  • Adapting Machine Learning Algorithms to my Problem

    - by Berkay
i'm working on a project and need your ideas, advices. First of all, let me tell my problem. There is power button and some other keys of a machine and there is only one user has authentication to use this machine. There are no other authentication methods, the machine is in public area in a company. the machine is working with the combination of pressing power button and some other keys. The order of pressing keys is secret but we don't trust it, anybody can learn the password and can access the machine. i have the capability of managing the key hold time and also some other metrics to measure the time differences between the key such as horizantal or vertical key press times (differences). and also i can measure the hold time etc. These all means i have some inputs, Now i'm trying to get a user profile by analysing these inputs. My idea is to get the authenticated user to press the password n times and create a threshold or something similar to that. This method also can be said BIOMETRICS, anyone else who knows the machine button combination, can try the password but if he is out of this range can not get access it. How can i adapt these into my algorithms? where should i start ? i don't want to delve deep into machine learning, and also i can see the in my first try i can get false positive and false negative values really high, but i can manage it by changing my inputs. thanks.

  • UITableView: Header below a section gets duplicated if a row is deleted from the section above

    - by Megasaur
In the editing mode of one of my tableviews, I delete a row from a section. The section below has a header. The deletion of the row in the section above leads to duplication of the section header below. So I have 2 header titles, one above the other. I also tried forcing a reload of the section after the delete to no avail: [self.tableView beginUpdates]; [self.tableView deleteRowsAtIndexPaths:[NSArray arrayWithObject:indexPath] withRowAnimation:YES]; NSIndexSet * indexSet = [[NSIndexSet alloc] initWithIndexesInRange:NSMakeRange(3,1)]; [self.tableView reloadSections:indexSet withRowAnimation:UITableViewRowAnimationFade]; [indexSet release]; [self.tableView endUpdates]; Any ideas of what I have done wrong? It is also interesting that the header that failed to get removed is not "seen". If I scroll right off the content of the table view, and let it snap back, only the top header view is seen. It always ignores the header that should have been removed.

What should I do in order to fix this?

  • Adding an observer to UIImageView? observer & notifications

    - by sagar
Each class has almost one method named addObserver [imgVURL addObserver:<#(NSObject *)observer#> forKeyPath:<#(NSString *)keyPath#> options:<#(NSKeyValueObservingOptions)options#> context:<#(void *)context#>] Here, imgVURL is an image which is going to be load an image asynchronously. When image will be loaded dynamically - other class will set an image from loaded data. Now, my question is how can we add an observer to UIImageView's instance. Observer and notifications are same or not ? If it is not then what's different ? Let's have some sample code That I did in my project to understand my question. // locating image view from Scroll view by it's tag imgVURL=(UIImageView*)[scrMain viewWithTag:(kTagImagesTag+i)]; // ImageViewURL is a class which contains methods of // didReceiveResponse // didReceiveData // connection ImageViewURL *tmp=[[ImageViewURL alloc] init]; // it has a nonatomic property which will take the reference of my image view tmp.imgV=imgVURL; // now I will pass a url from my an array to property strURL // in strUrl I have custom setter // in which I am initializing a connection tmp.strUrl=[NSURL URLWithString:[[tblmain objectAtIndex:i] valueForKey:@"url"]]; // from ImageViewURL.m file -(void)connectionDidFinishLoading:(NSURLConnection *)connection { [[UIApplication sharedApplication] setNetworkActivityIndicatorVisible:NO]; // NSLog@"ImageView Ref From - %@",imgV); // see imgV has reference of my -> imgVURL (nonatomic, assign) imgV.image=[UIImage imageWithData:myWebData]; [connection release]; connection=nil; } // as you can see in above code many many images are loaded asynchronously // now How can I add an observer to an imageview whether it received or not.

