• mingw32-make : "Input line too long" issue

  We have a Makefile which runs on a Windows 2003 machine and we are using mingw32-make for it. Since the Makefile has many include paths, it exceeds the buffer size of 8K that the cmd can handle [Ref - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/830473/EN-US/due to which the compilation results in "input line too long" issue. I wanted to know the following - What would be the best way to optimize the Makefile as I have already removed unwanted compiler switches, include paths etc. Is there any way we can put all the INCLUDE paths in one .txt file and import it in the Makefile.I could not find any mingw32 documentation for the same.   Are there any open source libraries (any language, python/PHP preferred) that will tokenize/parse an ANSI SQL string into its various components? That is, if I had the following string SELECT a.foo, b.baz, a.bar FROM TABLE_A a LEFT JOIN TABLE_B b ON a.id = b.id WHERE baz = 'snafu'; I'd get back a data structure/object something like //fake PHPish $results['select-columns'] = Array[a.foo,b.baz,a.bar]; $results['tables'] = Array[TABLE_A,TABLE_B]; $results['table-aliases'] = Array[a=TABLE_A, b=TABLE_B]; //etc... Restated, I'm looking for the code in a database package that teases the SQL command apart so that the engine knows what to do with it. Searching the internet turns up a lot of results on how to parse a string WITH SQL. That's not what I want. I realize I could glop through an open source database's code to find what I want, but I was hoping for something a little more ready made, (although if you know where in the MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQLite source to look, feel free to pass it along) Thanks!

• unix at command pass variable to shell script?

  Hi, I'm trying to setup a simple timer that gets started from a Rails Application. This timer should wait out its duration and then start a shell script that will start up ./script/runner and complete the initial request. I need script/runner because I need access to ActiveRecord. Here's my test lines in Rails output = `at #{(Time.now + 60).strftime("%H:%M")} < #{Rails.root}/lib/parking_timer.sh STRING_VARIABLE` return render :text => output Then my parking_timer.sh looks like this #!/bin/sh ~/PATH_TO_APP/script/runner -e development ~/PATH_TO_APP/lib/ParkingTimer.rb $1 echo "All Done" Finally, ParkingTimer.rb reads the passed variable with ARGV.each do|a| puts "Argument: #{a}" end The problem is that the Unix command "at" doesn't seem to like variables and only wants to deal with filenames. I either get one of two errors depending on how I position "s If I put quotes around the right hand side like so ... "~/PATH_TO_APP/lib/parking_timer.sh STRING_VARIABLE" I get, -bash: ~/PATH_TO_APP/lib/parking_timer.sh STRING_VARIABLE: No such file or directory I I leave the quotes out, I get, at: garbled time This is all happening on a Mac OS 10.6 box running Rails 2.3 & Ruby 1.8.6 I've already messed around w/ BackgrounDrb, and decided its a total PITA. • Line of code doesnt follow sequential execution

  Hi, I'm having a problem with a code that doesnt follow sequential execution although I'm not using threading.   The parse_ini_file function removes comments in configuration files. What would you do to keep the comments that are associated with the next line? For example: [email] ; Verify that the email's domain has a mail exchange (MX) record. validate_domain = true Am thinking of using X(HT)ML and XSLT to transform the content into an INI file (so that the documentation and options can be single sourced). • Prevent CSS Validation for just 1 line

  I have a problem practically identical to this question, but I'm looking for a different solution. Instead of turning it off globally, I'd like to just disable it for a single line. I know I have seen many examples where various techniques are used to suppress different warnings, and I am looking for one that I can put in my CSS to suppress this one. Examples of ways to suppress warnings and such #pragma warning disable 659 or [SuppressMessage("Microsoft.Usage", "CA2214:DoNotCallOverridableMethodsInConstructors", Justification = "I have a good reason.")]. The CSS I want it to be quiet about has some CSS3 stuff in it which is why it's understandably complaining: .round { border-radius: 5px; -webkit-border-radius: 5px; -moz-border-radius: 5px; } So any idea how to make my Error 1 Validation (CSS 2.1): 'border-radius' is not a known CSS property name error go away? I'd rather not lose all of my CSS validations but I do want it to ignore this one "problem".

