  • How to get the action from the HttpServlet request to dispatch to multiple pages

    - by JFB
    I am using the Page Controller pattern. How could I use the same controller for two different pages by detecting the request action and then dispatching according to the result? Here is my code: account.jsp <form name="input" action="<%=request.getContextPath() %>/edit" method="get"> <input type="submit" value="Modifier" /> </form> Account Servlet public void doGet(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) throws ServletException, IOException { System.out.println("received HTTP GET"); String action = request.getParameter("action"); if (action == null) { // the account page dispatch(request, response, "/account"); } else if (action == "/edit") { // the popup edit page dispatch(request, response, "/edit"); } protected void dispatch(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response, String page) throws javax.servlet.ServletException, java.io.IOException { RequestDispatcher dispatcher = getServletContext() .getRequestDispatcher(page); dispatcher.forward(request, response); } }

  • Passing ViewData to PartialView returned from using Html.Action

    - by RWGodfrey
    I want to embed a partial view in an ASP.NET MVC page by returning it from an action method. In my base view, I would have: <%= Html.Action("MyPartialViewAction") %> My controller would have an action method like: [ChildActionOnly] public ActionResult MyPartialViewAction() { return PartialView("MyPartialView"); } I expected the returned partial view (MyPartialView) to have access to the ViewData that was set in the base page's controller action but that doesn't appear to be the case. If I insert the partial view by using the following in my base view it works: <% Html.RenderPartial("MyPartialView") %> I don't want to do that though because I want my "MyPartialViewAction" to execute logic to determine WHICH partial view to return.

  • Does anybody have practice in programming PCMEF - architectures?

    - by Erkki
    PCMEF is an architecture style presented in the book Practical Software Engineering by Maciaszek and Liong. The layers are: P: Presentation C: Controller M: Mediator E: Entity F: Foundation. It is some kind of enchancement compared with MVC - architecture. I recommend it to interactice, data and communicating - oriented purposes. I have programmed it using Visual Prolog. Foundation in my applications is the data model (domains) for the application. PCMEF is like a simulated computer: Presentation is the display, Controller the user interface and event handling, Mediator the internal logic and data highway. Entity is the database or external interfaces and F defines the knowledge. This is a really nice small architecture. Does any other have experiance of it?

  • Inconsistent Routing Results in MVC

    - by HapiDjus
    Seems I'm still missing something to the MVC routing concept. I have a route that follows nearly the same pattern as another route in an area but for what ever reason I get a 404 every time I attempt to run it. I've tried to use Phil Haack's Route Tester DLL and according to that it hits the correct route (matched route comes out to common/itemhistory/{contentid}). When I try to run it for real, it blows up. I'm trying to map a call to a JsonResult by passing a Guid. I've had success with other routes working fine (common is an area in my site). What could I be doing wrong? context.MapRoute( "ItemHistory", "common/itemhistory/{contentid}", new { controller = "common", action = "GetItemHistory" }, new { contentid = @"^(\{){0,1}[0-9a-fA-F]{8}\-[0-9a-fA-F]{4}\-[0-9a-fA-F]{4}\-[0-9a-fA-F]{4}\-[0-9a-fA-F]{12}(\}){0,1}$" } ); context.MapRoute( "Common_default", "common/{action}", new { controller="common", action = "Index" } );

  • Best practices for multiple asserts on same result in C#

    - by asdseee
    What do you think is cleanest way of doing multiple asserts on a result? In the past I've put them all the same test but this is starting to feel a little dirty, I've just been playing with another idea using setup. [TestFixture] public class GridControllerTests { protected readonly string RequestedViewId = "A1"; protected GridViewModel Result { get; set;} [TestFixtureSetUp] public void Get_UsingStaticSettings_Assign() { var dataRepository = new XmlRepository("test.xml"); var settingsRepository = new StaticViewSettingsRepository(); var controller = new GridController(dataRepository, settingsRepository); this.Result = controller.Get(RequestedViewId); } [Test] public void Get_UsingStaticSettings_NotNull() { Assert.That(this.Result,Is.Not.Null); } [Test] public void Get_UsingStaticSettings_HasData() { Assert.That(this.Result.Data,Is.Not.Null); Assert.That(this.Result.Data.Count,Is.GreaterThan(0)); } [Test] public void Get_UsingStaticSettings_IdMatches() { Assert.That(this.Result.State.ViewId,Is.EqualTo(RequestedViewId)); } [Test] public void Get_UsingStaticSettings_FirstTimePageIsOne() { Assert.That(this.Result.State.CurrentPage, Is.EqualTo(1)); } }

  • why is link generated in YUI javascript failing to render in rails?

