Need to set up a proxy on Linksys E3200 to filter home internet

the fact that I have a Linksys E3200 may not be important. I can configure the router through the web interface, but I don't know the things I will be toggling are called. I already do simple port forwarding to access applications on my Mac remotely. So router admin is not something I technically need explained. I'm looking to running a proxy on my home computer, that filters all HTTP traffic that goes through my router. So if my daughter is on her iPad and accesses Safari, my Mac will be the judge of the validity of the request. I need something like NetNanny I guess, but local. Actually, anything that can just filter all port 80 traffic that runs locally, but maybe validates with a password? I truly truly hope this question falls within the bounds of Serverfault. I'm not a total internet newb but I'm at a loss for what to Google. If possible answer this question: Is there a webapp that can listen on port 80, and validate requests to port 80 with a password? If so, can I forward all traffic on port 80 to my Mac, to be re-routed to the user? Is this the same as a VPN? Thank you for your help. Justin

cannot get mssql working with sql server 2005

I'm a MySQL/Apache user, trying my hand with IIS and SQL server, so please, if this is a stupid question have patience. I'm using IIS version 7.5. PHP version 5.3.13 and SQL server 2005 IIS is running on port 90, not sure if that will make a difference or not. I know my sql server is running because I can explore/connect to it in Server management studio. I know php is configured properly, because //localhost:90/phpinfo.php works fine. I updated the php_msql.dll extension in phpinfo to: extension=ext/php_msql.dll EDIT- However, when I run phpinfo() under the "configure command" row, this is present: --without-mssql I found/downloaded the ntwdblib.dll and placed it in both sys32 and php root. All these things were supposed to fix the issue, and they haven't. How to avoid duplicates when copying files that have been renamed at the destination

I have to get pictures from a folder – with subfolders which are updated automatically – with their extensions. These files have to be copied in a folder where a website based on PHP will edit them (by renaming and creating an XML file) to be downloadable and integrated in an XML feed. Because of the rename function of the script, when I perform the copy gain, all the files are duplicated, because the script has renamed the original ones already. Troubleshoot port forwarding. Could it be ISP blocking incoming connections?

Had a new Axis IP camera delivered yesterday. Plugged into Cisco E2400 Wireless Router but having problems. Example topology: WAN IP: 10.10.10.10 (example) Cisco Router: 192.168.1.1 Axis Camera: 192.168.1.10:80 Port forwarding rules set up on router External Port: 999 Internal Port: 80 Protocol: TCP & UDP Device IP: 192.168.1.10:80 Enabled: True Trying to connect from within the lan to 192.168.1.1:80 from within browser - Works properly. Trying to connect from within the lan to 10:10:10:10:999 from within browser - Works properly. Trying to connect from outside the LAN (e.g. via 3g or another isp) to 10:10:10:10:999 from within browser - Doesnt work. I get the following errors from different machines / browsers: Safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding (IOS) The server at xx.xx.xx.xx is taking too long to respond. (firefox) This problem is not just for the Axis camera. I am also having similar problems connecting to my NAS drive. After using a web based port scanning tool, it appears as though port 999 is closed. Not certain why when I have set up port forwarding within the router. Any troubleshooting suggestions to help me determine whether the problem is with my Cisco settings / firewall or whether it could be my ISP blocking incoming connection requests? Many thanks

PHP 5.3.5 Windows installer missing php_ldap.dll

I'm working with Windows Server 2008, Apache 2.2. I'm using php-5.3.5-Win32-VC6-x86.msi as the installer, using the threadsafe version. I've gone through the install process four or five times just to make sure that I'm not missing anything ridiculous, but I don't think I am. The problem is that the php_ldap.dll extension simply doesn't seem to exist. It's not present in the installer interface (where the user is asked to choose which extensions to install), and it definitely doesn't appear in the ext/ directory after install. I found a lot of mentions of this issue for 5.3.3, including links to download the extension individually. Those links no longer exist, of course, and besides: they were for 5.3.3. I'd really rather use an extension that belongs with PHP 5.3.5. Anyone else encounter this problem? Any ideas as to what's going wrong? Anyone seen acknowledgement by the PHP folks that the file is indeed missing, and that it's an oversight? It's quite a frustration because the server I'm building has no purpose if I don't have PHP LDAP support. Cheers all, and thanks in advance for your assistance.

