  • Rails model relations depending on count of nested relations

    - by Lowgain
I am putting together a messaging system for a rails app I am working on. I am building it in a similar fashion to facebook's system, so messages are grouped into threads, etc. My related models are: MsgThread - main container of a thread Message - each message/reply in thread Recipience - ties to user to define which users should subscribe to this thread Read - determines whether or not a user has read a specific message My relationships look like class User < ActiveRecord::Base #stuff... has_many :msg_threads, :foreign_key => 'originator_id' #threads the user has started has_many :recipiences has_many :subscribed_threads, :through => :recipiences, :source => :msg_thread #threads the user is subscribed to end class MsgThread < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :messages has_many :recipiences belongs_to :originator, :class_name => "User", :foreign_key => "originator_id" end class Recipience < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :user belongs_to :msg_thread end class Message < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :msg_thread belongs_to :author, :class_name => "User", :foreign_key => "author_id" end class Read < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :user belongs_to :message end I'd like to create a new selector in the user sort of like: has_many :updated_threads, :through => :recipiencies, :source => :msg_thread, :conditions => {THREAD CONTAINS MESSAGES WHICH ARE UNREAD (have no 'read' models tying a user to a message)} I was thinking of either writing a long condition with multiple joins, or possibly writing giving the model an updated_threads method to return this, but I'd like to see if there is an easier way first. Any ideas? Also, if there is something fundamentally wrong with my structure for this functionality let me know! Thanks!!

  • Reference Error for property of Javascript Object

    - by Jeremy Petzold
I have built an object in Javascript on the Google Apps Script engine and every time I run my script I get a reference error saying uName is not defined. Here is the relivant code: function DataSet() { this.uName = ""; this.dFeild = ""; this.qUrl = "http://api.bfbcs.com/api/pc?players="+uName+"&fields="+dFeilds; this.data = ""; this.dQuery = dQuery; this.execQuery = execQuery; According to all sources I have found, I should not need to use the keyword var, and when I do include that, it throws other errors. What could be going on? Thanks

  • NSOutlineView not refreshing when objects added to managed object context from NSOperations

    - by John Gallagher
Background Cocoa app using core data Two processes - daemon and a main UI Daemon constantly writing to a data store UI process reads from same data store NSOutlineView in UI is bound to an NSTreeController which is bound to Application with key path of delegate.interpretedMOC What I want When the UI is activated, the outline view should update with the latest data inserted by the daemon. The Problem Main Thread Approach I fetch all the entities I'm interested in, then iterate over them, doing refreshObject:mergeChanges:YES. This works OK - the items get refreshed correctly. However, this is all running on the main thread, so the UI locks up for 10-20 seconds whilst it refreshes. Fine, so let's move these refreshes to NSOperations that run in the background instead. NSOperation Multithreaded Approach As soon as I move the refreshObject:mergeChanges: call into an NSOperation, the refresh no longer works. When I add logging messages, it's clear that the new objects are loaded in by the NSOperation subclass and refreshed. Not only that, but they are What I've tried I've messed around with this for 2 days solid and tried everything I can think of. Passing objectIDs to the NSOperation to refresh instead of an entity name. Resetting the interpretedMOC at various points - after the data refresh and before the outline view reload. I'd subclassed NSOutlineView. I discarded my subclass and set the view back to being an instance of NSOutlineView, just in case there was any funny goings on here. Added a rearrangeObjects call to the NSTreeController before reloading the NSOutlineView data. Made sure I had set the staleness interval to 0 on all managed object contexts I was using. I've got a feeling this problem is somehow related to caching core data objects in memory. But I've totally exhausted all my ideas on how I get this to work. I'd be eternally grateful of any ideas anyone else has. Code Main Thread Approach // In App Delegate -(void)applicationDidBecomeActive:(NSNotification *)notification { // Delay to allow time for the daemon to save [self performSelector:@selector(refreshTrainingEntriesAndGroups) withObject:nil afterDelay:3]; } -(void)refreshTrainingEntriesAndGroups { NSSet *allTrainingGroups = [[[NSApp delegate] interpretedMOC] fetchAllObjectsForEntityName:kTrainingGroup]; for(JGTrainingGroup *thisTrainingGroup in allTrainingGroups) [interpretedMOC refreshObject:thisTrainingGroup mergeChanges:YES]; NSError *saveError = nil; [interpretedMOC save:&saveError]; [windowController performSelectorOnMainThread:@selector(refreshTrainingView) withObject:nil waitUntilDone:YES]; } // In window controller class -(void)refreshTrainingView { [trainingViewTreeController rearrangeObjects]; // Didn't really expect this to have any effect. • Testing a Django view cause "AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'handler500'" error