    - by pmneve
    Using YAHOO.widget.treeview to generate a table with three levels of data: module, submodule, and detail. If there is an image associated with a detail row the javascript generates a link: "<td><a href=\"/screenshot/show/" + rowData.id + "\">Screenshot</a></td>" that is appended to the html for the row. The url is generated correctly and the link appears. When clicked nothing happens except the word 'Done' appears in the browser status bar. Am calling the very same url from another page that does not use javascript and the screenshot page appears as expected. Here is the controller. class ScreenshotController < ApplicationController def show if @detail.screen_path.length 1 @imagePath = "#{RAILS_ROOT}" + "/private/#{Company.find(@detail.company_id).subdir}/" + "#{Project.find(@detail.project_id).subdir}/screenshot/" + "#{@detail.screen_path}" send_file ( @imagePath, :type = 'image/jpeg', :disposition = 'inline') end end end A sample url: http://localhost:3004/screenshot/show/20854 This code from show.html.erb belonging to the detail model works: <%= link_to 'View', :controller = 'screenshot', :id = @detail.id, :action = 'show' % Any ideas???

  • image is not getting loaded in view.

    - by anurag
    I have created 2 views named "FirstView" and "SecondView".SecondView's nib file has an UIImage view object as its IBOtlet.Now I am getting an UIImage object from some FirstViewController's method.Now I am setting the SecondViewController's imageView property with that image and then I am pushing my SecondView Controller's object in Navigation Controller.The SecondView gets loaded but that image is not shown in that view. The code is as follows:..... (void)imagePickerController:(UIImagePickerController *)picker didFinishPickingImage:(UIImage *)img editingInfo:(NSDictionary *)editInfo { [[picker parentViewController] dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES]; SecondViewController *secondView=[[SecondViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"SecondViewController" bundle:[NSBundle mainBundle]]; secondView.imageView.image=img; [self.navigationController pushViewController:secondView animated:YES]; }

  • What is your prefered way to return XML from an ActionMethod in Asp.net MVC?

    - by serbrech
    I am displaying charts that load the data asynchronously because the searches are the work to fetch the data is quite heavy. The data has to be return as XML to make the chart library happy. My ActionMethods return a ContentResult with the type set as text/xml. I build my Xml using Linq to XML and call ToString. This works fine but it's not ideal to test. I have another idea to achieve this which would be to return a view that builds my XML using the XSLT View engine. I am curious and I always try to do the things "the right way". So how are you guys handling such scenarios? Do you implement a different ViewEngine (like xslt) to build your XML or do you Build your XML inside your controller (Or the service that serves your controller)?

  • How to update content of one ArrayController from the selected value of another ArrayController in Ember.js

    - by CodeHugger
    I have the following problem in ember.js. A child controller depends on a selected value in a parent controller in order to determine its content. In the database a child has a parent_id reference. App.parentsController = Em.ArrayController.create({ content: [], selected: null }); App.sonsController = Em.ArrayController.create({ // the value of content depends on the id of // the selected item in the parentsController content: [], selected: null }); App.daughtersController = Em.ArrayController.create({ // the value of content depends on the id of // the selected item in the parentsController content: [], selected: null }); I would prefer to solve this without the parentsController having to know anything about the other controllers. This should be possible with observers, bindings or even through calculations but I have no clue where to start. Any help would be well appreciated.

  • Calling a function in a JavaScript file with Selenium IDE

    - by user1059903
    So, I'm running these Selenium IDE tests against a site I'm working on. Everything about the tests themselves is running fine, except I would like to do a bit of clean-up once I'm done. In my MVC3 Razor based site, I have a JavaScript file with a function that gets a JsonResult from a Controller of mine. That Controller handles the database clean-up that Selenium IDE otherwise couldn't handle. However, I'm having a hard time finding any sort of documentation on how to do this. I know I can do JavaScript{ myJavascriptGoesHere } as one of the Values for a line in the test, but I can't seem to find a way to tell it to go find my clean-up function. Is it even possible for Selenium IDE to do this sort of thing? If it comes down to it, I can just make a separate View to handle the clean-up, but I'd really like to avoid that if possible. Thanks!