Configuring iPad Mail app & Gmail app with different accounts? [migrated]

I prefer to use the Gmail app over the standard Mail app on my iPad for reading my personal Gmail (I delete a lot of mails, newsletters, etc., after reading and this is one tap in Gmail and several in Mail). I have them set up so my personal Gmail uses the Gmail app and my work email is set up to use the standard Mail app. This all works fine except for one problem. If I'm in Gmail or Mail and send an email it sends from the relevant email address as expected. My problem is that when I share something via email from Safari or another app it sends from the email address configured in Settings for Mail (the work one) and I would prefer to do such sharing from my personal email address. Does anyone know if there is a way to achieve this? I could switch the addresses to use the other app but as I never delete work email and delete personal mail at least 50% of the time, the behaviour of the apps is perfect the way I have them set up; if only I could solve that one little problem of controlling where shared items are sent from. I am using an iPad 2 with iOS 5.1 should that be relevant.

Running Windows 7 physical disk virtualized under Linux

I have an existing Windows 7 installation that I'd like to virtualize under Linux. Windows boots fine on Disk A, Linux boots fine on Disk B. (Both disks are SATA.) I can mount the Windows disk when in Linux. I've tried VirtualBox and VMWare Player and neither will allow me to boot from the other disk. VirtualBox doesn't seem to have the option to do so. VMWare Player has the option to have an IDE drive exposed to the virtual environment as a SCSI disk. I've tried that, but it throws the error "Cannot connect virtual device ide1:0 because no corresponding device is available on the host." I've verified that it's pointing to the correct hard drive. I'm willing to try other virtualization products, and I'm not averse to spending a little money to get this to work. I've seen this other question, and it's not a duplicate, as I haven't gotten that far yet. I'm also interested in solutions going the other way (Linux on Windows), but that'd be lagniappe. Gory Hardware Details: Lenovo T410, 2.4 GHz Core i5 (has virtualization extensions), 4GiB RAM, 2x 320 GiB SATA HDD, one in optical bay. Fedora 14 2.6.35.10-74.fc14.x86_64, Windows 7 32-bit.

Routing connections through VPN based on hostname (not IP range)

This bugs me immensly. I need to connect to client's network through VPN. But I definitely do not want to send all the traffic through client's network so this option is out of question. What I need basically is for the OS to know that all client's network subdomains (*.example.com) need to go through the VPN connection. I tried a couple of options: Changing order of services and setting the VPN on top, but this works the same as "Send all traffic over VPN connection". Using "VPN on Demand" option from network advanced options, but this feature is quite rubbish to be honest. Seems to work only in Safari (?!) and it doesn't route the connection, but it basically triggers the OS to connect to the selected VPN. The reason I need it to work based on hostnames rather than IP range is simple - my client has a lot of servers inside his network and it's impossible for me to remember all IPs. They are all within a range, but this doesn't help me remembering. Another option would be to put the VPN connection on the bottom of network services and untick "Send all traffic..." and then put all known hostnames in hosts file, but considering there could be hundreds of servers (therefore hostnames and ips too) it ridiculous job. And if new server appears on the network I'd need to edit the hosts file again. Sisyphean labours. However this works on Windows very simply. If a hostname is not available through default network interface, then it seems to try VPN connection and this works brilliantly. So, how can I achieve that on Mac, then? I know client's internal DNS addresses if that is of any help (like directing a certain domains through a different DNS)? PS. Using latest version 10.6.6. PS2. I am using VPN to access intranet, version control servers (svn://), samba shares and for SSH access to servers.

please take a look at my server's ram usage

Hi, i am a noob with servers. I have a centos5.5 vps with 512mb ram. My goal is to have it host just one magento store. I've installed Magento on the server without any control panel, by just installing lamp myself and whatever php extensions were necessary to get Magento to install. As soon as i visit my magento store, suddenly the ram on the vps is almost completely used, with only about 100mb left. Please see this screenshot of htop taken after just myself visited the website. http://img714.imageshack.us/img714/1944/screenouv.png As you can see there's only around 100mb left. Is that normal? I'm wondering if i might have done something stupid with the server that makes it very resource hungry. I installed apache from the centos base repo, php version 5.3 from the ius repository and mysql 5.1 also from ius repo. I haven't changed any of the default config files for any of these except to make memory_minimum 256 in php.ini. Is there anything i can do to make more ram free? I'm clueless but i see each Apache daemon is using 8% of available ram, and AFAIK each visitor needs one Apache daemon. So i would run out of ram with just a handful of visitors. Make call with alternate provider if NOANSWER