I just wanted to start testing a Django view using the code below: from django.test.client import Client c = Client() response = c.get('/search/keyword') print response.content It just throws out following error message: "/usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/django/test/client.py", line 286, in get response = self.request(**r) File "/usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/django/test/client.py", line 230, in request response = self.handler(environ) File "/usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/django/test/client.py", line 74, in __call__ response = self.get_response(request) File "/usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/django/core/handlers/base.py", line 143, in get_response return self.handle_uncaught_exception(request, resolver, exc_info) File "/usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/django/core/handlers/base.py", line 178, in handle_uncaught_exception callback, param_dict = resolver.resolve500() File "/usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/django/core/urlresolvers.py", line 268, in resolve500 return self._resolve_special('500') File "/usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/django/core/urlresolvers.py", line 258, in _resolve_special callback = getattr(self.urlconf_module, 'handler%s' % view_type) AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'handler500' The view works in browser. • Django: many-to-one fields and data integrity

    - by John
Let's say that I have a Person who runs an inventory system. Each Person has some Cars, and each Car has a very large number of Parts (thousands, let's say). A Person, Bob, uses a Django form to create a Car. Now, Bob goes to create some Parts. It is only at the form level that Django knows that the Parts belong to some specific Car, and that the Parts.ForeignKey(Car) field should only have a specific Car as a choice. When creating a Part, you have to mess with the form's constructor or similar in order to limit the choice of Cars to only the cars owned by Bob. It does not seem proper that to enforce this ownership at the form level. It seems that other users' Cars must be inaccessible to anyone but the owner of the Car. What do you all think about this, and is there any way to enforce this?

  • Is it possible to set properties on a Mock Object in Simpletest

    - by JW
I normally use getter and setter methods on my objects and I am fine with testing them as mock objects in SimpleTest by manipulating them with code like: Mock::generate('MyObj'); $MockMyObj->setReturnValue('getPropName', 'value') However, I have recently started to use magic interceptors (__set() __get()) and access properties like so: $MyObj->propName = 'blah'; But I am having difficulty making a mock object have a particular property accessed by using that technique. So is there some special way of setting properties on MockObjects. I have tried doing: $MockMyObj->propName = 'test Value'; but this does not seem to work. Not sure if it is my test Subject, Mock, magic Interceptors, or SimpleTest that is causing the property to be unaccessable. Any advice welcome.

  • NHibernate Unique Constraint on Name and Parent Object fails because NH inserts Null

    - by James
Hi, I have an object as follows Public Class Bin Public Property Id As Integer Public Property Name As String Public Property Store As Store End Class Public Class Store Public Property Id As Integer Public Property Bins As IEnumerable(Of Bin) End Class I have a unique constraint in the database on Bin.Name and BinStoreID to ensure unique names within stores. However, when NHibernate persists the store, it first inserts the Bin records with a null StoreID before performing an update later to set the correct StoreID. This violates the Unique Key If I persist two stores with a Bin of the same name because The Name columns are the same and the StoreID is null for both. Is there something I can add to the mapping to ensure that the correct StoreID is included in the INSERT rather than performing an update later? We are using HiLo identity generation so we are not relying on DB generated identity columns Thanks James

  • When Drag a object from one div to another , format gets changed

    - by Anuj
When a object is dragged and dropped from one div to another, the format in li gets changes to text only. I want it in the same format i.e 'li' after droping it. $(function() { $( "#catalog ul" ).sortable({ zIndex: 10000, revert: true }); $( "#catalog" ).accordion(); $( "#catalog ul" ).draggable({ appendTo: "body", helper: "clone", zIndex: 10000 }); $( "#dialogIteration ol" ).droppable({ activeClass: "ui-state-default", hoverClass: "ui-state-hover", drop: function( event, ui ) { $( this ).find( ".placeholder" ).remove(); $( "<li></li>" ).text( ui.draggable.text() ).appendTo( this ); } }).sortable({ items: "li:not(.placeholder)", sort: function() { // gets added unintentionally by droppable interacting with sortable // using connectWithSortable fixes this, but doesn't allow you to customize active/hoverClass options $( this ).removeClass( "ui-state-default" ); } }); $( "ul, li" ).disableSelection(); $("#dialogIteration").dialog(); }); Demo: http://jsfiddle.net/coolanuj/7683X/7/

  • Grabbing random object from ArrayList is not random.

