  • What does get-task-allow do in Xcode?

    - by Mr. Matt
So when I set up my entitlements in my iPhone app project, I create a new Entitlements.plist, and set the value of get-task-allow to false. But why? What does this key represent? EDIT Note this is related to this question - I found that flipping the value of this key to true allowed me to install the app on my device)

  • Optimizing UITableView

    - by Daniel Granger
I have a UITableview made up with a custom cell loaded from a nib. This custom cell has 9 UILabel s and thats all. When scrolling the table on my iPhone the tables scrolling motion is slightly jerky, its not as smooth as other tableviews! (On the simulator it scrolls fine but I guess its using the extra power of my mac) Are there any tips to help optimize this or any tableview or methods to help find the bottleneck. Many Thanks

  • Cocoa NSString explode

    - by dododedodonl
Hi all, I have a NSString: @"1a,1b,1c,1d,5c". I want this NSString separated into a NSMutableArray, but I don't know how. I think it is fairly simple but I can't find it (maybe because my English isn't good enough to find a good description for it to search on). Regards, Dodo

  • Strange error inserting new relationship data in core-data

    - by michael
My app will allow users to create a personalised list of events from a large list of events. I have a table view which simply displays these events, tapping on one of them takes the user to the event details view, which has a button "add to my events". In this detailed view I own the original event object, retrieved via an NSFetchedResultsController and passed to the detailed view (via a table cell, the same as the core data recipes sample). I have no trouble retrieving/displaying information from this "event". I am then trying to add it to the list of MyEvents represented by a one to many (inverse) relationship: This code: NSManagedObjectContext *context = [event managedObjectContext]; MyEvents *myEvents = (MyEvents *)[NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName:@"MyEvents" inManagedObjectContext:context]; [myEvents addEventObject:event];//ERROR And this code (suggested below): //would this add to or overwrite the "list" i am attempting to maintain NSManagedObjectContext *context = [event managedObjectContext]; MyEvents *myEvents = (MyEvents *)[NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName:@"MyEvents" inManagedObjectContext:context]; NSMutableSet *myEvent = [myEvents mutableSetValueForKey:@"event"]; [myEvent addObject:event]; //ERROR Bot produce (at the line indicated by //ERROR): *** -[NSComparisonPredicate evaluateWithObject:]: message sent to deallocated instance Seems I may have missed something fundamental. I cant glean any more information through the use of debugging tools, with my knowledge of them. 1) Is this a valid way to compile and store an editable list like this? 2) Is there a better way? 3) What could possibly be the deallocated instance in error? -- I have now modified the Event entity to have a to-many relationship called "myEvents" which referrers to itself. I can add Events to this fine, and logging the object shows the correct memory addresses appearing for the relationship after a [event addMyEventObject:event];. The same failure happens right after this however. I am still at a loss to understand what is going wrong. • What is a good way to animate UIViews inside UITableViewCell after a callback?

    - by erotsppa
We couldn't find a way to animate UIViews inside a UITableCell as an action from a callback. Suppose in a scenario where you click on a button on the UITableViewCell and it fires off an asynchronous action to download a picture. Suppose further that when the picture is downloaded we want a UIView in the cell to animate the picture to give user a visual feedback that something new is about to be presented. We couldn't find a way to track down the UIVIew to invoke beginAnimation on because the original cell that the user clicked on might now be used for another row due to the nature of cells being reused when you scroll up and down in the table. In other words we can't keep a pointer to that UITableViewCell. We need to find another way to target the cell and animate it if that row is visible and don't animate if the row is scrolled out of range.

  • UIKeyboard turn Caps Lock on

    - by Daniel Granger
I need my user to input some data like DF-DJSL so I put this in the code: theTextField.autocapitalizationType = UITextAutocapitalizationTypeAllCharacters; But unfortunately what happens is the first to letter type in CAPS but then letter immediately after typing the hyphen will be in lower case and then the rest return to CAPS therefore producing output like this (unless the user manually taps the shift button after typing a hyphen): DF-dJSL How can I fix this? Many Thanks

  • Asynchronous Image loading in certain custom UITableViewCells

    - by Dan
So, I'm sure that this issue has been brought up before, but I haven't quite seen a solution for my specific problem. What I'm doing is loading a group of custom UITableViewCell's that are drawn using Loren Brichter's solution, each cell has some content, an icon (representing the user) that is asynchronously loaded into it, and a few other things. Eventually, I'm hoping to add support for images. Not every cell has an image, so in the creation of the cell, it determines if an image is required to be loaded and drawn into the cell. My problem is that I don't know how I can do that while keeping the image loaded asynchronously - with not every cell having the need to load an image (like needed with the icon) I'm not sure how to keep it in order when an cell is thrown off screen and re-rendered when the user scrolls over it. Each cell draws it content from an NSArray containing a custom object called FeedItem. All I'm really looking for is some sort of solution or idea to help me because right now I am at a loss. Thanks guys, I will appreciate the help.

