  • Ubuntu says FAT16, windows says NTF?

    I created a partition on USB harddisk in windows and it reports to be an NTFS partition. Yet in ubuntu 9.10 fdisk says it a FAT16 partition. If I mount with -t ntfs I see nothing, but if I mount without it I see all the files. Can anyone tell me whats going on here? Windows computer disk management definately says its NTFS, and a quick look at the raw data suggests it is NTFS, as I know the FAT16 very well.

Cheap programs are also welcome, I paid for a Photoshop license, so why not another software...   • Keep rainmeter from minimizing

Just been playing around with Rainmeter and I notice that if I want to go look at my desktop and I click on the bottom right square in win7 that minimizes to the desktop, the rainmeter "gadget" gets minimized as well, not letting me read what I want to see. Is there something I can configure to make it stay up? Thanks!

  • How do I keep gnome-terminal width from changing when I use "reset"

    When I use reset in gnome-terminal (bash, Ubuntu 9.04), the window width resets, though the height does not. On my personal computer, this does not happen in xterm or konsole. On my work computer (RHEL 5 or maybe 4), this does not happen in any terminals, including gnome-terminal. I assume there is some environment variable that controls this, but my .bashrc at work is hundreds of lines long, so I'm not sure where to look in there.

    I have recently installed windows 8 however i have found that when i try to look through the languages i cannot find the english version so i am now stuck trying to read french until i find out how to do it.     Our web application is getting more and more traffic, which is making our poor pg8.3 database server have a little trouble keeping up. I've had a look into using pgpool II for clustering the db to relieve a little strain, and I was wondering how this should be done to minimise downtime considering I would be clustering a live database.   • How do I fix a gid on files moved to a new server

    Hi, I've copied a folder of data from one linux server to another via a tarball. The group ids (GIDs) don't match up on the two servers, so I now have files that look like -rw-rw-r-- 1 tim 1013 88 2008-11-14 10:18 config There is a mixture of group ownerships in the folder, and I want to keep them owned by different groups on the same server, so I can't just use chgrp -R. How do I change all files/folders with GID 1013 to another group, without affecting other files/folders? Thanks

  • Hebrew filenames in the URL

    We have a CMS that enables users to upload images and flashes to their site. Sometimes the filenames are in Hebrew. In our development server there is no problem, but in our production server we get a 404 error when the filename ends with Hebrew characters. I tried comparing the sites in the IIS, but I'm not sure what to even look for, so I'd be very happy to get pointers as to what might be causing the problem.

  • Technet and trying to install Windows Server 2008 R2

    I'm a bit new to Technet and just trying to work my way round things. Firstly I want to install Windows Server 2008 R2 as I believe this is the latest edition - however when I look to download it from Technet, it will only allow me to download the Windows Automated Installation Kit. Does this have Windows Server 2008 R2 embedded in WAIK or is there some other extra step to do? Or am I just doing this all wrong :)

I started to work on the project for the first time in almost two years and I've noticed, despite using the same font, size and settings the text I create is anti-aliased. I'm using MS Paint 6.0. EDIT: I changed my NVidia Driver Settings to this, but it's not working Update: I managed to fix this by turning of cleartype, however webpages now look worse.

  • Why are .local and .arpa DNS queries showing up outside my network on OpenDNS?

    We have a Windows office network with a local Actice Directory/DNS domain server. The server is set up with OpenDNS's servers as forwarders (see screenshot). However, when I look at my OpenDNS query statistics, I notice that the 3rd most popular query is *.in-addr-arpa, and the 12th is *.local which is from our local domain. Should I, or how can I prevent these local queries from going beyond my local network?

    I just bought a new SSD for my laptop, which is going to be a server running ArchLinux with grub2, GPT and btrfs. My layout should look like this: (grub-partition?) /boot ext2 75MB / btrfs 15GB /home btrfs remaining What do I need to do to create these partitions in a correctly aligned fashion using parted? Do I need to consider alignment when formatting each partition with the desired file system?

    I updated my server from lenny to squeeze and Ispconfig. I got everything back in place except a right problems. if i us "mkdir" with php i get : permission denied. whoami return : "www-data" File owner are like before (for example web54:client4), same for directory Ftp user work fine, create new file and edit file with the same right (web54:client4) I don't understand why it does'nt work in php and I don't have any idea where to look now ? But when trying to reach the site via a mobile device (tried different browsers) it doesn't get to the website.     we got some connections timeouts running a stored procedure in a SQL Server 2008 instance. after a while, the DB started to work as usual, and there weren't any additional timeout errors. So I'm trying to get additional info about the error. Does SQL server 2008 have any kind of error log that I can look into? Do exist any auditing/logging features that I can activate to trace the error (if it happens again)?

    Like the Topic says: Our Exchange Server accidentally forwards sent mails from one User to another User's Inbox. The sent mails are mostly to Outbound Adresses and they where successfully delivered but all those sent Mails are accidentally forwarded into our Info Mail account. There are no Outlook rules defined and the forward routing in exchange is not used, for such things. I really don´t know the cause of the problem and i don´t know where I have to look, because I´m new to exchange...

    I have been using a MacOSX system for a while, but just only recently started poking into the guts. I found a guide telling me to run 'sudo ranlib /usr/local/lib/libjpeg.a'(installing libjpeg). I have read the ranlib manual, and tried looking online on it. I simply don't understand. What resources do I need to look up to learn more, or can someone give a concise explanation on its use?
