  • B-Tree Revision

    - by stan
Hi, If we are looking for line intersections (horizontal and vertical lines only) and we have n lines with half of them vertical and no intersections then Sorting the list of line end points on y value will take N log N using mergesort Each insert delete and search of our data structue (assuming its a b-tree) will be < log n so the total search time will be N log N What am i missing here, if the time to sort using mergesort takes a time of N log N and insert and delete takes a time of < log n are we dropping the constant factor to give an overal time of N log N. If not then how comes < log n goes missing in total ONotation run time? Thanks

  • Force Richtextbox scrollbars to refresh

    - by Jiri
This question is about WinForms RichTextbox. I have a RichTextbox with ScrollBars property set to Vertical. I change it's RTF contents from the code and sometimes the vertical scrollbar appears disabled - when it should be enabled. This should never happen - the scrollbar should be either enabled, or not shown at all. (I had a similar issue in my VB6 app, when the scrollbar sometimes didn't appear at all when it should). Is there any way how to force the RichTextbox scrollbars to refresh, via PInvoke or any other way to fix this issue? Thanks.

  • Combobox drops up in IE 8 and it works correctly in IE 6

    - by ravi2082
Hi, I have a simple select/combo box with 100 options in the middle of a HTML page. When I open it in IE 6 it appears fine dropping down with a few elements displayed and a vertical scroll bar. In IE 8, it opens upward. Looks like it drops down till it reaches edge of browser screen when it has few options and then opens upward for new options added with a vertical scroll bar. Is there a way the select box can be adjusted to appear in IE 8 similar to IE 6? Thanks Ravi

  • Adding LegendItems in Flex places horizontally not vertically (as it's supposed to)

    - by David
I'm dynamically inserting LegendItems into a Legend using the following code: signalLegend.removeAllChildren(); signalLegend.direction = "vertical"; for (var i:int = 0; i < numItems - 1; i++) { signalLegend.addChild(new LegendItem()); legendItem = signalLegend.getChildAt(i) as LegendItem; legendItem.label = "Title here"; legendItem.setStyle("fill", theColour); } While the Legend direction is set as vertical, all the items are appearing horizontally. Very annoying.

  • how to flip Image in wpf

    - by shashank
Hello! I recently learned how to rotate a BitmapImage using the 'TransformedBitmap' and 'RotateTransformed' classes. Now I am able to perform clockwise rotations on my images. But how do I FLIP an image? I can't find the class(es) to perform horizontal and vertical flips of a BitmapImage. Please help me figure out how to do it. For instance, if my image was a drawing that looked like a 'd', then a vertical flip would result in something like a 'q', and a horizontal flip would result in something lika a 'b'. I hope this is clear enough. Thanks in advance! Best regards, shashank

  • text view not wrapping

    - by leenolasco
    I just tried a sample of retrieving and passing it to a textview. I am having some trouble wrapping my textview. The bottom part is not completely shown. What do i need to add to the xml file for it to completely show the bottom part of the data? <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="match_parent" android:gravity="left" android:orientation="vertical" android:padding="5dp" > <ScrollView android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_alignParentLeft="true" > <TextView android:id="@+id/tvFA" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_alignParentLeft="true" android:layout_alignParentTop="true" android:layout_marginLeft="36dp" android:layout_marginTop="36dp" android:text="TextView" android:maxLines = "1000" android:scrollbars = "vertical" android:textSize="20sp" /> </ScrollView> </RelativeLayout>

  • CSS repeat pattern with linear gradient

    - by luca
I'm on my first approach with photoshop patterns.I'm buildin a webpage where I want to use my pattern to give a nice effect to my webpage background. The pattern I found is 120x120 px If I was done here I should use this css: background-imag:url(mypattern.jpg); background-repeat:repeat; But Im not done.Id like to *add to my page's background a linear gradient(dir=top/down col=light-blue/green) with the pattern fill layer on top of it, with blending mode=darken *. This is the final effect: I come to the point. QUESTION: Combining linear vertical-gradient effect and my 120x120 pattern is it possible to find a pattern that I could use to repeat itself endlessly both vertical and horizontal??which is a common solution in this case? Hope It's clear thanks Luca

  • Finding what makes strings unique in a list, can you improve on brute force?

