  Hello How often QA engineers are responsible for developing Mock Objects for Unit Testing. So dealing with Mock Objects is just developer job ?. The reason i ask is i'm interested in QA as my career and am learning tools like JUnit , TestNG and couple of frameworks. I just want to know until what level of unit testing is done by developer and from what point QA engineer takes over testing for better test coverage ? Thanks Edit : Based on the answers below am providing more details about what QA i was referring to . I'm interested in more of Test Automation rather than simple QA involved in record and play of script. So Test Automation engineers are responsible for developing frameworks ? or do they have a team of developers dedicated in Framework development ?   This week we wrapped up a set of work to improve the actions and navigation within the project tabs. Now each tab in a project has a more consistent interaction experience. The navigation and filter activities are on the left side and action based links on the right. • System for registering bugs, enhancements and invoice them?

  I am searching suggestions for improvements? Currently our team use Github Issues to register changes in our software. Sometimes our customers have requirements that we will invoice them for. So now we reqister the same issue again in CRM. Unfortunately, the workflow is not as smooth as Github Issues and most developers try to avoid CRM if possible. It also feels waste of time to register the same issue twice. Are there any suggestions for better workflow than this?

• Dot Net Code Coverage Test Tools - there is now a choice

  I have been pleasantly surprised this week to discover that there is a choice of tools for measuring Code Coverage. If you have Visual Studio Team edition, then if you are using MSTEST, then you have built-in code coverage, however even then you may need a standalone tool. The tools I have found are (costs are per seat): 1) NCover  http://www.ncover.com/ (from $199 to $658 per seat) I have used it but it is very expensive. 2) PartCover http://sourceforge.net/projects/partcover/ - Free!  Steep initial learning curve to get it to work. 3) Dot Cover from http://www.jetbrains.com/dotcover/ - Personal licence - normally $99 but at a introductory price of $75 and free for OpenSource Developers (details at http://www.jetbrains.com/dotcover/buy/buy.jsp#opensource_) 4) Test Matrix from http://submain.com/products/testmatrix.aspx - $149 for a licence

• How can we reduce downtime at the end of an iteration?

  Where I work we practice scrum-driven agile with 3-week iterations. Yes, it'd be nice if the iterations were shorter, but changing that isn't an option at the moment. At the end of the iteration, I usually find that the last day goes very slowly. The actual work has already been completed and accepted. There are a couple meetings (the retrospective and the next iteration planning), but other than that not much is going on. What sort of techniques can we as a team use to maintain momentum through the last day? Should we address defects? Get an early start on the next iteration's work anyway? Something else?

• Is agile about development or management?

  On a debate over what Scrum is all about, I found that perhaps I totally misunderstood the agile thing. It appears to me that Scrum (which is certainly considered an Agile process) is all about managing features and sprints and roles and stuff with nothing to do with TDD, pair programming, CI, refactoring and other developer centric techniques and practices that I though (until now) are the heart of agile. Now I am facing a difficulty ! 1) Is Scrum agnostic to whether developers do agile practices? 2) Can you implement Scrum in a team that does not utilize automated tests? does not perform refactoring or does not adhere to the agile programming practices?

  You may have noticed that Weblogic Server (WLS) 9.2.X and WLS 10.0.X releases have been removed from the Oracle Software Delivery Cloud. The Delivery Team has been asked to remove or update any product pack or product that embeds WLS 10.3.2 or earlier versions. This is consistent with general Oracle practice of removing old product versions from public distribution systems, and encourages customer usage and adoption of newer product releases such as WLS 10.3.3 or newer.  For the convenience of existing supported customers, a media request SR on My Oracle Support can be entered to obtain any removed media.  Information on how to open such an SR can be found on  MOS Doc ID 1071023.1 . OTN will also be reviewed and similar modifications may potentially be done.  The following media packs will be removed from E-Delivery this week, as of the above reason. • Why do we need REST service security if we have HTTPS

  I refer to this excellent article http://www.thebuzzmedia.com/designing-a-secure-rest-api-without-oauth-authentication/ which speaks of amazon like security for web service. However I was asked a question in the team of why do we need it if we already use HTTPS. I was unable to answer as it really seems to me they may be right although gut tells me otherwise. Also is there places when providing REST services where HTTPS may not work? Like 3rd party websites? If anyone has experience in securing Web Services over the public interwebs please shed some light with your experience. Thanks in advance. EDIT: To clarify I am not speaking of user authentication but more of client authentication. The user authentication can be assumed to be plain text over HTTPS+ REST. My worry is that this still allows anyone to use the web service without my client to access it since everything is plai text although over HTTPS the client end point can still use my web service without the client application.

Purpose is to learn the rules of adding new modules and features, so when it comes to maintaining existing ones there is some concept. So, I'm looking for a good book, tutorial or websites where I can continue to read about this. Currently, what I know and what I do is: to design relational database(3NF), make separate class for each table put that in MVC implement modular programming ...write code and hope for the best... I presume that next things I need to learn more deeply are: programming codex(naming, commenting, conventions...), organize functions building interfaces organizing custom made libraries, organizing API that I'm using, documenting, team work... ... At last what my job is, it does't need to affect your answer, PHP CodeIgniter developer.

  I am sick and tired of my enterprise development job, I need some programming direction like this: Demanded in jobs-market Demanded in freelance market Can use Ubuntu as development environment Not enterprise. Standalone, mobile, web-development, anything, just not enterprise. Basically, I need a programming direction which doesn't need 20 developers, terribly big databases systems and long going projects with intense long-term support, I don't want enterprise job where a lot of people are working on one terribly big project and do modules to it all day long. Instead, I need something where: Projects change pretty often Projects are little, or medium-sized (in terms of code, modules and people working on it) but still not enterprise-sized Possible for freelance, solo-development, or at least requires a team of 3-4 programmers. Not like in enterprise where you feel like a drop in the sea with your 50 classes while system itself has hundreds of classes. Suggestions please?

  Okay, I'm sure there are a lot of us that has plenty of experience developing c++/opengl/objective C on the iPhone, java development on android, python games, etc (any client side stuff) while having little to no experience on web-based development. So what skillset should one learn in order to be able to work on web projects, say, to make a facebook clone (I kid), or maybe a startup that specializes on connecting random fashionistas with pics etc. I actualy do have some experience with C#/VB.net back-end development a while back, but as part of a team, I had a lot of support from the senior devs. Is C# considered a decent web development language?