  • Android ignores scrollbarsize

    - by Maragues
Hi, I'm trying to modify a ListView scrollbar's width without success <ListView android:id="@+id/android:list" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:choiceMode="singleChoice" android:scrollbars="vertical" android:scrollbarTrackVertical="@drawable/scrollbar_vertical_track" android:scrollbarThumbVertical="@drawable/scrollbar_vertical_thumb" android:scrollbarSize="4px" android:clickable="true"/> First I tried using a drawable image 4px wide, but the .png was resized. Then I tried using a shape extracted from SamplesApi, without success. <shape xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:width="40px"> <gradient android:startColor="#505050" android:endColor="#C0C0C0" android:angle="0"/> <corners android:radius="0dp" /> I've tried with and without the android:width attribute. There's a question on the same topic (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2565083/width-of-a-scroll-bar-in-android), but it doesn't try anything different that what I'm already trying. As far as I know, creating my own theme shouldn't change the output. There's an example in SamplesApi (Views/ScrollBars). I tried modifying the scrollbarSize attribute without result. I know about ninepatch images, but there's an attribute which should do what I want. Any hint? Thanks in advance.

  • Using TextWraping within a TextBox, inside a Grid for use within a ListBox in WP7

    - by Adam Goodchild
I am trying to get my data to display properly within a GridLayout, which is to be used as a DataTemplate for an Item within ListBox. Here is the code associated with what I am doing: <Grid Name="FeedItemTemplate"> <Grid.RowDefinitions> <RowDefinition Height="Auto" /> <RowDefinition Height="Auto" /> </Grid.RowDefinitions> <Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ColumnDefinition Width="Auto" /> <ColumnDefinition Width="*" /> <ColumnDefinition Width="Auto" /> </Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <Image Source="{Binding ProfileImage}" Grid.RowSpan="2" Height="75" Width="75" VerticalAlignment="Center" Margin="1" /> <TextBlock Text="{Binding UserName}" Grid.Column="1" Foreground="#FFC8AB14" FontSize="28" HorizontalAlignment="Left"/> <TextBlock Text="{Binding TimeStamp}" Grid.Column="2" TextWrapping="Wrap" FontSize="18" HorizontalAlignment="Center"/> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Message}" Grid.Column="1" Grid.Row="1" Grid.ColumnSpan="2" TextWrapping="Wrap" FontSize="24" /> </Grid> The issue is that using this layout, when TextWrapping is set to Wrap, the Item is displayed correctly, but when scrolling through the ListBox everything is really jittery, you cannot scroll in small increments, and it just jumps all over the place. Any reason why it does this? As I said, only when TextWrapping is set to Wrap it does this. When its not used, it scrolls fine, but the text is all along one line and off the screen.

  • How do I use a different image for each JQuery UI Slider handle

    - by Tom
I'm using a JQuery UI slider which has two handles (a.k.a range slider). I know how to style the first handle: .ui-slider-horizontal .ui-slider-handle {background: white url(http://stackoverflow.com/content/img/so/vote-arrow-down.png) no-repeat scroll 50% 50%;} But how do I style the second handle differently? Using Firebug I can see Jquery does not uniquely identify each handle: <div id="hourlyRateSlider" class="ui-slider ui-slider-horizontal ui-widget ui-widget-content ui-corner-all"> <div class="ui-slider-range ui-widget-header" style="left: 26%; width: 46%;"/> <a class="ui-slider-handle ui-state-default ui-corner-all" href="#" style="left: 26%;"/> <a class="ui-slider-handle ui-state-default ui-corner-all" href="#" style="left: 72%;"/> </div> So I imagine I have to use either a CSS child selector which could be cross-browser problematic. Or I could use some JQuery trickery to add a CSS class to the second handle? Anyone done this in a neat way before?

  • Scrolling with two fingers with a UIScrollView

    - by Craig
    I have an app where my main view accepts both touchesBegan and touchesMoved, and therefore takes in single finger touches, and drags. I want to implement a UIScrollView, and I have it working, but it overrides the drags, and therefore my contentView never receives them. I'd like to implement a UIScrollview, where a two finger drag indicates a scroll, and a one finger drag event gets passed to my content view, so it performs normally. Do I need create my own subclass of UIScrollView? Here's my code from my appDelegate where I implement the UIScrollView. @implementation MusicGridAppDelegate @synthesize window; @synthesize viewController; @synthesize scrollView; - (void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(UIApplication *)application { // Override point for customization after app launch //[application setStatusBarHidden:YES animated:NO]; //[window addSubview:viewController.view]; scrollView.contentSize = CGSizeMake(720, 480); scrollView.showsHorizontalScrollIndicator = YES; scrollView.showsVerticalScrollIndicator = YES; scrollView.delegate = self; [scrollView addSubview:viewController.view]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; } - (void)dealloc { [viewController release]; [scrollView release]; [window release]; [super dealloc]; }

