  • Windows 7 taskbar icon grouping with multiple similar windows

    When I have a number of similar windows opens, for example, multiple explorer windows, they are all grouped into the same icon on the taskbar. When I hover over this I get a thumbnail of the window, and a piece of truncated text which is supposed to help me work out what that window is. However I also like to have the full path shown in explorer windows, so the truncated text is usually C:\CommonPathToEveryWind... I have noticed that if I have over 14 explorer windows open, then Windows gives up trying to display these useless thumbnails, and instead gives me a nicely formatted list of paths. My question is how can I customise this behaviour, to either disable thumbnails all together for a subset of applications where a thumbnail is inappropriate (explorer, 'Everything'); or to lower the max number of thumbnails per grouped taskbar icon to 2; or just to disable thumbnails all together, (without loosing the entire windows theme) Edit: Just to make it clear what I currently get, and what I actually want. I do still want to keep the grouping behaviour, so that multiple instances of the same program, Explorer for example, only take one slot on the taskbar.   • Overlapping audio in IE when I show/hide videos

    I have a thumbnail list with links to individual videos. Everything works fine in all browsers but IE. In IE, if I start a video and (without slicking pause or stop) click on the thumbnail for the next video, the audio continues playing. In other words, the audio for both videos plays at once. Any suggestions?   • CSS issue with multi-accordion

    Alright, I got some help earlier with this, but it never truly got resolved. I'm pretty sure I'm having a CSS issue, but I just can't figure out how to correct it. Currently, I have these accordions working perfectly, they collapse, expand, expand again when told to etc. The problem I'm having is aligning the content within these accordion divs. Ideally, when everything is default (collapsed) all I want seen is the thumbnail image and the Headline. Then if the user wishes, they click on the headline and it expands and if they want to make a comment or view comments, they can click once again to expand that. Here's the thing, I have to make the height 62px so everything will fit in and just not float all over the place. This creates a problem with the "View Comments" to "Text Here" area, as you can tell it has outrageous space between the two. The other issue is, as I currently have it I'm forcefully indenting the article text so that it doesn't TEXT WRAP underneath the thumbnail image. Basically, I want it split into 2 columns so nothing ever goes beneath the image, but working with this accordion and divs inside the divs it's proving to be difficult for me.   • Bind two images together to be dragged

    I'm looking for some help with a script to drag two images together at once. I currently have a script that allows me to drag thumbnail images into a collection bin to be saved later. However, some of my thumbnails have an image positioned over the top of them to represent these thumbnail images as "unknown" plants. I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction as to how I would go about binding these two images together to be dragged.     I have a layout roughly as follows: <div id="foo"> <!-- a bunch of content --> </div> <div id="thumbnails"> <div class="thumb-content1"></div> <div class="thumb-content2"></div> <div class="thumb-content3"></div> </div> <div id="content-1"> <!-- some text and pictures, including large-pic1 --> </div> <div id="content-2"> <!-- some text and pictures, including large-pic2 --> </div> <div id="content-3"> <!-- some text and pictures, including large-pic3 --> </div> etc .... On page load I want to show 'foo' and 'thumbnails' and hide the three content divs. As the user clicks each thumbnail, I want to hide foo, and replace it with the matching 'content-x'. I can get my head round jQuery show, hide and replace (although, bonus points if you want to include that in your example!). But how would I extract and construct the appropriate content id, from the thumbnail class, then pass it to the show hide code?

  • jquery $.ajax load in UI dialog() problem

    i have a working bing Image search api with jsonp datatype. It's working with no problems. When i load the image search script in a Jquery UI dialog, it display properly and i'm able to search and see the results in the dialog() box. But if i close the dialog() and open it again, now if i search no results show. Looking at console.log, i do confirm the jason data is recieved, but for some reason it's not appending to the result div, so i see no result on the screen. This onyl happens if i close the dialog and open it again. If i refresh refresh the page and open the dialog again then search results are displayed.     I have a large amount of jpeg thumbnail images ranging in size from 120x90 to 320x240 and I would like to classify them as either Real Life-like or Cartoon-like. Are there any applications that will have cartoon classification capabilities? This application should work on Linux, and should take an image path on the command-line and return either 0 or 1 (echo $?).

    I'm trying to lock down a kiosk PC and need to disable various 'Ctrl + key' keyboard shortcuts. I started by disabling them individually using AutoHotkey... ^F4::return ^w::return ^+w::return ^Esc::return ^+Esc::return ;etc... but keep discovering new ones shortcuts (did you know that 'Ctrl + Q' in IE8 displays a tab thumbnail page). So I tried to disable the Ctrl key completely using stuff like: LCtrl::return RCtrl::return ~Ctrl::return ^::return with no luck. Any ideas?

