  • Application_EndRequest Dosent Fire on a 404

    - by Shane
I am using ASP MVC 2 and Nhibernate. I have created an HTTP Module as demonstrated in Summer of NHibernate 13 that looks like so: public void Init(HttpApplication context) { context.PreRequestHandlerExecute += new EventHandler(Application_BeginRequest); context.PostRequestHandlerExecute += new EventHandler(Application_EndRequest); } private void Application_BeginRequest(object sender, EventArgs e) { ISession session = StaticSessionManager.OpenSession(); session.BeginTransaction(); CurrentSessionContext.Bind(session); } private void Application_EndRequest(object sender, EventArgs e) { ISession session = CurrentSessionContext.Unbind(StaticSessionManager.SessionFactory); if (session != null) try { session.Transaction.Commit(); } catch (Exception) { session.Transaction.Rollback(); } finally { session.Flush(); session.Close(); } } web.config <add name="UnitOfWork" type="HttpModules.UnitOfWork"/> My problem is that Application_EndRequest never gets called on a 404 error so if my view does not render I completely block database access until my flush takes place. I am fairly new to NHibernate so I am not sure if I am missing something.

  • PHP: form input field names containing square brackets like field[index]

    - by gidireich
Hi, I've seen lot of code that handle forms, which creates input fields with names containing square brackets. I understand that this is being somehow converted to PHP arrays when a PHP script examines the $_POST variable. My questions about this: What is the mechanism behind? At which point this names that merely contain brackets are converted to arrays? Is this a feature of the HTPP protocol? Of web servers? Of the PHP language? Continuing the previous question, is this a commonly used hack or a normal programming tool? What are (all) the rules of using brackets in input field names? Can multidimensional arrays be created this way? Thanks, Gidi

  • change svn message editor

    - by Scott
So my co-worker felt it necessary to go onto my development box and do some code changes, then submit his work to subversion. I never set the commit message editor, and all of a sudden, one day I forgot to add the -m handle and apparently he set the default editor to emacs. Being that I don't know the first thing about emacs and prefer vim myself, how do I go about changing the default editor for svn commands to vim after it's already been set. I deleted the .subversion directory under the home directory, and it still prompts me.

  • Svn: how to remove all deleted files from repository ?

    - by Patrick
I have a script in which I add all new files before to commit my working copy to my repository with this line: svn status | grep ^\? | awk '{print $2}' | xargs svn add I now want to add a line that delete from repository all deleted files in my working copy. In other terms, I cannot specify them one by one, and I need to detect them with svn status and then automatically remove them. However the line doesn't work. svn status | grep ^\! | awk '{print $2}' | xargs svn --force delete As you can see I've replaced "?" with "!" and "add" with "--force delete" Could you tell me why it doesn't work ? ps. I know it is a risky procedure. I've already discussed all about it. thanks thanks

  • Are your redirects HTTP compliant (absolute URI)?

    - by webbiedave
In the Hypertext Transfer Protocol 1.1 spec, it states for the Location header: The field value consists of a single absolute URI. Location = "Location" ":" absoluteURI An example is: Location: http://www.w3.org/pub/WWW/People.html I have coded many an app that doesn't include the scheme and domain (i.e., /thankyou/) and every browser I've ever tested with redirects correctly. I'm wondering if it's imperative to go back and change all my redirect code or just ignore this part of the spec. Have many of you produced code that doesn't comply and will you go back and change it? Or will you just trust that clients will continue to resolve them well into the future? (going forward I will certainly adhere to this)

  • The time-to-reach-queue has elapsed

    - by nieve
I'm attempting to send a message to a remote private queue from an error queue with powershell. The code I use looks like this: $msg = $src_q.Peek() $msg.Label = GetLabelWithoutFailedQueue($msg) $msg.UseDeadLetterQueue = $true $msg.UseTracing = $true $msg.AcknowledgeType = [System.Messaging.AcknowledgeTypes]::NegativeReceive $msg.TimeToBeReceived = [System.TimeSpan]::FromSeconds(10) $msg.TimeToReachQueue = [System.TimeSpan]::FromSeconds(10) $tx = new-object System.Messaging.MessageQueueTransaction $tx.Begin() $dest_q.Send($msg, $tx) $tx.Commit() The message keeps on appearing on the transactional dead letter queue with the class: "The time-to-reach-queue has elapsed." Anyone's got any idea what could trigger such an error? The queue definitely exists- I do manage to peek it. Also, the reason I get the message from the error queue by peeking is just for testing purposes; I have tried doing the same thing with Receive and the result is the same.

  • Fork a process and send data to it inside Rails

    - by taro
I'm making a Rails application. In the one action I need to spawn a long running process. This is not a problem. I can fork new process using spawn gem or some other. But some time after process has been spawned, user must be able to pass additional data to that process. Sure, I can fork process which will listen a UNIX socket, store socket address in the HTTP session and communicate with that process using drb protocol when user will require to pass new data to process. But I think it is not best solution and it will be a problem to deploy an application to the hosting. What is the easy way to do that?

