  • How do I profile in DrScheme?

    - by kunjaan
How Do I profile my functions using DrScheme? (require profile) (define (factorial n) (cond ((= n 1) 1) (else (* n (factorial (- n 1)))))) (profile factorial) The above code returns Profiling results ----------------- Total cpu time observed: 0ms (out of 0ms) Number of samples taken: 0 (once every 0ms) ==================================== Caller Idx Total Self Name+srcLocal% ms(pct) ms(pct) Callee ==================================== > I tried: - (profile (factorial 100)) - (profile factorial) (factorial 100) But it gives me the same result. What am I doing wrong?

  • What's a good library for parsing mathematical expressions in java?

    - by CSharperWithJava
I'm an Android Developer and as part of my next app I will need to evaluate a large variety of user created mathematical expressions and equations. I am looking for a good java library that is lightweight and can evaluate mathematical expressions using user defined variables and constants, trig and exponential functions, etc. I've looked around and Jep seems to be popular, but I would like to hear more suggestions, especially from people who have used these libraries before.

  • Function lfit in numerical recipes, providing a test function

    - by Simon Walker
Hi I am trying to fit collected data to a polynomial equation and I found the lfit function from Numerical Recipes. I only have access to the second edition, so am using that. I have read about the lfit function and its parameters, one of which is a function pointer, given in the documentation as void (*funcs)(float, float [], int)) with the help The user supplies a routine funcs(x,afunc,ma) that returns the ma basis functions evaluated at x = x in the array afunc[1..ma]. I am struggling to understand how this lfit function works. An example function I found is given below: void fpoly(float x, float p[], int np) /*Fitting routine for a polynomial of degree np-1, with coe?cients in the array p[1..np].*/ { int j; p[1]=1.0; for (j=2;j<=np;j++) p[j]=p[j-1]*x; } When I run through the source code for the lfit function in gdb I can see no reference to the funcs pointer. When I try and fit a simple data set with the function, I get the following error message. Numerical Recipes run-time error... gaussj: Singular Matrix ...now exiting to system... Clearly somehow a matrix is getting defined with all zeroes. I am going to involve this function fitting in a large loop so using another language is not really an option. Hence why I am planning on using C/C++. For reference, the test program is given here: int main() { float x[5] = {0., 0., 1., 2., 3.}; float y[5] = {0., 0., 1.2, 3.9, 7.5}; float sig[5] = {1., 1., 1., 1., 1.}; int ndat = 4; int ma = 4; /* parameters in equation */ float a[5] = {1, 1, 1, 0.1, 1.5}; int ia[5] = {1, 1, 1, 1, 1}; float **covar = matrix(1, ma, 1, ma); float chisq = 0; lfit(x,y,sig, ndat,a,ia,ma,covar,&chisq, fpoly); printf("%f\n", chisq); free_matrix(covar, 1, ma, 1, ma); return 0; } Also confusing the issue, all the Numerical Recipes functions are 1 array-indexed so if anyone has corrections to my array declarations let me know also! Cheers

  • Get sum of two columns in one LINQ query

    - by Axarydax
Hi, let's say that I have a table called Items (ID int, Done int, Total int) I can do it by two queries: int total = m.Items.Sum(p=>p.Total) int done = m.Items.Sum(p=>p.Done) But I'd like to do it in one query, something like this: var x = from p in m.Items select new { Sum(p.Total), Sum(p.Done)}; Surely there is a way to call aggregate functions from LINQ syntax...?

  • Gridview - Is it necessary to grab data from database every time a filter, sort, or paging event occ

    - by hamlin11
Regarding gridviews that are not bound to a Data Source Control: In most GridView tutorials that I have seen, when just about any GridView event occurs, the end of the event handler will include BindDataGrid(). In some form, these BindDataGrid() functions 1) Grab data from the database 2) Assign any Filter or Sort expressions to the data, and 3) Bind the gridview to that data source (usually a DataView or DataTable. Is there a better way to provide filterable & sortable data to a GridView without having to hit the database so often? Thanks

  • How to define an alias in fish shell?

    - by armandino
I would like to define some aliases in fish. Apparently it should be possible to define them in ~/.config/fish/functions but they don't get auto loaded when I restart the shell. Any ideas? p.s. if anyone is using or has used fish in the past I'd be interested to hear your comments as to whether it offers anything that bash does not.

