Right now i am using two separate queries : One to get the sum of the amount and commission grouped by the hotel name. The next is to get the individual row for each entry having that date in the table. This is, of course, because grouping the records for calculating sum() returns only one row for each of the hotel with the sum of the amounts... Is there a way to combine these two queries into a single one and do the operation in a more optimized way...?? Hope i am being clear.. Thanks for your time and replies...

• SQL group results as a column array

  Hi guys, this is an SQL question and don't know which type of JOIN, GROUP BY etc. to use, it is for a chat program where messages are related to rooms and each day in a room is linked to a transcript etc. Basically, when outputting my transcripts, I need to show which users have chatted on that transcript.   Hi I'm new to all this. I have been trying to display fetched emails in a JTable using the JavaMail add-on. However when I ask the program to set the value it never does. I have been working in NetBeans if that is any help? the fetchMail class finds all may on a server. The gui class is used to display all emails in a table as well as creating mail.   I need to get the number of rows of a query (so I can paginate results). • Is there a way to customize how the value for a custom Model Field is displayed in a template?

  I am storing dates as an integer field in the format YYYYMMDD, where month or day is optional. So if there's a record r = DataRecord(name='foo',date=20100400) when processed in the form the value would be 20100400 but when output in a template using {{ r.date }} it shows up as "April 2010". Further clarification I do normally use datetime for storing date/time values. In this specific case, I need to record non-specific dates: "x happened in 2009", "y happened sometime in June 1996". The easiest way to do this while still preserving most of the functionality of a date field, including sorting and filtering, is by using an integer in the format of yyyymmdd. That is why I am using an IntegerField instead of a DateTimeField. This is what I would like to happen: I store what I call a "Flexible Date" in a FlexibleDateField as an integer with the format yyyymmdd. I render a form that includes a FlexibleDateField, and the value remains an integer so that functions necessary for validating it and rendering it in widgets work correctly. I call it in a template, as in {{ object.flexibledate }} and it is formatted according to the flexibledateformat rules: 20100416 - April 16, 2010; 20100400 - April 2010; 20100000 - 2010. This also applies when I'm not calling it directly, such as when it's used as a header in admin (http://example.org/admin/app_name/model_name/). I'm not aware if these specific things are possible.

  Given: Let's say we have a stored procedure. It reports data back to a user on a webpage. The user can set a date range. If the user sets today's date as the "end date," which includes today's data, the web app passes DateTime.Now to the sql proc. Let's say that one user runs a report--5/1/2010 to now--over and over several times. On the webpage, the user sees "5/1/2010" to "5/4/2010." But the web app passes DateTime.Now to the sql proc as the end date. So, the end date in the proc will always be different, although the user is querying a similar date range. Assume the number of records in the table and number of users are large. So any performance gains matter. Hence the importance of the question. Question: Does passing DateTime.Now as a parameter to a proc prevent SQL Server from caching the query plan? If so, then is the web app missing out on huge performance gains? Possible Solution: I thought DateTime.Today.AddDays(1) would be a possible solution. It would allow the user to get the latest data and always pass the same end date to the sql proc--"5/5/2010" in this case. Please speak to this as well. • How to apply CSS theme to only a specific jQuery-UI element?

  I have a web site already build with my own CSS theme. I'm using jQuery UI "tabs" widget but no CSS from jQuery-UI. Now, I'm trying to add the "Date Picker" widget in one of my page. It would be great if I could reuse jQuery-UI default theme which is just fine. The problem is that the date picker theme is also applied to my tabs CSS. For example the "ui-widget" css properties is applied to both date picker and tabs elements. I can't seem to find a way to apply the css properties to only the date picker. I can't see a "super selector" that only applies to the date picker DIV. What would be the best way to handle this? [EDIT] The datepicker widget is really the problem. I cannot apply CSS style specific to it. Here is the starting code of the DIV that get pops up: <div style="position: absolute; top: 300.4px; left: 149px; display: block;" id="ui-datepicker-div" class="ui-datepicker ui-widget ui-widget-content ui-helper-clearfix ui-corner-all ui-helper-hidden-accessible"><div class="ui-datepicker-header ui-widget-header ui-helper-clearfix ui-corner-all"> As such, I cannot add a super selector. What would be great would be that the date picker widget supports CSS scope. But it does not. I'm stuck manually editing the jQuery CSS file. The Date Picker is currently being refactored. Hopefully the new code will address this issue.

