I want to use the f.label method to create my form element labels, however - i want to have the form element nested inside the label. Is this possible? -- From W3C -- To associate a label with another control implicitly, the control element must be within the contents of the LABEL element. In this case, the LABEL may only contain one control element. The label itself may be positioned before or after the associated control. spring json writes more json then i want

I am using the json spring view in order to return a simple JSON object from my controller. The problem is that its returning more data then i want. it is returning the validation errors and things inside of my model when all i am doing is this in the controller: Map model = new HashMap() model.put("success", "true"); return new ModelAndView("jsonView", model); If you look at the bottom of this page in the docs it looks like i am getting back data that POST would return. i am not doing a post, i am doing a GET by going directly to the URL with params. How do i get this lib to return just the data in my model?

Clean up State field with T-SQL?

The State field in our database is a mess. There was no validation when it was filled so we have everything from two letter abbreviations to full state names to misspelled state names to "test" and "xxxx", etc. I am not going to try to handle everything, but for sure I want to fix the correct state names to abbreviations. I have a list of valid state names and abbreviations, but I don't know how I can do this: UPDATE Table SET State = ('AR','AK') WHERE (SELECT * FROM Table WHERE State IN ('Arkansas','Alaska')) Basically, can I update a field to be something from a list by the location it is in another list?

Call function in query in Entity framework 3.5

Hello All: I am trying to run following query in entity framework 3.5 var test = from e in customers where IsValid(e) select e; Here IsValid function takes current customer and validate against some conditions and returns false or true. But when I am trying to run the query it is giving error "LINQ Method cannot be translated into a store expression." Can any body tell me any other approach? IE6 transparency+radio button can't be clicked

IE6: when I place a partially transparent image in a div, the radio buttons in that div that overlap the non-transparent pixels of the image become unclickable. How to automatically email customers registration keys?

I've written a bit of software that I'd like to share with others (a Mac Dashboard widget, specifically), but I'd also like to be compensated a bit for the time I spent on it. I've devised my own simple registration key algorithm, which takes a customer's email address and creates a 12-character alphanumeric key. The software itself is finished, demo limitations, key validation & all. I just need to get the keys to customers. How do I simply alert a key generation script to automatically email a customer a key, upon notification that they paid my account? Can I use PayPal IPN & JavaScript? The simplest solution will do - this is a five dollar widget. :)

Cannot see response body in ie8 when response http status code is set to some error code(422)

I am making a requset to a web service that sends custom error with proper HTTP header when I notice some validation error, this works fine in chrome and mozilla as things always do and then it broke in ie8 as it always does! After checking the network activity, I see that ie8 is not able to get response body when HTTP code is other that 200(or at-least it seems so). In groovy I am returning error like : render(status: 422, contentType: 'TEXT', text: ((errors as JSON) as String)) Is there a way I could somehow get ie8 to read in the response body, or as an alternative I might be able to set response header but before trying that I was wondering if you guys have already seen this issue and know a solution to it. Software protection

I want to protect my software from being used without permission. I will provide it for free to the parties I authorize to use it. Anyone knows a good protection scheme against having it copied and run by unauthorized parties ? So far, I thought about introducing a key validation mechanism: periodically, the user needs to send me (web site query) a code based on which I generate a new code that app validates against. There is an initial code, and so I can track users... Thoughts ? Later edit: I changed the licensing part to avoid unfocused discussion.

Range annotation between nothing and 100?

Hi I have a [Range] annotation that looks like this: [Range(0, 100)] public int AvailabilityGoal { get; set; } It works as it should, I can only enter values between 0 and 100 but I also want the input box to be optional, the user shouldn't get an validation error if the input box is empty. If the user leaves it empty it should make AvailabilityGoal = 0 but I don't want to force the user to enter a zero. I tried this but it (obviously) didn't work: [Range(typeof(int?), null, "100")] Is it possible to solve this with Data Annotations or in some other way? Thanks in advance. Bobby

How can I intercept Drupal User Registration after it has passed all validations?