  • Network folder image thumbnails taking long time to load

    Our internal network folder can take up to 5 seconds to generate a thumbnail for each photo in a network folder. Usually, only 10% of thumbnails actually display; the rest are default jpg icons. A thumbs.db file already exists inside this folder, so presumably the thumbnails have been generated before. Why do they have to be generated again? The PC is Win7 64-bit. The server is Windows 2003 Server SP2.

  • Force Windows 7 to store thumbnails locally

    I want Windows 7 to store thumbnails cache files in the same folder as the files (thumbs.db) instead of using the centralized location for all thumbnails (By default %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer). How would one achieve this effect? Alternatively, if the former is implausible, I'd settle for no thumbnail caching at all, forcing Windows to regenerate thumbnails each time a folder is accessed.

    So, I just discovered that you can hide the filenames of pictures and videos when you are in a thumbnail view in explorer (via View - Hide file names)... but often I have other files mixed in. This causes the thumbnails to be all spaced out. How can I hide all file names (maybe folders too)?

  • solr php extension fails to run on newest Debian Wheezy

    I'm trying to use the Solr PHP extension on the recently-upgraded Debian Wheezy. It installs both from PECL and from sources flawlessly but instead of giving me expected functionality it gives me this on every PHP run: PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library '/usr/lib/php5/20100525/solr.so' - /usr/lib/php5/20100525/solr.so: undefined symbol: curl_easy_getinfo in Unknown on line 0 Also scripts which use the extension throws an error PHP Error[2]: include(SolrClient.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in file <...path to my autoloader...> My main point is that it was set up before and worked like a charm. In the upgrade among the relevant packages only the versions of PHP and libcurl was changed. Instance of Solr itself was left as is. I have all possible libcurl libraries: $ locate libcurl ... /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libcurl-gnutls.so.3 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libcurl-gnutls.so.4 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libcurl-gnutls.so.4.2.0 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libcurl.a /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libcurl.la /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libcurl.so /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libcurl.so.3 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libcurl.so.4 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libcurl.so.4.2.0 ... /usr/lib32/libcurl.so.3 /usr/lib32/libcurl.so.4 /usr/lib32/libcurl.so.4.2.0 ... I have instaled the php5-curl package version 5.4.4-2 with aptitude. I installed the Sorl extensions both with sudo pecl install solr (with various combinations of -f and -n flags and tried solr-beta too) and with wget ... cd ... phpize ./configure make make install I'm installing the 1.0.2 version of extension because it worked before the upgrade from Squeeze to Wheezy. As I said earlier, extension installs without any errors. I have already added the extension=solr.so incantation to the /etc/php5/mods-available/solr.ini What magic should I do to make solr extension work? Is this true that the only solution that I have is to downgrade the libcurl version as it was before the upgrade?

Here are some ways to structuring such a website: Putting up more than one article in one page and creating an infinite scroll or a pager. The fact that the articles may not be on the same topic makes this a less search engine friendly way. Giving a unique page to each article and putting up a list of links/titles in the front page with or without a teaser and a thumbnail. This might make the home page look unprofessional. Keeping the front page clean, without direct links to internal pages. Which method would be a search engine friendly and user friendly way to do this?

