Any way of working with Eclipse WTP that does not mean redeploying the _WHOLE_ application when a J

I have migrated a Web Application from MyEclipse to Eclipse WTP, and I am now in the middle of the first major upgrade to the code base and web pages after the migration, and it is frankly driving me mad that saving a JSP page causes a redeployment of the WHOLE application, as it takes time and that my backend connection does not survive the serialization-deserialization of the session object (which is non-trivial to fix). In addition to that the JSP-editor is insanely slow so I frequently have to pause to let the editor catch up to be certain where my edits go in a small JSP using JavaServer Faces. Disabling validation did not help. The Eclipse Dynamic Web Project depends on several library eclipse projects so I cannot just tell e.g. Jetty to use the WebRoot folder, as several dependencies are then missing from the classpath. The question is: Is there a way of working - ANY way of working - with the Eclipse WTP system that does NOT imply redeploying everything every time any file is saved? I can use Tomcat 5.5 or Jetty 6 as servers.

DataBinding and ErrorProvider - How to provide custom error messages?

We use BusinessObjects, implementing IDataErrorInfo and IEditableObject. BindingLists with those Objects are added to BindingSources, those are used to bind UserControls and DataGrids on the forms (WinForms). The BindingSource is additionally set as DataSource to the ErrorProvider of the form. We do use currently TextBoxes for Properties of Type int and short. They are validated inside the BusinessObjects with custom validation, like min/max values, etc. That works fine, since error message form our custom validations show up nicely next to the TextBox. However, if the input is greater than the value of an int (e.g. "9999999999") the BindingSource doesn't even try to enter that Value into the BusinesObject but instead gives the errormessage to the errorprovider like "The value for Int32 was too big.". We do not want to bother our users with "Int32" but want a custom errormessage for that. It is nice, that the BindingSource does provide this feature, but is it possible to provide custom error messages for this?

Chrome is leaking memory, when jQuery is used on events?

Hi, I'm experiencing an increase of memory usage, when I use the jQuery-eventhandling in Chrome. I've tested it with IE and FF as well, but there I couldn't see a suspicious rise of memory-usage, compared to Chrome. I'm using Chrome version 4.0.223.16 (unfortunately I'm forced to use this version, here) Simple example here. How can I clear the cache in an Outlook client pro grammatically?

I am executing the following routine often in order to clear the local cache of many Outlook clients (Outlook 2003) in order to fix corrupted Forms stored on the users local drive. On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Other tab. Click Advanced Options. In the Advanced Options box, click Custom Forms. In the Custom Forms box, click Manage Forms. In the Forms Manager box, click Clear Cache. Is there a way I can program this to occur on the local client? I am looking for a solution that could be included in Outlooks VBScript in order to include it in yet another 'Organizational Forms Library' Forms client side validation code. Would this question better fit Server Fault Stack Exchange via an admin script/tool?

Mac vs. Windows Browser Font Height Rendering Issue

I'm using a custom font and the @font-face tag. In Windows, everything looks great, regardless of whether it's Firefox, Chrome, or IE. On Mac, it's a different story. For some reason, the Mac font renderer thinks the font is a lot shorter than it is. If you look at what it is selecting, you'll see that that part has been centered, instead of the full height of the font. Is there anyway to fix this rather large discrepancy?

.net c# text box date with mask - setup

I have a c# .net project and want an input text box for a date value. I want it to display a default value of mm/dd/yyyy and then allow users to enter valid dates. I have tried using a masked text box but it doesn't like having the above format. If i try and use //__ looks naff and so does 00/00/0000 and of course if you put in '0' like 03/11/2009 you get 3/11/29 because the 0's are deleted as part of the mask - so what is the best way to set up an input box like this, effectively with a mask, only allowing numbers, and validation (though at this point I am not so worried about that). This seems so simple and isn't. Thanks, R.

Internet Explorer table 1 pixel spacing problem

I've found a strange problem with Internet Explorer related to table spacing and cannot find a way to work around it. An empty table results in a single pixel white space with Internet Explorer (6 and 7, 8 not yet tested), while all other browsers ignore the empty table. The next element that I put after the navigation bar is placed to the right of it. How can I align the next element so that it is displayed below? rails validate_format_of non-negative integers

Hi, I am trying to validate the format of non-negative integers with the following validates_format_of :fundays, :with => /\A[\d]+\Z/, :message => "invalid fundays" And here is the form field used in the view <%= f.text_field :fundays, :maxlength => 3, :style => 'width:50px;' %> However, when I input a non-digit into this field and submit the form, it does not fail the validation. Instead it saves a value of 0 in the database. How do I make it write to the list of error messages. thanks

jquery.tokeninput required

I have this fantastic little plugin working but I need to require that at least one name be selected. I normally use jquery.validate. However, the validation plugin does not appear to work on a field using the tokeninput. Does anyone have an answer? Selenium: How to enter white space as the value of a text field?

I have a form text field that is being populated with a default value. I would like to clear the value and enter white space to assert that the expected validation occurs. I am using Selenium RC and the PHPUnit Selenium extension. How can I achieve this? Note: I have already tried doing these, but they do not work: $this->type('FirstName', " "); //spaces $this->type('FirstName', "\t"); //tab character They clear the value from the field, but they do not enter the white space into the field.

