• Mass-migrating from POP3 to Exchange 2010, how do I copy mailboxes?

  I'm in the process of planning our migration from an internal hosted POP3-server (dovecot) to Exchange 2010. We're using Outlook 2003 for the moment, but will soon upgrade to Outlook 2010. The big problem is that we have about 50 computers here in our HQ, plus ~30 clients in branch offices (wich will get their Exchange migration later sometime). I'm the only IT personel, and having to go around and manually set up Outlook and copy over their PST contents is not a option I'm looking for. Some users have set outlook to keep messages for X number of days on the POP3 server, others have not. Using a POP3 connector to transfer over the mails is not a viable option. Here is what I've done so far: Created a transform for the Office 2003 administrative installation point Created a .PRF file to modify any existing e-mail account to switch over to Exchange (including the RPC-encrypt hotfix described in MSKB 2006508) Tested both transform and PRF, both works Created a test-OU and GPO containing the Office 2003 installation with transform applied, also works My big question is: How can I force Outlook to import any existing .PST into the new Exchange mailbox when the user starts up Outlook for the first time after the MST/PRF have been applied? Is this possible?

• Portforwarding Combine Several Ports

  Hi I got a Raspberry Pi at A.A.A.B in my local network and I have set up a DMZ on my router so that any incoming traffic that comes to my router gets redirected to my raspberry pi wich I can connect via NO-IP adress. The problem is that I want to set up portforwarding since i got several services running on my Pi like SSH, torrent webgui, webalbum, etc. I had this already done before long time ago, but I forgot a bit the syntax and cant get to set it up. Router Help says: The Application allows you to do port forwarding, but only have the ports open when data flowing out of the trigger ports. When a program sends data out on outgoing ports called trigger ports, the device then allows incoming data on the open ports specified in your port triggering configuration. 1.Trigger Port Start Trigger Port Start Specify the start port on the device that would trigger the device to open ports for incoming data. 2.Trigger Port End Specify the end port on the device that would trigger the device to open ports for incoming data. You can enter a port number the same as the trigger port start or enter a larger port number to specify a port range. 3.Trigger Traffic Protocol Type Select the trigger traffic type. Open Port Specify all the ports to be opened. It's content could be: A single port only. A port range only. Start open port number and end port number should be separated by "-" . Combined several single port and several port ranges. Each single port or port range should be separated by "," . Open Traffic Protocol Type Select the open traffic type. • Mysql server high trafic makes websites really slow or unable to load

  Lately we have been having a lot of problems with our mysql server, from websites being really slow or even unable to load them at all. The server is a dedicated server that only runs our mysql database. i have been running some test using a profiler (JetProfiler) and tool to stress test (loadUI). If I use loadUI to connect with 50 simultaneous connections to one of our websites that runs a resently big query it will already make the website be unable to load. One of the things that makes me worried is that when I look at Jetprofile it always shows a Treads_connected of 1.00 and it seems that when it hits around 2.00 that I'm unable to connect. The 3 big peaks are when I run a test with loadUI, first one was 15 simultaneous connections wich made it still able for me to load the website but just really slow, the second one was 40 simultaneous connections which already made it impossible to load and the third one was with 100 connection which also didn't make it load anymore. Another thing that worries me is that in JetProfiler it says all the queries that get used are full table scans, could this maybe be the problem? The website I run as a test runs 3 queries, one for a menu that outputs around 1000 rows, one for the adds that has around 560 rows and a big one to get posts that has around 7000 rows (see screenshot bellow) I also have monitored the cpu of the server and there seems to be no problem there, even when I make a lot of connections with loadui the cpu stays low. I can't seem to figure out what is the main cause of the websites being unable to load when there is a high amount of traffic, if anyone has other suggestions for testing or something that might cause the problem please let me know.

• Nexenta, NFS and LOCK_EX

  I'm currently using an LAMP architecture and I expect a big problem :( I have several http web server using PHP5. All are mounting via NFS (v3) the directory for all the hosted websites. The file server is running the Nexenta Storage Appliance using ZFS . The problem is all the NFS client trying to write something in a file over the NFS get this problem : This is inside the apache2 process: open("/nfs/website1/file.txt", ORDWR|OCREAT, 0600) = 11647 fstat(11647, {stmode=SIFREG|0600, st_size=23754, ...}) = 0 flock(11647, LOCK_EX And the process never get the LOCK and keep waiting for... always. The effect? All the apache2 procces get used and waiting.. my severs can't still proccess the others requests because there is no more proccess available. I don't now where to find a solution.. for me it.'s on the NFS server side.. but wich configuration is wrong or missing ? How can I find what is wrong? • Windows 7, enabeling IE for removal