I have two voip providers, one free an the other paid. The free provider only allows local calls to certain area codes, so I need to fall back to the the paid provider if a call fails. What I want is to: Try calling the ${PRIMARY_PROVIDER} first. If NOANSWER is returned by provider (not that the callee did not answer), then call with ${SECONDARY_PROVIDER} How can I modify my dial plan to get the desired results? EDIT : The primary provider is freephoneline.ca, and I'm using asterisk v1.8.2.3-2

Very high Magento/Apache memory usage even without visitors (are we fooled by our hosting company?)

I am no server guy and we have issues with our speed so I come here asking for advise. We have a VPS with 2 cores and 2gb of RAM at a Magento specialized hosting company. Over the course of the last weeks our site speed has gotten worse, even though our store is new, has less than 1000 SKUs and not even 100 visitos a day. At magespeedtest.com we only get 1.87 trans/sec @ 2.11 secs each with a mere 5 concurrent users. Our magento log files are clean, we have no huge database tables or anything like that. When we take a look at our server real time stats, we see that the memory usage jumped up from about 34% to 71% and now 82% in just a few days in idle, with no visitors on the site. Our hosting company said that we do not need to worry about that as it`s maybe related to mysql which creates buffers (which are maybe not even actually being used) and what is important is CPU and swap - stats are ok here. They also said that the low benchmark scores are caused by bad extensions or template modifications on our side. We are not sure if we can trust that statement as we only have 4 plugins installed (all from aheadworks and amasty which are known to be one of the best magento extension developers). Our template modifications are purely html and css, no modifications to the php code. Our pagespeed is ranked with 93/100 in firebug and Magento is properly configured, so the problem really just gets obvious when there are a handful of users on the site at the same time. Can anyone confirm our hosting`s statement about memory usage and where can I start looking for a solution?

oracle access on vmware fusion

Hello, I'm running snow leopard and I'm doing some development that requires some network knowledge. I've installed vmware fusion 3.0 and I've set up a virtual machine with windows 2003 server. I need to mimic the exact configuration of another server in the network, so I really need to run the versions I'll be mentioning here. Besides, I set up two network configurations on the VM: one NAT config (so that I can have internet access) and one host-only config (because I need to use another server's mac adress and my local area network might have a problem with it) From the installation of windows 2003, I then installed oracle 10.2.0.1. During the installation I received a warning about the primary ip-address of the system being dhcp assigned, but I ignored it (maybe it was a mistake)... Now, from experience, unless the DHCP assigned address changes, I should be able to access the guest system's database from the host system, so I went to safari and tried to access the oracle em. As it turns out, because my computer is on a company network, the company's DNS doesn't know about the virtual machine, unless of course I switch to a bridged network config. However, I don't want to do that because I don't to mix up the domains. So I guess the question is, how can I define my own dns or router, or whatever it is that I need to define so that whenever I try the guest system's ip address form the host, it will use the vmnet1 or vmnet8 interface define by vmware and bypass the dns configuration of my local area network. I'd also like to know what to do incase I want to change ip addresses on the guest machine without having oracle go haywire (I've noticed a few folders on the structure which are specific for the very first IP Address)... Is Google tracking our web history even when we do not visit Google or if affiliate websites?

I have recently updated to Google Chrome 29.0.1547.76. And when I click a the new tab button there is a new homepage now. Ok. My current settings forbid from third party cookies being set. And I clear all of my browsing data every time I close or well if its been too long browsing. Ok so there is this help dialog that appears first time you open the new tab page. What I did was Cleared all my browsing settings (From Beginning of time) and then again I went to the new tab, the Help dialog appears. And for the third time I did the same and the Same thing Happened. So For the fourth time I cleared all my Browsing data. Clicked open new tab and then. navigate myself to chrome://settings/cookies. and there were So does this mean google is tracking our web History just for using Chrome. I know Its not Illegal because these cookies only appear when you click the new tab Google Chrome 29.0.1547.76. maybe that was the reason google redesigned the entire New:tab page. From this Google is forcing us to allow them track us. I don't want to set another page as my new:tab page. I just want the old one. Google has a long History of invading Privacy without users consent. There was that Safari incident. I am sure you people remember. So can anyone tell me about this issue? I maybe wrong. So please explain.

