  • How to merge or copy anonymous session data into user data when user logs in?

    This is a general question, or perhaps a request for pointers to other open source projects to look at: I'm wondering how people merge an anonymous user's session data into the authenticated user data when a user logs in. For example, someone is browsing around your websites saving various items as favourites. He's not logged in, so they're saved to an anonymous user's data. Then he logs in, and we need to merge all that data into their (possibly existing) user data. Is this done different ways in an ad-hoc fashion for different applications? Or are there some best practices or other projects people can direct me to?

  • WCF server component getting outdated user name

    I am overriding System.IdentityModel.Policy.IAuthorizationPolicy.Evaluate as follows: public bool Evaluate(EvaluationContext evaluationContext,ref object state) { var ids = (IList<IIdentity>)evaluationContext.Properties["Identities"]; var userName = ids[0].Name; // look up "userName" in a database to check for app. permissions } Recently one of the users had her user name changed in Active Directory. She is able to login to her Windows box fine with her new user name, but when she tries to run the client side of our application, the server gets her old user name in the "userName" variable in the code above, which messes up our authentication (since her old user name is no longer in our database). Another piece of info: This only happens when she connects to the server code on the Production server. We have the same server code running on a QA server, and it does not have this issue (the QA server code gets her correct (new) user name) Any ideas what could be going on?

  • LoadViewState not fired on my user control

    I have a user control nested in a repeater. Inside my user control I have another repeater and in that I have a panel. I am trying to override the LoadViewState event of my user control and dynamically add controls to the panel. I want to do it in the LoadViewState so that the dynamic controls get added before the viewstate gets loaded, so they retain their values after post backs. For some reason the LoadViewState event on the user control (ascx) is not firing. Is there some way to force it to fire, or is there another method I could use? I have ruled out the user controls repeater databind event, because I need it to work even if data binding isn't happening and I can't do it on the repeaters item created event either because the child panel and inner html doesn't exist yet.

    I'm having difficulties scrapping dynamically generated table in ASPX. Trying to scrap the gas prices from a site like these GasPrices. I can extract all the information in the gas price table (address, time submitted etc.), except for the actual gas price. Is there a way I could scrap the gas prices? i.e. somehow get a text representation of it. I'm not very familiar with ASP/ASPX - but what's being generated now is not showing up in the final HTML. I'm using Python to do the scrapping, but that's irrelevant unless there's a specific library...

  • C# Looping A Process Over And Over Until A User Presses A Key

    I have a schedule checker that needs to run until a user presses a key to make it stop. My thoughts on doing this are as follows: The user starts the process Process runs every 10 seconds When the process is not running, Console.ReadLine(); gives the user the option to press "q" to stop the process My approach would work fine except the user would have to wait however long the process takes to complete before being able to stop it. Is there any way to simultaneously run the process while being able to take a user input?

I am building out an application in GAE and need to generate a report that contains the values for a user-defined subset of fields. For example, in my db model, CrashReport, I have the following fields: entry_type entry_date instance_id build_id crash_text machine_info I present a user with the above list as a checkbox group from which they select. Whichever fields the user selects, I then create a report showing all the values in the datastore, but only for the fields that they selected. For example, if from the above list, the user selects the build_id and crash_text fields, the output might look like this: build_id crash_text 0.8.2 blown gasket 0.8.2 boom! 0.8.1 crack! ... So the question is, how exactly do I only access the values for the fields which the user has defined?

    Hi All, Was wondering if anyone had any smart approaches to creating dynamic vanity user urls upon user registration. My site basically uses emails as usernames. I have the regex to strip the text before the "@" symbol (e.g. "[email protected]" becomes "name") I would then like to take the "name" and create a vanity url (e.g. domain.com/name or name.domain.com) Any thoughts on how to accomplish this with Wordpress? I'm a pretty advanced Wordpress user and my first thoughts were to do the following Verify user registration Upon successful user registration create page name with username as the title (this would help me achieve the www.domain.com/username) Apply preset template to that page with the desired view Any and all thoughts are welcome.

    Hi, I'm currently developing a user facing web application that gives each new user their own subdomain on the site, which is fine (using subdomain_fu), but is there a way to let a user map their own domain to this subdomain? I know how to do this manually through SSH-ing into the server and editing the Apache Vhosts file by hand, but is there a way to do this automatically so that a user simply enters their domain into a box on the site (obviously they'd have to change their own DNS elsewhere)? I'm using Ruby 1.8 and Rails 2.3.3 on top of Apache. Essentially letting; http://user.application.com/article-1 be accessed from http://userdomain.com/article-1 Thanks for any help!

    I am trying to send a multi part formdata post through my java code. Can someone tell me how to set Content Length in the following?? There seem to be headers involved when we use InputStreamBody which implements the ContentDescriptor interface. Doing a getContentLength on the InputStreamBody gives me -1 after i add the content. I subclassed it to give contentLength the length of my byte array but am not sure if other headers required by ContentDescriptor will be set for a proper POST.   • Want to 'sandbox' user form submitted HTML

    Hi all. I have a user form with a textarea that allows users to submit html formatted data. The html itself is limited by PHP strip_tags, but of course that does no completion checking etc. My basic problem is that should a user leave a tag unclosed, such as the tag, then all the content following that, including page content that follows that is 'outside' the user content display area, could now be malformed. Checking for proper tag completion is one solution I will look at, but ideally I'd like to firewall the user htmlified content away from the rest of the site somehow. Any suggestions on the best approach? Thanks!