    - by Ed Guiness
Suppose I have a list of strings where each string is exactly 4 characters long and unique within the list. For each of these strings I want to identify the position of the characters within the string that make the string unique. So for a list of three strings abcd abcc bbcb For the first string I want to identify the character in 4th position d since d does not appear in the 4th position in any other string. For the second string I want to identify the character in 4th position c. For the third string it I want to identify the character in 1st position b AND the character in 4th position, also b. This could be concisely represented as abcd -> ...d abcc -> ...c bbcb -> b..b If you consider the same problem but with a list of binary numbers 0101 0011 1111 Then the result I want would be 0101 -> ..0. 0011 -> .0.. 1111 -> 1... Staying with the binary theme I can use XOR to identify which bits are unique within two binary numbers since 0101 ^ 0011 = 0110 which I can interpret as meaning that in this case the 2nd and 3rd bits (reading left to right) are unique between these two binary numbers. This technique might be a red herring unless somehow it can be extended to the larger list. A brute-force approach would be to look at each string in turn, and for each string to iterate through vertical slices of the remainder of the strings in the list. So for the list abcd abcc bbcb I would start with abcd and iterate through vertical slices of abcc bbcb where these vertical slices would be a | b | c | c b | b | c | b or in list form, "ab", "bb", "cc", "cb". This would result in four comparisons a : ab -> . (a is not unique) b : bb -> . (b is not unique) c : cc -> . (c is not unique) d : cb -> d (d is unique) or concisely abcd -> ...d Maybe it's wishful thinking, but I have a feeling that there should be an elegant and general solution that would apply to an arbitrarily large list of strings (or binary numbers). But if there is I haven't yet been able to see it. I hope to use this algorithm to to derive minimal signatures from a collection of unique images (bitmaps) in order to efficiently identify those images at a future time. If future efficiency wasn't a concern I would use a simple hash of each image. Can you improve on brute force?

  • Connect two UIScrollView's together

    - by johnw188
Here's a tricky iPhone problem I've been working on. I have three UIScrollViews on a page, one that only scrolls horizontally, one that only scrolls vertically, and one that scrolls both horizontally and vertically. I want to lock the views together, so that the horizontal location of the horizontal only scrollview matches the horizontal location of the main scrollview, and the vertical scrollview likewise, so that dragging the main scrollview around controls the horizontal and vertical scrollviews. Problem is, I'm completely stumped. I've looked around inside the apple documentation, but there doesn't seem to be any way to do this officially. One thought that I had was to somehow "clone" any touch on any of the scrollviews to a point on the other two, but I have no idea how to do this. If anyone has any thoughts on this, I'd very much appreciate it.

  • webview showing white bar on right side

    - by Funkyidol
I am giving the following method call to my webview client embedded in my layout wv.loadData("<html><body bgcolor=\"Black\"></body></html>","text/html", "utf-8"); when i run this on the device, it shows a white vertical bar on the right side. I fixed the white thing by using webview.setBackgroundColor(Color.BLACK); but i want to remove it completely Following is my layout xml <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" > <TextView android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="@string/hello" /> <WebView android:id="@+id/wv1" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_width="fill_parent" /> </LinearLayout> Any suggestions??

  • How to disable horizontal scrolling within virtualbox on Ubuntu guest, Windows 7 host?

    - by Steven Rosato
This post is a duplicate from superuser.com, but since I had no answers, I started to doubt it was a user question and maybe more of a programming question (because of the configuration files), so here it is: I am using Windows 7 as Host, Ubuntu Karmic as guest OS with guest tools installed and I get an annoying glitch when switching from host to the guest machine: vertical scrolling switches to horizontal! (using the mouse wheel). Since I don't really care about horizontal scrolling, how can I disable this? I have checked the web and the only thing I found was to play in the xorg.conf file and adding in the section "InputDevice" Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5" which would enable vertical scrolling only. The thing is, I don't have that section in my config file so I guessed that I would need to add Section "InputDevice" Identifier "VBoxMouse" Driver "vboxmouse" Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5" EndSection But that does not seem to work after restarting xserver. Any workaround for this?

