  • Javascript string.replace with regex

    I want to replace a url querystring parameter with a new value if it already exists or add it on if not. e.g. The current url could be: a. www.mysite.com/whatever.asp?page=5&version=1 OR b. www.mysite.com/whatever.asp?version=1 I need the resulting url to be www.mysite.com/whatever.asp?page=1&version=1 I suspect I can use string.replace with a regex to do this the most intelligent way but am hoping for a little help with it from someone more experienced with regexs :) Thanks!

Is I'm wrong in the way I returning?

  • javascript location.hash refreshing in IE

    I need to modify the hash, remove it after certain processing takes place so that if the user refreshes they do not cause the process to run again. This works fine in FF, but it seems that IE is reloading every time I try to change the hash. I think it is related to other things that are loading on the page, though I am not certain. I have an iframe that loads (related to the process) as well as some scripts that are still being fetched in the parent window. I can't seem to figure out a good way to change the hash after all the loading completes. And, at the same time am not even positive that it is related to the loading. Any ideas on how to solve this?

    to read a child node content i use : MYDATA = xhr.responseXML.getElementsByTagName("MenuItem") [INDEX].getElementsByTagName("PageContent")[0].childNodes[0].nodeValue; sometimes when the childnode data contains an HTML tag (eg b or br tags, because they have the <), i have problems since they are counted like xml tags (like childnodes). my question is how to get the entire data from a child node even if it contains other html tags exp : MenuItem MenuText menu b text b MenuText MenuItem would return "menu" !!! but i want it to return :"menu text" thank you guys, and happy new year

    I need to do some functions on some text field contents before submitting the form, like checking the validity of the customer registeration code, having the customer name as his code in customers table appending an incrementing number. I don't want to do it after the form is submitted becuase I need it to be displayed in the code field before submitting the form.   • Write a serverside c++/openGL App, that is accessible via JavaScript

    Hi, I am currently having an idea where I want to save an image from a c++/openGL application on demand from a browser. So basically I would like to run the application itself on the server and have a simple communication layer like this: JS - tell application to do calculations (and maybe pass a string or some simple data) application - tell JS when finished and maybe send a link, text or something as simple as that. I don't really have alot of experience with webservers and as such don't know if that is possible at all (it's just my naive thinking). And note: I am not talking about a webGL application, I just want to have simple communication between a c++ serverside application, and the user. Any ideas how to do that? Thanks alot!

I want to extract out each line and put the text values in a variable for each type. Not sure what would be the best way to do it.   • Asynchronous javascript issue

    I am trying to create a function which takes values from various html elements of the page to create a string and pass on to a variable. now this works great for all browsers except IE 8 and 9.     I'm writing a Firefox addon that is triggered whenever a word is highlighted. However I need a script that detects when a word is highlighted, and I'm stuck. An example would be nytimes.com (when you're reading an article and you highlight a word, the reference icon pops up). However the nytimes.com script is super complex. I'm 16 and not much of a programmer, so that is definitely way out of my league.

In order to make function calls to our back-end php code we've implemented something called an ActionProxy like this: function ActionProxy(action, input, callback){ $.post("ActionProxy.php?method="+action, { data: input}, function(data, textStatus, XMLHttpRequest){ //return data.ResponseWhatever } }); The problem we're having is that using data outside the ActionProxy is impossible due to variable scope limitations (we assume), setting var res = data.ResponseWhatever or return data.ResponseWhatever is pretty futile. How would one handle these responses most appropriately so that functions calling the actionproxy can access the response values?

    Is there a way to figure out what the top domain for the hostname of the current page is? The problem I have is that the script could be on .com domain, or in an international domain like .co.uk So for: jobs.telegraph.co.uk - top domain is:telegraph.co.uk jobs.nytimes.com - top domain is nytimes.com The problem is that location.hostname , and the document.domain give the entire domain. One route is to have a list of all TLDs (too much to carry around) and parse based on that. Another route was if 2 characters after last ".", than internationaltion - hence last two are the TLD, but that does not hold true for all international domains.

  • Resizing iframe height using javascript issue

    I have an iframe which content is a php-file, and that php-file displays some mysql records. The more records, the larger the iframe height should get, otherwise it wont show all of the information in the iframe. Here is a code I have for dynamically setting the iframe height, from the iframes content (the php file): var x = document.body.scrollHeight; x = x + 20 + 'px'; window.parent.document.getElementById("iframe001").style.height=x; iframe001 is the iframe I am referring to above. I am adding 20px of height extra because of borders etc... Now, sometimes this resizing works, sometimes it doesn't. Does anybody know why it works sometimes. If I alert the 'x' variable, it shows different values sometimes, but most times it works. Any other ways you know of setting the iframes height from the content of the iframe? Thanks
