  By mistake, I ended up executing "rm -rf /" command from sudo on my laptop which erased many files before it stopped. Now when I restarted my system , it gives a GRUB rescue prompt. I am having dual boot with Ubuntu 12.04 and Windows 7 I request the help for following: How do I fix the currently installed Ubuntu without overwriting/erasing the left over files (from rm -rf command)? Is using Boot-Repair safe ? Is there a way to directly go to Windows 7?

• Ubuntu glitches up when i boot it

  I recently installed Ubuntu on an old laptop of mine(HP Compaq Presario v6000), and I am having some problems. I installed everything and followed the guide like it said, but, when I try to boot up from hard drive it displays the desktop, but everything starts to glitch out and I can't click on any applications or scroll over them without it glitching, proceeded by a lock-up. I might re-install it to see if it helps, but if not, you guys got to help me out.

  I tried many already built Twitter clone scripts but none was having user-end functionality exactly as twitter. I know enough PHP to code all the twitter's features myself. But is there a faster way than coding myself? I've never used a CMS but if I do then won't I have to search a plugin for every twitter feature, like support for multiple users, options for following-unfollowing users, retweeting (reposting someone else's post), tagging? And I'm afraid that there might be some licensing issues with CMS.

  I have installed the 12.10 beta (with all updates) on my iMac Early 2008. One annoying problem I'm having is that, when I log out of my account and go back to the login screen (lightdm, per default), the screen stays on: it never goes blank. This is not good for my display I guess! The screensaver (set to just a blank screen) works just fine when I'm logged in. The problem only appears at the login screen. Any ideas?

If you are not familiar with it, then it basically describes how a SPARC processor should behave - it doesn't describe a particular implementation, just the "generic" processor. From what I understand they both do exactly the same thing, although from reading the documentation it appears as if using effects is meant to be 'easier'. However they seem the same to me, one uses VSSetConstantBuffers and the other GetConstantBufferByName. Is there something I'm missing here?