  • Adding row to Datalist

    - by Scrappy
I have been searching around the web for a solution to this issue but have come across nothing so far. Basically I have a table as shown below, whhich i made up of itemtemplate fields and is populated by a dataset from my database. It shows brands to the user of which they can then click and go onto another page. I need to add another option to the table called "All Brands". Thus then I can use this to go to a page showing all the brands. However I can not seem to easily add this into the datalist. <asp:DataList id="TypesList" runat="server" Visible="true" RepeatColumns="3" Width="100%" ItemStyle-Width="25%" ItemStyle-HorizontalAlign="Center"> <ItemTemplate> <div style="position:relative;vertical-align:top;"> <table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="100%"> <tr> <td align="center" style="height:170px;vertical-align:top;text-align:center;" valign="top"> <asp:Label ID="lblID" runat="server" Visible="false" Text='<%#DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem,"batteryTypeID")%>'></asp:Label> <a href='/<%#DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem,"catid")%>/<%#DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem,"catname")%>/<%#DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem,"brandid")%>/<%#DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem,"brand_name")%>/<%#DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem,"batteryTypeID")%>/<%#DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem,"typeName")%>' target='_self'> <asp:Image ID="imgProd" runat="server" ImageUrl='images/none.jpg' /> </a> </td> </tr> <tr> <td class="productdesc" style="text-align:center;vertical-align:top;"> <span style="color:#000;font-weight:bold;font-size:120%;"> <%#DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "typeName").ToString%> </span> </td> </tr> </table> </div> </ItemTemplate> </asp:DataList> Thanks in advance for any help

  • How to align MDIChild on left?

    - by lyborko
Hi, I am trying hard to align MDIChild form to the left of the parent MDIForm setting Align:=alLeft at design time. Aparently aligned MDIChild is higher than parents client area (I do not know why), thats why vertical scrollbar appears on parent form. The problem is, that I want this form create dynamicaly; putting vertical Splitter between these MDIchild forms, in order to size them by mouse. But when I create Splitter it aligns itself totaly on the left, as if MDIChild form was not aligned (alLeft) at all. I set MDIChild parameters to: Align:=alLeft; Windowstate:=wsNormal; Borderstyle:=bsSizable; Does anybody solved this problem before? thanx a lot P.S Delphi 7, Win XP

  • How to resize WebView according to its content?

    - by Miraaj
Hi all, I want to set simple html contents within a web view and then resize it according to its content. To set simple html contents within web view I used this code and it is working fine: [[myWebView mainFrame] loadHTMLString:webViewContents baseURL:baseURLFramed]; Right now, if content is more than its actual size then it appears in web view showing both vertical and horizontal scroller in it. I want to set some default width and manage height according to its content in a way so that neither horizontal nor vertical scroller appears. Can anyone suggest me some solution for it? Thanks, Miraaj

  • WPF Some styles not applied on DataTemplate controls

    - by Martin
    Hi, I am trying to learn something about WPF and I am quite amazed by its flexibility. However, I have hit a problem with Styles and DataTemplates, which is little bit confusing. I have defined below test page to play around a bit with styles etc and found that the Styles defined in <Page.Resources> for Border and TextBlock are not applied in the DataTemplate, but Style for ProgressBar defined in exactly the same way is applied. Source code (I just use Kaxaml and XamlPadX to view the result) <Page xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml"> <Page.Resources> <Style TargetType="{x:Type Border}"> <Setter Property="Background" Value="SkyBlue"/> <Setter Property="BorderBrush" Value="Black"/> <Setter Property="BorderThickness" Value="2"/> <Setter Property="CornerRadius" Value="5"/> </Style> <Style TargetType="{x:Type TextBlock}"> <Setter Property="FontWeight" Value="Bold"/> </Style> <Style TargetType="{x:Type ProgressBar}"> <Setter Property="Height" Value="10"/> <Setter Property="Width" Value="100"/> <Setter Property="Foreground" Value="Red"/> </Style> <XmlDataProvider x:Key="TestData" XPath="/TestData"> <x:XData> <TestData xmlns=""> <TestElement> <Name>Item 1</Name> <Value>25</Value> </TestElement> <TestElement> <Name>Item 2</Name> <Value>50</Value> </TestElement> </TestData> </x:XData> </XmlDataProvider> <HierarchicalDataTemplate DataType="TestElement"> <Border Height="45" Width="120" Margin="5,5"> <StackPanel Orientation="Vertical" Margin="5,5" VerticalAlignment="Center" HorizontalAlignment="Center"> <TextBlock HorizontalAlignment="Center" Text="{Binding XPath=Name}"/> <ProgressBar Value="{Binding XPath=Value}"/> </StackPanel> </Border> </HierarchicalDataTemplate> </Page.Resources> <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal" HorizontalAlignment="Center" VerticalAlignment="Center"> <StackPanel Orientation="Vertical" VerticalAlignment="Center"> <Border Height="45" Width="120" Margin="5,5"> <StackPanel Orientation="Vertical" VerticalAlignment="Center" HorizontalAlignment="Center"> <TextBlock HorizontalAlignment="Center" Text="Item 1"/> <ProgressBar Value="25"/> </StackPanel> </Border> <Border Height="45" Width="120" Margin="5,5"> <StackPanel Orientation="Vertical" VerticalAlignment="Center" HorizontalAlignment="Center"> <TextBlock HorizontalAlignment="Center" Text="Item 2"/> <ProgressBar Value="50"/> </StackPanel> </Border> </StackPanel> <ListBox Margin="10,10" Width="140" ItemsSource="{Binding Source={StaticResource TestData}, XPath=TestElement}"/> </StackPanel> </Page> I suspect it has something to do with default styles etc, but more puzzling is why some Styles are applied and some not. I cannot find an easy explanation for above anywhere and thus would like to ask if someone would be kind enough to explain this behaviour in lamens' terms with possible links to technical description, i.e. to MSDN or so. Thanks in advance for you support!

