• scrolling a readonly cell in NSTableview?

  I have a table that the user should not be able to edit directly (although user actions may cause changes). One column may contain a string too long for any reasonable size cell, so to see everything there, the user needs to scroll the cell (using arrow keys, for example). If I make either the column or cell not editible, I loose the ability to scroll the cell. If I make it editable, of course, I loose the ability to keep the user from changeing it. (I'm using NSArray controller and a couple of NSObject controllers to get from the model to the table view using bindings. Binding compliance via @property(copy) and @synthesize. • Doctrine 1.2 Column Naming Conventions for Many To Many Relationships

  I'm working with an existing database schema, and trying to setup two Doctrine models with a Many to Many relationship, as described in this document When creating tables from scratch, I have no trouble getting this working. However, the existing join tables use a different naming convention that what's described in the Doctrine document. Specifically Table 1 -------------------------------------------------- table_1_id ....other columns.... Table 2 -------------------------------------------------- table_2_id ....other columns.... Join Table -------------------------------------------------- fktable1_id fktable_2_id Basically, the previous developers prefaced all forign keys with an fk. From the examples I've seen and some brief experimenting with code, it appears that Doctrine 1.2 requires that the join table use the same column names as the tables it's joining in Is my assumption correct? If so, has the situation changed in Doctrine 2? If the answers to either of the above are true, how do you configure the models so that all the columns "line up"

  To pop up the UAC dialog in Vista when writing to the HKLM registry hive, we opt to not use the Win32 Registry API, as when Vista permissions are lacking, we'd need to relaunch our entire application with administrator rights. Instead, we do this trick: ShellExecute(hWnd, "runas" /* display UAC prompt on Vista */, windir + "\\Reg", "add HKLM\\Software\\Company\\KeyName /v valueName /t REG_MULTI_TZ /d ValueData", NULL, SW_HIDE); This solution works fine, besides that our application is a 32-bit one, and it runs the REG.EXE command as it would be a 32-bit app using the WOW compatibility layer! :( If REG.EXE is ran from the command line, it's properly ran in 64-bit mode. This matters, because if it's ran as a 32-bit app, the registry keys will end up in the wrong place due to registry reflection. So is there any way to launch a 64-bit app programmatically from a 32-bit app and not have it run using the WOW64 subsystem like its parent 32-bit process (i.e. a "*" suffix in the Task Manager)?

  What's the best way to automate this function? I want to be able to do this in Outlook 2010, (1)select a specific mail account (2)Key in a folder that I am looking for (3)Then have the macro/program fire off an "*" asterisk (4)Then insert the text that I keyed in step one. I am trying to automate the search for a folder hot-keys that already exist. My problem is that I can't type the folder that I am looking for fast enough and all the search programs that I have used are far too slow. The hot-key search is awesome and super fast, I just can't type the folder that I am looking for fast enough. Can this process be automated? • Visual Studio Error: An item with the same key has already been added

  When I'm trying to change the default Image of a Control on Windows Forms in Form Designer (no matter where on which control) I get this error: Error message: An item with the same key has already been added I tried to delete and recreate the Resources.resx file.. I assured that only 1 resx file with these keys exist.. (in fact that's my only resource file) but it still does not work. I have som strings in it and some images. That's all. Any idea?

  I'm creating a windows forms application with NHibernate. It's an MDI application, so there is no limit to how many forms the user can have open at the same time (probably many). For most forms I want to have an "OK" and a "Cancel" button. Both close the form, but "OK" also saves the modified data to the DB. The forms can be pretty complex, and the modifications are likely to touch a whole graph of objects, adding some, deleting some, and changing some more. It would be good if the changes could be automatically detected and persisted as needed, without the need to manually keep track of each of them. What would be a good way to do this? Extra information: I can make whatever DB schema I want. I'm using MSSQL 2008 and currently have decided for GUID primary keys (with guid.comb generator) and a TIMESTAMP column for optimistic concurrency. I tried to simply set FlushMode of a NHibernate ISession to Never, doing all modifications as needed, and then calling Flush() if the user clicked OK. But that didn't work.

  Hypothetical: Let's say you are writing complex queries to a database and it is very important that the data you extracted is the correct result set (e.g., that you didn't mess up a JOIN by not using all the correct keys, and all the other things that can go wrong, et cetera). What would you rather use to do this? Would you write the query using Microsoft Access and its Design View, or would you write it in native SQL using a SQL IDE?   Let's say you have two kinds, Message and Contact, related by a db.ListProperty of keys on Message. A user creates a message, adds some contacts as recipients, and emails the message. Later, the user deletes one of the contact entities that was a recipient of the message. Our application should delete the appropriate Contact entity, but we want to preserve the original recipient list for the message that was sent for the user's records. In essence, we want a snapshot of the message entity at the time it was sent. If we naively delete the contact entity, though, we lose snapshot integrity; if not, we are left with an invalid key.   Hi, I' m implementing a custom STL map. I need to make sure that any data type (basic or user defined) key will work with it. I declared the Map class as a template which has two parameters for the key and the value. My question is if I need to use a string as the key type, how can I overload the < and operators for string type keys only?? In template specialization we have to specialize the whole class with the type we need as I understand it. Is there any way I can do this in a better way?? What if I add a separate Key class and use it as the template type for Key? Thank You!!