  • Modified jQuery innerfade sluggish

    - by Jay Hankins
HI. I am using the jQuery innerfade plugin to scroll through some images on my site. Innerfade is sluggish to move on Firefox 3.6.3, and IE 8. IE 8 is much worse than Firefox, and Chrome runs smoothly. Can you analyze my code to see what the problem is? I've used the modified innerfade from here: http://www.stylephp.com/2009/01/17/customizing-jquery-innerfade-plug-in-adding-controls-navigation-and-caption/ My sites are here: Without bg image: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/145908/doozie2/index.html With bg image: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/145908/doozie2/index2.html Removing my background image fixes the situation; it's not that big of a file. I don't understand why that is an issue. I am using a technique to resize the image to fit the browser window, as you can see in the CSS. Thanks so much. P.S. Sorry, I'm a new user so I can't post more than one link. Please copy and paste the address between <.

  • Adding a Layout to bottom of the screen inside a ScrollView in Landscape mode

    - by andreea
I have the following layout which works in Portrait mode: the Layout with the id LinearLayout02 is placed at the bottom of the screen. The problem appears when flipping to Lanscape mode, when the #LinearLayout02 is placed at the top of the screen. The question is how do I position #LinearLayout02 at the bottom of the screen in both Portrait and Landscape mode? (This happens on G1 and Xperia) Thank you The following code is placed inside a ScrollView android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:fillViewport="true" <LinearLayout android:id="@+id/sLayout" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:orientation="vertical" android:paddingTop="2dip" android:layout_alignParentTop="true" android:gravity="top" > ..... </LinearLayout> <LinearLayout android:id="@+id/LinearLayout02" android:background="@drawable/bottombar_bg" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:paddingTop="10dip" android:layout_height="56dip" android:layout_alignParentBottom="true" android:gravity="bottom" > <Button android:id="@+id/navigate" style="@style/mainBottomTabsButtonNormal" android:drawableLeft="@drawable/icon_navigation" android:text="@string/navigationSettings" android:layout_gravity="left"> </Button> <Button android:id="@+id/search" style="@style/mainBottomTabsButtonActive" android:drawableLeft="@drawable/icon_search" android:text="@string/search.label" android:layout_gravity="right"> </Button> </LinearLayout> </RelativeLayout>

  • How to start a marquee with JavaScript based on user input?

    - by APShredder
    Hello everybody. I am trying to use JavaScript to start a marquee when a user puts their name into a textbox and then clicks a button. I've got an idea as to how to do it, but my script never fully works. Any help is appreciated! Here's what I have so far: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <title></title> <script type="text/javascript"> function StartMarquee() { var text = document.getElementById(namebox); if (text != null) { document.write("<marquee behavior='scroll' direction='right'>Hello " + text + "!</marquee>"); } else { alert("Enter your name first!!!"); } } </script> </head> <body> <table style="margin:0px auto 0px auto;"> <tr><td>Enter your name!</td> <td><input type="text" id="namebox"/></td> <td><input type="button" value="Enter" onclick="StartMarquee()"/></td></tr> </table> </body> </html>

  • how to find the height of html content

    - by ganapati hegde
Hi, I am trying to display 10 html pages as a single document, with 10 chapters. I am using Webkitgtk+ engine to render the HTML pages. I am getting the content of each html files and concatenating all of them to create a single 'char *content' and using webkit_web_view_load_html_string(WebKitWebView *web_view, const gchar *content, const gchar *base_uri); this function to load all the HTML files, as a document. Now i am trying to build a 'table of contents(toc)' for this document, which displays all the chapter names in order. My requirement is, when i click on a particular chapter in toc, the document should scroll to that point. For that i need to know height of each chapter ( height of each html file content). The point to be noted here is, the width of the document can changed and as HTML is reflowable, as width increases height decreases and vice-versa. So each time when height changes i need to find out the current height of each HTML page(or chapter) and hence calculate the distance to be scrolled. How can i find out the height of content of HTML page dynamically ? Thank you for the answer....