It runs fine from the command line and also interprets the 'cycle' argument fine. When it runs in cron it runs fine, however, the process never dies and while each process doesn't continue to cycle the system it does seem to be looping in some way due to the fact that it ups my system load very quickly. • Git : Failed at pushing to remote server, ' REPOSITORY_PATH ' is not a git command

  I'm using Git with TortoiseGit on Windows XP, and I have a remote bare repository on Windows Vista 64bit version. When I tried to push my local files to remote bare repository, I got the following error message. git.exe push "origin" master:master git: 'C:/Git_Repository/.git' is not a git command. See 'git --help'. fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly the arbitrary URL is : username@serverip:C:/Git_Repository/.git The same arbitrary URL worked just fine while doing clone/fetch/pull. Access from a local directory in remote machine to this bare repository has no problem either so I belive there is something wrong with my path. I can push/pull at GitHub correctly but I was using URL provide by GitHub. Does anyone know what's wrong with my configuration? I need to give users the ability to pick a business card template and then update the text with their own information. Then I need to create a PDF proof for the user to sign off on, as well as create a hi-rez pdf for print. Can anyone point me in the right direction? • Updating join fields in an ORM command

  I have a question about object relational updates on join fields. I am working on a project using codeigniter with datamapper dmz. But I think my problem is with general understanding of ORMs. So fell free to answer with any ORM you know. I have two tables, Goods and Tags. One good can have many tags. Everything is working, but I am looking for a way to merge tags. Meaning I decide I want to remove tag A and instead have everything that is tagged by it, now be tagged by tag B. I only have models for the goods and the tags. There is no separate model for the join relationship, as I believe these ORMs were designed to work. I know how to delete a tag. But I dont know how to reach into the join table to redirect the references since there is no model for the join table. I would rather use the ORM then issuing a raw SQL command.

• Disabling single line copy in Visual Studio

  Is there anyway to disable the rather annoying feature that Visual Studio (2008 in my case) has of copying the line (with text on it) the cursor is on when CTRL-C is pressed and no selection is made? I know of the option to disable copying blank lines. But this is driving me crazy as well. ETA: I'm not looking to customize the keyboard shortcut. ETA-II: I am NOT looking for "Tools-Options-Text Editor-All Languages-Apply cut or copy to blank lines...".

• Emulating Visual Studio's Web Application "publish" at the command line

  Hi, I am trying to automate my deployment process and am now thoroughly confused. I know that there are many questions on stackoverflow about this, but they all have different solutions and none of them work. I have a Web Application project which I usually publish by right-clicking and selecting "Publish". I get a dialog box where I use the following options: Build configuration: Release Publish method: File system Target location: C:\Deployments\MyWebsite Replace matching files with local copies I should mention that in the properties of the project I have "Items to deploy" set to "Only files needed to run this application". After running this, my entire solution is built, dependencies are resolved, build events are run, web.config transformations are applied and the website is copied to C:\Deployments\MyWebsite, although non-required files such as code-behind files are not copied. I have not been able to replicate this... in fact at this stage I'm not even sure which command line tool am I supposed to be using - msbuild, msdeploy or aspnet_compiler? This guy asks almost the same question but his solution doesn't work at all. For example, build events do not run correctly because the macros are not resolved. Whats more, the files do not get copied into the correct directory at all... I can't even begin to explain what happens!

• Dual-line bilingual paragraph in LaTeX

  An interlinear gloss can be used to layout a translation of a document. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interlinear_gloss Usually this is done word-by-word or morpheme-by-morpheme. However, I would like to do this in a different way, translating entire paragraphs at a time. http://www.optimnem.co.uk/learning/spanish/three-little-pigs.php For now I am not interested in taking into account the order of words or phrases that change order between languages. That is, I don't mind if the words in the paragraph are not aligned or if the length of one paragraph is much longer than the other, causing an overhanging line. As far as I can tell, the following packages do not meet my needs: covingtn.sty cgloss4e.sty gb4e.sty lingmacros.sty - shortex