    - by Hiyasat
Hi All, I have 2 projects, each one have a WebConfig file, and i want to edit the 2 webconfig files from one place, and i try to do this: string configPath = "/"; Configuration confUI = WebConfigurationManager.OpenWebConfiguration("~"); Configuration confProtocol = WebConfigurationManager.OpenWebConfiguration(configPath); AppSettingsSection appSettingsUI = (AppSettingsSection)confUI.GetSection("appSettings"); AppSettingsSection appSettingsProtocol = (AppSettingsSection)confProtocol.GetSection("appSettings"); if (appSettingsUI != null & appSettingsProtocol != null) { appSettingsUI.Settings[key].Value = value; appSettingsProtocol.Settings[key].Value = value; confUI.Save(); confProtocol.Save(); } The problem that confProtocol is set to empty. How to set The WebConfig path of the Protocol Project from the UI Project?

  • Mericural "no username supplied" error on Mac

    - by theDuncs
I've just installed Mercurial on my Mountain Lion Max (10.8) and on my first commit I'm getting the error: abort: no username supplied (see "hg help config") I've seen a load of answers which suggest I need to create or copy a file form a certain location and paste it into another location and add my username and email to the document. If that is the right thing to do: Where is the file I need to copy (or what is the file called that I need to create) Where do I put that file Do I just need to add the following two lines to the file? [ui] username = Your Name Thanks guys.

  • Connection to embedded device with Windows and .Net

    - by tim
I am building a .net application(xp, vista, 7) that will communicate with an embedded device. I will be able to connect via IP, serial port and modem. Question: Should I allow some type of open connection within my application that will allow me to connect to the device through some other channels that may be set up in the operating system just to allow future extensibility without really having to change anything on the device? I was just imagining that the operating system would be able to serve all communication channels that may be setup through the operating system to the device. Like would an admin setup some channel through SMTP or other protocol. I just didn’t want to box myself in and ignore some more open architecture. Thanks.

  • Record Name field in DNS responce

    - by Lescott
I just read about DNS protocol, and found, that the name field can be writen in two ways: lenght of the next label the label lenght of the next label the label ... zero-byte pointer to the previous name field Next is the original article fragment: The Resource Record Name field is encoded in the same way as the Question Name field unless the name is already present elsewhere in the DNS message, in which case a 2-byte field is used in place of a length-value encoded name and acts as a pointer to the name that is already present. So, my question is, how can I determine the first or the second way is using in a package?

  • How to best work with a "forked" a git repo, and push some new features back to origin

    - by Jesper Blad Jensen aka. Deldy
Hi all, I'm having a blog-project on GibHub, where a friend of mine, wants to base his code on. He will make some changes to some files that he do not wish to commit back to me (maybe stylesheets and images), but he will maybe implement a new feature that he would like to push back to my project. He should also be able to get new code from me, where he would like to get all new stuff. I've looked around, and it seams that Rebase is the way to go for him, to get updates from me, but how can he most easily push a feature back to me? (He is just learning Git, as well as me)

  • Non intrusive notification without audio?

    - by acidzombie24
i have a C# app that registers a protocol. When you click BLAH://djfhgjfdghjkd in a browser it launches my app. However you can click multiple links and each link is a note added into the app. How can i inform the user that he did fully click the link? Right now i have a console app showing up for 1sec (basically pops up and goes away as fast as possible) which felt better then a hidden console since you are unsure if it went through. The 1 second takes a lot of time when you are trying to rapidly click many notes/links and the console gets in the way. What can i do that is noticeable? I'm thinking have a box that comes up (and is semi transparent) but the click passes through it. Maybe there is a better way? Also i wouldnt know where to start with transparent windows or pass through clicks

  • TSQL - create a stored proc inside a transaction statement

    - by Chris L
I have a sql script that is set to roll to production. I've wrapped the various projects into separate transactions. In each of the transactions we created stored procedures. I'm getting error messages Msg 156, Level 15, State 1, Line 4 Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'procedure'. I created this example script to illustrate Begin Try Begin Transaction -- do a bunch of add/alter tables here -- do a bunch of data manipulation/population here -- create a stored proc create procedure dbo.test as begin select * from some_table end Commit End Try Begin Catch Rollback Declare @Msg nvarchar(max) Select @Msg=Error_Message(); RaisError('Error Occured: %s', 20, 101,@Msg) With Log; End Catch The error seems to imply that I can't create stored procs inside of transaction, but I'm not finding any docs that say otherwise(maybe google isn't being freindly today).

Can you give solution to the above problem keeping a Windows setup in mind?

  • git: Your branch is Ahead by X commits

    - by SeanJA
How does this actually come about? I am working in one repo by myself at the moment, so this is my workflow: 1- change files 2- commit 4- repeat until satisfied 4- push to master Then when I do a git status it tells me that my branch is ahead by X commits (presumably the same number of commits that I have made). Is it because when you push the code it doesn't actually update your locally cached files (in the .git folders)? git pull seems to 'fix' this strange message, but I am still curious why it happens, maybe I am using git wrong?