    - by Isai
I am creating a method where if you pass in a parameter of type Random, then it will return a random object. Here is basically what I am trying to do: public T choose(Random r) { int randomInt = r.nextInt(randomList.size()); // randomList is just a instance variable return randomList.get(randomInt); } The random list has this the following strings:[2, 2, 2, 1, 1, 1, 1, c, c, c, a, a, a, a] Then I made a driver with the following code for (int i = 0; i < 10; i++) { System.out.print(rndList.choose(rnd)); // rnd is initialized as a static Random variable } However my outputs are not coming out random. I used the debugger and found out that my choose method generates an integer that is relatively low, so it will always print out either 2's or 1's but never c's or a's. I can't figure out why this is happening and help would be greatly appreciated.

  • How to parse the MailMessage object from raw email string

    - by Xmindz
I have written a program in C# which connects to a POP Server and retrieves raw email message strings from the server using POP3 command RETR. Since the email message being retrieved by the program is in plain text format with all the headers and message body with in the same, its too difficult to extract each header and mail body from the raw string. Could anybody tell me a solution by which I can parse the entire raw text to a System.Net.Mail.MailMessage object? Following is a sample email raw string: +OK 1281 octets Return-Path: <[email protected]> Delivered-To: samplenet-sample:[email protected] X-Envelope-To: [email protected] Received: (qmail 53856 invoked from network); 22 Sep 2012 06:11:46 -0000 Received: from mailwash18.pair.com (66.39.2.18) MIME-Version: 1.0 From: "Deepu" <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Date: 22 Sep 2012 11:41:39 +0530 Subject: TEST Subject Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Message-Id: <[email protected]> TEST Body .

  • Entity framework (1): implement 1 foreign key to multiple tables

    - by Michel
Hi, i've modeled this: i have an import table, and an import steps table import 1 .. N importsteps Now i have a table importparams, which hold key/value pairs to register all kind of info about the import or the importsteps. So i have modeled a FK in SqlServer which points to the PK of the import table and to the PK of the importsteps table (the ID's for both the import as the importsteps table are guids, so i can query the importparams with either the id from import or from importsteps and get the right importparams). Makes sense a bit? But how can i model this in the EF? I can see it's a bit hard for the EF to model this, because one realtion can point to multiple classes, but is there a way? The workaround normally is just to get all importparams where FK is the ID, but as you know the FK is not available in the EF version 1. I hope you can help me out, michel

  • adding a js method

Hi! I have a js function that is named getID which is basically return document.getElementById(id) I want to make another function, getTag that would return getElementsByTagName. The part that I can't seem to manage is that I want to be able to call them like this: getID('myid').getTag('input') = so this would return all the input elements inside the element with the id myid Thanks! ps: getTag would also have to work if it's called by it's own, but then it would just return document.getElementsByTagName

  • How can I embed a youtube video using variable widths/heights for a dynamic width web page?

    - by Dan Gayle
I want to set a youtube video to 100% width so that it scales appropriately in a dynamic width column on a web page I am designing. The problem is that the height doesn't behave like the height of an image. Instead of scaling proportionately, it either collapses (if set to "auto" or left blank) or it scales seemingly random if set to a percentage. How can I get it to remain proportionate while still dynamic?

  • vb.net Object Initialiser List(Of T)

    - by Tim B James
    I have been looking at some C# code: List<Employee> Employees = new List<Employee>{ new Employee{firstname="Aamir",lastname="Hasan",age=20}, new Employee{firstname="awais",lastname="Hasan",age=50}, new Employee{firstname="Bill",lastname="Hasan",age=70}, new Employee{firstname="sobia",lastname="khan",age=80}, }; Now when I convert this to vb.net Dim Employees as List(Of Employee) = New List(Of Employee)() With { New Employee() With { _ .firstname = "Aamir", _ .lastname = "Hasan", _ .age = 20 _ }, _ New Employee() With { _ .firstname = "awais", _ .lastname = "Hasan", _ .age = 50 _ }, _ New Employee() With { _ .firstname = "Bill", _ .lastname = "Hasan", _ .age = 70 _ }, _ New Employee() With { _ .firstname = "sobia", _ .lastname = "khan", _ .age = 80 _ } _ } I get the error "Name of field or property being initialized in an object initializer must start with'.'." Now I can get an array of employee using the code: Dim Employees = { New Employee() With { _ .FirstName = "Aamir", _ .LastName = "Hasan", _ .Age = 20}, _ New Employee() With { _ .FirstName = "Awais", _ .LastName = "Hasan", _ .Age = 50}, _ New Employee() With { _ .FirstName = "Bill", _ .LastName = "Hasan", _ .Age = 70 _ } _ } But I would like a List(Of Employee) as it is bugging me as to why this doesnt work in vb.net?

