  • Javascript XMLHttpRequests in Loop?

    - by usurper
    Hi, I am trying to save an array of records into a mysql database but I always get the abort message in firebug except for the last save. How do I save the records using a loop for XMLHttpRequest? Here is my code: function savingContent() { if (window.XMLHttpRequest) {// code for IE7+, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari xmlhttp=new XMLHttpRequest(); } else {// code for IE6, IE5 xmlhttp=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } var rowindex = 0; for (x in globalObj.AddedRows) { var rowData = "?q=" + globalObj.AddedRows[rowindex]; xmlhttp.open("POST", "insertRowData.php"+rowData, true); xmlhttp.setRequestHeader("Content-Type","application/x-www-form-urlencoded"); xmlhttp.setRequestHeader("Content-Length",rowData.length); xmlhttp.send(null); rowindex += 1; }

  • accessing id property via javascript

    - by webzide
    Dear experts Is there a way to access the ID of an dom element? I don't mean using the getElementById attribute to find out a array of objects. Bascially I already know the DOM element and that object reference is at hand. All I need is to access the ID property. I know something like if(element.id==value) won't work. Thanks in advance.

  • Returning a private variable in JavaScript

    - by enrmarc
    I don't know why console.log(Set.current_index) shows 0 instead of 3. var Set = (function() { var set = []; var index = 0; function contains(set, e) { for (var i = 0; i < set.length; i++) { if (set[i] === e) { return true; } } return false; } var add = function(e) { if (!contains(set, e)) { set[index++] = e; } } var show = function() { for (var i = 0; i < set.length; i++) { console.log(set[i]); } } return { add: add, show: show, current_index: index }; })();? Set.add(20); Set.add(30); Set.add(40); Set.show(); console.log(Set.current_index);

  • Javascript string.replace with regex

    - by Jimbo
    I want to replace a url querystring parameter with a new value if it already exists or add it on if not. e.g. The current url could be: a. www.mysite.com/whatever.asp?page=5&version=1 OR b. www.mysite.com/whatever.asp?version=1 I need the resulting url to be www.mysite.com/whatever.asp?page=1&version=1 I suspect I can use string.replace with a regex to do this the most intelligent way but am hoping for a little help with it from someone more experienced with regexs :) Thanks!

  • Dynamically Changing an img tag's onemouseover attribute with Javascript nulls it instead

    - by ?s?zs?
    I want to create an img that has four different states: State 1 over State 1 out State 2 over State 2 out Each state is a different image, and the user can toggle between states 1 and 2 by clicking on the image. To do this I change the src when the image is clicked and the onmouseover and onmouseout attributes of the img element. However when the attributes have been changed they become nulled and do nothing. How can I dynamically change these properties? Here is the code I am using: <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <script> function change() { document.getElementById('image').src="http://youtube.thegoblin.net/layoutFix/hideplaylist.png"; document.getElementById('image').onmouseover="this.src='http://youtube.thegoblin.net/layoutFix/hideplaylistDark.png'"; document.getElementById('image').onmouseout="this.src='http://youtube.thegoblin.net/layoutFix/hideplaylist.png'"; } </script> </head> <body> <img id="image" src="http://youtube.thegoblin.net/layoutFix/showplaylist.png" onmouseover="this.src='http://youtube.thegoblin.net/layoutFix/showplaylistDark.png'" onmouseout="this.src='http://youtube.thegoblin.net/layoutFix/showplaylist.png'" onClick="change()"> </body> </html>

  • Javascript Replace Child/Loop issue

    - by Charles John Thompson III
    I have this really bizarre issue where I have a forloop that is supposed to replace all divs with the class of "original" to text inputs with a class of "new". When I run the loop, it only replaces every-other div with an input, but if I run the loop to just replace the class of the div and not change the tag to input, it does every single div, and doesn't only do every-other. Here is my loop code, and a link to the live version: live version here function divChange() { var divs = document.getElementsByTagName("div"); for (var i=0; i<divs.length; i++) { if (divs[i].className == 'original') { var textInput = document.createElement('input'); textInput.className = 'new'; textInput.type = 'text'; textInput.value = divs[i].innerHTML; var parent = divs[i].parentNode; parent.replaceChild(textInput, divs[i]); } } }