• Combining the jquery Calendar picker with the jquery validation and getting them to play nice?

  I'm just starting to get into jquery/javascript programming so this may be a beginner question but I sure can't seem to find anything about it. I have a text field on a form. I've used the JQuery UI Calendar picker to make data entry better. I've also added jquery validation to ensure that if the user enters the date by hand that it's still valid. Here is the html: <input class="datepicker" id="Log_ServiceStartTime_date" name="Log_ServiceStartTime_date" type="text" value="3/16/2010"></input> and javascript: $('form').validate(); $('#Log_ServiceStartTime_date').rules('add','required'); $('#Log_ServiceStartTime_date').rules('add','date'); the problem I'm having is this: If a user puts in a bad date, or no date at all, the validation correctly kicks in and the error description displays. However, if the user clicks on the textbox to bring up the calendar picker and selects a date, the date fills into the field but the validation does not go away. If the user clicks into the textbox and then back out, the validation correctly goes away. How can I get the calendar picker to kick off the validation routine once a date is selected? thanks

If the user sets today's date as the "end date," which includes today's data, the web app passes DateTime.Now to the sql proc. Let's say that one user runs a report--5/1/2010 to now--over and over several times. On the webpage, the user sees 5/1/2010 to 5/4/2010. But the web app passes DateTime.Now to the sql proc as the end date. So, the end date in the proc will always be different, although the user is querying a similar date range. Assume the number of records in the table and number of users are large. So any performance gains matter. Hence the importance of the question.   I have tried the recommendation from this forum and through the many google searches...but i still can't get the events to show up on my calendar via jsp....i tried with php and it worked...sigh...i wonder where is the error....sigh.... • How do I break down an NSTimeInterval into year, months, days, hours, minutes and seconds on iPhone?

  I have a time interval that spans years and I want all the time components from year down to seconds. My first thought is to integer divide the time interval by seconds in a year, subtract that from a running total of seconds, divide that by seconds in a month, subtract that from the running total and so on. That just seems convoluted and I've read that whenever you are doing something that looks convoluted, there is probably a built-in method. Is there? I integrated Alex's 2nd method into my code. It's in a method called by a UIDatePicker in my interface. • Is it possible to customize @synthesized properties?

  I'm probably just being a bit lazy here, but bear with me. Here's my situation. I have a class with two nonatomic, retained properties. Let's say: @property (nonatomic, retain) UITextField *dateField; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSDate *date; I synthesize them as expected in the implementation. What I want to happen is that whenever the setter on date is invoked, it also does something to the dateField (i.e. it sets the text property on the dateField to be a nicely formatted version of the date). I realize I can just manually override the setter for date in my implementation by doing the following: - (void) setDate:(NSDate *)newDate { if (date != newDate) { [date release]; date = [newDate retain]; // my code to touch the dateField goes here } } What would be awesome is if I could let Objective C handle the retain/release cycle, but still be able to "register" (for lack of a better term) a custom handler that would be invoked after the retain/release/set happens. My guess is that isn't possible. My google-fu didn't come up with any answer to this, though, so I thought I'd ask.

  I'm trying to access a SharePoint list and return the calendar dates for a custom webpart I made. It was working fine, then I decided to only retrieve the date selected rather than the whole calendar, so I wanted to add a where clause. I've tried 'yyyy-MM-dd', 'yyyy-MM-ddThh:mm:ssZ', and 'yyyy-MM-dd hh:mm:ssZ' as string formats I've also tried MM/dd/yyyy as a date format. I'm using jQuery, and I do have list items in the calendar. • Use Linq to SQL to generate sales report

  I currently have the following code to generate a sales report over the last 30 days. I'd like to know if it would be possible to use linq to generate this report in one step instead of the rather basic loop I have here. For my requirement, every day needs to return a value to me so if there are no sales for any day then a 0 is returned. Any of the Sum linq examples out there don't explain how it would be possible to include a where filter so I am confused on how to get the total amount per day, or a 0 if no sales, for the last days I pass through. • PECL install error after upgrading to OSX 10.8