Java XML Output - proper indenting for child items

Hello, I'd like to serialize some simple data model into xml, I've been using the standard java.org.w3c -related code (see below), the indentation is better than no "OutputKeys.INDENT", yet there is one little thing that remains - proper indentation for child elements. I know that this has been asked before on stackoverflow , yet that configuration did not work for me, this is the code I'm using : DocumentBuilderFactory factory = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance(); DocumentBuilder builder = factory.newDocumentBuilder(); Document doc = builder.newDocument(); doc = addItemsToDocument(doc); // The addItemsToDocument method adds childElements to the document. Interrupting Prototype handler, alert() vs event.stop()

Here's the test page I'm using. With an alert in the handler: var fn = function() { alert("omg!"); } The form is not submitted. This is awfully curious. With event.stop(), which is supposed to prevent the browser taking the default action: var fn = function(event) { event.stop(); } We are sent to #fail. So alert() is more effective at preventing a submission than event.stop(). What gives? I'm using Firefox 3.6.3 and Prototype 1.6.0.3. This behaviour also appears in Prototype 1.6.1.

Make a connection to a HTTPS server from Java and ignore the validity of the security certificate

I've been testing some that works with a bunch of https servers with different keys, some of which are invalid and all of them are not in the local key store for my JVM. I am really only testing things out, so I don't care about the security at this stage. Is there a good way to make POST calls to the server and tell Java not to worry about the security certificates? My google searches for this have brought up some code examples that make a class to do the validation, that always works, but I cannot get it to connect to any of the servers.

How can I have a serializable struct that wraps it's self as an int32 implicitly? in C#?

Long story short, I have a struct (see below) that contains exactly one field: private int value; I've also implemented implicit conversion operators: public static implicit operator int(Outlet val) { return val.value; } public static implicit operator Outlet(int val) { return new Outlet(val); } I've implemented all of the following : IComparable, IComparable<Cart>, IComparable<int>, IConvertible, IEquatable<Cart>, IEquatable<int>, IFormattable I'm at a point where I really have no clue why, but whenever I serialize this object, I get no value. For instance, with XmlSerialization: <Outlet /> Also, I'm not solely concerned about XmlSerialization, I'm concerned about ALL serialization (binary for instance) How can I ensure that this serializes properly? NOTE: I did this because mapping an int,int dictionary seemed rather poorly typed to me when explicit objects with validation behavior were desired.

This regx does not work only in Chrome

Hi i just put up a validation function in jScript to validate filename in fileupload control[input type file]. The function seems to work fine in FF and sometimes in ie but never in Chrome. Basically the function tests if File name is atleast 1 char upto 25 characters long.Contains only valid characters,numbers [no spaces] and are of file types in the list. How to remove one instance of one string in PHP?

I have a open source editor on the cms that I am making that automatically inserts a <br /> tag at the beginning of the post it submits to the database. This makes validation a pain, since even though there is no real text being submitted, the form still accepts the break tag as input and prevents the "Please enter some text" error from showing. So I tried to remove the opening break tag by filtering my input like this: substr($_POST['content'], 6); This works as long as the user doesn't press the backspace a couple of times which removes the break tag in which case the first 8 characters of the post gets removed even if they are not a break tag. So how can I remove the first 6 characters of the input ONLY if those first 6 characters are composed of the break tag. Also I don't want to remove all break tags, only the one at the very beginning of the post.

First of all, is the XML correct? Is the path expressed correctly? Second of all, why is this error occurring on one computer but not on another?

Prevent TEXTAREAs scroll by themselves on IE8

IE8 has a known bug (per connect.microsoft.com) where typing or pasting text into a TEXTAREA element will cause the textarea to scroll by itself. This is hugely annoying and shows up in many community sites, including Wikipedia. The repro is this: open the HTML below with IE8 (or use any long page on wikipedia which will exhibit the same problem until they fix it) size the browser full-screen paste a few pages of text into the TEXTAREA move the scrollbar to the middle position now type one character into the textarea Expected: nothing happens Actual: scrossing happens on its own, and the insertion point ends up near the bottom of the textarea! What is the best PHP framework for building a website around a heavily relational PostgreSQL databas

First of all, the framework of choice needs to have excellent support for PostgreSQL. I don't care about MySQL because it doesn't have half of the features the application I will be porting requires. (And when I say excellent support, I mean that their approach to database drivers has not been solely trained in MySQL). The ideal framework: Should take full advantage of PHP 5.3 and PostgreSQL 8.4 features Should support new technologies such as OpenID and social networking Should support complex relationships between database relations Should have an intelligent validation system Should have a basic library of helpful views (such as pagination, navigation, etc) Should probably be MVC based Should have excellent documentation and an active development community Should namespace classes intelligently What I'm looking for might be more of a library of utilities, as I really don't want to be restricted by the framework in what I can and can not do. I have my own small library of core classes that take care of business logic, and I will most likely want to integrate those with the new framework as well. Thanks!