  For a while now, Windows Update has been prompting me to update IE9 to IE10. And every time I turn off my PC, It starts to install that one update wich allways fails. Why does it fail updating IE9? I don't know. So the solution I had in my mind was to remove IE9 and then install IE10 manually. THe problem is now, I can't find the uninstall file for IE9. I have looked in windows control panel / programs and features but it didn't show up, not even in the installed updates section. So after I clicked on Turn windows features on or off, I saw that the IE9 box wasn't checked. So I checked it, clicked OK, but then when I clicked on the Turn windows features on or off link again, it wasn't checked anymore. It's almost like Windows doesn't want me to uninstall IE9. but I have to in order to normally shut down my pc, because everytime I shut my PC off, it tries to install that stupid update again! What can I do to solve this?

• Storage model for various user setting and attributes in database?

  I'm currently trying to upgrade a user management system for one web application. This web application is used to provide remote access to various networking equipment for educational purposes. All equipment is assigned to various pods, which users can book for periods of time. The current system is very simple - just 2 user types: administrators and students. All their security and other attributes are mostly hardcoded. I want to change this to something like the following model: user <-- (1..n)profile <--- (1..n) attributes. I.e. user can be assigned several profiles and each profile can have multiple attributes. At runtime all profiles and attributes are merged into single active profile. Some examples of attributes i'm planning to implement: EXPIRATION_DATE - single value, value type: date, specifies when user account will expire; ACCESS_POD - single value, value type: ref to object of Pod class, specifies which pod the user is allowed to book, user profile can have multiple such attributes with different values; TIME_QUOTA - single value, value type: integer, specifies maximum length of time for which student can reserve equipment. CREDIT_CHARGING - multi valued, specifies how much credits will be assigned to user over period of time. (Reservation of devices will cost credits, which will regenerate over time); Security permissions and user preferences can end up as profile or user attributes too: i.e CAN_CREATE_USERS, CAN_POST_NEWS, CAN_EDIT_DEVICES, FONT_SIZE, etc.. This way i could have, for example: students of course A will have profiles STUDENT (with basic attributes) and PROFILE A (wich grants acces to pod A). Students of course B will have profiles: STUDENT, PROFILE B(wich grants to pod B and have increased time quotas). I'm using Spring and Hibernate frameworks for this application and MySQL for database. For this web application i would like to stay within boundaries of these tools. The problem is, that i can't figure out how to best represent all these attributes in database. I also want to create some kind of unified way of retrieveing these attributes and their values. Here is the model i've come up with. • The LoadLibraryA method returns error code 1114 (ERROR_DLL_INIT_FAILED) after more than 1000 cycles

  Hi, I'm programing on C++, I'm using Visual Studio 2008, Windows XP, and I have the following problem: My application, that is a DLL that can be used from Python, loads an external dll, uses the required methods, and then unloads this external Dll. It's working properly, but after more than 1000 cycles the method "LoadLibraryA" returns a NULL reference. The main steps are: HINSTANCE h = NULL; h = LoadLibraryA(dllfile.c_str()); DWORD dw = GetLastError(); The error got is: ERROR_DLL_INIT_FAILED 1114 (0x45A) A dynamic link library (DLL) initialization routine failed. The Dll is unloaded by using the following: FreeLibrary(mDLL); mDLL = NULL; Where mDLL is defined like this: HINSTANCE mDLL; First alternative tried: Just load the Dll only once, and unloaded it when the application ends. This fix the problem but introduces a new one. When the application ends, instead of first executing the DllMain method of my applicaion, wich unloads the external DLL, is executing first the DllMain method of the other Dll. This cause the following error because my application is trying to unload a Dll that was unload by itself previously. "Unhandled exception at 0x04a00d07 (DllName.DLL) in Python.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x0000006b". Any suggestion will be welcomed. Thanks in advance. Regards.

• How can I use Convert.ChangeType to convert string into numerics with group separator?

