• Apache APC (Windows) Can I optimize these APC settings more?

  I would like to optimize APC some more but I am not sure where I could do something. • How does KMS (Windows Server 2008 R2) differentiate clients?

  I have recently installed a KMS Server in our domain and deployed 75 new Windows 7 machines using an image I made using Acronis True Image. There are 2 variations of this image rolled out currently. When I go to activate the machines it returns that the KMS count is not sufficient. On the server with a slmgr /dlv it shows: Key Management Service is enabled on this machine. Current count: 2 Listening on Port: 1688 DNS publishing enabled KMS Priority: Normal KMS cumulative requests received from clients: 366 Failed requests received: 2 Requests with License status unlicensed: 0 Requests with License status licensed: 0 Requests with License status Initial Grace period: 1 Requests with License statusLicense expired or hardware out of tolerance: 0 Requests with License status Non genuine grace period: 0 Requests with License status Notification: 363 Is it to do with the fact that I've used the same image for all the PC's? If so how do I get round this. Would changing the SID help? OK knowing I've been thick whats the best way to rectify the situation. Can I sysprep the machines to OOBE on each individual machine? Or would NewSID work?

  I'm unable to retrieve data from an XML document, any help is greatly appreciated. I'm using PHP 5.2.10 and the WSDL url is an internal link within my company. • How to process AJAX requests more securely in PHP?

  Ok, so I want to send AJAX requests to my website from my Flash games to process data, but I don't want people downloading them, decompiling them, then sending fake requests to be processed, so I'm trying to figure out the most secure way to process in the PHP files. My first idea was to use Apache's built in Authorization module to require a username and password to access the pages on a separate subdomain of my website, but then you'd have to include that username and password in the AJAX request anyway so that seems kind of pointless to even try. My current option looks pretty promising but I want to make sure it will work. Basically it just checks the IP address being sent using REMOTE_ADDR to make sure it's the IP address that my server runs on. <? $allowed = new Array("64.120.211.89", "64.120.211.90"); if (!in_array($_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'], $allowed)) header("HTTP/1.1 403 Forbidden"); ?> Both of those IP addresses point to my server. Things I'm worried about: 1) If I send a request from Flash/ActionScript, will that affect the IP address in any way? 2) Is it possible for malicious users to change the IP address that is being sent with REMOTE_ADDR to one of my IP addresses? Any other ways you would suggest that might be more secure?

  I have a web application that reads the values of a few input fields (alphanumeric) and constructs a very simple xml that is passes to the server, using jQuery's $.ajax() method. The template for that xml is: <request> <session>[some-string]</session> <space>[some-string]</space> <plot>[some-string]</plot> ... </request> Sending such requests to the server when the inputs contain Finnish diacritical characters (such as ä or ö) raises a problem in terms of character encoding with different browsers. • Ensure that my C# desktop application is making requests to my ASP .NET MVC action?

  I've seen questions that are almost identical to this one, except minor but important differences that I would like to get detailed. Let's say that I have a controller and an action method in MVC which therefore accepts requests on the following URL: http://example.com/api/myapimethod?data=some-data-here. This URL is then being called regularly by 1000 clients or more spread out in the public. The reason for this is crowdsourcing. The clients around the globe help feed a global cache on my server, which makes it faster for the rest of the clients to fetch the data. Now, if I'm sneaky (and I am), I can go into Fiddler, Ethereal, Wireshark or any other packet sniffing tool and figure out which requests the program is making. By figuring that out, I can also replicate them, and fill the service with false corrupted data. What is the best approach to ensuring that the data received in my ASP .NET MVC action method is actually from the desktop client application, and not some falsely generated data that the user invented? Since it is all based on crowdsourcing, would it be a good idea for my users to be able to "vote" if some data is falsified, and then let an automatic cleanup commence if there are enough votes? I do not have access to a tool like SmartAssembly, so unfortunately my .NET program is fully decompilable. I realize this might be impossible to accomplish in an error-proof manner, but I would like to know where my best chances are.