  • Push different views from a table.

    - by Tanner
Hello All, Ive been following a tutorial to implement a search bar ( http://www.iphonesdkarticles.com/2009/01/uitableview-searching-table-view.html ) However I cant seem to push different views. Here is what my didsSelectRowAtIndexPath looks like. - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { NSString *selectedCountry = nil; if(searching) selectedCountry = [copyListOfItems objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; else { NSDictionary *dictionary = [listOfItems objectAtIndex:indexPath.section]; NSArray *array = [dictionary objectForKey:@"Countries"]; selectedCountry = [array objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; } //Initialize the detail view controller and display it. if ([[listOfItems objectAtIndex:indexPath.row] isEqual:@"neon"]){ Neon *abo = [[Neon alloc] initWithNibName:@"Neon" bundle:nil]; //dvController.selectedCountry = selectedCountry; [self.navigationController pushViewController:abo animated:YES]; [abo release]; } } And here is the debuger message when I click on neon: 2010-05-09 08:47:27.516 iTeachU[3821:307] * Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSRangeException', reason: ' -[NSMutableArray objectAtIndex:]: index 60 beyond bounds [0 .. 0]' ** Call stack at first throw: terminate called after throwing an instance of 'NSException' Program received signal: “SIGABRT”. If anyone has a way to push views based on the cells text it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

  • Drawing triangle/arrow on a line with CGContext

    - by Pete
    Hi, I am using the framework of route-me for working with locations. In this code the path between two markers(points) will be drawn as a line. My Question: "What code should I add if I want to add an arrow in the middle(or top) of the line, so that it points the direction" Thanks - (void)drawInContext:(CGContextRef)theContext { renderedScale = [contents metersPerPixel]; float scale = 1.0f / [contents metersPerPixel]; float scaledLineWidth = lineWidth; if(!scaleLineWidth) { scaledLineWidth *= renderedScale; } //NSLog(@"line width = %f, content scale = %f", scaledLineWidth, renderedScale); CGContextScaleCTM(theContext, scale, scale); CGContextBeginPath(theContext); CGContextAddPath(theContext, path); CGContextSetLineWidth(theContext, scaledLineWidth); CGContextSetStrokeColorWithColor(theContext, [lineColor CGColor]); CGContextSetFillColorWithColor(theContext, [fillColor CGColor]); // according to Apple's documentation, DrawPath closes the path if it's a filled style, so a call to ClosePath isn't necessary CGContextDrawPath(theContext, drawingMode); }

  • First Letter Section Headers with Core Data

    - by Cory Imdieke
I'm trying to create a list of people sorted in a tableView of sections with the first letter as the title for each section - a la Address Book. I've got it all working, though there is a bit of an issue with the sort order. Here is the way I'm doing it now: NSFetchRequest *request = [[NSFetchRequest alloc] init]; [request setEntity:[NSEntityDescription entityForName:@"Contact" inManagedObjectContext:context]]; NSSortDescriptor *fullName = [[NSSortDescriptor alloc] initWithKey:@"fullName" ascending:YES]; NSArray *sortDescriptors = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:fullName, nil]; [request setSortDescriptors:sortDescriptors]; [fullName release]; [sortDescriptors release]; NSError *error = nil; [resultController release]; resultController = [[NSFetchedResultsController alloc] initWithFetchRequest:request managedObjectContext:context sectionNameKeyPath:@"firstLetter" cacheName:nil]; [resultController performFetch:&error]; [request release]; fullName is a standard property, and firstLetter is a transient property which returns - as you'd expect - the first letter of the fullName. 95% of the time, this works perfectly. The problem is the result controller expects these two "lists" (the sorted fullName list and the sorted firstLetter list) to match exactly. If I have 2 contacts like John and Jack, my fullName list would sort these as Jack, John every time but my firstLetter list might sort them as John, Jack sometimes as it's only sorting by the first letter and leaving the rest to chance. When these lists don't match up, I get a blank tableView with 0 items in it. I'm not really sure how I should go about fixing this issue, but it's very frustrating. Has anyone else run into this? What did you guys find out?