  Hello, I want to make a generic string to numeric converter, and provide it as a string extension, so I wrote the following code: public static bool TryParse<T>( this string text, out T result, IFormatProvider formatProvider ) where T : struct try { result = (T)Convert.ChangeType( text, typeof( T ), formatProvider ); return true; } catch(... I call it like this: int value; var ok = "123".TryParse(out value, NumberFormatInfo.CurrentInfo) It works fine until I want to use a group separator: As I live in France, where the thousand separator is a space and the decimal separator is a comma, the string "1 234 567,89" should be equals to 1234567.89 (in Invariant culture). But, the function crashes! When a try to perform a non generic conversion, like double.Parse(...), I can use an overload which accepts a NumberStyles parameter. I specify NumberStyles.Number and this time it works! So, the questions are : Why the parsing does not respect my NumberFormatInfo (where the NumberGroupSeparator is well specified to a space, as I specified in my OS) How could I make work the generic version with Convert.ChangeTime, as it has no overload wich accepts a NumberStyles parameter ?

• ASPXAUTH cookie is not being saved.

  Hi, Im working on a web project in ASP .NET MVC 2. In this project we store some info inside an ecripted cookie (the ASPXAUTH cookie) to avoid the need to query the db for every request. The thing is the code for this part has suddenly stopped working. I reviewed the changes made to the code on the source control server for anything that could be causing it, I found nothing. I even reverted to a known working copy (working on some other persons PC, same code, etc) but after debugging, it seems the .ASPXAUTH cookie is not getting saved anymore. Instead the ASP.NET_SessionId cookie is being set... (wich before wasn't) I changed the web.config file to turn off the sessionState. This eliminated the ASP.NET_SessionId cookie from being set, but it is still not saving the auth cookie. Ive recently installed some Microsoft Windows XP Updates, but the other person (whos PC runs the application just fine) also did. After googling, some info i found pointed out to a problem with the expiration date of the cookie. Ether cus the pc didnt have the right time/date (this was not the case) and others cus of the cookie expiration date being wrongly set. (I checked and it is being set correctly)... The problem persists with other browsers besides the one im using (Chrome) i tried it with IE6. Any ideas on why this is happening? Ill continue to post any helpful information i can find. • Implementing the outside application „openedFileView“ in c# Project

  I work on a application where i want to find out which files on my filesystem is used by a Process. After trying around with the System.Diagnostics.Process class, and didn´t get the resulst i wanted i find the application called OpenedFileView from Nirsoft. http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/opened_files_view.html Basically it does exactly what i want but i have some problems with the implimication in my project. The option wich “OpenedFileView” gives you is to start it with some arguments that it creates you an txt file with all the information i want. But for my case i want to whach the processes in realtime, and if i start the application repetitively i always have the hourglass at my mouse cursor. So after this i tryed some ways to get rid of it, tryed out to put it in a BackgroundWorker Thread. But this changed nothing at all. I also looked for a way to force the Process not to exit, and sending new arguments to it, but this also didn´t worked. So is there any way to use this application in the way I want, or does this didn´t work at all? I hope somebody can help me either with getting away this annoying mouse cursor hourglass, or with a better implimication of this application so i can use it in realtime! • MVC ASP.NET, ObjectContext and Ajax. Weird Behaviour

  Hi, i've been creating a web application in mvc asp.net. I have three different project/solutions. One solution contains the model in EF (DAL) and all the methods to add, update, delete and query the objects in the model, the objectcontext is managed here in a per request basis. Other solution contains a content management system in wich authorized users insert, delete, update and access objects through the DAL mentioned before. And the last solution contains the web page that is accessed by all users and where the only operations executed are selects, no update, inserts or deletes here. All the selects are executed against the DAL mentioned before (the first solution). The problem here is that i'm not sure whether an HttpContext lifespan ObjectContext is the best solution. I have a lot of ajax calls in my web app and i'm not sure if an httpcontext could interfere with the performance of the application. I've been noticed that in some cases, specially when someone is working in the content manager inserting, updating or deleting, when you try to click on any link of the user web application (the web app that is accessed by any user - the third one that i mentioned before) the web page freezes and it remains stucked transferring data. In order to stop that behaviour you have to stop and refresh or click several times on the link. Excuse me for my bad english. I hope you could understand and could help me to solve this issue. • Track "commands" send to WPF window by touchpad (Bamboo)

  Hi, I just bought a touchpad wich allows drawing and using multitouch. The api is not supported fully by windows 7, so I have to rely on the build in config dialog. The basic features are working, so if I draw something in my WPF tool, and use both fingers to do a right click, I can e.g. change the color. What I want to do now is assign other functions to special features in WPF. Does anybody know how to find out in what way the pad communicates with the app? It works e.g. in Firefox to scroll, like it should (shown on this photo). But I do not know how to hookup the scroll event, I tried a Scrollviewer (which ignores my scroll attempts) and I also hooked up an event with the keypressed, but it does not fire (I assume the pad does not "press a key" but somehow sends the "scroll" command direclty. How can I catch that command in WPF? Thanks a lot, Chris [EDIT] I got the scroll to work, but only up and down, not left and right. It was just a stupid "listbox in scrollviewer" mistake. But still not sure about commands like ZOOM in (which is working even in paint).. Which API contains such things? [EDIT2] Funny, the zoom works in Firefox, the horizontal scrolling does not. But, in paint, the horizontal scrolling works... • NSString sizeWithFont: returning inconsistent results? known bug?