  • XAML ContextMenu gets bound to wrong row in a DataGrid

    - by Simon_Weaver
I have a XAML based ContextMenu bound to the rows in a datagrid. It works just fine - until the grid is scrolled! This is the context menu for one of the controls in the visual tree or a DataGrid row. <data:DataGridTemplateColumn Header="Customer Details" Width="*"> <data:DataGridTemplateColumn.CellTemplate> <DataTemplate> <Grid Background="Transparent"> <!-- allows click in entire cell --> <controlsInputToolkit:ContextMenuService.ContextMenu> <controlsInputToolkit:ContextMenu> <controlsInputToolkit:MenuItem Header="{Binding CompletedOrderId,StringFormat='Create Reminder for order #\{0\}'}" CommandParameter="{Binding}"> <controlsInputToolkit:MenuItem.Command> <command:CreateReminderCommand/> </controlsInputToolkit:MenuItem.Command> <controlsInputToolkit:MenuItem.Icon> <Viewbox> <Image Width="19" Height="18" Source="../images/reminders.png" VerticalAlignment="Center"/> </Viewbox> </controlsInputToolkit:MenuItem.Icon> </controlsInputToolkit:MenuItem> <controlsInputToolkit:ContextMenu> <controlsInputToolkit:ContextMenuService.ContextMenu> ...... The ICommand is CreateReminderCommand and the CommandParameter is bound to the data item for the row itself. This works just fine - I can right click on a row and it will show me the correct text in the menu item 'Create Reminder for order 12345'. Then I scroll the datagrid down a page. If I keep right clicking on items then suddenly I'll see the wrong order number for a row. I think what must be happening is this : The DataGrid is reusing instances of MenuItem that it has previously created. How can I force a refresh of the ContextMenu when it is displayed for an item that changes? There's no 'Update method on the ContextMenu or ContextMenuService.

  • jQuery Autocomplete Json Ajax cross browser issue with Google Search Appliance

    - by skyfoot
I am implementing a jquery autocomplete on a search form and am getting the suggestions from the Google Search Appliance Autocomple suggestions service which returns a result set in json. What I am trying to do is go off to the GSA to get suggestions when the user types something in the search box. The url to get the json suggestions is as follows: http://gsaurl/suggest?q=<query>&max=10&site=default_site&client=default_frontend&access=p&format=rich The json which is returned is as follows: { "query":"re", "results": [ {"name":"red", "type":"suggest"}, {"name":"read", "type":"suggest"}] } The jQuery autocomplete code is as follows: $(#q).autocomplete(searchUrl, { width: 320, dataType: 'json', highlight: false, scroll: true, scrollHeight: 300, parse: function(data) { var array = new Array(); for(var i=0;i<data.results.length;i++) { array[i] = { data: data.results[i], value: data.results[i].name, result: data.results[i].name }; } return array; }, formatItem: function(row) { return row.name; } }); This works in IE but fails in firefox as the data returned in the parse function is null. Any ideas why this would be the case? Workaround I created an aspx page to call the GSA suggest service and to return the json from the suggest service. Using this page as a proxy and setting it as the url in the jQuery autocomplete worked in both IE and FireFox.

  • Why would javascript click-areas not be working in IE8?

    - by Edward Tanguay
I'm trying to find a bug in an old ASP.NET application which causes IE8 to not be able to click on the following "button" area in our application: <td width="150px" class="ctl00_CP1_UiCommandManager1i toolBarItem" valign="middle" onmouseout="onMouseOverCommand(this,1,'ctl00_CP1_UiCommandManager1',0,0);" onmouseover="onMouseOverCommand(this,0,'ctl00_CP1_UiCommandManager1',0,0);" onmousedown="onMouseDownCommand(this, 'ctl00_CP1_UiCommandManager1', 0, 0);" onmouseup="onMouseUpCommand(this, 'ctl00_CP1_UiCommandManager1', 0, 0);" id="ctl00_CP1_UiCommandManager1_0_0"> <span style="width:100%;overflow:hidden;text-overflow:ellipsis;vertical-align:middle;white-space:nowrap;"> NEW </span> </td> When we switch IE8 to IE7 compatibility mode, the problem disappears, IE7 is able to click on it. Since the above HTML is generated by a third party control (Janus, http://www.janusys.com/controls), we don't have the source code. has anyone experienced any similar problems with IE8? I've determined that it actually fires the onMouseDownCommand command also the CSS of the button area is different in IE8, it doesn't have color shading that it does in IE7. I can imagine that somewhere the HTML is not valid and IE8 being stricter is not playing along, but where? any advice on how to narrow in on this bug welcome ANSWER: Turned out to be that the application was not checking the navigator.agent for "MSIE 8.0" and was thus treating IE8 has a non-Internet-Explorer browser. Thanks Lazarus for the tip, the IE8 Javascript debugger is very nice, like a Firebug for IE, will be using it more!

