place objects or to manually code the placement of the objects onto the frame (Layout managers or null layouts)? From my experience I've had a lot of trouble using Visual editors when it comes to different screen resolutions or changing the window size. Using manual code to place objects I've found that my GUIs behave a lot better with regard to the screen size issue. However when I want to change a small part of my GUI it takes a lot more work compared to using a visual editor Just wondering what people's thoughts were on this?

  Hello all. Am I going mad/blind? Probably a combination of the two. How does one go about removing the data labels from a pie chart with the new chart control in .net 4? I can get these to display as tooltips absolutely fine, but ultiamtely I'd like the labels not to be present as it looks rather busy.   Hey everyone, I am calling a JS function through the ExternalInterface using Flex which requires the absolute X and Y coordinates to create a pop-up menu. The Flex application is displayed on the center of an HTML page, therefore there is an HTML X and Y offset to consider. I have tried using the LocalToGlobal and ContentToGlobal functions, but these are just giving me the X and Y coordinates relative to the Flex application, it is not considering the HTML X and Y offset of having the Flex app in the center of the page or varying different screen resolutions. Is the best approach to retrieve the HTML X and Y offset using JavaScript? Is there a Flex function I can use that provides the absolute X and Y coordinates based on the HTML page? Thanks!

  How can I insert arabic characters into sql database? I tried to insert arabic data into a table and the arabic characters in the insert script were inserted as '??????' in the table. I tried to directly paste the data into the table through sql management studio and the arabic characters was successfully and accurately inserted. I looked around for resolutions for this problems and some threads suggested changing the datatype to nvarchar instead of varchar. I tried this as well but without any luck. How can we insert arabic characters into sql database?

  I have a problem with inserting a vector graphics (WMF) into report (Crystal Reports v10.5 from Visual Studio 2008). The image is static, inserted by choosing "Insert Picture" during report design in VS. The problem is that it displays differently (size and aspect ratio) on machines with different operating systems and screen resolutions. Converting to bitmap isn't possible beacause loss of the quality of print isn't acceptable. I thought about dynamic loading of the image, but in this version of CR. I don't see a possibility to set dynamic graphic location in picture properties. Is there any way to solve this problem?

  Does anyone know what will happen with existing apps when they run on the iPhone 4.0 in terms of the new screen resolution? I am assuming, just like developing for the iPad that there should be no hard coded screen resolutions in your code. I'd also like advice on the best way of writing robust code to work well on any device. For instance, detecting the screen resolution is not enough - on the iPad the screen is physically bigger so you can display more items on it. On the new iPhone the screen is the same physical size but higher resolution, so the likely thing is that you wont want to display more items, just higher resolution versions of them. Any help would be useful, Regards Dave EDIT: I have read the other similar posts, I guess what I really would like to know is what is the recommended way to write code for all App Store devices in a robust way so they a) all work b) make best use of the device.

  Hi, Nowadays we have screens like 1920x1200 and 1680x1050 in popular use and some even use 2560x1600 resolution while some older systems still rely on a 800x600 resolution. I am writing a software that looks good on a 1680x1050, but too small on a 1920x1200 and too large on a 1024x768. Do you have suggestions how to go for designing an application for various screen sizes? Things were a lot simpler before when we had little differences in resolutions, but now it seems there's no good way of handling this. I know this question is more about designing / layout than programming, but I bet this is more or less part of programmers life so I made this post here.

  I am building an intranet website that is intended to be seen by mobile phones using one of the following resolutions: 240x320, 320x240, 360x640 and 800x352. All content is to be seen covering the full screen. No scroll should be necessary. I have developed, initially for 360x640. When this content is seen on 240x320 or 320x240 the letter is too big and the user has to scroll to see all content. Is there any way to scale the letters down or up automatically, so the content will fit on every screen size? I mean, adjusting the text font size according to the current screen resolution? thanks for any help.

  I am developing a Delphi documents management application, so somehow I am giving the user some functionality similar to windows explorer. Currently I am using imagelists where I manually maintain the icons (like one for pdf, one for xls, ...) and when I need to display an icon for a filetype that I don't explicitly support I have a generic icon. Is there a way to retrieve the icon used by windows, like MyTImage := GiveMeDefaultIconForExtension('pdf'); In Vista and Seven this should be an icon with multiple resolutions I think. Moreover I would like to know if there is a way to get the preview used by windows explorer. For example windows explorer creates a small thumbnail for a pdf document for example, and displays it when the user chooses to view "big icons". Is there a way to retrieve that preview?
