  • Loading PNG textures to OpenGL

    - by Tamir
Hello, I'm working on a game, and all of my graphics use magenta as transparent/magic color. They are all 32-bit and the magenta is just for conveniency. Anyway, I would appreciate if someone could advice me what library should I use to load my images (I need to load them in GL_RGBA format, both internal and texture specific).

  • ASP.NET MVC Routing Via Method Attributes

    - by TorgoGuy
In the StackOverflow Podcast #54, Jeff mentions they register their URL routes in the StackOverflow codebase via an attribute above the method that handles the route. Sounds like a good concept (with the caveat that Phil Haack brought up regarding route priorities). Could someone provide some sample to to make this happen? Also, any "best practices" for using this style of routing?

Has anyone else had this problem? Does any one know the steps to fix? Thanks!

  • Salt, passwords and security

    - by Jonathan
I've read through many of the questions on SO about this, but many answers contradict each other or I don't understand. You should always store a password as a hash, never as plain text. But should you store the salt (unique for each user) next to the hashed password+salt in the database. This doesn't seem very clever to me as couldn't someone gain access to the database, look for says the account called Admin or whatever and then work out the password from that?

  • Why are IOC containers unnecessary with dynamic languages

    - by mikemay
Someone on the Herding Code podcast No. 68, http://herdingcode.com/?p=231, stated that IOC containers had no place with Python or Javascript, or words to that effect. I'm assuming this is conventional wisdom and that it applies to all dynamic languages. Why? What is it about dynamic languages that makes IOC containers unnecessary?

    - by Binaromong
    So I want to write a servlet which uploads a video to a youtube channel using the Java API, but I can't seem to find a way of specifying that I want to go through a proxy server. I've seen an example on this site where someone managed to do this using C#, but the Classes they used don't seem to exist in the Java API. Has anybody managed to successfully do this? YouTubeService service = new YouTubeService(clientID, developerKey);

  • Is it really necessary to have a competely validated Mark Up and css for SEO purposes

    - by Hitesh Manchanda
Hi , While validating my CSS on http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/ I am getting following errors: 1.Property zoom doesn't exist : 1 1. 2.Property -webkit-transition doesn't exist : all 200ms ease-in all 200ms ease-in 3.Property opacity doesn't exist in CSS level 2.1 4.Property -moz-border-radius doesn't exist 5.Property -webkit-border-radius doesn't exist Is it really required to validate the MarkUp and CSS completely for SEO or these errors which mostly are browser specific can be ignored for now. If these errors have to removed can someone please suggest the way to do so also.

  • What's the meaning of “Monty Python’s Flying Circus” phrase on Python?

    - by Zignd
I just started studying Python using the Python 3.2 Tutorial and on the introduction is written: By the way, the language is named after the BBC show “Monty Python’s Flying Circus” and has nothing to do with reptiles. Making references to Monty Python skits in documentation is not only allowed, it is encouraged! But I have to say that I did not understood this part: “Monty Python’s Flying Circus”, I'm Brazilian and even Google Translator don't know how to answer it. Can someone explain me this phrase?