  • cocoa - referencing a method on the parent

    - by Mike
    I had a method on my main view controller named "calculateThis". This method was run, obviously, as int newValue = [self calculateThis:myVariable]; when I run it from inside the view controller. Then I created a static class and I need to run this method from there. How do I reference this method from that class using just relative references, as super, superview, delegate, etc. I cannot use the class name defined on the delegate because this static class is used in several apps of mine.

  • Trouble using xib files in libraries

    - by flohei
    Hi there, I'm having some trouble working with libraries and included xib files. Let me explain my situation first. I've got a project that's running pretty good. Now I need a part of my project as a library for another customer who want's to use some of the functionality in his app. I've created a library with help of that highly recommended article. My customer should be able to initialize a main view controller like this: LibraryMainViewController *lmvc = [[LibraryMainViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"LibraryMainViewController.xib" bundle:foo]; That for sure leads to an error when I try to present that view controller modally. I'm not sure what bundle I have to use here. I tried something like [NSBundle bundleForClass:[SomeClassInTheLibrary class]]; but that didn't solve the problem. I would be glad if someone could tell me how to actually use a xib file in that kind of situation. Thanks –f

  • Grails unit testing and bootstrap

    - by tbruyelle
    I wrote an unit test for a controller. I have a Bootstrap file which alter the metaclass of domain classes by adding a method asPublicMap(). I use this method in the controller to return domain classes as json but only some selected public fields. My unit test failed because of MissingMethodException for asPublicMap(). As I understood, bootstrap classes are not loaded for unit tests, only for integration tests. That's why I got this error. My question is : Is there another place to put metaclass manipulation in order to take them into account during unit tests ?

  • Apache Rewrite Excluding Assets Directory

    - by Midiane
    Hi all I'm writing a mini-MVC application. App architecture: actions/ templates/ site/ app/ styles/ images/ scripts/ So far, I've got a controller working properly, taking in all requests. However, javascript files are not being rendered properly in the browser; I'm getting a 404 Not Found when I try to load the file in the browser. Here is my current Directory config in a vhost file: DirectoryIndex index.php RewriteEngine On RewriteBase /apps/ecatalogue RewriteRule ^scripts/(.*) - [NC,L] <--- Rule not working RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php [NC,L,QSA] I can confirm everything else works; I just need apache to ignore anything in scripts so the file can be loaded normally without being processed by the controller. Your help is appreciated.

  • Codeigniter error logs show a 404 non-existing images directory...need to worry?

    - by user342199
    I've recently started logging my errors through codeIgniter. Since doing so, I have noticed a lot of 404 errors for directories that don't exist. For example: ERROR - 2010-05-15 21:06:26 -- 404 Page Not Found -- someController/images Where someController is, obviously, a controller. The problem is, there are no functions within that controller called images, nor are there any links to a directory by that name. Could this be that someone is trying to hack my site? If so, do I need to worry? If not, why is this happening? Thanks, and forgive the newby-ness.

  • Flex 4 itemRendererFunction problem.

    - by michael
    This is a Flex 4 application: I have created a list as the following: <s:List id="previewList" horizontalCenter="14" verticalCenter="-112" itemRendererFunction="listItemRendererFunction" click="controller.previewListClickHandler()"> </s:List> And I have the itemRendererFunction: public function listItemRendererFunction(item:Object):ClassFactory { var cla:Class = SimpleItemRenderer; if( item.save == true ) { cla = ColorItemRenderer; } else { cla = SimpleItemRenderer; } return new ClassFactory(cla); } The application works fine if the listItemRendererFunction is inside fx:Script. However, when I put the listItemRendererFunction into a class and change to the following: itemRendererFunction="controller.listItemRendererFunction" in the List component. If I run the application, I get the " Error #1009". Please advice how to fix it.