  • D3 fisheye on width on bar chart

    - by Dexter Tan
    i have been trying to create a vertical bar chart with a d3 fisheye cartesian distortion with only the x-axis being distorted. I have succeeded in distorting the x position of the vertical bars on mouseover with the following code: var maxMag = d3.max(dataset, function(d) { return d.value[10]; }); var minDate = d3.min(dataset, function(d) { return new Date(d.value[1], d.value[2]-1, d.value[3]).getTime(); }); var maxDate = d3.max(dataset, function(d) { return new Date(d.value[1], d.value[2]-1, d.value[3]).getTime(); }); var yScale = d3.scale.linear().domain([0, maxMag]).range([0, h]); var xScale = d3.fisheye.scale(d3.scale.linear).domain([minDate, maxDate]).range([0, w]).focus(w/2); var bar = svg.append("g") .attr("class", "bars") .selectAll(".bar") .data(dataset) .enter().append("rect") .attr("class", "bar") .attr("y", function(d) { return h - yScale(d.value[10]); }) .attr("width", w/dataset.length) .attr("height", function(d) { return yScale(d.value[10]); }) .attr("fill", function(d) { return (d.value[10] <= 6? "yellow" : "orange" ); }) .call(position); // Positions the bars based on data. function position(bar) { bar.attr("x", function(d) { var date = null; if (d.date != null) { date = d.date; } else { date = new Date(d.value[1],0,1); if (d.value[2] != null) date.setMonth(d.value[2]-1); if (d.value[3] != null) date.setMonth(d.value[3]); d.date = date; } return xScale(date.getTime()); }); } svg.on("mousemove", function() { var mouse = d3.mouse(this); xScale.distortion(2.5).focus(mouse[0]); bar.call(position); }); However at this point, applying fisheye on the width remains a mystery to me. I have tried several methods like using a fisheye scale for width however it does not work as expected. What i wish to do is to have the width of a bar expand on mouseover, the same way a single vertical bar is singled out on mouseover with the cartesian distortion. Any clues or help will be much appreciated! edit: http://dexter.xumx.me to view the visualisation i am talking about for easier understanding!

  • Alignment of View Elements within a LinearLayout

    - by Adam
I hate to ask this question; for some reason I can't figure it out on my own. I have a vertical LinearLayout that contains a custom View that I've defined in my app and and a TextView. I'd like my custom View to be aligned on the top of the screen and the TextView to be aligned at the bottom of the screen. Unfortunately, no matter what changes I make to the attributes of the XML file, my custom View always seems to be centered vertically when I run the emulator. The xml is like the following: <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:gravity="top"> <CustomView android:id="@+id/customID" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" tileSize="24" android:focusableInTouchMode="true" android:layout_gravity="top"/> <TextView android:id="@+id/text" android:text="@string/droidtactoe_layout_text" android:visibility="visible" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:gravity="center_horizontal" android:textSize="24sp" android:textColor="#00000000" android:layout_gravity="bottom"/> </LinearLayout>

  • how to customize NSTokenField like in "To/ CC" fields in mac mail?

