  • Where can I download an english version of the Sony Bravia SDK & Emulator?

    - by Kevin Williams
I recently purchased a Sony Bravia TV that comes with Internet capability built in. It supports a number of 'widgets' and apps built for youtube, twitter, various yahoo! offerings and apparently AOL & Netflix if I were in the USA. I'd like to hack on the SDK, but the only version I can find is Japanese. Where is a good source of information (in English)? Japanese SDK Documentation (English Layout & JavaScript API pdfs included)

  • Image map popup on rollover, with popup text drawn from database

    - by lbholland
I have a custom map of the USA with about 20 polygonal hot spots. I would like a box to pop up next to each hot spot on hover, with text and links drawn from my DB specific to the location. I would have thought this is a common situation, but I can't find a solution that works. I tried using an asp:imagemap and an ajax popup extender but you can't assign IDs to hotspots and it doesn't support mouseover events. I tried css with an html image map but I can't figure out how to use css solutions with polygonal hot spots, and I also don't know how to link it to get the data from the db without asp targets (I'm not very familiar with jquery, which would work, I am guessing). Anyone know of any simple-ish solutions out there?

  • Forth: free video tutorials?

    - by Peter Mortensen
Can you recommend any free Forth video tutorials (except for following) ? The only one I know of is Samuel A. Falvo's excellent "Over The Shoulder Episode 1: Text Preprocessing in Forth". MPEG. 102 MB. There are also videos from the annual Forth Day, but I don't consider those to be tutorials. (Unfortunately Forth is, like R, C, C++, Java, C#, D, COM, .NET, F# and Frontier, an unspecific search term. Search tip for Forth: qualify it with "ans" - as in ANS Forth, the ANSI Forth Standard.) Accumulated based on answers and other information: Introductions to Forth Forth. By Ben Stiglitz. At RubyConf 2008 Orlando Florida, U.S.A. 13 min 35 secs. 32 MB. MP4. Hai all, I am looking for a solution to customize PopoverController view in my iPad app. I need to remove the pointing icon along with the popover view and to make the view to the middle of the App window. It should go back to the button from where it is popped when we click on anywhere other than the popover view. USA TODAY app in iPad included such an option. I am not sure about how did they implemented it. Wishes your replies soon.

  • ssl_error_rx_record_too_long and Apache SSL

    - by Subimage
I've got a customer trying to access one of my sites, and they keep getting this error ssl_error_rx_record_too_long They're getting this error on all browsers, all platforms. I can't reproduce the problem at all. My server and myself are located in the USA, the customer is located in India. I googled on the problem, and the main source seems to be that the SSL port is speaking in HTTP. I checked my server, and this is not happening. I tried the solution mentioned here, but the customer has stated it did not fix the issue. Can anyone tell me how I can fix this, or how I can reproduce this??? PS: If you can reproduce the problem with the following URL please let me know! THE SOLUTION Turns out the customer had a misconfigured local proxy! Hope that helps anyone finding this question trying to debug it in the future.

  • "Find nearest location" by Zip/Postal Code?

    - by codemonkey613
I need a "find nearest location" on our website. Where visitor enters their zip/postal code, then they are redirected to specific webpage for our nearest location. We have forty USA and Canada locations. How can I build something like this? Could I do this with the Google Maps API? I already have a custom map on Google Maps. It's plotted with our locations. It would be nice to send Google Maps a command to say "what's our nearest location at __ zip code". Any suggestions?

  • Geographical ontologies ready to use?

    - by Mulone
Hi all, I'm looking for an ontology containing geographical knowledge. In particular I'd like to have these types of information: political states / regions / cities / city areas geographical regions (e.g. continents, name of mountains, lakes, etc) For example, starting from the node "New York" I'd like to be able to find parents like the New York state, the USA etc, and children like Manhattan, Bronx, etc. I couldn't find anything open-source/free to use. I know that a lot of researchers extract such information from Wikipedia, but I couldn't find any off-the-shelf packages to use. I also checked OpenStreetMap, which is great for the amount of data but doesn't seem to contain a proper geographical ontology. Even a web service would be good! Any hints? Mulone

  • What is the length of time to send a list of 200,000 integers from a client's browser to an internet

    - by indiehacker
Over the connections that most people in the USA have in their homes, what is the approximate length of time to send a list of 200,000 integers from a client's browser to an internet sever (say Google app engine)? Does it change much if the data is sent from an iPhone? How does the length of time increase as the size of the integer list increases (say with a list of a million integers) ? Context: I wasn't sure if I should write code to do some simple computations and sorting of such lists for the browser in javascript or for the server in python, so I wanted to explore this issue of how long it takes to send the output data from a browser to a server over the web in order to help me decide where (client's browser or app engine server) is the best place for such computations to be processed.

