I'm using the ASP.NET 3.5 SP1 System.Web.Routing with classic WebForms, as described in http://chriscavanagh.wordpress.com/2008/04/25/systemwebrouting-with-webforms-sample/ All works fine, I have custom SEO urls and even the postback works. But there is a case where the postback always fails and I get a: Validation of viewstate MAC failed. If this application is hosted by a Web Farm or cluster, ensure that configuration specifies the same validationKey and validation algorithm. AutoGenerate cannot be used in a cluster. Here is the scenario to reproduce the error: Create a standard webform mypage.aspx with a button Create a Route that maps "a/b/{id}" to "~/mypage.aspx" When you execute the site, you can navigate http://localhost:XXXX/a/b/something the page works. But when you press the button you get the error. The error doen't happen when the Route is just "a/{id}". It seems to be related to the number of sub-paths in the url. If there are at least 2 sub-paths the viewstate validation fails. You get the error even with EnableViewStateMac="false". Any ideas? Is it a bug? Thanks

• Android Compass orientation on unreliable (Low pass filter)

  Hi all Im creating an application where i need to position a ImageView depending on the Orientation of the device. I use the values from a MagneticField and Accelerometer Sensors to calculate the device orientation with SensorManager.getRotationMatrix(rotationMatrix, null, accelerometerValues, magneticFieldValues) SensorManager.getOrientation(rotationMatrix, values); double degrees = Math.toDegrees(values[0]); My problem is that the positioning of the ImageView is very sensitive to changes in the orientation. Making the imageview constantly jumping around the screen. (because the degrees change) I read that this can be because my device is close to things that can affect the magneticfield readings. But this is not the only reason it seems. I tried downloading some applications and found that the "3D compass" application remains extremely steady in its readings, i would like the same behavior in my application. I read that i can tweak the "noise" of my readings by adding a "Low pass filter", but i have no idea how to implement this (because of my lack of Math). Im hoping someone can help me creating a more steady reading on my device, Where a little movement to the device wont affect the current orientation. Right now i do a small if (Math.abs(lastReadingDegrees - newReadingDegrees) > 1) { updatePosition() } To filter abit of the noise. But its not working very well :)

  I paid somebody to build me a jQuery AJAX suggestion box script a while back. It works great. Now I'm trying to learn about it enough to modify it to do something different. Right now, the script that generates the suggestions just takes the query text and does the same check every time. Now, I want to be able to pass along additional info so different things are looked for with each instance of a search box. • How to pass common arguments to Perl modules

  I'm not thrilled with the argument-passing architecture I'm evolving for the (many) Perl scripts that have been developed for some scripts that call various Hadoop MapReduce jobs. There are currently 8 scripts (of the form run_something.pl) that are run from cron. (And more on the way ... we expect anywhere from 1 to 3 more for every function we add to hadoop.) Each of these have about 6 identical command-line parameters, and a couple command line parameters that are similar, all specified with Euclid. The implementations are in a dozen .pm modules. Some of which are common, and others of which are unique.... Currently I'm passing the args globally to each module ... Inside run_something.pl I have: set_common_args (%ARGV); set_something_args (%ARGV); And inside Something.pm I have sub set_something_args { (%MYARGS) =@_; } So then I can do if ( $MYARGS{'--needs_more_beer'} ) { $beer++; } I'm seeing that I'm probably going to have additional "common" files that I'll want to pass args to, so I'll have three or four set_xxx_args calls at the top of each run_something.pl, and it just doesn't seem too elegant. On the other hand, it beats passing the whole stupid argument array down the call chain, and choosing and passing individual elements down the call chain is (a) too much work (b) error-prone (c) doesn't buy much. In lots of ways what I'm doing is just object-oriented design without the object-oriented language trappings, and it looks uglier without said trappings, but nonetheless ... Anyone have thoughts or ideas?

The problem is that I want to to select the function I want that is in a class rather than just a function by itself. The code I have tried is the same except that function(var): is in a class.   I have a ParameterView and ParameterViewModel, and I need the ParameterViewModel to have a reference to the Parameter view (more on that later). In the window I have a list of ParameterViewModels and in the ResourceDictionary I add the DataTemplate: <DataTemplate DataType="{x:Type my:ParameterViewModel}" > <my:ParameterView HorizontalAlignment="Left"/> </DataTemplate> I then bind an ItemsControl.ItemSource to the List of ParameterViewModels The problem is: How can I pass the ParameterView to the ParameterViewModel in this scenario? The reason I need the ParameterView in the ParameterViewModel is the following: I have a TextBox whose Text property is binded to the PropertyModelView.Name property. But I want to display a default string when the Name is empty or Null. I've tried to set the property value to the default string I want when that happens but the TextBox.Text is not set in this scenario. I do something like this: private string _name; public string Name { get { return _name; } set { if (value == null || value.Length == 0) Name = _defaultName; else _name = value; } } I've also tried to specifically set the TextBox.Text binding mode to TwoWay without success. I think this is a defense mechanism to prevent an infinite loop from happening but I don't know for sure. Any help on this front would also be highly appreciated. Thanks, José Tavares

  How do I pass an EF expression as a method argument? To illustrate my question I have created a pseudo code example: The first example is my method today. The example utilizes EF and a Fancy Retry Logic. What I need to do is to encapsulate the Fancy Retry Logic so that it becomes more generic and does not duplicate. In the second example is how I want it to be, with a helper method that accepts the EF expression as an argument. This would be a trivial thing to do with SQL, but I want to do it with EF so that I can benefit from the strongly typed objects. • Pass a variable from the source file to an included file in PHP

  For my website I want to store the general format of the site in a single PHP file in a single location, and each of the different pages content in the local location of the page. I then want to pass the title and content address to the included file via a variable. However I can't get the included format file to read the variables storing the title and content data. AKA, the called file for the individual page would be: <?php $title = 'Some Title'; $source_file = 'content.php'; readfile('http:...../format.php'); ?> The format file would be: <html> ... <title> <?php echo $title; ?> </title> ... <?php include($source_file); ?> ... I recall reading somewhere I need to include something to get the variables at the start of the format file, however I can't remember what it is or find where I found that information.
