• Reducing WPF binding boilerplate with styles - updating the bindings themselves via styling?

  I'm still learning the WPF ropes, so if the following question is trivial or my approach wrong-headed, please do speak up... I'm trying to reduce boilerplate and it sounds like styles are a common way to do so. In particular: I've got a bunch of fairly mundane data-entry fields. The controls for these fields have various properties I'd like to set based on the target of the binding - pretty normal stuff. However, I'd also like to set properties of the binding itself in the style to avoid repetitiveness. For example: <TextBox Style="{StaticResource myStyle}"> <TextBox.Text> <Binding Path="..." Source="..." ValidatesOnDataErrors="True" ValidatesOnExceptions="True" UpdateSourceTrigger="PropertyChanged"> </Binding> </TextBox.Text> </TextBox> Now, is there any way to use styling - or some other technique to write the previous example somewhat like this: <TextBox Style="{StaticResource myStyle}" Text="{Binding Source=... Path=...}/> That is, is there any way to set all bindings that match a particular selection (here, on controls with the myStyle style) to validate data and to use a particular update trigger? Is it possible to template or style bindings themselves? Clearly, the second syntax is much, much shorter and more readable, and I'd love to be able to get rid of other similar boilerplate to keep my UI code comprehensible to myself :-).

• How to create StackedBarSeries with custom tooltip without losing standard colors

  I have a StackedBarSeries in Silverlight 4 charting (latest release). I have created a DataPointStyle called MyDataPointStyle for a custom tooltip. By itself this breaks the standard palette used for the different bars. I've applied a custom palette - as described in David Anson's blog to the chart. However when I have the DataPointStyle set for my SeriesDefinition objects it does not use this palette. I'm not sure what I'm missing - but David specifically says : ... it enables the use of DynamicResource (currently only supported by the WPF platform) to let users customize their DataPointStyle without inadvertently losing the default/custom Palette colors. (Note: A very popular request!) But if I take it out and place it in the Window.Resources or a merged dictionary, it stops working. The problem is the Binding, it doesn't find the ancestor TextBox for some reason. I already tried removing AncestorLevel and using AncestorType={x:Type TextBox} - it doesn't work. Any ideas?

  Hi all, I'm trying to send some data via dojo.xhrPost to an Zend Controller Action. I can see the data being sent in Firebug console. However, when inspecting the post data, the array is empty. I'm not sure if it is possible to send an arbitrary string of data via dojo.xhrPost without using a form. This is probably a very n00b mistake.   I am using a WPF DataGrid where one of the columns has a requirement to show an "Edit" hyperlink if the row is editable - this is indicated by a boolean flag in the backing model for the row. I was able to achieve this using a DataGridTemplateColumn - no problems. However an additional requirement on the entire row is not to show any highlights when the row is selected (this is a blue background by default). I have been able to achieve this on other columns by defining the DataGridCell style with a transparent background, e.g. <DataGridTextColumn Header="Id" Binding="{Binding Path=Id}" HeaderStyle="{StaticResource DataGridColumnHeaderStyle}" CellStyle="{StaticResource DataGridCellStyle}" /> where DataGridCellStyle is defined as follows: <Style x:Key="DataGridCellStyle" TargetType="{x:Type DataGridCell}"> <Setter Property="Background" Value="Transparent" /> ... </Style> However the column in question, a DataGridTemplateColumn, does not offer a "CellStyle" attribute which I can use for turning off selection highlights. So my question is how to set the cell style when using a DataGridTemplateColumn?   Background I am developing an application (with Spring MVC) with its base path as: http://localhost:8080/myapplication/ I have a stylesheet /css/style.css that I am trying to refer with absolute path in a JSP as: <link rel="stylesheet" href="/css/style.css" type="text/css" media="screen, projection"> Problem The stylesheet never loads in the browser. When I follow the stylesheet link through browser's view source feature, the link appears to be: http://localhost:8080/css/style.css Which should have had been: http://localhost:8080/myapplication/css/style.css I used to fix this issue with html:rewrite tag while working with Struts. Is there any equivalent tag/technique in Spring MVC? Thanks for your time.