This significant release allowed the Oracle Applications User Experience (UX) team to finally talk freely about Simplified UI, a user experience project in the works since Oracle OpenWorld 2012. Simplified UI represents the direction that the Oracle user experience – for all of its enterprise applications – is heading. Oracle’s Apps UX team began by building a Simplified UI for sales representatives. You can find that today in Release 7, and it was demoed extensively during OpenWorld 2013 in San Francisco. This screenshot shows how Opportunities appear in the new Simplified UI for Oracle Sales Cloud, a user interface built for sales reps.Analyst Rebecca Wettemann, vice president of Nucleus Research, saw Simplified UI at Oracle Openworld 2013 and talked about it with CRM Buyer in “Oracle Revs Its Cloud Engines for a Better Customer Experience.” Wettemann said there are distinct themes to the latest release: "One is usability. Oracle Sales Cloud, for example, is designed to have zero training for onboarding sales reps, which it does," she explained. "It is quite impressive, actually -- the intuitive nature of the application and the design work they have done with this goal in mind."The software uses as few buttons and fields as possible, she pointed out. Oracle wants to automate this process for the salesperson, and enable that person to keep everyone who needs to know up-to-date easily and quickly. Simplified UI addresses that problem by providing light-touch input.  “It has to be useful to the salesperson,” Ashley said about the Sales Cloud user experience. Simplified UI can tell sales reps about key opportunities, or provide information about a contact in just a click or two. Customer information is accessible quickly and easily with Simplified UI for the Oracle Sales Cloud.Simplified UI for Sales Cloud can also be extended easily, Ashley said. Users usually just need to add various business fields or create and modify analytical reports. I have installed LAMP server via tasksel command and I have configured the /var/www directory according to a guide I've found: After the lamp server installation you will need write permissions to the /var/www directory. Follow these steps to configure permissions. The thing with this is that I will be working on a plugin for wordpress and I don't want to deal with separate owners under www directory to create or modify files/folders. When I give my user the ownership of /var/www recursively as logan:www-data I can create/modify files but cannot view the http://localhost. I get a Forbidden error. I'm assuming that this is because of the Apache's configuration? Which one is healthier or easier considering this is just a local test website, configuring apache to give user logan to view website and chmod /var/www logan:logan so that I can create files etc. without any sudo commands; or is it easier to configure user groups to get www-data user to act like my logan user? (Idk how that's possible, maybe putting www-data user under logan group?) Please shed some light to this subject. All I want is to be able to create/modifiy files under my user, and yet to be able to successfully view http://localhost I appreciate the help!

    ServerFault Windows experts: please consider the following use case: I have 2 Windows 2008 Server SP2 boxes let’s call them – SOURCE, CLIENT. On SOURCE: I create a new user called 'normal'. Just a plain user - no special privileges. On CLIENT: I run the following from a command prompt winrm get wmi/root/cimv2/Win32_UTCTime -r:SOURCE -u:normal -p:NormalPassword I get an output containing WSManFault: Message = Access is denied. On CLIENT: I repeat step 3 with the administrator identity, i.e. winrm get wmi/root/cimv2/Win32_UTCTime -r:SOURCE -u:Administrator -p:AdminPassword I get the current UTC time at SOURCE. The question is, what are the least privileges I need to assign to the user 'normal' to ensure that Step 3 behaves like Step 5. In other words, what's the least privilege to enable WinRM access for a non-Admin account?

  • TortoiseSVN overlay icons do not appear when installed by a different user account?

    I've installed TortoiseSVN on my work Windows XP machine as the administrator. When I login in as a standard user my working copies do not display the overlay icons in Windows Explorer. I found this on TortoiseSVN's support pages: Did you install TortoiseSVN as a different user under WinNT/Win2K/WinXP than you are using now? Go to the settings of TSVN and activate the icon overlays for at least the fixed drives. The installer does this automatically for the current user (can't do it for other users...) but since you are using TSVN as a different user than you installed it you need to set this manually. http://tortoisesvn.net/node/97 I've checked the settings for overlay icons for the current user and the options Local and Network drives are checked. I've tried even toggling them off, applying, then on again and applying, then restarting but they still don't appear. I'm unable to install TortoiseSVN on the current user hence why I logged into the admin account. Any ideas?

  • BAD DC transfering FSMO Roles to ADC

    I have a DC (FQDN:server.icmcpk.local) and an ADC (FQDN:file-server.icmcpk.local). Recently my DC is facing a bad sector problem so I changed the Operation Masters to file-server for all five roles. but when ever i turn off the OLD DC the file-server also stops wroking with AD and GPMC further i m also unable to join any other computer to this domain. For Test purpose i also added a new ADC (FQDN:wds-server.icmcpk.local) but no succes with the old DC off i had to turn the old DC on and then joined it. I m attaching the Dcdiags for all three servers.
