  • Apache ProxyPass Missing Images

    I have a apache server that sits in front of my glassfish server. mydomain.com goes directly to my static files on apache, than if you hit the subdomain forum.mydomain.com it goes to the glassfish webapp forum/ at 127.0.0.1:8080/forum/. This proxy seems to work it takes me to the web app but all of the images are missing! Here is how I go my virtual host setup.     Hi, Just confirming -does VS2010 does not install SQL Server during installation? I'm assuming no. This being the case I therefore need to download a copy of SQL Express 2005 or something to develop against on my windows XP home PC? Is this correct? Or would the Dev edition of SQL Server 2005 run/install on Windows XP Home? thanks

  • Running sql scripts against an attached database?

    I've got an MDF attached to an instance of Sql Server 2008 Express, and I need to run some sql scripts against it to generate tables, indexes, etc. But I can't figure out how to get this to work. If I load the scripts in Visual Studio, it only allows me to connect to the server and run it against a database. I can't choose a different provider (Microsoft Sql Server Database File), so I can't select my MDF. This leaves me the only option of running the script as individual queries, but that won't work as it appears it doesn't support TSQL CREATE statements. How can I run my sql script against an attached database?

  • SQL Community – stronger than ever

    I posted a few hours ago about a reflection of the Summit, but I wanted to write another one for this month’s T-SQL Tuesday, hosted by Chris Yates. In January of this year, Adam Jorgensen and I joked around in a video that was used for the SQL Server 2012 launch. We were asked about SQLFamily, and we said how we were like brothers – how we could drive each other crazy (the look he gave me as I patted his stomach was priceless), but that we’d still look out for each other, just like in a real family. And this is really true. Last week at the PASS Summit, there was a lot going on. I was busy as always, as were many others. People told me their good news, their awful news, and some whinged to me about other people who were driving them crazy. But throughout this, people in the SQL Server community genuinely want the best for each other. I’m sure there are exceptions, but I don’t see much of this. Australians aren’t big on cheering for each other. Neither are the English. I think we see it as an American thing. It could be easy for me to consider that the SQL Community that I see at the PASS Summit is mainly there because it’s a primarily American organisation. But when you speak to people like sponsors, or people involved in several types of communities, you quickly hear that it’s not just about that – that PASS has something special. It goes beyond cheering, it’s a strong desire to see each other succeed. I see MVPs feel disappointed for those people who don’t get awarded. I see Summit speakers concerned for those who missed out on the chance to speak. I see chapter leaders excited about the opportunity to help other chapters. And throughout, I see a gentleness and love for people that you rarely see outside the church (and sadly, many churches don’t have it either). Chris points out that the M-W dictionary defined community as “a unified body of individuals”, and I feel like this is true of the SQL Server community. It goes deeper though. It’s not just unity – and we’re most definitely different to each other – it’s more than that. We all want to see each other grow. We all want to pull ourselves up, to serve each other, and to grow PASS into something more than it is today. In that other post of mine I wrote a bit about Paul White’s experience at his first Summit. His missus wrote to me on Facebook saying that she welled up over it. But that emotion was nothing about what I wrote – it was about the reaction that the SQL Community had had to Paul. Be proud of it, my SQL brothers and sisters, and never lose it.

  • SQL Server Restore from Backup, Just primary File Group

    Thankfully, this question is just a what-if, and I am not in an emergency right now. But I have created a file group in my database (sql server 2008), and moved some massive data tables over to it. Leaving my websites central tables in the Primary file group. In the event of a restore, can I restore just the primary file group, and have a working database? Or do I have to restore both file groups? I don't want my site down for ages while it restores the 2nd file group.

And there is an application installed on device, configured to receive push messages on appropriate port. Everything works well on MDS simulator. But it's not working well in real environment: I have installed BES Express and register several devices. I can browse MDS url with appropriate port, so url is correct.     Hi, I am running SQL server 2008 developer edition on windows vista home premium. I created a reporting services project that was built successfully in BIDS. When I try to deploy it it gives the following error: Error rsAccessDenied : The permissions granted to user 'COMP\MYSELF' are insufficient for performing this operation. The MYSELF account is the only account on the system. It has administrator rights. The reporting service is running with the LocalSystem service account. If I log in with the MYSELF account into reportmanager, I cannot see the site settings tab. Without the site settings tab, how do I add or change the roles for MYSELF account. In summary, please help me to open the reportmanager in the browser with the site settings link so that I can change the role of the user account.

    Sql 2005 I have a text column that has special characters stored e.g. CR, LF, but I don't know what they are. I would like to view these characters in management studio. Something like in Notepad ++ Show Symbol Show All Characters. My Goal: I am working on a data conversion from one database to another. When the data is converted and viewed in the native application it is displaying some funky characters like a pipe character. I would like to eliminate these characters during the conversion process.

    I have a maintenance plan setup for a databases on a server. As part of the backup is a Maintenance Cleanup Task. SQL Version 2008 The task that 'succeeds' is setup as: Delete backup files Correct folder (same address as the backup task) File extension: bak (NOT .bak) Delete files older than: 20 Hour(s) I have other similar cleanup tasks that occur in the same maintenance plan which work fine. This plan has worked fine in the past, I just noticed that last night it reported 'success' and the rest of the plan continued, however the file from 2 days ago still remains. I have checked similar questions such as this question, and this is not the case as my maintenance task worked fine two days ago and for the past several weeks:

  • Hyper-V virtual machine unable to get IP address from DHCP server running on same physical box

    We have a Windows server 2008 R2 with two network cards running AD, DHCP, DNS and Hyper-V The first nic is setup with a static IP address and DHCP, WDS, and DNS are bound to it. The second nic is configured in Hyper-V to be only used by Hyper-V and has been automatically configured so that only the virtual switch is enabled on the adapter. DHCP and DNS work fine for all physical machines on the network. It also works for Virtual Machines running on another physical box. Virtual machines that are bound to the virtual switch network adapter are unable to get a IP address. If the virtual machine is given a static IP address with correct subnet, gateway and dns everything works. Has anyone else got this working?