  I've just upgraded my OS to Mountain Lion and PECL is no longer working (it's on a test drive so no drama, but I'd like to get it working so I can upgrade the OS on my shiny new SSD as well). I'm using the native PHP installation, no macports/homebrew or anything like that. Running sudo pecl install uploadprogress (for example) produces the following terminal output: downloading uploadprogress-1.0.3.1.tgz ... Starting to download uploadprogress-1.0.3.1.tgz (9,040 bytes) .....done: 9,040 bytes 4 source files, building running: phpize grep: /usr/include/php/main/php.h: No such file or directory grep: /usr/include/php/Zend/zend_modules.h: No such file or directory grep: /usr/include/php/Zend/zend_extensions.h: No such file or directory Configuring for: PHP Api Version: Zend Module Api No: Zend Extension Api No: autom4te: need GNU m4 1.4 or later: /usr/bin/m4 ERROR: `phpize' failed I'm guessing the problem is the 3 grep lines. I've found several threads that suggest this is caused by XCode not being installed...but XCode is installed, and updated to the latest version (4.4). All the relevant symlinks to /Developer/usr/bin/* also exist as they should. m4 is currently at version: m4 (GNU M4) 1.4.13, so even though the output above contains a line pertaining to it, I don't think that can be the problem. I'm sure it's just a simple issue, anyone got any clues?

  I'm trying to build PHP for use as an apache shared module --with-apxs2 but also with the 'php-cgi' binary (fastcgi) on Mac OSX 10.6. I'm using this ./configure : /configure --prefix=/usr/local/PHP \ --with-apxs2=/usr/local/apache/bin/apxs \ --disable-ipv6 \ --enable-cgi \ --with-curl \ --with-mysqli=/usr/local/mysql/bin/mysql_config \ --with-openssl=/usr \ --enable-ftp \ --enable-shared \ --enable-soap \ --enable-sockets \ --enable-zip \ --with-zlib-dir It builds the apache php5.so module just fine, but in /usr/local/PHP/bin, there is no php-cgi file. If I build it without the --with-apxs2 option (and indeed, I don't even need the --enable-cgi option) the php-cgi file gets built with no problems. Background on my setup: PHP 5.3.4, Apache 2.2.14, Mac OSX 10.6, Tomcat with JavaBridge (which is why I need the php-cgi file) Without the apxs2 option, /usr/local/php/bin/php -v produces: PHP 5.3.4 (cli) (built: Dec 21 2010 21:35:14) Copyright (c) 1997-2010 The PHP Group Zend Engine v2.3.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2010 Zend Technologies and /usr/local/php/bin/php-cgi -v produces: PHP 5.3.4 (cgi-fcgi) (built: Dec 21 2010 21:35:12) Copyright (c) 1997-2010 The PHP Group Zend Engine v2.3.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2010 Zend Technologies My question is, what am I not understanding with php SAPIs that won't allow the building of the two modules at the same time?   Like the title says, "In Excel, when a cell has multiple conditional formatting rules that evaluate true, is it possible to have the cell "visually cycle" through all the formats that evaluated true? If not, suggestions on what to do would be appreciated!" I'm creating an employee schedule for a business that has multiple job areas that need to have an employee assigned to cover. The schedule is currently set up with the date on the top row, employee list down the left column, and the employee's assigned "job area" cross-referencing with the date on the top row. Originally it was set up where if every required "job area" didn't have someone assigned to it, the date would (via conditional formatting) change to red. I've set it up now that if a condition isn't met, the date will change to the color of the "job area" that doesn't have an employee assigned to it. However, there are cases where multiple job areas don't have an employee assigned, but the date will only change color based on the first condition that isn't met. It'd be nice if there was some way for the date cell to cycle through the different colors that correspond to the job areas where no one is assigned. I have a hunch that's not possible though. If it is possible, I'd love to know how to do it. And if it isn't, if anyone has any suggestions on how I can modify the Excel sheet to make it easier to identify the job areas that don't have anyone assigned to them, I would appreciate it. FYI This schedule goes out months in advance.
