  • Html 5 &ndash; new size units

    There are some new size units with CSS 3, which allows you to resize elements relative to the viewport size. They are vw, vh, vmin (that’s vm in IE), and perhaps vmax. (Viewport width, height, smaller of the two, larger of the two.) 8vw is 8% of the viewport width – or 205 pixels on my 2560 screen. I created a tiny demo clock which sizes the elements so that it uses the whole screen. Clock – in Norwegian, but it’s the source that is interesting… Bug: Resize does not work. Tested for IE 9 & 10 and Chrome. Firefox and Safari: does not work.

    Hello I have 2 frames in one page like this (home.html) <frameset rows="50%, 50%"> <frame id="treeContent" src="treeContent.html" /> <frame id="treeStatus" src="treeStatus.html" /> </frameset> and then in one frame (treeStatus.html) I have something like <body style="margin: 0px"> <div id="statusText">Status bar for Tree</div> </body> I want from the top window to manipulate the div located in the child frame via jquery (e.g show and hide). I have seen several questions like this and they suggest the following $(document).ready(function(){ $('#treeStatus').contents().find("statusText").hide(); }); I do not know if this works with iframes but in my case where I have simple frames it does not seem to work. The code is placed inside home.html Here is some output from firebug console >>> $('#treeStatus') [frame#treeStatus] >>> $('#treeStatus').contents() [] >>> $('#treeStatus').children() [] So how do I access frame elements from the top frame? Am I missing something here?

  • JQuery quiz app - use <id> tag to toggle variable on/off

    Hi, I am writing a jquery phonegap quiz app and have a number of categories from which a user can select via checkbox. Relevant questions belonging to those categories are then returned. However, I have two huge switch statements to change the relevant variables from 0 to 1 if the checkbox for that category is selected and vice versa (this info is used to build a compound db query). The value of the variable behind the checkbox is only ever 0 or 1, so is there a better way to do this?     Hi!! I'm facing an issue here. A customer asked me to copy an exact site, and even though I'm trying to convince him of going for a new design he does not accept it. He loves this design so much (on a side note it's horrible and outdated, but I wouldn't say that to him!) It's been a couple of weeks since we are discussing this and I don't know what to do. Do you have similar experiences? I don't want to lose the customer, he pays well and his jobs are really easy. At the same time, I don't want to put my signature on someone else's work.     Hi, i'm not sure to explain what i'm looking for. What's the name of the "source code parser" for publish code, in HTML ? For example, when i write some source code here in stack overflow, system auto-detect the sintax and write "correct" source code in html. I've noticed that exists the HTML <"code" tag, but it simply write source code in "courier" font. So i'm asking you if exists some "external" component that, given a text, parse it out correctly in a HTML page. Thank you!

  • Copying Tables from a Website

    I have difficulty making an Excel-readable file from a table on a Website. The problems very specific to my question are: I have to use IE 7 to access the site. Excel is installed in another computer. The site does not let me view the HTML of the table. Normally, I would simply select the table I want and drag and drop it to Excel. Or, I would view the page source and copy the HTML data. Both do not work in this case. Is there any handy tool out there?

But the code does nothing.     Is there a way to specify certain part of a html file as another encoding? The default encoding for the (generated) html is utf-8. However, some of the included data to be inserted in the html is in another encoding. It's something like: <div> the normal html in utf-8 </div> <div> <%= raw_data_in_another_encoding %> </div> Is there a way to hint a browser to render the 2nd <div> in another encoding? thanks

  • Having onFocus do several things.

    So I have this input tag <input ... onFocus=...> and what I want is for a warning popup to come up if somebody clicks to write in the input field. After the person has read the warning he/she closes the popup and can continue to write in the field. I have managed to implement the popup just fine but my problem is that I lose focus on the input field when the popup comes up so the next time I click the field the popup comes back again and im back on square one. The system I work on uses php and javascript so and I cannot use anything other than that to solve the problem and my experience with both php and javascript is limited.

    I'm trying to fill a document with a SVG image using the width="100%" and height="100%" properties, I have height="100%" in html and body tags too, and different colours for body(red) and svg(blue). Result is a full height svg but with a scrollbar in the right, and a thin line of red(body) at the bottom. ¿How can I fill the document with the svg without the scrollbar? Thanks. For example, I want any detail- prefixed class names to get targeted from the following sample links. <a href="eg.html" class="detail-1 pinkify another"> <a href="eg.html" class="something detail-55 minded"> <a href="eg.html" class="swing narrow detail-Z"> <a href="eg.html" class="swing narrow detail-Z detail-88 detail-A"> It's reminiscent of how [class|="detail"] prefix selector works on a scalar attribute value, and also of .hasClass(className), but my question needs both concepts applied simultaneously. Note: The detail- prefix won't necessarily be the first class name of the bunch.