  • Best Design Pattern to Implement while Mapping Actions in MVC

    - by FidEliO
    What could be the best practices of writing the following case: We have a controller which based on what paths users take, take different actions. For example: if user chooses the path /path1/hello it will say hello. If a user chooses /path1/bye?name="Philipp" it will invoke sayGoodBye() and etc. I have written a switch statement inside the controller which is simple, however IMO not efficient. What are the best way to implement this, considering that paths are generally String. private void takeAction() { switch (path[1]) { case "hello": //sayHello(); break; case "bye": //sayBye(); break; case "case3": //Blah(); break; ... } }

  • Pushing View from UITableView Problem

    - by golfromeo
    Basically, what I want is to be able to press a record in a table, and have it push to another view. To do this, I created a nib file and a UIViewController subclass (for the "pushed" view). I set the nib file's "File Owner" to be the controller I created. Then, in the view controller of the table that will push that view, I set the didSelectRowIndexAtPath: method to include the following: SearchTableController *vc = [[SearchTableController alloc] initWithNibName:@"SearchTable" bundle:[NSBundle mainBundle]]; [self.navigationController pushViewController:vc animated:YES]; [vc release]; (where "SearchTableController" is the name of the UIViewController subclass and "SearchTable" is the name of the nib file) However, when I run this code and click on the record, nothing happens- the app doesn't crash, but the view doesn't get pushed. The code is getting run, because it works when I NSLog(), but it doesn't seem to be pushing the view. Thanks for any help in advance.

  • Property Scope (Iphone)

    - by Hank
    Hello All. I am having trouble accessing a declared property and I think I am missing something fundamental about the nature of properties and perhaps view controllers. Here's what I'm doing so far: declaring a property "myPhone" in a root view controller called RootViewController. grabbing a phone number from a modally presented people picker setting "myPhone" to the value from the people picker (from within shouldContinueAfterSelectingPerson of ABPeoplePickerNavigationController) trying to access "myPhone" from another modally presented view controller "myPhone" continues to NSLog to null despite trying every permutation of self.myPhone, super, RootViewController, etc. to try and access the value I set. What am I missing?

  • Ajax response seems to be getting lost

    - by Ringo Blancke
    I'm using the ddslick jquery dropdown plugin in conjunction with my Rails app. In view1, I have $('#challenges_dropdown').ddslick({ <snipped> onSelected: function (data) { $.ajax({ url: "/load_data", type: "GET", data: {"id": data.selectedData.value} }); } }); I.e., I make a call to my controller to load_data. The controller receives this correctly and then at the end, makes a call to render a separate view render "data" This view contains a script snippet that needs to run in order to update some elements of my original view. For some reason, this script snippet is just not running. I'm very confused. When I use a regular link with data-remote="true", then the whole process works perfectly. However, when I make an AJAX call, it fails. What's going on?? Thanks! Ringo

  • Namespace with index action in Rails

    - by yuval
    I have an admin controller located inside /controllers/admin/admin_controller.rb I also have a pages controller located inside /controllers/admin/pages_controller.rb In my routes.rb file, I have the following: map.namespace :admin do |admin| admin.resources :pages end When the user goes to localhost:3000/admin, I'd like the user to see a page with a link to /admin/pages (Pages CRUD) and to / (To go back home). Since I am using a namespace, I cannot have an index action for /admin. How would I get this done and still have my controllers located inside my /controllers/admin folder (rather than using admin as a map.resources component and a has_many association to pages). Please note I am only interested in the show action of admin. Thank you!

  • How do you submit a rails 3 form without refreshing the page?

    - by Anthony H
    I've seen this done using ajax & php, but not rails 3. I've tried using: <%= form_for(:technician, :url => {:controller => 'pos', :action => 'create_ticket'}, :remote => true) do |f| %> but the page still refreshes each time. I'm building a point of sale program, so I don't want the page to refresh. How do I send the form data to the controller to process and store in the database without refreshing?

  • How to set UITableView to Grouped?

    - by 4thSpace
    In an iPhone navigation based app, I want to add a second tableview but have its design available in IB. I've added a new empty XIB and dragged a UITableView onto it. I want to setup the layout through IB. I've created a controller for this tableview and set the File's Owner class in IB to this controller. I linked the tableview to File's Owner as well. I set the tableview to grouped in IB. However, that does not translate at runtime. I still have a plain tableview. In fact, none of the Inspector settings work at runtime. What have I missed?
