  • reasons to not use typekit?

    I'm launching a new site soon and would like to use one nice font (for headings etc). I've experimented with scripts like cufon and find them very disappointing. The way I see it I have to legal options: create my own font stacks using fonts that are licensed for @font-face (like fontsquirrel) subscribe to typekit use standard font stacks including some of MS Office's nicer fonts (not keen on!) I'm looking for comments from someone with experience here, not speculation please (i can do that myself!). Has anyone used typekit? Have you noticed any performance issues?

    The documentation of jQuery.animate states that The only required parameter is a map of CSS properties. This map is similar to the one that can be sent to the .css() method, except that the range of properties is more restrictive. So, why does this work $('#con div').css( { top : function(i) { console.log(i); return (i * 500) + 'px'; } } ); and this doesn't? $('#con div').animate( { top : function(i) { console.log(i); return (i * 500) + 'px'; } } ); The console shows that the function is being evaluated for css, but not for animate. Am I missing something? By the way, I'm using 1.4.2.

  • Reporting Services 2008 R2 export to PDF embedded fonts not shown

    Hi, I have installed a font on the server that hosts Reporting Services 2008 R2, after that I've restarted the SSRS service, and sucessfully deployed a report with a custom font. I can see it using the font on the web, when I export it to Excel, however on PDF the font is not visible. If I click on File - Properties - Fonts. I'm presented with a screen that shows me a list of fonts on the PDF. There's an a icon with Helvetica-BoldOblique Type: Type 1 Encoding: Ansi Actual Font: Arial-BoldItalicMT Actual Font Type: TrueType The second one is a double T icon with the font I'm using and a (Embedded Subset) sufix. Its a True Type font and ANSI encoded. However the text is not using this embeded font, If I select the text and copy to a word document (I have the font installed) I can see the text in the font, however not on PDF, what's wrong here?

When this one runs: (r"^mybjects/(([a-z]|[A-Z]|[0-9])+)$","views.myobjects.loadobject"), All the css and JS files that are being fetched, are run trough the urlpatterns and are returning my defailt page: (r"", 'views.main.index'), This makes all my CSS and JS code to actualy be HTML. My guess is that i'm giving some noob mistake. Is there any common reason why this should happen? And how to fix it?

  • How do I rotate an image in Javascript or CSS

    I am creating a simple game. I want to use jQUERY to rotate the joints making it move. I am using .animate ( http://api.jquery.com/animate/ ) to animate CSS properties but if it is also possible to use Javscript, I can make my own custom code. More TO-THE-POINT How do I rotate images in CSS or Javascript? I prefer CSS but Javascript is fine too. If it is impossible (which I am pretty sure it is but I am not giving up yet) is there any other possible way to do what i am trying to do without making a bunch of seperate images, each rotated a different way. Or can anyone at least give me an example of a site that does something similar. EDIT: I need 1 CSS property (no -something: rotation(500deg);) that works with FireFox, Safari and Chrome because those are the only browsers I really work with.

Firebug lists all the class items for mainNavSelected, but has them all crossed out. What am i missing to replace the class of this element?

    I've been seeing more and more websites using fancy antialiased fonts. Every time I hit one, I think to myself "hmm, what web-safe font is that?" - but after looking at the CSS I typically find some font name in quotes, like "Palatino Linotype". Obviously not web-safe, but according to the Wikipedia article, "Palatino Linotype is shipped with Windows 2000 or later, and Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003." So that covers what, 95% of users that might visit your website? And thanks to the power of CSS, the website can fallback to a similar generic font typename such as 'serif' for non-Windows users with a line like this: font: 16px/20px "Palatino Linotype", serif; Awesome! I want to start using fancy fonts! Is there a set of lists out there, of the fonts that are preinstalled by default in Windows 98, 2000, NT, ME, XP, 2003, etc., and maybe for the Mac OSX versions and various Linux distributions as well? It would be a great reference for picking web font faces! (if not, someone should compile it!) I had never before heard of Palatino Linotype and I want to know what other fonts have existed since old Windows versions that I've never known about!

  • Approaching this case with ABDPDF

    We have ABCPDF 8 available to work with for this case. We need to rebuild an existing PDF with markup and texts in it with text that comes from a CMS. What we basicly want to do is use an existing PDF and replace blocks of text and images with the ones our content editors specify in Sitecore. I have been looking at the documentation of ABCPDF but it's kind of overwelming at this point, cause it's the first time I'm trying to do anything with dynamically building a PDF. I found that it's possible to read text from an existing PDF document using the .GetText(""); method. This Method will accept 4 parameters and I've tried the SVG one (returns xml). When I load the xml in an XmlDocument I find that alot of textblocks which I assumed to be one block of text is split up in different parts.     I have this filtering function that takes an input image, performs convolution using a given kernel, and returns the resulting image. However, I can't seem to work it out how to make it takes different kernel sizes.For example instead of pre-defined 3x3 kernel as below in the code, it could instead take 5x5 or 7x7. and then the user could input the type of kernel/filter they want(Depending on the intended effect).   • prevent hover set by the CSS

    I try to prevent the Browser from using the :hover effect of the CSS. $("ul#mainFilter a").hover( function(o){ o.preventDefault(); ...do my stuff... }, function(o){ o.preventDefault(); ...do my stuff... }); I tired it with return false; to but it does not work. Does anyone know how to do this? due the answers i give you some more nfo: I have set the a and a:hover styles, in my CSS already. Now if JS is available on the clients machine, i want to overwrite the effect with a smoother one. (using jQuery color plugin) As mentioned by fudgey, a work around would be to set the style (using .css()) but i would have to overwrite every single effect specified in the CSS (see here: http://jsfiddle.net/raPeX/1/ ). I am looking for a generic solution.

  • Set a specific stylesheet based on session variable in javascript

    I have an option for a user to select his/her own theme while logged into the system and this theme is set in a MYSQL Database and called each time the user logs in, this is called by: <?php $_SESSION['SESS_THEME_NAME']; ?> Now, I had this working in a PHP file but I need it to work in Javascript instead unfortunately. And I need some help. I looked at the code using the developers tools on Google Chrome and looks like the above code is not resolving within the javascript file. Which makes sense because you can't access session variables within a javascript file (as I found by searching Google.) The code is basically supposed to set the specific stylesheet based on the value extracted from the MYSQL database. So if the database says Default the script needs to tell the webpage to use the default.css file. And so on and so forth.   • Convert codes to HTML with CSS style

    I normally use VIM to edit my codes and convert them to HTML by using TOhtml command. The only thing I don't like is that the converted HTML does not have css class style definitions. I am not sure if there is tool to convert codes to HTML with css, or I can use additional tool or command to convert HTML HTML with css?
