  Does the user agent in any regular browser contain 'bot' or 'crawl'? I check the user agent on my site to see if it is coming from a bot or not. If it is, I can do some little optimizations since they don't login. (I don't change the content at all) After adding checks for 30-40+ bots, I'm getting tired of added them. So I was wondering if checking if it just contains 'bot' or 'crawl'. I know that wont get all bots, but it would get a lot of them. But if that could cause any false positives, then it would totally mess up the ability to add to cart, place an order, and login in.

• Where in the user profile are the Firefox search engine choices stored?

  We have a large number of user profiles that were created on Ubuntu 10.04 and they had access to Google as a choice in the search bar and Google was the provider for queries typed into the super bar. When logging into these same profiles from Mint 15 client machines, the Google search option does not exist for these users, as is the default for Mint. This setting seems to be user specific, but not a part of the FireFox profile? It seems if it were a part of the FF profile, it would "just work" on Mint for these profiles, so I suspect the configuration may be stored somewhere else in the user's profile? Could someone please tell me where in a user's profile the search engine options are set? We would like to set this once, and then drop this configuration into everyones profile so all of our users don't have to do this manually.

  Hello, I'm a .NET developer and recently learning WINDOWS API. When ever a program starts, my Kaspersky anti-virus says "application belonging to trusted group is trying to set debug previleges". I started wondering what are debug privileges? When ever application tries to open a file (using OpenFileDialog) it gives this message about debug privileges. It sometimes also says the so & so application is trying to read desktop.ini I'm not sure about what exactly it is either. Any way, my concern is about user previlages. When creating user account. We can only set the account to be either Administrative or Limited user. • Avoid implicit conversion from date to timestamp for selects with Oracle using Hibernate

  I'm using Hibernate 3.2.7.GA criteria queries to select rows from an Oracle Enterprise Edition 10.2.0.4.0 database, filtering by a timestamp field. The field in question is of type java.util.Date in Java, and DATE in Oracle. It turns out that the field gets mapped to java.sql.Timestamp, and Oracle converts all rows to TIMESTAMP before comparing to the passed in value, bypassing the index and thereby ruining performance. One solution would be to use Hibernate's sqlRestriction() along with Oracle's TO_DATE function. That would fix performance, but requires rewriting the application code (lots of queries). So is there a more elegant solution? Since Hibernate already does type mapping, could it be configured to do the right thing? • Ubuntu, user can't write to a directory and I don't see why not.

  I've got a directory, /var/www/someProject/backup/mysql, and I want the user mysql to write to it. Each time I try to write to it with the mysql user, I get a "can't read/write" error. Yet the directory is 777 as you can see here: drwxrwxrwx 2 aUser users 4096 2010-03-17 17:14 mysql I also tried to chown the directory to mysql:mysql, just like the home dir of the mysql user, but no luck, that changed nothing. What am I doing wrong here? Or is the mysql user limited to his home dir in some other way in Ubuntu? Been bugging me for days now, this problem so any help greatly appreciated.

  I'm having a pretty bizarre problem with a Terminal Services server used for RemoteApp. In our network the server works as it should, but at a client's office if two users log in simultaneously, the first one gets disconnected as the other one connects. The users belong to the same group but have individual users. The similar configuration works fine for all other clients. About the server, it's Windows 2008 R2 x64, no AD, SSL encrypted connections. Event viewer shows no useful information. Any hints where to start debugging? Do you need more info about the setup?

• oracle virtualbox doesn't work for host Kubuntu since Lucid Lynx 10.04

  I have a thinkpad edge 14 core i3 2.4 ghz and 4g ram; I have tried kubuntu 10.04, 10.10, 11.10, 12.04 and 12.10 (all x64 architecture); Both oracle and ose virtualbox only works properly to install XP and windows 7 quest system on kubuntu 10.04; For every other kubuntu release since, the guest installation goes as far as formatting the virtual drive, freezes at this step, and doesn't even go as far as copying files to hard-drive to begin installation. But virtualbox has not stopped responding to commands; I can kill that one specific window with the problem installation ("machine" - "close" - "power off the machine") and start over again without having to force-kill virtualbox application. If anyone knows how I can go about addressing this problem, any help you can provide would be very much appreciated. Thank You.

  Often whilst I'm working on local code on my local IIS install, I would get the following error: At which point I open up IIS, recycle the application pool, and restart the website, and then all is fine ... until an hour, or 20 minutes, or 40 seconds and then it is back again. What can be causing this issue? Why does restarting and recycling IIS fix it? It is getting rather annoying and I'd like a fix please :(

• Interesting sessions/tips from RMOUG

  One of the sessions I was at at last week's RMOUG was a session on Temp Tablespace Groups. I had a look because I had no experience with this and it seemed to help with parallel processing and the allocation/usage of temp. You can read the excellent write-up at Kellyn Pedersen's blog - who did the session and all the work - here. So for all of those who may be seeing lot's of waits like enq: TS - Contention when you are doing hash joins and sorts, do have a look at the above blog post. I also had the chance to listen in at Stewart Bryson's session on Restartability (he had 3 R-s) where he gave very useful tips about how to deal with your data warehouse loads. Questions like archive log mode - should I or should I not were well covered. Flashback archives, also nice to hear about. Very nice talk, very interesting. Unfortunately he hasn't blogged about it yes, so no pointers to that one. Got to see a couple of other interesting sessions, and as conferences go got to meet some interesting Oracle folks from the region. As usual RMOUG was useful and fun. Off to the drawing boards to design next year's session!