• Do I need to change the package name for the free version of my app?

  I have an application that I'm going to publish to the Android market. I'm planning on releasing a paid-for version and a free version with restricted feature set. During development I've ensured I can turn features on and off by setting a few constant values, so I only have one codebase. However, now I come to release I'm not clear if I need to make a copy of the app with a different package name for the free version. The documentation on how the market works say updates will only be recognised if they have the same package name and are signed with the same key. Does this mean it's OK to release two applications with the same package name but signed with different keys, or will this break something? Or is it just bad practice?

The keys (key names) can be disregarded: [24, 23, 33, 12, 31] The order of the values is NOT important! One solution (obviously) would be do have a function that takes the values and puts them into an array: var arr = valuesToArray(obj); I will accept such a function as the answer. However, I would be more pleased if there would be an API function (ECMAScript, jQuery, browser-specific, ...) that could do this. Is there such a thing?

• PHP: How to overwrite values in one array with values from another

  I have an array with default settings, and one array with user-specified settings. I want to merge these two arrays so that the default settings gets overwritten with the user-specified ones. I have tried to use array_merge, which does the overwriting like I want, but it also adds new settings if the user has specified settings that doesn't exist in the default ones. Is there a better function I can use for this than array_merge? Or is there a function I can use to filter the user-specified array so that it only contains keys that also exist in the default settings array? (PHP version 5.3.0)

  Hi I am using an NSSortdescriptor to sort a collection of NSArrays, I then came across a case where the particular NSArray to be sorted contains an NSDictionary who contains an NSDictionary. I would like to sort from the string paired with a key in the last dictionary.   I enjoy all the python libraries for scraping websites and I am experimenting with BeautifulSoup and IMDB just for fun. As I come from Java, I have some Java-practices incorporated into my programming styles. I am trying to get the info of a certain movie, I can either create a Movie class or just use a dictionary with keys for the attributes. My question is, should I just use dictionaries when a class will only contain data and perhaps almost no behaviour? In other languages creating a type will help you enforce certain restrictions and because of type checks the IDE will help you program, this is not always the case in python, so what should I do? Should I resort to creating a class only when there's both, behaviour and data? Or create a movie class even though it'll probably be just a data container? This all depends on your model, in this particular case either one is fine but I'm wondering about what's a good practice.

  I am populating a "Dictionary" with the results of an sp call. The key is the field name and the value is whatever value the sp returns for the field. This is all well and good but I'd like developers to have a predefined list of keys to access this list, for safety and documentation reasons. What I'd like to do is have something like an enum as a key for the dictionary so developers can safely access the list, but still have the ability to access the dictionary with a string key value. I am hoping to have a list of string values that I can access with an enum key AND a string key. Please make sure any suggestions are simple to implement, this is not the kind of thing I'm willing to build a lot of overhead to implement.

• CakePHP: How can I disable auto-increment on Model.id?

  CakePHP 1.3.0, mysqli I have a model, Manifest, whose ID should be the unique number from a printed form. However, with Manifest.id set as the primary key, CakePHP is helping me by setting up auto-increment on the field. Is there a way to flag the field via schema.php and/or elsewhere to disable auto-increment? I need just a plain, old primary key without it. The only other solution I can imagine is adding on a separate manifest number field and changing foreign keys in a half dozen other tables. A bit wasteful and not as intuitive.

• Django Inline Admin elements do not allow editing

  Hiya, In the Django admin I'd like the ability to edit my models referenced by foreign keys In-Line. I've read all the instructions, added a TabularInline object and my models are displayed there. All looks great, however, I only have the option to add new models and not an option to edit existing. Is there something I've been missing? All the documentation suggests the In-Line models are there to allow you to edit referenced models In-Line, however - all I can see is Add. Any help would be much appreciated!

  I've got a variable list of associative arrays that I want to iterate through and retrieve their key/value pairs. I iterate through a single associative array by listing all its keys and getting the values, ie. for key in "${!queue1[@]}" do echo "key : $key" echo "value : ${queue1[$key]}" done The tricky part is that the names of the associative arrays are variable variables, e.g. given count = 5, the associative arrays would be named queue1, queue2, queue3, queue4, queue5. I'm trying to replace the sequence above based on a count, but so far every combination of parentheses and eval has not yielded much more then bad substitution errors. e.g below: for count in {1,2,3,4,5} do for key in "${!queue${count}[@]}" do echo "key : $key" echo "value : ${queue${count}[$key]}" done done Help would be very much appreciated!
