    Hi I have a usercontrol which includes some JavaScript, if I add the control to a standard web page I can start the JavaScript in the body tag, like this <body onLoad="Start()"> The problem is that I need to add the control to a webpage which is inside a masterpage, how do I then start the script when a page inside a masterpage doesn't have a body tag.

    I have a flat file source from Excel that has a structure like this: **People** Day1 Day2 Day3 Day4 Person1 someValue ... Person2 Person3 And i would like the package to put this information in a database with standard columns 'Person', 'Day', 'Value'. Does anybody know how to do this - at the moment because the days are going along the top, the package is assuming these are seperate data columns when they are not really and the mapping is not working.

    I need to work on C++ project on my windows machine. My project will consist of various classes(.h and .cpp) as well as the startup file to start the application. The preliminary design is simple but the application has the potential to gain complexity as time goes by. What I need here is ideas to set up the C++ project compiler/IDE/Makefile etc..etc. as well as some standard tools besides Visual C++ to compile/build/link projects such as these on a Windows OS.     in a PHP web page i need to run this following command to create a new domain: virtualmin create-domain --domain DOMAIN --pass PASS --plan 'Standard Package' --limits-from-plan --features-from-plan This is usually executed in a shell but i don't know how to do it from a web page and also i need to take the domain string and pass string from a web form. Can anyone help with the PHP code as my skills are basic and i have already tried a few things that just don't work. Thanks.

  • Should the function or the caller be resonsible for input validation?

    I'm doing a security audit on a fairly large php application and was wondering where I should include my user-input validation. Should I validate the data, then send the clean data off to the back-end functions or should I rely on each function to do it's own validation? Or even both? Is there any standard or best-practice for this sort of thing? Currently the app does both inconsistently and I'll like to make things more consistent.

  • Java API Method Run Times

    Is there a good resource to get run times for standard API functions? It's somewhat confusing when trying to optimize your program. I know Java isn't made to be particularly speedy but I can't seem to find much info on this at all. Example Problem: If I am looking for a certain token in a file is it faster to scan each line using string.contains(...) or to bring in say 100 or so lines putting them to a local string them performing contains on that chunk.

Different sources appear to say different things and trhe venerable php.net iteslf (appears) not to explicitly state this - although I must admit, I only had a quick look. In cases where I am passing around 'heavy' objects, I need to pass by reference, but I dont want to keep typing: function foo(TypeName& $obj) if I can get away with simply, function foo(TypeName $obj) So what does the standard say?

Is there a 'clever' way to check if two png images are different? By clever I mean other than comparing them byte by byte? (after having compared their size, obviously)

  • Why is T() = T() allowed in C++?

    I believe the expression T() creates an rvalue (by the Standard) However the following code compiles (at least on gcc4.0) class T {... }; int main() { T() = T(); } I know technically this is possible because member functions can be invoked on temporaries and the above is just invoking the operator= on the r-value temporary created from T(). But conceptually this is like assigning a new value to an r-value. Is there a good reason why this is allowed?

    This is my first question on Stack Overflow, I would like to know about any c programming books that have real programs to introduce real problems as opposed to standard books with examples aimed to teach the language it should be sort of like a challenge with solutions so that concepts like recursion can be used i know that i should find solutions to existing problems to learn the language but this is my first attempt and i find it hard to understand some simple problems so i was hoping for a book with solutions.

My question is, is there a standard that all RSS feeds support (Do all of them have date, title etc)? If so, is there a XSD that describes this.     What is the easiest way in standard Java Swing to align three components in such a way that: the dynamic widths of Component1 and Component3 are adjusted to be equal, while Component2 (which is in between) has constant width? Imagine we have some resizable JPanel (such as inside a JFrame).
