I want all .jpg links to have a certain background image. so a link on a page like 'http://mysite/myimage.jpg' would automatically be prefixed with a small icon. Actually all links to images, ie .gif .png as well with the same icon. If the link is to a website, ie .htm/.php/.html/.asp it should have a different image. I want it to be through classes in CSS. Any help appreciated. TIA
Hi
In a div I gave overflow auto to have a scroll bar to display the content that exceeds the limit
My scroll bar appears in blue color that doesn't suit my layout how can i change the color
div#navigation{background:#efe9b9; overflow:auto}
This is the css i am using ... I want brown colored scrll bar
How to get it
I have a stack of divs inside of each other, all of which have an ID which specifies CSS only.
But for some reason the surrounding DIV tag only expands to it's anointed height value, and not it's default auto, meaning that although the content is inside, the backing DIV is only a specific height. I need it to adjust the heigh to the size of whatever is inside of it (As there will be user submitted data being echoed out possibly in paragraphs with 500+ words.)
Here is my HTML
<div id="albumhold">
<div id="albumpic">Pic here</div>
<div id="infohold">
<div id="albumhead">Name | Date</div>
<div id="albuminfo">Information</div>
</div>
And the CSS for the HTML code:
#albumhold {
width: 920px;
padding: 10px;
height: auto;
border: 1px solid #E1E1E1;
margin-left: auto;
margin-right: auto;
background-color: #E1E1E1;
background-image: url(../global-images/albumback.png);
background-position: top center;
background-repeat: repeat-x;
}
#albumpic {
display: block;
height: 110px;
width: 110px;
float: left;
border: 1px solid #000;
}
#infohold {
width: 800px;
background-color: #CCC;
float: right;
height: 20px;
}
#albumhead {
width: 800px;
height: 20px;
text-indent: 10px;
border: 1px solid #000;
color: #09F;
}
#albuminfo {
margin-top: 5px;
width: 800px;
float: right;
color: #09F;
word-wrap:break-word;
}
Help is greatly appreciated.
I have a form with a lot of fields. I want it to be neat and easy to use. I found this site that theorizes about an updated e-bay registration form and I liked what e-bay was doing.
So... what html/css do I need to get a form to look like the form on the right:
hi
I want my page's BODY not to be scrollable but a DIV inside the BODY should be scrollable.
I have this in my css file:
body {
overflow:hidden
}
.mainSection {
overflow:scroll
}
but it doesn't work and the DIV doesn't become scrollabel (it just shows two disabled scroll bars for the DIV)!
<td style="width:230px;overflow:hidden;">
<?php echo $something; ?>
</td>
What I'm doing is to cut $something to 2 rows at most,and add ... when necessary,
but this kind of requirement seems clue less when trying to implement,
Solutions within the scope of php/javascript/css are appreciated!
anyone has ideas?
I have a div container with 3 div elements inside (A, B, and C). I'll know the width of the container and the width of A and B) the problem is that in some cases B won't be there in which case I need C to expand to fill the rest of the container. How would I do this with straight css or am I going to need to use javascript to calculate the width?
Thanks.
Hi,
Is there a quick way to translate (using CSS or Javascript) a tables TD into TR, currently I have:
A B C D
1 2 3 4
and I want to translate to:
A 1
B 2
C 3
D 4
??
I am trying to make a bar chart using tables, which I have almost accomplished to my liking. The last step I want is text over my image which represents the bar. Here is the code I have thus far for building my little bar charts:
$height = 50;
//build length
$width = 450;
$multi = $brewAvg / 5;
$width = $width * $multi;
print " <tr > <td > $count. <a href=\"$breweryURL\"> $brewR</a> </td> <td > <img src=\"blueBar.png\" width=\"$width\" height=\"$height\"> </td> </tr> ";
And this produces something like this:
You can see in the code how I simply calculate the length of the bar based on a breweries rating. What I want to do next is have the rating number show on top of each breweries on the left hand side. How would I go about accomplishing this?
Update:
I tried a tutorial I read here:
http://www.kavoir.com/2009/02/css-text-over-image.html
and I changed my code to this:
print "<div class=\"overlay\"> ";
print " <tr valign=\"middle\" > <td > $count. <a href=\"$breweryURL\"> $brewR</a> </td> <td > <img src=\"blueBar.png\" width=\"$width\" height=\"$height\"> </td> </tr> ";
print"
<div class=\"text\">
<p> $brewAvg </p>
</div>
</div>
";
And my css I added was this:
<style>
.overlay {
position:relative;
float:left; /* optional */
}
.overlay .text {
position:absolute;
top:10px; /* in conjunction with left property, decides the text position */
left:10px;
width:300px; /* optional, though better have one */
}
</style>
And it did put any of the value son top of my images. All the text is in a list above all the bars like this:
Hello people, this is my first question, so i do not know if i am doing it ok...
I would like to know what is the meaning of ".foo{}"
It is placed at the beggining of a css stylesheet i have been modifying.

I have a lot of div boxes with nested div .titles, with a button inside. Is there a way in jQuery to select the parent of the button?
Something like:
$("#button").click(function(){
$("this.parent").css({'border-bottom' : 'none'});
});
Or am I going to have to rename all of my title classes to unique classes?
Click here to see a simple example of what I want. It's really easy, but for some reason Google won't display it.
It's part of a foreach loop, if needed I can add other codes.
There is nothing else in the rest of the css to mess with this, I have checked about 10 times.
Thanks.
How do I order images in a list in an inline style with css? I have tried puting inline style in the list tag but it is showing it in block form. Any help will be greatly appreciated

Hi, I have a site setup that is working fine in ie8 and firefox but as you can see here:
http://i36.tinypic.com/nzq63m.jpg
Is this an issue with some css or a png transparency? Or is this just something with IE7.
Thanks in advance :)
<style type="text/css">
#[':0:adId']{/*this is not useful*/
background:red;
}
</style>
<div id=":0:adId">Loading...</div>
the google maps use this name,
so how do i set the style.
thanks
It's simple to observe the documents scroll event but I can't seem to find anything relating to the scroll of any other element with css property overflow being set?
To get around this myself i've been observing mousemove which only fires while you hold down on the scrollbar but this would need to be teamed with a mouse wheel observe also to get the full effect.
Could anyone point me in the right direction for a better way of implementing this?
Pretty much all in subject, do i need use javascript to acheive this pr maybe css will fit well? Also I need that solution to work fine with IE6.
If javascript is only solution then how to animate div to change position smoothly?
Thanks in adavnce for any help
I have the following CSS
.ul{
list-style-image:url(/images/bullet.png)
}
My bullet.png is 20 x 20px however it is displaying the text at the bottom of the image while I need to display my text in the middle of the image. Is there a way to assign margins and paddings that move only the text?
How can i hide the scrollbar of using css/jQuery? i notice that the slideDown() function makes the scrollbar to be hidden but i can't understand why(the precise reason/behaviour).