• Server 2012 intermittently fails to respond to pings from single host, even with firewall disabled, but responds to non-ICMP requests fine

  This one is kind of weird. I've got the following machines involved: DC01 - 10.1.2.42, Server 2012, domain controller & DNS server, physical machine nagiosv - 10.1.2.35, CentOS 6.4, Nagios, virtual machine CB01 - 10.1.3.81, Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, couchbase server, virtual machine So, I noticed something was wrong while configuring this new Nagios VM. I started seeing DC01's state flapping. I logged into nagiosv when I saw this happening, and attempted to ping DC01, both by FQDN and its IP address. Neither worked. I tried pinging the machine from CB01, which is another VM on the same virtual switch/physical NIC as nagiosv, and that worked fine. Pings still failing from nagiosv at this time. DC01 is also an internal DNS server, so I ran dig google.com from nagiosv, and was able to run a query against DC01 just fine: ;; Query time: 1 msec ;; SERVER: 10.1.2.42#53(10.1.2.42) ;; WHEN: Fri Nov 1 07:53:51 2013 ;; MSG SIZE rcvd: 204 Pings still failing from nagiosv, though. I can ping from DC01 to nagiosv, and that works, and I can still ping from other VMs on the same physical NIC into DC01, and that works. I should mention at this point that I've disabled the firewall on DC01 for testing purposes, and it doesn't make a damned bit of difference. (Even with the firewall enabled, I have a blanket exception for ICMP from the local subnet, so it shouldn't make a difference, but I figured I should test it anyway.) I loaded up Wireshark on DC01 and pinged it from nagiosv again. What I see is a bunch of echo requests coming in and not a single reply going back out. Filtered results here, showing all ICMP traffic during a 15-second period. A few more bits of info: There are no IP conflicts on the network. MAC addresses on the incoming pings match the MAC on the VM. There are no duplicate MACs on the network, as far as I can see. I have absolutely no idea why DC01 is failing to respond, here. Any ideas?

• Authlogic OpenID: Fetching E-Mail from Provider.

  This is a really weird problem: I have set up the authlogic_openid_selector_example app. When i register, the email id is not returned by the openid provider the first time. But if i delete the account and register again, the email id is returned. But this doesn't seem to be happening in the example hosted here: http://big-glow-mama.heroku.com/. How do i fix this problem? Has this got to do with caching? I have hosted my version of the app here: http://pingauthtest.heroku.com/ I guess the author of authlogic_openid_selector_example app (@holden) has forgotten to commit new changes. :) I looked at my development log and the first time the provider doesn't return the openid.ext1.value.ext0 which contains the email id. This is returned the second time only after having deleted the account first. I'd like to cache the requests in the style of NSURLCache. ASI doesn't seem to support caching as is, and I looked at the code and it drops to C to create the requests, so inserting the NSURLCache layer seemed tricky. What's the best way to implement this?

  I'm rewriting query strings to pretty URIs, example: index.php?q=/en/contact becomes /en/contact and all works nicely.. # httpd.conf # HANDLE THE QUERY RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA] Is it even possible to rewrite single queries to force https and force everything else onto http? I've tried many different approaches that typically end in infinate loops. I could write a plugin to do this in PHP but figured it would be more effecient to handle this in the server conf. I'd be greatful for any advice. EDIT: To clarify, I'd like to be able to rewrite the non SSL http://example.com/index.php?q=/en/contact to the SSL enabled https://example.com/en/contact and every query that is not /en/contact get written to http://example.com/...

• PHP5 giving failed to open stream: HTTP request failed error when using fopen.

  Hello everyone. This problem seems to have been discussed in the past everywhere on google and here, but I have yet to find a solution. A very simple fopen gives me a PHP Warning: fopen(http://www.google.ca): failed to open stream: HTTP request failed!". The URL I am fetching have no importance because even when I fetch http://www.google.com it doesnt work. The exact same script works on different server. The one failing is Ubuntu 10.04 and PHP 5.3.2. This is not a problem in my script, it's something different in my server or it might be a bug in PHP. I have tried using a user_agent in php.ini but no success. My allow_url_fopen is set to On. If you have any ideas, feel free!