  • Bind multiple request parameters to one object in Spring 3

    - by Max
Hi, I can't figure out a way to bind several arguments and headers to one request parameter using annotations in Spring 3. For example, let's say I'm getting this request: Headers: Content-type: text/plain; POST Body: Name: Max Now I want it all to mysteriously bind to this object: class NameInfo { String name; } Using some code like this: String getName() { if ("text/plain".equals(headers.get("content-type"))) { return body.get("name"); } else if ("xml".equals(headers.get("content-type")) { return parseXml(body).get("name"); } else ... } So that in the end I would be able to use: @RequestMapping(method = RequestMethod.POST) void processName(@RequestAttribute NameInfo name) { ... } Is there a way to achieve something similar to what I need? Thanks in advance.

  • Entity Framework v4 examples and tutorials of conceptual model mapping

    - by Rody van Sambeek
In an application I'm writing I have a fairly complicated Database model. I'd like to use EF4 to map this to a whole lot nicer conceptual model. However all the tutorials I've read are with samples of 2 or 3 tables which all map 1 on 1 to the conceptual model. I'd like to learn how to correctly map the database model to a different conceptual model using VS 2010. However I can't find any good tutorials or (preferabally) instruction video's. Somebody got any tips, links or even books?

  • JAX-WS returning a complex object?

    - by occhiso
Hi, Im pretty new to Java Web Services, but I cant find a good explanation anywhere. I have 2 Java web projects within NetBeans. One as a web service and one as a client for that web service. I have also created my own class called "Person", which has what you'd expect: name, dob, etc. I would like to have a web service method called "ListPeople()" that would return an array of "Person" objects. Do I need to have that class in both projects? Should I be serializing the object first? Should I be using JAXB, if so, where do I start? Sorry for the n00b questions, but im confused. What is the normal way of accomplishing this? Thanks in advance

  • Looking for a free tool to visualize object relationships for C#

    - by vfilby
Here is my ideal solution: a free tool that reads a .csporj or .sln and generates a pretty picture that shows all the objects and how they are related. By relationships, I don't mean inheritance but rather dependency. For example, if we have a Car object and Car has a member variable Wheel, I would like that Car depends on Wheel to be visualized in the graph. I know visual studio can do inheritance graphs, but that is only half of what I am looking for. Is what I am looking for possible? Are there any tools that do something similar? • Entity Framework - refresh objects from database

    - by Nebo
I'm having trouble with refreshing objects in my database. I have an two PC's and two applications. On the first PC, there's an application which communicates with my database and adds some data to Measurements table. On my other PC, there's an application which retrives the latest Measurement under a timer, so it should retrive measurements added by the application on my first PC too. The problem is it doesn't. On my application start, it caches all the data from database and never get new data added. I use Refresh() method which works well when I change any of the cached data, but it doesn't refresh newly added data. Here is my method which should update the data: public static Entities myEntities = new Entities(); public static Measurement GetLastMeasurement(int conditionId) { myEntities.Refresh(RefreshMode.StoreWins, myEntities.Measurements); return (from measurement in myEntities.Measurements where measurement.ConditionId == conditionId select measurement).OrderByDescending(cd => cd.Timestamp).First(); } P.S. Applications have different connection strings in app.config (different accounts for the same DB).

  • Memory management in Qt?

    - by Martin
I'm quite new to Qt and am wondering on some basic stuff with memory management and the life of objects. When do I need to delete / destroy my objects? Is any of this handled automatically? In the example below, which of the objects I create do I need to delete? What happens to the instance variable myOtherClass when myClass is destroyed? What happens if I don't delete / destroy my objects at all, will that be a problem to memory? in MyClass.h: class MyClass { public: MyClass(); ~MyClass(); MyOtherClass *myOtherClass; }; in MyClass.cpp: MyClass::MyClass() { myOtherClass = new MyOtherClass(); MyOtherClass myOtherClass2; QString myString = "Hello"; } As you can see this is quite newbie-easy stuff but where can I learn about this in an easy way? Thanks really much