  • ABAddressBookGetPersonCount(ab) problem

    - by prathumca
Why the call to ABAddressBookGetPersonCount(ab); is giving the problem? I have around 2000 contacts in my address book. When my app gets started I'm trying to read the entire address book. This works perfectly on simulator but causing crash on IPhone. The crash report is pointing to 9 AppSupport 0x31fbca1e 0x31fb6000 + 27166 // CPRecordStoreGetCountOfInstancesOfClassWhere + 0x7e 10 AddressBook 0x318df668 0x318d5000 + 42600 // ABCGetPersonCountInStore + 0x88 11 AddressBook 0x318ea450 0x318d5000 + 87120 // ABAddressBookGetPersonCount + 0x8 12 MyAddressBook 0x0000ad30 0x1000 + 40240 // -[MyAddressBookController readAB] + 0x2c0 13 MyAddressBook 0x0000a8ce 0x1000 + 39118 // -[MyAddressBookController start] + 0x4a What I'm doing in "readAB"? - (void) readAB { ABAddressBookRef ab = ABAddressBookCreate(); CFArrayRef contacts = ABAddressBookCopyArrayOfAllPeople(ab); CFIndex count = ABAddressBookGetPersonCount(ab); for(int i = 0; i < count; i++) { //doing some thing... } } If you observe the above crash report, it is clearly pointing to CFIndex count = ABAddressBookGetPersonCount(ab);. Whats wrong with this code? I'm sure that this code works perfectly on firmware 3.1.2. But now I upgraded firmware to 3.1.3. Is this upgrade is causing any trouble? Regards, prathumca.

  • iPhone: UITextField inside TableView cell?

    - by Nic Hubbard
    I am trying to programatically add a UITextFiled inside one of my tableview cells. How would I do this? Assuming it is in the following method, what code would I use? - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"Cell"; UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleValue2 reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier] autorelease]; cell.editingAccessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryDisclosureIndicator; // Don't let the user click when not in editing mode cell.selectionStyle = UITableViewCellSelectionStyleNone; } switch (indexPath.row) { case 0: cell.textLabel.text = @"Title"; // This is where I want to add a text field cell.detailTextLabel.text = @"test"; cell.editing = YES; break; } return cell; }

  • "Filtering" Cells in a UITableView. Multiple Views? Subviews?

    - by Bryan Veloso
(First question related to iPhone development, so apologies for sounding off-track.) I'm creating a view that has a few things; a UITabBarController controlling 3 UITableViews. Two of these TableViews are filtered versions of the 3rd. All of them will be making a JSON call (still working on that) to retrieve a list of objects. So, because these views are related in some way, would there be a more "sane" way to display this data? With say, subviews? Or would I have to just create 1 view for each that returns the desired data and be done with it? If it helps at all, I have full control over the API I'm talking with, so changes to that that help with this don't really matter to me too much. Thanks in advance!

  • Open source iPhone components? Reusable views, controllers, buttons, table cells, etc?

    - by Ian Terrell
Are there any repositories around for open sourced iPhone components? For instance, I have found myself needing to create several new types of table cells to mimic some of Apple's existing functionality (for instance, all the different types of table cells present in the Settings application). I can't imagine I'm alone here. Where do you go to find open sourced reusable components, or do you just write and hoard your own? Update: I know there are open source full projects around (see this question), but rummaging through them and picking and choosing still leads to significant duplication of effort. Update 2: Here are some libraries that I've found (or have come into existence) since asking this question: Three20 -- Custom UI classes used in the Facebook application CocoaHelpers -- Extensions to common classes MBProgressHUD -- Replacement for the undocumented UIProgressHUD

  • Signature control - iPad

    - by Tejaswi Yerukalapudi
I'm looking to develop a signature control for the iPad. I haven't really done this before, but I think this involves creating an area to draw, the draw itself and the storage. Any tips on how to get started will be great! I'm also looking at using a stylus to create a signature. Are there any styluses that are specifically built for the iPad? The normal ones don't seem to work..\ Thanks, Teja