  • Rails: Thread won't affect database unless joined to main Thread

    - by hatboysam
I have a background operation I would like to occur every 20 seconds in Rails given that some condition is true. It kicked off when a certain controller route is hit, and it looks like this def startProcess argId = self.id t = Thread.new do while (Argument.isRunning(argId)) do Argument.update(argId) Argument.markVotes(argId) puts "Thread ran" sleep 20 end end end However, this code does absolutely nothing to my database unless I call "t.join" in which case my whole server is blocked for a long time (but it works). Why can't the read commit ActiveRecords without being joined to the main thread? The thread calls methods that look something like def sample model = Model.new() model.save() end but the models are not saved to the DB unless the thread is joined to the main thread. Why is this? I have been banging my head about this for hours.

  • Git on live Windows Server - Trying to pull from the repo but local files already modified

    - by Chris
I have my Git repository hosted at github.com. I would like to push updates and such to github.com and then log into my Windows server and do a git pull to get my changes (that are verified to work on my local machine. Ideally I should have another server setup as my local machine settings are different from the live server. But I'm cheap.). It seems like whenever I try to do a git pull on the server, the files seem to get modified somehow since the last pull. And so I am unable to get the update as git says I need to commit my local (Windows server) changes. How can I use git like I want to? Or is there a better way?

  • What do I do with a Concrete Syntax Tree?

    - by Cap
I'm using pyPEG to create a parse tree for a simple grammar. The tree is represented using lists and tuples. Here's an example: [('command', [('directives', [('directive', [('name', 'retrieve')]), ('directive', [('name', 'commit')])]), ('filename', [('name', 'f30502')])])] My question is what do I do with it at this point? I know a lot depends on what I am trying to do, but I haven't been able to find much about consuming/using parse trees, only creating them. Does anyone have any pointers to references I might use? Thanks for your help.

  • Mercurial - Files nog showing on server (ls command)

    - by Bumbolt
I'm trying to setup a java buildserver with jenkins, maven and mercurial. Now my mercurial server is working i can push, pull and commit. Running the command 'hg serve' on the server allows me to see commits from my clients. But when i go manually into the repository (cd in server-terminal) and do an 'ls' command i can't see any file. When i clone the repository onto a new client i DO recieve the files pushed by the other clients. This is somewhat strange behaviour. Does anyone recognize this? What should i do to fix this?

  • Alternative way to notify the user of an error

    - by Lily
I have a winform software that communicates with hardware through a protocol. Sometimes error in communication happens and i would like to notify the user. Errors could be for example: timeouts, crc errors, physical disconnection etc... I have a communication window in which i show these errors, but by default this is hidden. The user can open it though the menubar. Popups are annoying to the user (and to myself) so i would like a un-invasive way to notify the user that an error has occurred. Perhaps a info bubble like when XP tells you updates are ready for your computer? I know that NotifyIcon can help put things in the system tray, which i do not wish to have. I'd rather keep it within my MDI. I'm open to other creative ideas as well.

  • What benefit would I get when using MessageQueueTransaction with ReceiveCompleted event in MessageQu

    - by Jeffrey
I understand the benefit when using MessageQueueTransaction in the below scenario where 5 messages will be wrapped in a single transaction and until the transaction has been committed 5 individual ReceiveCompleted events will then be raised. using(var t = new MessageQueueTransaction()) using(var q = new MessageQueue("queue path here")) { t.Begin(); q.Send(new Message); q.Send(new Message); q.Send(new Message); q.Send(new Message); t.Commit(); } I understand the usefulness when using Peek() and Receive() which has been mentioned in this question. However I am wondering would I get any benefit when combining MessageQueueTransaction with ReceiveCompleted event.

  • list(of byte) to Picturebox

    - by michael
I have a jpeg file that is being held as a list(of Byte) Currently I have code that I can use to load and save the jpeg file as either a binary (.jpeg) or a csv of bytes (asadsda.csv). I would like to be able to take the list(of Byte) and convert it directly to a Picturebox without saving it to disk and then loading it to the picturebox. If you are curious, the reason I get the picture file as a list of bytes is because it gets transfered over serial via an industrial byte oriented protocol as just a bunch of bytes. I am using VB.net, but C# example is fine too.

  • Rspec > testing database views

    - by Sean McCleary
How can database views be tested in Rspec? Every scenario is wrapped in a transaction and the data does not look like it is being persisted to the database (MySQL in my case). My view returns with an empty result set because none of the records are being persisted in the transaction. I am validating that the records are not being stored by setting a debug point in my spec and checking my data with a database client while the spec is being debugged. The only way I can think to have my view work would be if I could commit the transaction before the end of the scenario and then clear the database after the scenario is complete. Does anyone know how to accomplish this or is there a better way? Thanks