  I'm trying to create a simple custom UIView wich contain a string drawn with a single font, but where the first character is slightly larger. I thought this would be easily implemented with two UILabel:s placed next to eachother. I use NSString sizeWithFont to measure my string to be able to lay it out correctly. But I noticed that the font baseline in the returned rectangle varies with +/- 1 pixel depending on the font size I set. Here is my code: NSString* ctxt = [text substringToIndex:1]; NSString* ttxt = [text substringFromIndex:1]; CGSize sz = [ctxt sizeWithFont: cfont ]; clbl = [[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, sz.width, sz.height)]; clbl.text = ctxt; clbl.font = cfont; clbl.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; [contentView addSubview:clbl]; CGSize sz2 = [ttxt sizeWithFont: tfont]; tlbl = [[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(sz.width, (sz.height - sz2.height), sz2.width, sz2.height)]; tlbl.text = ttxt; tlbl.font = tfont; tlbl.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; [contentView addSubview:tlbl]; If I use 12.0 and 14.0 as sizes, it works fine. But if I instead use 13.0 and 15.0, then the first character is 1 pixel too high. Is this a known problem? Any suggestions how to work around it? Creating a UIWebView with a CSS and HTML page seems way overkill for this. and more work to handle dynamic strings. Is that what I'm expected to do?

• Best way to manipulate and compare strings

  I'm developing a REST service, so a request could be something like this: /Data/Main/Table=Customers/ I need to get the segments one by one, and for each segment I will decide wich object I'm going to use, after I'll pass to that object the rest of the query so it can decide what to do next. Basically, the REST query is a path on a tree :P This imply lots String operations (depending on the query complexity), but StringBuilder is useful just for concatenations and remove, you cannot perform a search with IndexOf or similar. I've developed this class that fulfill my requirement, but the problem is that is manipulating Strings, so every time I get one segment ... I'll create extra Strings because String is an inmutable data type: public class RESTQueryParser { String _query; public RESTQueryParser(String query) { _query = query; } public String GetNext() { String result = String.Empty; Int32 startPosition = _query.StartsWith("/", StringComparison.InvariantCultureIgnoreCase) ? 1 : 0; Int32 i = _query.IndexOf("/", startPosition, StringComparison.InvariantCultureIgnoreCase) - 1; if (!String.IsNullOrEmpty(_query)) { if (i < 0) { result = _query.Substring(startPosition, _query.Length - 1); _query = String.Empty; } else { result = _query.Substring(startPosition, i); _query = _query.Remove(0, i + 1); } } return result; } } The server should support a lot of calls, and the queries could be huge, so this is gonna be a very repetitive task. I don't really know how big is the impact on the memory and the performance, I've just readed about it in some books. Should I implement a class that manage a Char[] instead Strings and implement the methods that I want? Or should be ok with this one? Regular expressions maybe?

• [Smalltalk] Store List of Instruction

  Hi all, I have a design Problem. i have a Drawer class wich invokes a serie of methods of a kind-of-brush class and i have a predefined shapes which i want to draw. Each shape uses a list of instance methods from the drawer. I can have more than 1 brush object. I want to add custom shapes on runtime in the drawer instance, especifying the list of methods of the new shape. i've created a class method for every predefined shape that returns a BlockClosure with the instruccions. Obviously i have to give to each BlockClosure the brush object as parameter. I imagine a collection with all the BlockClosures in each instance of the Drawer Class. Maybe i can inherit a SequenceableCollection and make a instruccion collection. Each element of the collection it's a instruction and i give the brush object when i instance this new collection. I really don't know the best way to store these steps. (Maybe a shared variable?)