  • Parsing a XML File and Replacing Chosen Node With Values From Text File

    - by transmogrify
    I wrote a C# Winforms program to take a XML file and load values from a text file into each occurrence of that field which the user specifies on the UI. For whatever reason, the program inserts a carriage return on any nodes which don't contain a value. For example, it will do that to <example></example> whereas it will not misbehave on something like <country>USA</country> What is causing it to do this and how can I prevent it? Here is the code from the part which handles this functionality. XmlDocument LoadXmlDoc = new XmlDocument(); StreamReader sr = File.OpenText(DataLoadTxtBx.Text); string InputFromTxtFile; LoadXmlDoc.Load(XmlPath.Text); XmlNodeList NodeToCreateOrReplace = LoadXmlDoc.GetElementsByTagName(XmlTagNameTxtBx.Text); foreach (XmlNode SelectedNode in NodeToCreateOrReplace) { if ((InputFromTxtFile = sr.ReadLine()) != null) { SelectedNode.InnerText = InputFromTxtFile; } } sr.Close(); LoadXmlDoc.Save(XmlPath.Text);

  • How to prevent direct access to my JSON service?

    - by FrankLy
I have a JSON web service to return home markers to be displayed on my Google Map. Essentially, http://example.com calls the web service to find out the location of all map markers to display like so: http://example.com/json/?zipcode=12345 And it returns a JSON string such as: {"address": "321 Main St, Mountain View, CA, USA", ...} So on my index.html page, I take that JSON string and place the map markers. However, what I don't want to have happen is people calling out to my JSON web service directly. I only want http://example.com/index.html to be able to call my http://example.com/json/ web service ... and not some random dude calling the /json/ directly. Quesiton: how do I prevent direct calling/access to my http://example.com/json/ web service?

  • Creating Videos: Which Framerate is common in the US?

    - by Stebi
I know that there are differences in different regions of the world regarding the framerate of videos. E.g. a DVD in Europe is in PAL with 720x756 and 25.0 fps. In the US its the NTSC standard with 720x480 and 29.97 fps. When I don't want to generate a DVD but a plain video file, e.g. WMV oder AVI what framerate is used in USA? I have a end user application where the user can generate videos, so what framerate does the US user expect it to have? Is there a difference in SD and HD video?

  • How do I access the data in JSON converted to hash by crack in ruby?

    - by Angela
Here is the example from the crack documentation: json = '{"posts":[{"title":"Foobar"}, {"title":"Another"}]}' Crack::JSON.parse(json) => {"posts"=>[{"title"=>"Foobar"}, {"title"=>"Another"}]} But how do I actually access the data in the hash? I've tried the following: array = Crack::JSON.parse(json) array["posts"] array["posts"] shows all the values, but I tried array["posts"]["title"] and it didn't work. Here is what I am trying to parse as an example: {"companies"=>[{"city"=>"San Mateo", "name"=>"Jigsaw", "address"=>"777 Mariners Island Blvd Ste 400", "zip"=>"94404-5059", "country"=>"USA", "companyId"=>4427170, "activeContacts"=>168, "graveyarded"=>false, "state"=>"CA"}], "totalHits"=>1} I want to access the individual elements under companies....like city and name.

  • reading 2 lines from IniFile

    - by Lakkerw
Trying again. On advice, adding the piece of code that I do understand. I am fine with the fact that I have to save 4 bits of information in two lines like so: IniFile.WriteString('TestSection','Name','Country'); IniFile.WriteString('TestSection','City','Street'); My question is more about loading this information back into the form. If in my IniFile I have saved for example the following code [TestSection] John=Uk London=barlystreet Mike=Spain Madrid=eduardostrata Emma=USA New York=1st Avenue Made up information in the IniFile. Added through the code above. Now my question is: How could I load for example, when I type in an edit box Mike, the rest of the belonging information.(Spain, Madrid, eduardostrata).

  • Split string on non-alphanumerics in PHP? Is it possible with php's native function?

    - by Jehanzeb.Malik
I was trying to split a string on non-alphanumeric characters or simple put I want to split words. The approach that immediately came to my mind is to use regular expressions. Example: $string = 'php_php-php php'; $splitArr = preg_split('/[^a-z0-9]/i', $string); But there are two problems that I see with this approach. It is not a native php function, and is totally dependent on the PCRE Library running on server. An equally important problem is that what if I have punctuation in a word Example: $string = 'U.S.A-men's-vote'; $splitArr = preg_split('/[^a-z0-9]/i', $string); Now this will spilt the string as [{U}{S}{A}{men}{s}{vote}] But I want it as [{U.S.A}{men's}{vote}] So my question is that: How can we split them according to words? Is there a possibility to do it with php native function or in some other way where we are not dependent? Regards

  • Net Neutrality FAIL [closed]

    - by leeand00
I know I'll get into all kinds of trouble for bringing this up on SO, but considering that nearly all of us programmers depend on the Internet to get our jobs done, I really think it's worth looking into today's failure of our right to use the Internet by way of Lobbying ISPs. Although something tells me there will be retribution for the actions of the ISPs/tel cos/cable and their lobbyist since, lets face it...ISPs/Telcos didn't invent the Internet. I'm not going to be the one to do it, but um I think somebody already has...as everybody I talked to was having Internet connection problems today at work. Just thought this might be relevant to all of our jobs...in the U.S.A. at least. If you work at an Big evil ISPs, by all means...try and close this question.