  • UIScrollView notifications

    - by ryyst
Hi, I'm coding an app that works much like Apple's Weather.app: There's a UIPageControl at the bottom and a UIScrollView in the middle of the screen. In my code, I implemented the - (void)scrollViewDidEndDecelerating:(UIScrollView *)scrollView method to figure out when the user did move to a new page. If they move to a new page, I load the adjacent pages' data, as to make further page-switching faster. (In one of Apple's examples, the - (void)scrollViewDidScroll:(UIScrollView *)sender is used, but that causes my app to shortly hang when loading a new page, so it's not suitable.) That code works very well. I'm using scrollRectToVisible:: to programmatically scroll inside the scrollview when the user clicks the UIPageControl. The problem is that the scrollRectToVisible: doesn't post a notification to the UIScrollViewDelegate when it's done scrolling - so the code responsible for loading adjacent pages never get's called when using the UIPageControl. Is there any way to make the UIScrollView notify its delegate when it gets called by the scrollRectToVisible: method? Or will I have to use threads in order to prevent my app from freezing? Thanks! -- Ry

  • Linq to find pair of points with longest length?

    - by Chris
I have the following code: foreach (Tuple<Point, Point> pair in pointsCollection) { var points = new List<Point>() { pair.Value1, pair.Value2 }; } Within this foreach, I would like to be able to determine which pair of points has the most significant length between the coordinates for each point within the pair. So, let's say that points are made up of the following pairs: (1) var points = new List<Point>() { new Point(0,100), new Point(100,100) }; (2) var points = new List<Point>() { new Point(150,100), new Point(200,100) }; So I have two sets of pairs, mentioned above. They both will plot a horizontal line. I am interested in knowing what the best approach would be to find the pair of points that have the greatest distance between, them, whether it is vertically or horizontally. In the two examples above, the first pair of points has a difference of 100 between the X coordinate, so that would be the point with the most significant difference. But if I have a collection of pairs of points, where some points will plot a vertical line, some points will plot a horizontal line, what would be the best approach for retrieving the pair from the set of points whose difference, again vertically or horizontally, is the greatest among all of the points in the collection? Thanks! Chris

  • Android accessibility focus - clicking a view changes focus to previous view

  • Changing text of TextView -- old text doesn't go away (Android 4.1.2)

I'm pretty new to Android development. Trying to accomplish something fairly simple -- change some displayed text when a timer ticks. Here's the potentially relevant code: CountDownTimer currentTimer; Resources res; TextView timerText; @Override protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.activity_exercise); res = getResources(); timerText = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.timer_text); } @Override protected void onStart() { super.onStart(); //"Get ready" countdown currentTimer = new CountDownTimer(5000, 1000) { @Override public void onTick(long millisUntilFinished) { timerText.setText("" + (int)Math.ceil(millisUntilFinished / 1000.0)); } @Override public void onFinish() { ... } }; currentTimer.start(); } This works fine on an emulated 4.2.2 device, but on a 4.1.2 device (both physical and emulated), the changed TextView appears as such while the countdown proceeds: If you can't tell, that's the numbers 5,4,3 overlayed. So, when I set a new string for the TextView, the new string is displayed but without replacing the old string. Any other TextViews used in my app behave in the same way. Any ideas what the problem is and how to fix it? Edit: From the XML layout file: <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools" tools:context=".ExerciseActivity" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="match_parent" android:gravity="center" android:keepScreenOn="true" android:orientation="vertical" > ... <TextView android:id="@+id/timer_text" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_weight="1" android:textIsSelectable="false" android:hint="@string/timer_default" /> ... </LinearLayout> That's all that could be relevant.