The problems is that sometimes, my app crashes when I leave the new UIViewController and go to the previous one, not always. Normally the error that I'm getting is a double free object. I've used the malloc_error_break but I'm still not sure wich object is. Sometimes I can go from the previous UIViewController to the next one and come back 4 or 5 times, and the double free object appears. If I don't release any object, all is working and Instruments says that there are no memory leaks ... So, the final question, should I release those objects here or not ? Thanks, m.

  when I Implemented chatting Function , I use Ajax to send messages between file to another . so , it is working well on local host . but , when I upload it in to remote server it doesn't work. can U tell me ,why ? is an Ajax need Special configuration ? there is my files that I used : Ajax .js file witch has "ajax_send" function that i used in chatbox.js file chatbox.js file wich consest of functions i used it to send data from php file to another one and it display the state (any user sign in or new sending message and so on ..) user.php file whitch responseble to write user name in the text file usersonline.txt and then display the online users in the online users column. send.php file that write on room1.text recive.php file that read room1.txt and then write the content into the chat box I beleve that the problem comes from the ajax code in Ajax.js File so please help me find out the problem and how to solve it. is ajax needs special server settings ? because it was working at the local host !

  Hi, I'm developing a user control called SearchBox, that will act as a replacer for ComboBox for multiple records, as the performance in ComboBox is low for this scenario, but I'm having a big binding problem. I have a base control with a DependencyProperty called SelectedItem, and my SearchControl shows that control so that the user can select the record. The SearchControl also has a DependencyProperty called SelectedItem on it, and it is being updated when the user selects something on the base control, but the UI, wich has the SearchControl, is not being updated. I used a null converter so that I could see if the property was updating, but it's not. • Marquee in various TextView at the same time?

  Hi, I have a dinamic layout wich has one to six TextViews. All the TextViews are created in the Activity (programatically) and all are created equally. I want to marquee the text in the TextViews, but I don't know how to do it. Apparently, the TextView needs to be focused for the marquee works fine, but how i focus six TextViews at the same time? I think that's not possible, so, is there any workaround? Is it possible to get the marquee working without having the focus? In my CBTProc callback, I want to intercept all windows that are QWidgets: HWND hwnd= FindWindow(L"QWidget", NULL); which works well, since I get a corresponding HWND (I checked with Spy++) Then, I want to get a pointer to the QWidget, so I can use its functions: QWidget* q = QWidget::find(hwnd); but here's the problem, the returned pointer is always 0. Am I not injecting my code into the process properly? Or am I not using QWidget::find() as I should? • Mysterious extra hashtable entry

  Good evening everyone, I'm back :) Let me explain my problem. I have a hashtable in wich I store the products a costumors buys (%orders). It uses the productcode as key and has a reference to an array with the other info as value. At the end of the program, I have to rewrite the inventory to the updated version (i.e. subtract the quantity of the bought items) This is how I do this: sub rewriteInventory{ open(FILE,'>inv.txt'); foreach $key(%inventory){ print FILE "$key\|$inventory{$key}[0]\|$inventory{$key}[1]\|$inventory{$key}[2]\n" } close(FILE); } where $inventory{$key}[x] is 0 - Title, 1 - price, 2 - quantity. The problem here is that when I look at inv.txt afterwards, I see things like this: CD-911|Lady Gaga - The Fame|15.99|21 ARRAY(0x145030c)||| BOOK-1453|The Da Vinci Code - Dan Brown|14.75|12 ARRAY(0x145bee4)||| Where do these "ARRAY(0x145030c)|||" entries come from? Or more important, how do I get rid of them? This is the last part of this school task, I had so much problems programming all this and this stupid little thing comes up now and I'm really fed up with this whole Perl thing. • encodeURIComponent is really useful?

  Something I still don't understand when perfoming an http-get request to the server is what the advantage is in using JS fucntion encodeURIcomponent to encode each component of the http-get. Doing some tests I saw the server (using PHP) gets the values of the http-get request properly also if I don't use encodeURIcomponent!!! Obviuosly I still need to encode at client level the special character & ? = / : otherwise an http-get value like this "peace&love=virtue" would be considered as new key value pair of the http-get request instead of a one single value. But why does encodeURIcompenent encodes also many other charcaters like 'è' for example wich is translated into %C3%A8 that must be decoded on a PHP server using the utf8_decode function. By using encodeURIcomponent all values of the http-get request are utf8 encoded, therefor when getting them in PHP I have to call each time the utf8_decode function on each $_GET value which is quite annoying. Why can't we just encode only the & ? = / : charcaters??? see also: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2607946/js-encodeuricomponent-result-different-from-the-one-created-by-form It shows that encodeURIComponent does not even encode properly because a simple browser FORM GET encodes charactrs like '€', in different way. So I still wonder what does this encodeURIComponent is for?