  • What is the proper way to wrap this php loop around the javascript

    - by zac
    Hi, I am mashing together the Google Maps 2 script with a Wordpress loop so there is a CMS platform for the map data. I have this working fine : var point = new GLatLng(48.5139,-123.150531); var marker = createMarker(point,"Lime Kiln State Park", '<?php $post_id = 182; $my_post = get_post($post_id); $mapTitle = $my_post->post_title; $mapIMG = get_post_meta($post_id, 'mapImage', true); $snip = get_post_meta($post_id, 'mapExcerpt', true); echo "<div class=\"span-12\">"; echo "<div class=\"mapTitle\">"; echo $mapTitle; echo "</div>"; echo "<img class=\"mapImage\" src=\""; echo bloginfo('url'); echo "/wp-content/files_mf/"; echo $mapIMG; echo "\" /> "; echo "<div class=\"mapContent\">"; echo $snip; echo "</div>"; echo "<div class=\"moreLink\">"; echo "<a href=\""; echo $permalink = get_permalink( $post_id ); echo "\">Find out more &raquo; </a>"; echo "</div>"; echo "</div>"; ?>') map.addOverlay(marker); However I am hoping to also be able to include the two variables at the start within the php loop so that both of those can also be generated by custom fields. Can someone please show me that the proper way to write this would be so that all of the data can be pulled in from fields within that post id? So the lat/long and title could also be set from within the post 182 fields.

  • Firing a Keyboard Event at the Body - JavaScript (?)

    - by user317985
    I've done a lot of research on this but have come up empty handed. What I would like to do is invoke or create an event for the right arrow key (Key Code 39). I was planning on using an onclick event inside an tag to go to a function where this event could be 'fired'. Any help would be appreciated. If anyone needs context, I have a jQuery content slider that's functionality is very hard to alter and currently the functionality I need to emulate only occurs when a user hits the right arrow on their keyboard. What I would like to do is tie an onclick() event to a image that when clicked on fires the right keyboard event and the content will slide. Please let me know if I can provide further details or explanation. My working demo for this is: http://greenplanet3d.com

  • javascript inserting html code

    - by Marius
    Hello, I have a situation when there's a table and you can add a new row by clicking a button. The row is dynamically generated by a server and it is passed back in HTML. So basically what i need to do is prefix the new row to the old table. Something like this: tableelement.innerHTML = newHtml + tableelement.innerHTML; That surely works, but i have a table header and, obviously, i need to insert the new html after it. How would i do this? insertBefore or insertAfter can't help (afaik), because they're meant for inserting elements and not unparsed HTML. So how could i, having an object of the header's row, insert another row (in HTML) after it (or before) ? Thank you for your ideas

  • How to enable 'wget' to download the whole content of HTML with Javascript

    - by neversaint
    I have a site which I want to download using Unix wget. If you look at the source code and content of the file it contain section called SUMMARY. However after issuing a wget command like this: wget -O downdloadedtext.txt http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/IEB/Research/Acembly/av.cgi?db=mouse&c=gene&a=fiche&l=2610008E11Rik The content of the downdloadedtext.txt is incomplete and different with the source code of that site. For example it doesn't contain SUMMARY section. Is there a correct way to obtain the full content correctly? The reason I ask this because I want to automate the download from different values in that HTML.