  • Hibernate ScrollableResults Do Not Return The Whole Set of Results

    - by mlaverd
Some of the queries we run have 100'000+ results and it takes forever to load them and then send them to the client. So I'm using ScrollableResults to have a paged results feature. But we're topping at roughly 50k results (never exactly the same amount of results). I'm on an Oracle9i database, using the Oracle 10 drivers and Hibernate is configured to use the Oracle9 dialect. I tried with the latest JDBC driver (ojdbc6.jar) and the problem was reproduced. We also followed some advice and added an ordering clause, but the problem was reproduced. Here is a code snippet that illustrates what we do: Criteria crit = sess.createCriteria(ABC.class); crit.add(Restrictions.eq("property", value)); crit.setFetchSize(pageSize); crit.addOrder(Order.asc("property")); ScrollableResults sr = crit.scroll(); ... ... do{ for (Object entry : page) sess.evict(entry); //to avoid having our memory just explode out of proportion page.clear(); for (int i =0 ; i < pageSize && ! metLastRow; i++){ if (resultSet.next()) page.add(sr.get(0)); else metLastRow = true; } metLastRow = metLastRow?metLastRow:sr.isLast(); sendToClient(page); }while(!metLastRow); So, why is it that I get the result set to tell me its at the end when it should be having so much more results?

  • Navigation view system with webview problem with touches!

    - by Gonçalo Falcão
Hello i have search everything and i didn't figure this out! I have a tab bar controller with 5 navigation controlls, in one of the navigation control, i have a view, with a table view inside, and when i click that item i push a new view, that view have view -webview -view i create that second view(is transperant) because i need to handle a single tap to hide my toolbar and navigation bar, and the webview was eating all the touches! I put that view and implement on the view controller -(void) touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event{ UITouch* touch = [touches anyObject]; if(touch.tapCount == 2){ [NSObject cancelPreviousPerformRequestsWithTarget:self]; } [[wv.subviews objectAtIndex:0] touchesBegan:touches withEvent:event]; [super touchesBegan:touches withEvent:event]; } -(void) touchesMoved:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event{ [[wv.subviews objectAtIndex:0] touchesMoved:touches withEvent:event]; [super touchesMoved:touches withEvent:event]; } -(void) touchesEnded:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event{ UITouch* touch = [touches anyObject]; if(touch.tapCount == 1){ [self performSelector:@selector(hideBars) withObject:nil afterDelay:0.3]; } [[wv.subviews objectAtIndex:0] touchesEnded:touches withEvent:event]; [super touchesEnded:touches withEvent:event]; } -(void) touchesCancelled:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event{ [[wv.subviews objectAtIndex:0] touchesCancelled:touches withEvent:event]; [super touchesCancelled:touches withEvent:event]; } wv is my UIWebView IBOutlet now i can get the the touches in my controller and send them to my webview. So i thought everything was working, i'm able to scroll, but now when i have links i'm not able to click them. And the webview is detecting the links i have made that test. So any other way to implements this to get the touches in the links, or i should change this workaround to hide the toolbars so i can have the full functionability of the webview? Thks for the help in advance.

  • How to display a subview loaded from a separate NIB file

    - by Marcus Netter
I'm developing a Cocoa desktop application that uses a source list in the style of iTunes: different elements in the source list cause the main content area to display different views. The content area is entirely filled with a (vertical) NSSplitView; on the left is an NSOutlineView source list. When the user selects an item on the left, the relevant view appears on the right side of the splitter. I can make it work well enough by putting everything in one NIB file and putting a borderless NSTabView to the right of the splitter; to switch views, I just have to change the selected tab. But putting all the views in one NIB is bad practice, so I'm trying to move each of the subviews into their own NIB files. I have a pretty good idea of most of this process — I've created an NSViewController subclass for each of these views (EntityDetailViewController, GroupDetailViewController, and so on), set the File's Owner of each new NIB to the relevant controller class, set the view connection in each NIB, and reworked the bindings. What I don't know is how to actually change which subview is being shown on screen. I've tried using the default generic NSView on the right side and sending it addSubview: messages; I've tried connecting to it as the first subview and calling NSView *newSubview = /* get subview from the new subview controller */ [[subview superview] replaceSubview:subview with:newSubview]; [self setSubview:newSubview]; But everything just leaves the space blank. How do I display a subview loaded from a separate NIB?