SOLVED: deploying applications that use LINQ to Entities.

I want to use L2E since it s very convenient to my company's apps, I created a demo project, the demo does run on every machine but when I, lets say, press a button that has some code that uses the entity I get this error: specified store provider cannot be found in the configuration, or is not valid. note that I get this error only on machines that does not have VS2008 installed, on these machines (the ones with VS2008) the demo works well. any advice is appreciated. I want to use L2E since it s very convenient to my company's apps, I created a demo project, the demo does run on every machine but when I, lets say, press a button that has some code that uses the entity I get this error: specified store provider cannot be found in the configuration, or is not valid. note that I get this error only on machines that does not have VS2008 installed, on these machines (the ones with VS2008) the demo works well. any advice is appreciated. I am using MySql server with Mysql Conector 6.3 and the model is created with ADO.Net entitiy model. Unable to get HTTPS MEX endpoint to work

I have been trying to configure WCF to work with Azure ACS. This WCF configuration has 2 bugs: It does not publish MEX end point. It does not invoke custom behaviour extension. There is more code involved for checking token validation, but in my opinion at least MEX should get published and CreateBehavior() should get invoked in order for me to proceed further.

Maven does not resolve a local Grails plug-in

My goal is to take a Grails web application and build it into a Web ARchive (WAR file) using Maven, and the key is that it must populate the "plugins" folder without live access to the internet. An "out of the box" Grails webapp will already have the plugins folder populated with JAR files, but the maven build script should take care of populating it, just like it does for any traditional WAR projects (such as WEB-INF/lib/ if it's empty) This is an error when executing mvn grails:run-app with Grails 1.1 using Maven 2.0.10 and org.grails:grails-maven-plugin:1.0. (This "hibernate-1.1" plugin is needed to do GORM.) [INFO] [grails:run-app] Running pre-compiled script Environment set to development Plugin [hibernate-1.1] not installed, resolving.. The build machine does not have access to the internet and must use an internal/enterprise repository, so this error is just saying that maven can't find the required artifact anywhere. That dependency is already included with the stock Grails software that's installed locally, so I just need to figure out how to get my POM file to unpackage that ZIP file into my webapp's "plugins" folder. I've tried installing the plugin manually to my local repository and making it an explicit dependency in POM.xml, but it's still not being recognized. Maybe you can't pull down grails plugins like you would a standard maven reference? mvn install:install-file -DgroupId=org.grails -DartifactId=grails-hibernate -Dversion=1.1 -Dpackaging=zip -Dfile=%GRAILS_HOME%/plugins/grails-hibernate-1.1.zip I can manually setup the Grails webapp from the command-line, which creates that local ./plugins folder properly. Problem with jquery ajax form on Codeigniter

Everytime I test the email is send correctly. (I have tested in PC: IE6, IE7, IE8, Safari, Firefox, Chrome. MAC: Safari, Firefox, Chrome.) The _POST done in jquery (javascript). Then when I turn off javascript in my browser nothing happens, because nothing is _POSTed. JavaScript functions broke my page jumps?

Hi everybody, I'm trying to develop a personal website and running into some issues. At the top of my page I had a horizontal table that contained 6 different images (buttons) that linked to different sections of the page. I wanted to spice up the buttons with JavaScript and make the image of the button change onMouseOver and onMouseOut so I found a way to do so online with some JavaScript but the problem now is that the buttons no longer jump to the appropriate section of the page when using Google Chrome or Safari, but in IE 9 they still do work correctly... Once again, the weirder thing is that this is only the case when I'm using Google Chrome on my laptop running Windows 7 or Safari using my iPhone 4 but when I use the new Internet Explorer 9 on my laptop running Windows 7 all the buttons still link correctly. Any idea what's breaking the links?

Weird vps server issue

I have an unmanaged linux vps Ubuntu 11.10 (Oneiric Ocelot). I have LNMP installed. Also php-fpm php-apc, varnish, memcache. I have (or rather had) several live sites on it. under normal load the server uses ~700 mb memory. But since last night its using only 20mb~ memory and a lot of the services seems to be down (according to htop) I only see nginx working and mysql starts up and goes does every few minutes on a loop.
