  If I wanted to add, let's say, a new .lib to the build only if a particular #define was set, how would I do that? In the MSVC++ 2008 "Property Pages", you would simply add: Config Properties -> Linker -> Input -> Additional Dependencies, but I would like it if something like #define COMPILE_WITH_DETOURS was set, then the particular library would be added to the dependencies, otherwise it would be removed.   I was drawing a path into a layer. Lets say I can't access that drawing code in any way, because it comes from a compiled lib. Now I want to let that layer throw a shadow which matches the shape of its irregular content shape. Is there an easy way to do it? Or must I draw like 20 of those layers and scale them up on every iteration, adjusting their alpha and letting the GPU do the extraordinarily heavy compositing?

• Is there a standard place to store Spring library jar files?

  I've downloaded Spring 3.0.2 with dependencies and found that it contains 405 jar files. I usually keep third party libraries in a "lib" subdirectory, but there are so many Spring jars that it seems sensible to keep them separately so that they don't swamp the other libraries and to simplify version upgrades. I suspect that I want to keep the full set of libraries in Subversion, but only deploy the subset that is actually used. Do Spring users have a standard way to deal with this problem?

  Given a PDF, how can one get the layout mode of a PDF (or relative width/height) using a PHP lib or linux command line tool? Using http://www.tecnick.com/public/code/cp%5Fdpage.php?aiocp%5Fdp=tcpdf which can set this variable on new PDFs, but for existing pdfs from adobe. Thought of converting pdfs to ps, or using gs in some other way - like converting it to an image first, and getting the width and height of that. Is this the best way?

  I wrote a wrapper DLL for some native c++ functions and compiled it in c++/CLI, then I added a reference to C# project, functions indicates there, but when I try compile project I get this error: "Additional information: Could not load file or assembly 'lib, Version=1.0.3742.39593, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies.