  This might sound a little crazy, but bare with me. I basically have an include file, lets say inc-navigation.html, that has absolute paths (http://www.pathtoimage.com/image.com) that are on EVERY PAGE. Well, using SSL, I can't use that same include file because it is not referencing https:// What a pain! SO, I was maybe thinking of using htaccess to do a url rewrite of all references of HTTP to HTTPS when the browser requests a https page. Again, just to be clear, I don't want to "redirect", just "replace". So, I have this.... RewriteCond %{HTTPS} !=on RewriteRule ^http$ https but it doesn't seem to be working. I probably have the syntax wrong though. :) Of course, this is even if this type of thing is even possible!?

  I have 2 websites deployed in IIS 7.5 Express. The first website is the PRODUCTION website and the second is the TEST website. In the PRODUCTION website, I added an HTTPS binding and Require SSL so it is normal that it will force to redirect from HTTP to HTTPS. In the TEST website, I didn't add HTTPS binding and the Require SSL is disabled but I wonder why it still force to redirect from HTTP to HTTPS. Any idea why this happen? By the way, the PRODUCTION site uses the main domain (www.maindomain.com) and the TEST site uses only sub-domain (test.maindomain.com). I don't want the sub-domain to only use HTTP, not HTTPS.   Hi, Its been a couple of weeks that some sites just keeps on hanging. e.g. Facebooks = static.ak.fbcdn.net FLicker = l.yimg.com GoogleAnalytics I've googled and found many problems like this and some answers which are outdated or just doesn't solve the problem. I did: Cookies clearing, ran cc cleaner and several other nifty methods. None solved my problem?? Only with facebook, if I enter https:// manually instead of http:// on every url on facebook, it works and when it does the redirection to http://, everytime I have to type 's' on the address bar to make it https:// It is driving me nuts coz I'm developing Facebook App and this problem in being pain in my ass.   I'm starting to learn more on the back-end scale of programing. Recently I started up Heroku for the second or third time. This time I actually installed the Git update to my Mac and installed Heroku in the terminal. I wanted to upload a static html site with the sinatra gem. Everything worked out fine inside the terminal, though I added sinatra after I got everything working and the file with the site hooked up to Heroku. In my logs I did see that I was missing the sinatra gem, so I installed it. My site contains both the proper app.rb and config.ru files. I have nothing showing up online. Just a blank screen! Contacting Heroku on this problem has been very difficult. • Hosting a website on Heroku.... I know how to, but im running into problems!

  I'm starting to learn more on the back-end scale of programing. Recently I started up Heroku for the second or third time. This time I actually installed the Git update to my Mac and installed Heroku in the terminal. I wanted to upload a static html site with the Sinatra gem. Everything worked out fine inside the terminal, though I added Sinatra after I got everything working and the file with the site hooked up to Heroku. In my logs I did see that I was missing the Sinatra gem, so I installed it. My site contains both the proper app.rb and config.ru files. I have nothing showing up online. Just a blank screen! Contacting Heroku on this problem has been very difficult. • lucid 10.04 LTS => Precise 12.04.1 : upgrade doesn't work

  I googled and looked into all unkown issues on ubuntu forums but I can't figure out why a 10.04 LTS server won't detect the last LTS 12.04.1. I guess since 12.04 is a fresh dist, not much is reported for related issues Here is what I did : apt-get update apt-get upgrade apt-get install update-manager-core it was already installed so no update for this package. I checked : /etc/update-manager/release-upgrades [DEFAULT] # Default prompting behavior, valid options: # # never - Never check for a new release. # normal - Check to see if a new release is available. If more than one new # release is found, the release upgrader will attempt to upgrade to # the release that immediately succeeds the currently-running # release. # lts - Check to see if a new LTS release is available. The upgrader # will attempt to upgrade to the first LTS release available after # the currently-running one. Note that this option should not be # used if the currently-running release is not itself an LTS # release, since in that case the upgrader won't be able to # determine if a newer release is available. The server was accessing outside through a proxy but I grant direct access to this server to avoid any Internet access problem or redirection but no clue... Any help would be appreciated