Hi, I am using Drupal 6.16 In the user registration module, I want to hook in AFTER all validations have been made and the row is about to be inserted. Here, I want to run my business logic. If my business logic fails, the drupal registration should be stopped. I can do this by setting an error in the form. If it succeeds, drupal registration SHOULD proceed and complete. I decided to use the validate operation in hook_user. But it is possible for drupal registration to be stopped at the validation phase itself, by some other module that is run after mine. What I want is, when my business logic succeeds, the drupal registration MUST succeed. Which hook and operation should I use so that I can intercept just before the drupal user info insert/update and after all validations have succeeded?

Is there a good Open Source xml ide?

I've looked around, and I'm surprised that I can't find an Open Source equivalent to Oxygen or XMLSpy. i.e. A rich XML editor with support for diverse types of validation, XSLT debugging and profiling, and all the other extra bits that make it more than just a text editor with syntax highlighting. I've seen a few (like Jaxe), that that offer different ways to edit xml documents, but nothing that rolls it all up into an IDE-like application. I'm sure this means I've missed some very worthy project. Can anyone point me towards such a thing?

Multiple Post Requests Occuring in Quick Succession

This is a bit of an open ended question but we have a problem with a web application that on the final step of completing an order, multiple post requests are being made, sometimes up to 10 and all within a couple of seconds to the page. Theirs nothing unusual about the page, the user fills out a form which is then validated using the jQuery form validation plugin. We've seen this behavior exhibited over a couple of different browser types, notably IE6 but also IE8. We've also managed to trigger the bug ourselves but nothing out of the ordinary seems to occur on the browsers end, everything progresses as normal. Apache logs show that multiple post requests where made at the same time and the Rails logs show that multiple posts requests were also received by the application, leading me to think it's a problem with the browser. I've exhausted all avenues that I can think of for debugging so I'm throwing this out there to see if anyone has some ideas of what we could try or look for next.

I have some fairly complex ajax logic etc going on in the onValidationComplete function for a form with jQuery Validation Engine. This is working perfect, but one thing is bothering me. in the form I have the ability to dynamically add inputs (add new row button). so my code structure wise looks like: var form = $('#myForm'); form.validationEngine('attach', {onValidationComplete:validationComplete}); $('#newInput').on('click', function(){ form.append('<input />'); form.validationEngine('detach'); form.validationEngine('attach', {onValidationComplete:validationComplete}); }); function validationComplete(form, status){/*all my logic here*/} What I don't like about it is that every time I add a new input I have to detach and then re-attach the validationEngine. Is there any way to just tell it to add the new input to it's list of inputs to validate?

Bypassing Browser popup blocking when automatic session timout occurs

Hi all, Please help regarding the following issue. I have enabled the "Block popup" option in browser. We are doing a session validation using a background ajax call to check the session is active or not. If the session is not active for a desired interval a popup window will come for notification. Now comming to the problem . since the session notification popup is comming automatically without any client interaction, This popup is blocked by the browser. But if a client clicks anyother popup window in the form that popup window will not be blocked by the browser.

How to make an AJAX call immediately on document loading

I want to execute an ajax call as soon as a document is loaded. What I am doing is loading a string that contains data that I will use for an autocomplete feature. This is what I have done, but it is not calling the servlet. I have removed the calls to the various JS scripts to make it clearer. IE7 modal dialog scrollbars overlap content

I absolutely must use the IE modal dialog, I'm not at liberty to change that.

HTML: Nesting DIVs problem

I am coding a form generator. So far, so good, then I decided to give it a real test. I made a form with some nested each holding a few controls. I will post the HTML at the end. If you load it into a browser, it renders, but is obviously wrong. I had previously tested using the W3C validator and things were fine, but that was for non nested. Intended function: require user to select an option from the drop down menu. After user clicks submit button, validate if an option is selected. Display error message and not submit the form if user fails to select. Otherwise submit the form. Problem: After select an option, button has to be clicked twice to submit the form.
