    I'm having trouble finding a regular expression that matches the following String. Korben;http://feeds.feedburner.com/KorbensBlog-UpgradeYourMind?format=xml;1 One problem is escaping the question mark. Java's pattern matcher doesn't seem to accept \? as a valid escape sequence but it also fails to work with the tester at myregexp.com. Here's what I have so far: ([a-zA-Z0-9])+;http://([a-zA-Z0-9./-]+);[0-9]+ Any suggestions?

    Hi I have a very simple WPF project comprising a Window and Usercontrol. I'm very much in a learning phase. It works fine when I run it. However, I am unable to see the form in design time. The problem, I believe is something to do with namespaces, but I don't understand where.     Hi All, I have the following strings in my application. /admin/stylesheets/11 /admin/javascripts/11 /contactus what I want to do is to write a regular expression to capture anything other than string starting with 'admin' basically my regex should capture only /contactus by excluding both /admin/stylesheets/11 /admin/javascripts/11 to capture all i wrote /.+/ and i wrote /(admin).+/ which captures everything starts with 'admin'. how can i do the reverse.     i have the following code snapshot: public void getResults( String expression, String collection ){ ReferenceList list; Vector lists = new Vector(); list = invertedIndex.get( 1 )//invertedIndex is class member lists.add(list); } when the method is finished, i supose that the local objects ( list, lists) are "destroyed". Can you tell if the memory occupied by list stored in invertedIndex is released as well? Or does java allocate new memory for list when assigning list = invertedIndex.get( 1 );

    Hello: I'm tyring to remove lowercase sentence fragments from standard text files using regular expresions or a simple Perl oneliner. These are commonly referred to as speech or attribution tags, for example - he said, she said, etc. This example shows before and after using manual deletion: Original: "Ah, that's perfectly true!" exclaimed Alyosha. "Oh, do leave off playing the fool! Some idiot comes in, and you put us to shame!" cried the girl by the window, suddenly turning to her father with a disdainful and contemptuous air. "Wait a little, Varvara!" cried her father, speaking peremptorily but looking at them quite approvingly. "That's her character," he said, addressing Alyosha again. "Where have you been?" he asked him. "I think," he said, "I've forgotten something... my handkerchief, I think.... Well, even if I've not forgotten anything, let me stay a little." He sat down. Father stood over him. "You sit down, too," said he. All lower case sentence fragments manually removed: "Ah, that's perfectly true!" "Oh, do leave off playing the fool! Some idiot comes in, and you put us to shame!" "Wait a little, Varvara!" "That's her character," "Where have you been?" "I think," "I've forgotten something... my handkerchief, I think.... Well, even if I've not forgotten anything, let me stay a little." He sat down. Father stood over him. "You sit down, too," I've changed straight quotes " to balanced and tried: ” (...)+[.] Of course, this removes some fragments but deletes some text in balanced quotes and text starting with uppercase letters. [^A-Z] didn't work in the above expression. I realize that it may be impossible to achieve 100% accuracy but any useful expression, perl, or python script would be deeply appreciated. Cheers, Aaron

Clearly they're functions, but I was wondering if there's a more specific term. A couple examples of Python built-in functions that fit this spec are: 'len', 'dir', 'vars' I thought it was 'predicate', but apparently that's specific to functions that return a boolean value.

[Serializable] [System.Xml.Serialization.XmlRoot("Titles")] public partial class Titles : Collectable<Title> { } The problem is when I call the method, it expects "Collectable" to be the XmlRoot, but the XmlRoot is "Titles" (all of object Title). I have several classes that are collected in .xml files like this, but it seems pointless to rewrite the basic methods for loading each up when the generic accessors do it - but how can I enforce the proper root name for each file without hard coding methods for each one? The [System.Xml.Serialization.XmlRoot] seems to be ignored. When called like this... var titles = Repository.List<Models.Title>(); I get the exception <Titlesxmlns=''> was not expected.     hi how do i return after the first match of regular expression? (does the Matcher.find() method do that? ) say I have a string "abcdefgeee". I want to ask the regex engine stop finding immediately after it finds the first match of "e" for example.     I need to do a preg_replace for the exact opposite of this preg_match regular expression: preg_match('#^(\w+/){0,2}\w+\.\w+$#', $string); So I need to replace all strings that are not valid with an empty string - '' So it needs to remove the first / and last / if found, and all non-valid characters, that is the only valid characters are A-Z, a-z, 0-9, _, ., and / (if it's not the first or last characters of the string).
