  How do I pull out the filename from a full path using regular expressions in C#? Say I have the full path C:\CoolDirectory\CoolSubdirectory\CoolFile.txt. How do I get out CoolFile.txt using the .NET flavor of regular expressions? I'm not really good with regular expressions, and my RegEx buddy and me couldn't figure this one out. Also, in the course of trying to solve this problem, I realized that I can just use System.IO.Path.GetFileName, but the fact that I couldn't figure out the regular expression is just making me unhappy and it's going to bother me until I know what the answer is.

• C# Byte[] to Url Friendly String

  Hello, I'm working on a quick captcha generator for a simple site I'm putting together, and I'm hoping to pass an encrypted key in the url of the page. I could probably do this as a query string parameter easy enough, but I'm hoping not too (just because nothing else runs off the query string)... My encryption code produces a byte[], which is then transformed using Convert.ToBase64String(byte[]) into a string. This string, however, is still not quite url friendly, as it can contain things like '/' and '='. Does anyone know of a better function in the .NET framework to convert a byte array to a url friendly string? I know all about System.Web.HttpUtility.UrlEncode() and its equivalents, however, they only work properly with query string parameters. If I url encode an '=' inside of the path, my web server brings back a 400 Bad Request error. Anyways, not a critical issue, but hoping someone can give me a nice solution **EDIT: Just to be absolutely sure exactly what I'm doing with the string, I figured I would supply a little more information. The byte[] that results from my encryption algorithm should be fed through some sort of algorithm to make it into a url friendly string. After this, it becomes the content of an XElement, which is then used as the source document for an XSLT transformation, and is used as a part of the href attribute for an anchor. I don't believe the xslt transformation is causing the issues, since what is coming through on the path appears to be an encoded query string parameter, but causes the HTTP 400 I've also tried HttpUtility.UrlPathEncode() on a base64 string, but that doesn't seem to do the trick either (I still end up with '/'s in my url)**

• How Can I: Generate 40/64 Bit WEP Key In Python?

  So, I've been beating my head against the wall of this issue for several months now, partly because it's a side interest and partly because I suck at programming. I've searched and researched all across the web, but have not had any luck (except one small bit of success; see below), so I thought I might try asking the experts. What I am trying to do is, as the title suggests, generate a 40/64 bit WEP key from a passphrase, according to the "de facto" standard. (A site such as [http://www.powerdog.com/wepkey.cgi] produces the expected outputs.) I have already written portions of the script that take inputs and write them to a file; one of the inputs would be the passphrase, sanitized to lower case. For the longest time I had no idea what the defacto standard was, much less how to even go about implementing it. I finally stumbled across a paper (http://www.lava.net/~newsham/wlan/WEP_password_cracker.pdf) that sheds as much light as I've had yet on the issue (page 18 has the relevant bits). Apparently, the passphrase is "mapped to a 32-bit value with XOR," the result of which is then used as the seed for a "linear congruential PRNG (which one of the several PRNGs Python has would fit this description, I don't know), and then from that result several bits of the result are taken. I have no idea how to go about implementing this, since the description is rather vague. What I need is help in writing the generator in Python, and also in understanding how exactly the key is generated. I'm not much of a programmer, so explanations are appreciated as well. (Yes, I know that WEP isn't secure.)

• Proper way in MVVM to drive visual states.

  Given a content presenter that can display one of 4 different application pages, and I want to fade/otherwise animate a transition between pages based on view model state. Ideally I'd like to have these all defined within a DataTemplate, and then trigger transitions based on an enum from the view model, so that when some enum representing state changes, the transitions trigger to the appropriate page. Is there a known best practice to handle things like this? Immediately coming to mind is the possibiltiy to use Enter and Exit actions on data triggers to play storyboards, but this definately doesn't use the parts and states model, so I'd like to shy away from that. I've also tried using the DataStateSwitchBehavior from the codeplex Expression project, but found it to be incompatable with the latest builds of WPF 4.0/Blend 4 RC's SDK. Does anyone have any ideas on how to handle this elegantly? I'm using the MVVM-Light framework. Also I'd like to point out that as long as this resides on a DataTemplate in a Resource Dictionary, code-behind is not an option without refactoring.

