  • installing opencv for python issues

    - by vlad
I'm running OS X Leopard. I followed this site to install it. Trying to run any demo script, I now get "No module named opencv.cv", which is obviously stopping me from doing any programming. I am running python 2.5.1 (yes, I know it's kind of old). Why would this be, and how can I solve it? Thanks

  • Creating a wine static executable?

    - by asdf
Hi, I have some windows command line applications, in binary form (I do not have the source code) which I use frequently. Sometimes I need to run them in Linux machines, and it works perfectly under wine (wine is not an emulator). The problem I'm facing now is that I need to work on a cluster which has not wine installed on it. I wonder if it is possible to create in another similar linux machine kind of a static executable or so, so i can run this windows program on the cluster Thanks

  • What is the current state of the art in HTML canvas JavaScript libraries and frameworks?

    - by Toby Hede
I am currently investigating options for working with the canvas in a new HTML 5 application, and was wondering what is the current state of the art in HTML canvas JavaScript libraries and frameworks? In particular, are there frameworks that support the kind of things needed for game development - complex animation, managing scene graphs, handling events and user interactions? Also willing to consider both commercial and open source products.

  • What is the best credit card processing service?

    - by JerSchneid
We're looking to add credit card payments to our system (and it needs to be fairly custom, handling variable "per use" charges each month). We would like the integration to be simple and secure (i.e. no storing of credit card data on our system). What, in your opinion, is the best credit card processing provider to offer this kind of security and flexibility. List only one provider per answer to let the voting system do it's thing.

  • How does this XPATH query differentiate?

    - by Soham
I am kind of repeating this question because mostly due to my own ignorance, I could not fully understand the innards. Given this HTML snippet <td valign=top class="tim_new"><a href="/stocks/company_info/pricechart.php?sc_did=MI42" class="tim_new">3M India</a></td> <td class="tim_new" valign=top><a href='/stocks/marketstats/indcomp.php?optex=NSE&indcode=Diversified' class=tim>Diversified</a></td> How does this XPATH //a[@class='tim_new'] differentiate between line 1 and line 2.

    - by Aviator
Hello all, While putting an image element in PDF report, how can we give the alt description or similar kind of description for that image? The idea is to read the description when some screen reader is used to read the PDF. Currently, the reader (JAWS) says just 'graphic' when encountering an image in the PDF. Thanks!

  • Do you think functional language is good for applications that have a lot of business rules but very

    - by StackUnderflow
I am convinced that functional programming is an excellent choice when it comes to applications that require a lot of computation (data mining, AI, nlp etc). But is it wise to use functional programming for a typical enterprise application where there are a lot of business rules but not much in terms of computation? Please disregard the fact that there are very few people using functional programming and that it's kind of tough. Thanks

  • How do "modern JVMs" differ from older JVMs?

    - by Lord Torgamus
Here's a phrase that I heard a lot throughout high school and university computer science classes: "That's not an issue for modern JVMs." Usually this would come up in discussions about overall performance or optimization strategies. It was always treated as a kind of magical final answer, though, as if it makes issues no longer worth thinking about. And that just leads me to wonder: what are the differences between the prototypical "modern JVM" and older JVMs, really?

  • Cross-browser method for hiding page elements until all content is loaded to prevent layout from appearing broken during load?

    - by Ryan
I have an issue where due to some elements loading faster than others, the page looks broken for a few seconds at the start. An example is the CSS Pie behavior that allows me to do curved corners in IE, it appears before it becomes curved which looks bad. What would be ideal would be it somehow knowing when everything is loaded and then appear all at once, possibly including some kind of elegant visual way of not making the user feel impatient... any ideas or common tricks for doing this?

  • URL Controller Mapping Strategies (PHP)

    - by sunwukung
This is kind of an academic question, so feel free to exit now. I've had a dig through Stack for threads pertaining to URL/Controller mapping in MVC frameworks - in particular this one: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/125677/php-application-url-routing So far, I can ascertain two practices: 1: dynamic mapping through parsing the URL string (exploded on '/') 2: pattern matching matching url to config file containing available routes I wanted to get some feedback (or links to some other threads/articles) from folks regarding their views on how best to approach this task.