    - by Miraaj
Hi all, I am able to work with NSTokenField, it is easy to use.. but I want your suggestions on how can I customize it just like it is in "To/ CC" fields in mac mail ie. when no. of tokens in a token field increases height of "To" field gets increased to a certain limit then a vertical scroller starts appearing! By default when we use a token field neither its height gets increased nor a vertical scroller appears! I tried different combinations in IB but I could not obtain mac mail like functionality. Can anyone suggest me some solution for it?? Thanks, Miraaj

  • Dashboard pattern: HorizontalScrollView with pagination or ScrollView?

    - by Macarse
I am starting a new application and I am willing to use the Dashboard pattern. For example: The Google IO app uses it: My issue is that the amount of buttons will be more than six. I'm not sure if I should use vertical or horizontal scrolling. Vertical scrolling could be done with a ScrollView or a GridView but I am not sure which would be the easier way to implement the horizontal version. I was thinking of using an HorizontalScrollView but it doesn't have pagination. It should feel similar to the tweetdeck app. How would you implement it?

  • UIViewScrollviw UITableView subview scrolling. IOS

    - by user1484810
I have a UIScrollview with a UITableview subview. The UIScrollview scrolls the UITableView horizontally. The UITable view naturally scrolls up and down. If a user places their finger on the UitableView, and moves (swipes) horizontally, The delegate method below is invoked (void)scrollViewDidScroll:(UIScrollView *)scrollView with scrollView isEqual theUIScrollView If the user lifts their finger and places it back down on the UITableView and moves in a vertical direction The delegate method below is invoked (void)scrollViewDidScroll:(UIScrollView *)scrollView with scrollView isEqual = theUITable If however the user places their finger and moves in a horizontally (void)scrollViewDidScroll:(UIScrollView *)scrollView with scrollView isEqual theUIScrollView If the user then moves the finger (without lifting it) in a vertical direction. delegate method scrollViewDidScroll is not invoked at all. (The reverse is true too.) I note that the "Pulse News" app seems to behave in the above manner.. Ultimately I want to figure out how to get the UITableView and UIScrollview moving in a "unidirectional" fashion, with one finger kept on the screen. Thanks...

  • Setting tabindex in dynamic table vertically then horizontally

    - by Wil
I have a page that is currently generating dynamically created textboxes in a table format. The users are requesting that the tab order be changed from horizontal-vertical to vertical-horizontal. I know that you can use the tabindex attribute to control the tab ordering, but I can't for the life of me figure out the right way to get the sequential number properly for the textboxes. I guess this is more of a math question than anything else! FYI, the textboxes are made while looping two different collections. First collection looped to make the rows, for each row, second collection (which is a property of the first collection objects) is looped to create the columns. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • How to change ScrollView's position after touch?

    - by Matt
I'm trying to make a ScrollView with a list of numbers in it that the user can select from. After the user touches and scrolls, after the finger is lifted I want the scroll to "snap" to the item in the middle of the ScrollView and give me the output. My ScrollView contains a vertical linear layout with TextView objects in it. The ScrollView's vertical size is about 60sp. I think this would involve the ScrollView.onTouch with a ACTION_UP, but I don't know how to use it. Also, is there a way to get an item's index or value based on a position in the list? Thanks!

  • Make JQuery UI Dialog automatically grow HEIGHT to fit its contents (width remains static)

    - by Zack Macomber
Having looked into How can I make a JQuery UI Dialog automatically grow or shrink to fit its contents?, I am using the height: "auto" option when building a jQuery modal dialog box: $( "#dialog-message" ).dialog({ autoOpen: false, width: "400", height: "auto", show: "slide", modal: true, buttons: { Ok: function() { $( this ).dialog( "close" ); } } }); However, the height isn't "growing" to fit all of the contents. I'm still seeing a vertical scrollbar as in this image: Is there a way right in the definition code I listed to ensure that the height grows enough so that a vertical scrollbar doesn't show? Or, do I need to do this programmatically before opening the dialog box? Edit 1 Not sure why, but Chrome is displaying this fine but IE 8 isn't. I need it to specifically work in IE 8 so I believe I'm just going to put a bottom margin on the text.
