    Are there any downsides to UPX-ing my 32-bit Python 2.6.4 development environment EXE/PYD/DLL files? The reason I'm asking is that I frequently use a custom PY2EXE script that UPX's copies of these files on every build. Yes, I could get fancy and try to cache UPXed files, but I think a simpler, safer, and higher performance solution would be for me to just UPX my Python 2.6.4 directory once and be done with it.     I am using mmap call to read from a very big file using simple pointer arithmetic in C++. The problem is that when I read small chunks of data (in the order of KBs) multiple times, each read take the same amount of time as the previous one. How can I know if the disk is being accessed to fulfill my request or whether the request is being fulfilled from main memory (page cache) in calls after the first one.

    I've been doing web development for a while and have yet to read a good answer to this question: Given a page that executes transactions through a postback, how do you prevent the user from duplicating the transaction when they do something as simple as hit the back button? I've explored trying expire the cache but I must admit I'm lacking in my understanding of ASP.NET caching. What is the approach I should use to make the old request stale and invalid? Thanks!

This content type is also bound to a module, but this module doesn't have any admin screens, all node creation is done through the standard cck interface. any ideas? In the constructor of the handler I generate an index that remains fairly static between request (needs to be rebuilt maybe once a day). How can I cache the the index between calls? Debugging indicates that the constructor is called for each request. I've set IsReusable to "false".

  • How to import RoR project to Netbeans

    I have very simple (in fact empty ) project which i have created by rails new MyProject command from command-line. So, i want to import it to NetBeans IDE. I click "new project" - "RoR" - "from existing source", select Ruby 1.9.2 (instead of embedded JRuby) in the wizard form. After that i have got errors [see the picture below]: So.. i click OK.   • Multiuser XML document "database" for asp.net app

    I was thinking about a way to allow multiple users to get CRUD access to an XML document in an asp.net app. The operations would obviously have to be made under the assumption of a multithreaded environment. For perf reasons, would it make sense to cache the document, and use a mutex on that cached version? When would changes be flushed to the physical XML document? Any and all recommendations are appreciated (also "use a database" isn't an option at this point unfortunately)

    I'm using ASIHttpRequests and an ASINetworkQueue in an iphone app to retrieve some 100k XML files and a lot of thumbnails from a web service. I'd like to cache the requests in the style of NSURLCache. ASI doesn't seem to support caching as is, and I looked at the code and it drops to C to create the requests, so inserting the NSURLCache layer seemed tricky. What's the best way to implement this?

    Hello! I'm writing python program to build mac-address cache using pcap. But pcap module for python has no good documentation. I have found this page http://pylibpcap.sourceforge.net/ with code example and it works fine. Can anybody modify this example to make it able to show the source mac-address for each packet? Or point me to the documentation where I can read about it ...

  • OPS4j repository alternative

    The OPS4J repository is down at present and I am trying to run pax-provision using a profile for spring-dm. My question is how do I tell maven to locate the profile information from a site other than ops4j.org. Is this possible? ideally I would like to cache all the packages from the repo especially the spring-dm details which seem never to be cached and are downloaded all the time making coding on the train and times when the site is down impossible.