  • Adding UCM as a search source in Windows Explorer

    A customer recently pointed out to me that Windows 7 supports federated search within Windows Explorer. This means you can perform searches to external sources such as Google, Flickr, YouTube, etc right from within Explorer. While we do have the Desktop Integration Suite which offers searching within Explorer, I thought it would be interesting to look into this method which would not require any client software to implement. Basically, federated searching hooks up in Windows Explorer through the OpenSearch protocol. A Search Connector Descriptor file is run and it installs the search provider. The file is a .osdx file which is an OpenSearch Description document. It describes the search provider you are hooking up to along with the URL for the query. If those results can come back as an RSS or ATOM feed, then you're all set. So the first step is to install the RSS Feeds component from the UCM Samples page on OTN. If you're on 11g, I've found the RSS Feeds works just fine on that version too. Next, you want to perform a Quick Search with a particular search term and then copy the RSS link address for that search result. Here is what an example URL might looks like: http://server:16200/cs/idcplg?IdcService=GET_SCS_FEED&feedName=search_results&QueryText=%28+%3cqsch%3eoracle%3c%2fqsch %3e+%29&SortField=dInDate&SortOrder=Desc&ResultCount=20&SearchQueryFormat= Universal&SearchProviders=server& Now you want to create a new text file and start out with this information: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><OpenSearchDescription xmlns:ms-ose="http://schemas.microsoft.com/opensearchext/2009/"> <ShortName></ShortName> <Description></Description> <Url type="application/rss+xml" template=""/> <Url type="text/html" template=""/> </OpenSearchDescription> Enter a ShortName and Description. The ShortName will be the value used when displaying the search provider in Explorer. In the template attribute for the first Url element, enter the URL copied previously. You will then need to convert the ampersand symbols to '&' to make them XML compliant. Finally, you'll want to switch out the search term with '{searchTerms}'. For the second Url element, you can do the same thing except you want to copy the UCM search results URL from the page of results. That URL will look something like: http://server:16200/cs/idcplg?IdcService=GET_SEARCH_RESULTS&SortField=dInDate&SortOrder=Desc&ResultCount=20&QueryText=%3Cqsch%3Eoracle%3C%2Fqsch%3E&listTemplateId= &ftx=1&SearchQueryFormat=Universal&TargetedQuickSearchSelection= &MiniSearchText=oracle Again, convert the ampersand symbols and replace the search term with '{searchTerms}'. When complete, save the file with the .osdx extension. The completed file should look like: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <OpenSearchDescription xmlns="http://a9.com/-/spec/opensearch/1.1/" xmlns:ms-ose="http://schemas.microsoft.com/opensearchext/2009/"> <ShortName>Universal Content Management</ShortName> <Description>OpenSearch for UCM via Windows 7 Search Federation.</Description> <Url type="application/rss+xml" template="http://server:16200/cs/idcplg?IdcService=GET_SCS_FEED&amp;feedName=search_results&amp;QueryText=%28+%3Cqsch%3E{searchTerms}%3C%2fqsch%3E+%29&amp;SortField=dInDate&amp;SortOrder=Desc&amp;ResultCount=200&amp;SearchQueryFormat=Universal"/> <Url type="text/html" template="http://server:16200/cs/idcplg?IdcService=GET_SEARCH_RESULTS&amp;SortField=dInDate&amp;SortOrder=Desc&amp;ResultCount=20&amp;QueryText=%3Cqsch%3E{searchTerms}%3C%2Fqsch%3E&amp;listTemplateId=&amp;ftx=1&amp;SearchQueryFormat=Universal&amp;TargetedQuickSearchSelection=&amp;MiniSearchText={searchTerms}"/> </OpenSearchDescription> After you save the file, simply double-click it to create the provider. It will ask if you want to add the search connector to Windows. Click Add and it will add it to the Searches folder in your user folder as well as your Favorites. Now just click on the search icon and in the upper right search box, enter your term. As you are typing, it begins executing searches and the results will come back in Explorer. Now when you double-click on an item, it will try and download the web viewable for viewing. You also have the ability to save the search, just as you would in UCM. And there is a link to Search On Website which will launch your browser and go directly to the search results page there. And with some tweaks to the RSS component, you can make the results a bit more interesting. It supports the Media RSS standard, so you can pass along the thumbnail of the documents in the results. To enable this, edit the rss_resources.htm file in the RSS Feeds component. In the std_rss_feed_begin resource include, add the namespace 'xmlns:media="http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/' to the rss definition: <rss version="2.0" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:sy="http://purl.org/rss/1.0/modules/syndication/" xmlns:media="http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/"> Next, in the rss_channel_item_with_thumb include, below the closing image element, add this element: </images> <media:thumbnail url="<$if strIndexOf(thumbnailUrl, "@t") > 0 or strIndexOf(thumbnailUrl, "@g") > 0 or strIndexOf(thumbnailUrl, "@p") > 0$><$rssHttpHost$><$thumbnailUrl$><$elseif dGif$><$HttpWebRoot$>images/docgifs/<$dGif$><$endif$>" /> <description> This and lots of other tweaks can be done to the RSS component to help extend it for optimum use in Explorer.     I am looking for a specific content management platform that would display themes for my application. Requirements are as folllows: Any user can upload content, but has to be approved by an administrator When the user uploads the content, an external application is called to generate a thumbnail I could create this using codeigniter or something, but I would much prefer to use an existing system. I have experience with Drupal (seems a little bloated for my needs), and Wordpress (I'm using it as main website right now). Maybe I need a plugin for WordPress instead of another CMS. WordPress currently blocks uploads of my file type. I can modify it, but it's a pain to update it every time WordPress has a new release.