One computer on the network (and domain) can ping the server 25% of the time, also when I try to ping it's own hostname it also does not work. However another computer that is on the domain can ping it fine, and another computer on the network but not domain can ping fine as well. The computer that cannot ping the server is setup to use the DNS server running on the server only (secondary dns points to nothing) and it will resolve the hostname of the server to the external IP not internal when the other two computers correctly resolve the internal All 3 computers and server are connected directly into the same switch. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks

    From what I understand the system database is used to hold temporary tables, intermediate results and other temporary information. On one of my database instances I have a tempdb that is seems very large (30GB). This database has not been modified (as in "last modified date" on the mdf file) in over a week. Is it normal to have the temp db remain that large for that long of a period? It seems to me that it should be updating fairly often and returning space that it is using fairly quickly... Am I way off here or is SQL Server doing something weird? FYI: This is a SharePoint 2010 database, not sure if that makes a difference.

    I need to better understand the backup process under SQL Server 2008. Since drive space is a kind of matter for us and we want to have a better disaster recovery solution, I decided that we will implement differential backups throughout the day (every hour). Am I right to think that if I keep the recovery model of my databases to Simple, the differential backup will be almost the same size as Full Backup (too big to make one every hour) ? I already tried to switch to Full recovery and it seemed to have fixed the issue (differential backups were way smaller). I heard that the recovery model must be set to Full to use Log backups (to the minute recovery etc., but we don't need that) but never about differential backups. So, is the recovery model really having an impact on differential backups or am I missing something ? Thank you

    I have a Maintenance Plan that is suppose to go through the BACKUP folder and remove all .bak older than 5 days. When I run the job, it gives me a success message but older .bak files are still present. I've tried the step at the following question: SQL Maintenance Cleanup Task 'Success' But not deleting files Result is column IsDamaged = 0 I've verified with the following question and this is not my issue: Maintenance Cleanup Task(s) running 'successfully' but not deleting back up files. I've also tried deleting the Job and Maintenance Plan and recreating, but to no avail. Any ideas?

    Hi, im very new to this. I've set up an account "SQLBOX" thats on the a network, but not connected to the domain. I have installed an instance of SQL Server 2008 and am trying to connect to it from another machine on the network but am getting "Cannot connect to "SQLBOX"". From the "SQLBOX" i can connect to sqlservers on the domain, but not vice-versa. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sorry if the description isn't great. EDIT I can ping the box from a machine on the domain

    I've recently installed SSMA on my computer and after connecting to both the Oracle instance (which holds the database to be converted) and the SQL Server. I've mapped the needed schemas from oracle to mssql. The problem is that when i click on the report button for the assessment report there's an error popping up: Assesment Error : Nothing to Process The output window states: Starting conversion... Analyzing metadata... Conversion finished with 0 errors, 0 warnings, and 0 informational messages. There is nothing to process. Has anyone got experience with SSMA. I can't figure out what I am doing wrong. Thank you.

    I'm using the Table Value constructor to insert a bunch of rows at a time. However if i'm using sql replication, I run into a range check constraint on the publisher on my id column managed automatically. The reason is the fact that the id range doesn't seem to be increased during an insert of several values, meaning that the max id is reached before the actual range expansion could occur (or the id threshold). It looks like this problem for which the solution is either running the merge agent or run the sp_adjustpublisheridentityrange stored procedure. I'm litteraly doing something like : INSERT INTO dbo.MyProducts (Name, ListPrice) VALUES ('Helmet', 25.50), ('Wheel', 30.00), ((SELECT Name FROM Production.Product WHERE ProductID = 720), (SELECT ListPrice FROM Production.Product WHERE ProductID = 720)); GO What are my options (if I don't want or can't adopt any of the proposed solution) ? Expand the range ? Decrease the threshold ? Can I programmatically modify my request to circumvent this problem ? thanks.

  • WDS's MDT DeploymentShare and REMINST replicated with DFS-R does not read WIM from local WDS

    I've read several guides on using DFS-R with WDS and MDT to replicate REMINST and DeploymentShare, and I have a particularly strange problem. On the receiving server, after configuring WDS and mounting the DeploymentShare into MDT's DeploymentWorkbench, I also performed the following: 1) in .\Control\Bootstrap.ini, changed DeployRoot to \%wdsserver%\DeploymentShare$ 2) Changed the UNC path at the root of the MDT Deployment Share in the DeploymentWorkbench to match that of the current server. 3) In Unattend.xml files located: .\Control**, modified the following value to match the current server: <cpi:offlineImage catelog://HOST/ I am able to boot and grab the LiteTouch PE image off the local WDS TFTP server, but the WIM files, the scripts, everything else is being pulled off the WDS server at the remote site (the original WDS server that was the source of the files within the DFS-R replicated folder). What do I do in order to solve this problem? I've grepped all the files below the DeploymentShare to look for instances of the hostname of the WDS server at the remote site (the source of the files), but I found none.