  • missing .cs files in precompiled website with c# in asp.net

    - by Greg
Hi, I need to change the code of some asp.net application but the application is missing its .cs files, there are only .aspx files. As I read in google, I understand that the application is a precompiled website. I am not too familiar with it so the question is, can I somehow retrieve the code-behind .cs files of this application because I need to change some functions there. Surely there is a way I can access them or retrieve them somehow? Thanks in advance, Greg

  • Reading Resource Files from my own APK in Android Native Environment

    - by Kyle
I'm porting to Android. My existing project has a ton of resource files that I'm porting into my Android project. I have them all in /res/raw/, and I would like to access those resources in my native library with functions such as fopen() and such. Can this be done, or do I have to go through JNI for this as well? I would really prefer not to, for ease of porting and possible speed and memory reasons.

  • jQuery Adding DOM Elements

    - by Aren B
    This may be a simple answer, but I'm trying to add a dom-created element (i.e. document.createElement(...)) to a jQuery Selector. jQuery has a great assortment of functions for adding html .html(htmlString) .append(htmlString) .prepend(htmlString) But what i want to do is add a dom OBJECT var myFancyDiv = document.createElement("div"); myFancyDiv.setAttribute("id", "FancyDiv"); // This is the theoretical function im looking for. $("#SomeOtherDiv").htmlDom(myFancyDiv);

  • How to compile libsox with MinGW

    - by kaykun
Hi, I'm trying to use libsox into another program of mine, but I can't seem to compile libsox with MinGW or find any places with working binaries. I downloaded the source from the official site http://sox.sourceforge.net/ but I don't know which files to include in the project to compile it. I can't compile it with all the files included in the 'src' directory and I think I only need to compile the functions listed here: http://sox.sourceforge.net/libsox.html but I can't seem to find it. Can anyone help?

  • Naming Suggestions For A Function Providing Method Chaining In A Different Way

    - by sid3k
I've coded an experimental function which makes passed objects chainable by using high order functions. It's name is "chain" for now, and here is a usage example; chain("Hello World") (print) // evaluates print function by passing "Hello World" object. (console.log,"Optional","Parameters") (returnfrom) // returns "Hello World" It looks lispy but behaves very different since it's coded in a C based language, I don't know if there is a name for this idiom and I couldn't any name more suitable than "chain". Any ideas, suggestions?

  • Debugging site written mainly in JScript with AJAX code injection

    - by blumidoo
Hello, I have a legacy code to maintain and while trying to understand the logic behind the code, I have run into lots of annoying issues. The application is written mainly in Java Script, with extensive usage of jQuery + different plugins, especially Accordion. It creates a wizard-like flow, where client code for the next step is downloaded in the background by injecting a result of a remote AJAX request. It also uses callbacks a lot and pretty complicated "by convention" programming style (lots of events handlers are created on the fly based on certain object names - e.g. current page name, current step name). Adding to that, the code is very messy and there is no obvious inner structure - the functions are scattered in the code, file names do not reflect the business role of the code, lots of functions and code snippets are most likely not used at all etc. PROBLEM: How to approach this code base, so that the inner flow of the code can be sort-of "reverse engineered" using a suite of smart debugging tools. Ideally, I would like to be able to attach to the running application and step through the code, breaking on each new function call. Also, it would be nice to be able to create a "diagram of calls" in the application (i.e. in order to run a particular page logic, this particular flow of function calls was executed in a particular order). Not to mention to be able to run a coverage analysis, identifying potentially orphaned code fragments. I would like to stress out once more, that it is impossible to understand the inner logic of the application just by looking at the code itself, unless you have LOTS of spare time and beer crates, which I unfortunately do not have :/ (shame...) An IDE of some sort that would aid in extending that code would be also great, but I am currently looking into possibility to use Visual Studio 2010 to do the job, as the site itself is a mix of Classic ASP and ASP.NET (I'd say - 70% Java Script with jQuery, 30% ASP). I have obviously tried FireBug, but I was unable to find a way to define a breakpoint or step into the code, which is "injected" into the client JS using AJAX calls (i.e. the application retrieves the code by invoking an URL and injects it to the client local code). Venkman debugger had similar issues. Any hints would be welcome. Feel free to ask additional questions.