  I can't seem to call this executable correctly in my psake deploy script. If I do this: exec { "$ArchiverOutputDir\NServiceBus.Host.exe /install" } It simply outputs this (and is clearly not calling the executable - just outputting the value of that expression): c:\ReloDotNet2_ServiceEndpoints\Archiver\NServiceBus.Host.exe /install But if I do this: exec { c:\ReloDotNet2_ServiceEndpoints\Archiver\NServiceBus.Host.exe /install } I get the expected output from the executable. How do I correctly call an executable with a variable in the path to the executable in psake? If this is actually a PowerShell issue, please feel free to correct the question to reflect that insight. • Multipart question: Mapping between xml and Json using xpath

  This is a JSON mapping question from a json newbie. Currently i'm reading xml using xpath in C#, and the xpath are returning either the element or attribute node values, as is the schema's want. I want to write out some of the returned values into a json formatted file. I know i can faneigle the xpath expression to return the element or attribute names, so I can built the appropriate name/value json structure before serialization, but I was I'm wondering if their was some way of doing a mapping between the xml and json. The xml schema is fairly big, so potentially the mapping will be big, meaning a ton of cumbersom coding to make it work. Is their any way to automap somehow? I was planning to use json.net, which seems flexible enough, although their may be a better approach. Any help would be appreciated. Bob.

  I am trying to implement the Like button on my pages. Those pages represent the review page for a product. When a user Likes the page, it shows up in Facebook (not as a link, but as liking an entity), however when you click on the entity in Facebook it links through to a facebook.com hosted page representing the page. I want the user to be redirected to the og:url page? This happens for example when you Like an artist page on Grroveshar: http://grooveshark.com/#!/artist/Elbow/4795 I am clearly "doing it wrong".   Hi, I'm binding a GridView to a domain model object, this domain model object has a method for working out a formatted value to display on the grid. I'd like to use this method for my display value, which is fine, but I'd also like to be able to sort on the value returned by that method. My sort expression can only take in a property/field at the moment. Help please! What do I need to do to get this to work? • Entity Framework 4 overwrite Equals and GetHashCode of an own class property

  Hi, I’m using Visual Studio 2010 with .NET 4 and Entity Framework 4. I’m working with POCO Classes and not the EF4 Generator. I need to overwrite the Equals() and GetHashCode() Method but that doesn’t really work. Thought it’s something everybody does but I don’t find anything about the problem Online. When I write my own Classes and Equals Method, I use Equals() of property’s, witch need to be loaded by EF to be filled. Like this: public class Item { public virtual int Id { get; set; } public virtual String Name { get; set; } public virtual List<UserItem> UserItems { get; set; } public virtual ItemType ItemType { get; set; } public override bool Equals(object obj) { Item item = obj as Item; if (obj == null) { return false; } return item.Name.Equals(this.Name) && item.ItemType.Equals(this.ItemType); } public override int GetHashCode() { return this.Name.GetHashCode() ^ this.ItemType.GetHashCode(); } } That Code doesn’t work, the problems are in Equals and GetHashCode where I try to get HashCode or Equal from “ItemType” . Every time I get a NullRefernceException if I try to get data by Linq2Entites. A dirty way to fix it, is to capture the NullReferenceException and return false (by Equals) and return base.GetHashCode() (by GethashCode) but I hope there is a better way to fix this problem. • Regex to identify rows that do not contain exact number of occurences of quotemark character using Notepad++

  I would like to be able to jump to rows that dont contain 6 quotemarks in a quoted-CSV file as it feels like a good way to identify broken rows. I think using a regular expression with Notepad++'s find features would be a sensible approach but I'm not sure how to pick the rows up. 6 quotemarks (") would suggest a complete row so I want to skip to any row that does not contain 6.   As an exercise I created a small HTTP server that generates random game mechanics, similar to this one. I wrote it on a Windows 7 (32-bit) system and it works flawlessly. However, when I run it on my home machine, Windows 7 (64-bit), it always fails with the same message: exit status -1073741819. I haven't managed to find anything on the web which references that status code, so I don't know how important it is.   Hi. I have few columns in my DataGridView, one of them is an unbound column and the DataGridVIew is in VirtualMode. When CellValueNeeded event is called, I want to calculate value of Cells[0] basing on the value of Cells[2] which is in bounded column to the underlaying DataSource. This is how I try to do this: private void dgvItems_CellValueNeeded(object sender, DataGridViewCellValueEventArgs e) { e.Value = dgvItems.CurrentRow.Cells[2].Value * 5; //simplified example } However, I am getting System.StackOverflowException because it seams that call to dgvItems.CurrentRow.Cells[2].Value results in call to another CellValueNeeded event. And so on and so on... However Cells[2] is not an unbound column, so on common sense it should not result in recursive call unless getting value of any column(bound or unbound) firest that event... I can not use here SQL Expression and I can not precalculate e.Value in any SQL call. In real example Cells[2].Value is a key used in HashTable which will return a correct value for the Cells[0] (e.Value). What can I do?

• How can I capture multiple matches from the same Perl regex?

  I'm trying to parse a single string and get multiple chunks of data out from the same string with the same regex conditions. I'm parsing a single HTML doc that is static (For an undisclosed reason, I can't use an HTML parser to do the job.) I have an expression that looks like: $string =~ /\<img\ssrc\="(.*)"/; and I want to get the value of $1. However, in the one string, there are many img tags like this, so I need something like an array returned (@1?) is this possible?