  • How to facebook getuser() after login with javascript SDK

    - by user1848205
    So I have to ask for extended permission by clicking the enter button, but after the login is necessary to refresh the page in order to display the app. Here's my code: <?php require 'facebook.php'; $facebook = new Facebook(array( 'appId' => '< THE APPID >', 'secret' => '< THE SECRET >', 'cookie' => true, )); $user = $facebook->getUser(); if ($user) { try { $user_profile = $facebook->api('/me'); } catch (FacebookApiException $e) { error_log($e); $user = null; } } ?> <body> <div id="fb-root"></div> <script> window.fbAsyncInit = function() { FB.init({ appId : '< THE APPID >', status : true, cookie : true, xfbml : true }); // Additional initialization code such as adding Event Listeners goes here $('#btn-enter').click(function(){ login(); }); }; (function(d){ var js, id = 'facebook-jssdk', ref = d.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) {return;} js = d.createElement('script'); js.id = id; js.async = true; js.src = "//connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js"; ref.parentNode.insertBefore(js, ref); }(document)); function login() { FB.login(function(response) { if (response.authResponse) { // connected } else { // cancelled } //}); }, {scope: 'read_friendlists,friends_photos,publish_stream'}); } </script> <?php if ($user): ?> <!--Here is my APP--> <?php else: ?> <a id="btn-enter">Enter</a> <?php endif ?> Is there a better way to do this ? What works for me is: function login() { FB.login(function(response) { if (response.authResponse) { top.location.href='https://the_app_url'; } else { } //}); }, {scope: 'read_friendlists,friends_photos,publish_stream'}); } But this causes the entire page to refresh and is not 'elegant' per se...

  • How to handle ctrl+arrow in Javascript?

    - by MartyIX
    I've noticed an problem when trying to catch keyboard shortcut: CTRL+an arrow. I've handled keydown event. Now when I hold CTRL key then keydown event is fired once. If I hold an arrow (so that now I'm holding CTRL+an arrow) it doesn't fire another event. Is it forbidden from any reason? I guess I've already encountered this problem in Opera a few years ago and there was an option for it in browser. My results: holding CTRL, press an arrow -- fires event for CTRL and doesn't fire an event for an arrow press CTRL + an arrow at once -- fires one event but only with keycode of CTRL. holding CTRL, press a letter (eg. S) -- works as expected press CTRL + letter (eg. S) -- works as expected (Results are identical in Chrome and Firefox. Is the behaviour described above a standard?) I'm using: function OnKeyDown(e) { } e.ctrlKey, e.which properties of event The question is: what might be the problem?

  • odd behavior setting timeouts inside a function with global references in javascript

    - by Pablo
    Here is the the function and the globals: $note_instance = Array(); $note_count = 0; function create(text){ count = $note_count++; time = 5000; $note_instance[count] = $notifications.notify("create", text); setTimeout(function(){ $note_instance[count].close() }, time); } The function simply opens a notification, a sets a timeout to close it in 5 seconds. so if i call this create("Good Note 1"); create("Good Note 2"); create("Good Note 3"); Ecah note should close 5 seconds from their creation, however always and only the last note closes, in this case "Good Note 3". Each note object has its own entry in the the $note_instance global array so the timeouts should no be overwriting themselves. What am i missing here folks? Thanks in advance

  • CSS/Javascript: multiple columns

    - by Patrick
    hi, I'm looking for a columnizer plugin (making columns of my small divs). It is very important it has the following features: 1) It has to be as light as possible (if it is only css would be great, but I guess it is difficult make it work on IE then...) 2) It has to be cross-browser (I don't need IE6... IE7 and IE8 compatibility is required). 3) The divs has not to be broken. In other terms, the nodes have to be moved to next block but not splitted in 2. The nodes are div elements, they might include other divs, images and text. 4) The column have to have a fixed width and fixed margin. This means that when I resize the browser, and new columns are created (become the window becomes wider), the new columns have to rigidly keep the same width and distance between them. (margin:20px) (width:200px) Would be great to have some css.. but I'm afraid I need some jQuery plugin because I need all 4 features being supported. I found several plugins and css styleshits with very good solutions, but I couldn't find a complete one. Thanks

  • Write a row to Google Spreadsheet programmically javascript

    - by Verber
    I'm trying to find a way to insert a row into a google spreadsheet dynamically. I have a list of objects that has all the data for every column in a row. I'm just trying to run a for loop and then send the data to the row in the spread sheet. But the spreadsheet is completely empty. So I don't know if that creates certain problems or not. for(var j=0; j < masterList.length; j++) { //tried this one but it didn't pan out sheet.appendRow([ masterList[j].Date, masterList[j].Name, masterList[j].Bugs, masterList[j].Enhancements, masterList[j].Epic, masterList[j].DevOps, masterList[j].High ]); }
