• Browser connects to WCF service but not my WCF client. What can be the reason?

  On a production server (Windows Server 2003 SP2) I can connect to a remote WCF service with Internet Explorer 8: When I browse to the URL http://www.domain.com/Service.svc (where my service listens) I get the expected info page of the service displayed. Connection settings in Internet Explorer only specify "auto detect", proxy settings are disabled. If I start a console application (built with WCF in .NET 4.0) on the same server which also tries to connect to the same WCF service it fails telling me that no endpoint was available listening on http://www.domain.com/Service.svc. It was design only for use with ie6 but now we need make it also run well on new client: ie8,ie7 on win7. I understand the most difference is the client: DOM and CSS. But my problem is we hasn't been worked with ie8, and I have not enough time to build an testing environment because our developing environment is not ready to make test (its remoting completely, and managed by another partner) Any experience or suggestion to help me weighing this task need will be welcomed.

• Loading .png image from array of uint8_t into OpenGL ES texture

  Normally, when we want to load a texture for OpenGL ES with .png, we simply add the .png images into XCode. The .png files will be altered for optimization by XCode and these altered png files can loaded into OpenGL ES texture during the runtime. However, what I am trying to do is quite different. I am trying to load a .png file that is not from the prebuilt/compile. The png file will be transmitted externally from UDP, and it will be in the form of array of bytes. I am very sure that the png is transferred correctly, but when it comes to displaying the png image in the form of the OpenGL ES texture, the image somehow shows incorrectly. The colors that are being sent are presented but the positions are somehow very incorrect. However, the position of the colors still retain some aspects of the original position. Here: The left image shows the original .png, while the right shows the png being displayed on iPhone using OpenGL ES Texture. It looks more like the png data is not being decoded or incorrectly processed.   i am using movable type 4.23 (publishing system) and have been testing my site on a PC and discovered that internet explorer (IE) browsers are unable to view my site due to a conflict in the javascript of the signin widget (initially i thought it was in the mt.js file). i receive this error: "Error 80004004"...as well as in the Javascript itself: "Element is not an object" (or object is not an element?)... function mtUpdateSignInWidget(u) { var el = document.getElementById('signin-widget-content'); if i put in "id" where 'sign-widget-content' goes, it will say its not an object. all other browsers work perfectly (firefox, safari and opera on my mac and firefox on pc). if anyone wants a link to the test page, i can provide that... someone please help! thanks.

  I want to be able to layout nested divs with these properties: width: 100% height: 100% padding: 10px I want it to be such that, the children are 100% width and height of the remaining space after padding is calculated, not before. Otherwise, when I have a document like the below example, the child makes the scrollbars appear. But the scrollbars are not the main issue, the fact that the child stretches beyond the width of the parent container is. I can use all position: absolute declarations, but that doesn't seem right.   How can I get an MP3 audio file to play in iPhone Safari (OS 3.1)? Currently, I am generating HTML e.g. <a href="file.mp3"><img src="sound.png" alt="Play audio"/></a> to play the file on clicking on the nested image. This works on Safari on OSX, but not on the iPhone. There, the content of the file is shown as text, but it does not appear to be a mime-type problem when checked with Live HTTP Headers from Firefox. I have found approaches referenced here. These require the Safari Plugins setting to be on in the preferences, which is why it did not previously work for me.

• What is wrong with my Basic Authentication in my Browser?

  Hi folks, i'm trying to goto the following url :- http://user1:pass1@localhost:1234/api/users?format=xml nothing to complex. Notice how i've got the username/password in the url? this, i believe, is for basic authentication. When I do that, the Request Headers are MISSING the 'Authorize' header. Er... that's not right :( I have anonymous authentication only setup on the site. I don't want to have anon off and basic turned on .. because not all of the site requires basic.. only a few action methods. So .. why is this not working? Is this something to do with the fact my code is not sending a 401 challenge or some crap? For What It's Worth, my site is ASP.NET MVC1 running on IIS7 (and the same thing happens when i run it on cassini). Update: If this is an illegal way of calling a resource using basic auth (ala security flaw) .. then is this possible to do, for an ASP.NET MVC website .. per action method (and not the entire site, per say)?

• Is it possible to get code coverage data for a GWT web app running tests from the web browser?

  I am not sure if this is possible but I would like some way to get code coverage information for tests that are written in Quick Test for our GWT based web app. It does not seem like there is any solution because the Quick Test Pro tests are testing against the GWT compiled app and not the original java code in which the app was written. I suppose I could get coverage data on the javascript that the GWT compiler creates, but there would be no way for me (that I know of) to map this information back to the original java code. Is there some way to do this?

  I am doing a project where I am using JSF 2.0 & Primefaces UI Components. There is a tab view component with tabs, "Day","Week" & "Month". In all tab, I have to display Bar Charts in each. For the same, I am fetching three list using the following three method. In the following code, UpdateCountHelper is fetching the data from database. So, UpdateCountHelper is taking some time for fetching data. Now in pie chart, I am using the same lists. So, it will again fetch the data from database & waste time. To solve that problem I have created other three lists & have given only reference of those previous lists. So, now no database fetching occur. • How do you handle browser cache with login/logout?

  To improve performances, I'd like to add a fairly long Cache-Control (up to 30 minutes) to each page since they do not change often. However, each page also displays the name of the user logged in (like this website). The problem is when the user logs in or logs out: the user name must change. How can I change the user name after each login/logout action while keeping a long Cache-Control? Here are the solutions I can think of: Ajax request (not cached) to retrieve and display the user name. If I have 2 requests (/user?registered and /user?new), they could be cached as well. But I am afraid this extra request would nullify my caching performance-wise Add a unique URL variable (?time=) to make the URL different, and cancel the cache. However, I would have to add this variable to all links on my webpage, not very convenient code-wise This problems becomes greater if I actually have more content that is not the same for registered users and new users.
