I've got two ms access .mdb files that I need to compare/merge. Any good tools out there for this? Any way to easily export both to ascii sql where I can use something like Beyond Compare?
I'm using FreeMarker to generate java code, but as most of it is dynamically generated it's difficult to control the code formation.
I want to get code well formatted. Does anyone knows a lib or something like a pretty printer for java code?
So I am writing a Java code to represent a heap sort and to represent the operation I need to have a waiting function which will wait between different operation but I am not sure if there is a function in Java that does that or do I need to write the function by myself and how would i do that.
Representing heap sport is a homework but writing the waiting function isn't so I appreciate your help
I am trying to compare a series of strings like the following
rodeo rodas
carrot crate
GLX GLX 1.1
GLX glxs
the comparision need not be case sensitive
i am trying to write a sql where i am updating the first string with the second string if they match approximately. Here except the second string all the other examples match. I would like to write a query which updates the strings except the second one.
is this possible directly in a query in ACCESS
thanks
What is the easiest way to have an application launch at startup on Ubuntu server as daemon? This is a java application (java com.run.run.Run) etc.
How would I have it launch as a user and possibly have access to write to some log file where the user has permissions to write?
And if I don't end up doing that, how would I launch the application as the root user at startup.
Edited: It is a headless server, I don't have access to the desktop applications.
C# properties (I mean get and set methods) are a very useful feature. does java have something similar to C# properties too. I mean how we can implement something like the following C# code in java:
public string Name
{
get
{
return name;
}
set
{
name = value;
}
}
thank you in advance
Hi All,
I am a C# programmer. I want to learn Java to implement my windows application. But I don't know what IDE and what tools can help me.
Please help me to choose best platform and IDE and other tools.
Edit:
Thank You For Your Helping. And What is Best Ebooks and UserGuids to Learn java.
I need a media information extraction library (pure Java or JNI wrapper) that can handle common media formats. I primarily use it for video files and I need at least these information:
Video length (Runtime)
Video bitrate
Video framerate
Video format and codec
Video size (width X height)
Audio channels
Audio format
Audio bitrate and sampling rate
There are several libraries and tools around but I couldn't find for Java.
Can anyone recommend a light Java IDE that doesn't require you to make new projects each time you want to compile and run a program? I just want to be able to open java files and compile and run them. I have already tried Eclipse and NetBeans but both require you to make a new project each time you want to compile and run a program. Making a new project is fine for large scale projects but for small school assignments this just makes the process more tedious.
Thanks
If I have a simple java program that processes lines of text from standard input, then I can run it with the following script:
@Echo off
java Test < file.txt
pause
exit
The script redirects lines of input from a separate file.
Is there a way that I can avoid having to use an extra file? Or is this the easiest way?
Thanks.
Started to learn LINQ with C#.
Especially LINQ to Objects and LINQ to XML.
I really enjoy the power of LINQ.
I learned that there is something called JLINQ a Jscript implementation.
Also (as Catbert posted) Scala will have LINQ
Do you know if LINQ or something similar will be a part of Java 7?
Update: Interesting post from 2008 - http://stackoverflow.com/questions/346721/linq-for-java
The url: http://www.teamliquid.net/replay/download.php?replay=1830 is a download link to a .rep file.
My question is: how to download this content in java knowing the name of the original rep file in order to save it with a defined prefix, like path/_.rep
//I was trying to run wget from java but I don't see how to get the original file's name.
I want to access the files encircled in this screenshot.
What path should I use?
This is for my JavaME application. file:///ParseExample/service1.xml doesn't seem to be the right one.

I'm creating a HR database in access 2007
I have a main table of employee info and several tables that relate to that table ( education for example) that list the acceptable elements that can populate that cell in that row
When i create a form it was created as just a plain text field which is constrained but I wanted to create a dropdown that had just the data that they are allowed to enter to avoid confusion.
Unfortunately, Java has no syntax for multi-line string literals. No problem if the IDE makes it easy to work with constructs like
String x = "CREATE TABLE TEST ( \n"
+ "A INTEGER NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY, \n"
...
What is the fastest way to paste a multi-line String from the clipboard into Java source using Eclipse (in a way that it automagically creates code like the above).
Where can I get an opensource library written in java, especially for imap protocol.
For Example:
there is imaplib in python
likewise is there anything else in
java to replace that "imaplib"
i have a java program executing 3 separate sqls with a same inline view - it takes about 20 minutes each time to build the inline view when the sqls are executed - is there a way to cache or reuse it ? - trying to avoid temporary table solution because it needs to be delegated to a plsql since the java program does not have rights to create schema objects.

Hello there
I'm facing problem with getting start with the Open Social API in java. I already google and bing it but still didn't found a sample to POC the usage of API for console or desktop based application. Can anybody suggest any link, forum or if possible explain the tedious flow of working of this API.
You can try this link to try this API http://code.google.com/p/opensocial-java-client/
Thank You
What is the syntax for an Update query for a table without a primary key?
Disclaimer: Frustratingly, adding a primary key is not an option. My program is a small program in a much larger system with poor data management. My development time does not include rewriting the other software.
Note: The database is Microsoft Access.
We are about to roll out a client server application build with java web start. Our main server is located in a country in Europe and we will have many users downloading our client the first day from all over the world. Since the client application is quite big in MB our wan will be utilized a lot. Is there a way to cache or pre- distribute java web start clients to servers "closer" to the user (for example a local server)?
Thanks.
The database has data in UTC and when I try to get data
java.util.Calendar cal = Calendar.getInstance();
cal.setTimeZone(TimeZone.getTimeZone("UTC"));
java.sql.Timestamp ts = resultSet.getTimestamp(PUBLISH_TIME);
cal.setTime(ts);
Is there anything wrong with this?
arraylist.add(new ListItem("Activity1", "ActivityName1"));
suppose ActivityName1 value store in properties file to provide locale feature.
now how can i access the value of Activity1 key that associate to ActivityName1 value on jsp ( ActivityName1 corresponds to a properties file value) by using Struts.
i want to find the ActivityName1 value that store in properties file by using the Activity1 key in Struts framework.
