  I have a stored procedure on a busy database which constantly come out top in the list of expensive queries (by some way). The query is very simple, it takes a single parameter (@ID, int) which is the primary key of the table, and selects the record that matches that ID. The primary key is an identity field with a clustered index, so I am stumped as to how to optimise this any further? What i want is that i want to retrieve the complete friendlist for user example1. I want to pull out names from users table for corresponding output from previous query to display as friendlist.

  Ok this is driving me nuts, I need to write an SQL query that will grab product information from 2 tables. The first table 'products' contains the productId, productname, quantityperunit and unitprice.   Hello, I have some users setup in a MySQL table with different variables. I am trying to figure out what would be the best way to do this. Basically I want to award all of my registered and active users with bids which are stored in another table. So for the Table "users" I have ran this query: SELECT * FROM users WHERE active = 1 AND admin = 0 ORDER BY users.id ASC Which will show all active users who are not administrators. Now I would like to give each one of these users which are identified by the "ID" field in another table. So in the "bids" table I would need to add a new row for each one of those users with all of the same values except for the "user_id" field which will basically match the "id" field of the table "users" What would be the best approach for this. There are approximately 6,000+ users coming up in the first query. Please be gentle as I am not a programmer. Just need some friendly advice.

I have tried creating individual indexes for the impressionObjectId1 and impressionObjectId2 columns, as well as a composite index using both. The composite worked well for a while, but now it is also slow. • Scripting an automated SQLServer 2008 DR move

  Hi All We use the built in logshipping in SQLServer to logship to our DR site but once in a month do a DR test which requires us to move back and forth between our Live and BAckup servers. We run multiple (30) databases on the system so manually backing up the final logs and disabling the jobs is too much work and takes too long. I though no problem, I will script it but have run into trouble with it always complaninig that the final logship is too early to apply even though I dont export the final log until putting the database into norecovery mode. Firstly, does any one no a simple and reliable way of doing this? I have lokoed at some 3rd party software (redgate sqlbackup I think it was) but that didnt make it easy in this situation either. What I want to be able to do is basically run a script (a series of stored procedures) to get me to DR and run another to get me back with no dataloss. My scripts are very simplistic at the moment but here they are: 2 servers Primary Paris Secondary ParisT The StartAgentJobAndWait is a script written by someone else (ta) and just checks the jobs have finished or quits it if it never ends. • Unicenter Software Delivery 4 not able to connect to MS SQL 2000 Database after W2003 SP2 upgrade

  Hello Everyone Yesterday I installed the Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 on a Windows Server 2003 which has Unicenter Software Delivery 4 installed. Prior to the installation I disabled every CA service on the server (Brightstor, SDO , RCO, TNG) and the MS SQL 2000 service. After the installation of the SP2 I enabled the services again but the Unicenter Service is not able to connect to the MS SQL 2000 Database anymore. The database itself is up and running and I can connect to it with the Enterprise Manager. A dbcc checkdb doesnt return any errors on the Unicenter database. • MySql - Get row number on select

  Can I run a select statement and get the row number if the items are sorted? I have a table like this: mysql> describe orders; +-------------+---------------------+------+-----+---------+----------------+ | Field | Type | Null | Key | Default | Extra | +-------------+---------------------+------+-----+---------+----------------+ | orderID | bigint(20) unsigned | NO | PRI | NULL | auto_increment | | itemID | bigint(20) unsigned | NO | | NULL | | +-------------+---------------------+------+-----+---------+----------------+ I can then run this query to get the number of orders by ID: SELECT itemID, COUNT(*) as ordercount FROM orders GROUP BY itemID ORDER BY ordercount DESC; This gives me a count of each itemID in the table like this: +--------+------------+ | itemID | ordercount | +--------+------------+ | 388 | 3 | | 234 | 2 | | 3432 | 1 | | 693 | 1 | | 3459 | 1 | +--------+------------+ I want to get the row number as well, so I could tell that itemID 388 is the first row, 234 is second, etc (essentially the ranking of the orders, not just a raw count). I know I can do this in java when I get the result set back, but I was wondering if there was a way to handle it purely in SQL.

  My server has installed MySQL Server 5.1. I would like to run benchmarking on the MySQL, but I couldn't found sql-bench, which is Benchmark Suite provided by MySQL. The MySQL Benchmark Suite seem like complicated to be install or setup into my server. I need one can be direct setup to test the benchmark without using Perl script liked the benchmark suite from MySQL. Do anyone knows how to get the most popular benchmarking tool to measure MySQL performance? I need to measure the performance of my SQL written in ASP.Net that connecting to MySQL. I need to optimize the SQL script. It's better has a benchmarking tool where can be read my SQL in many times and return me the query result's time for comparison, etc. I just need to know the time consuming and performance for the each SQL runs in many times.
