  • Are there any libraries for parsing "number expressions" like 1,2-9,33- in Java

    Hi, I don't think it is hard, just tedious to write: Some small free (as in beer) library where I can put in a String like 1,2-9,33- and it can tell me whether a given number matches that expression. Just like most programs have in their print range dialogs. Special functions for matching odd or even numbers only, or matching every number that is 2 mod 5 (or something like that) would be nice, but not needed. The only operation I have to perform on this list is whether the range contains a given (nonnegative) integer value; more operations like max/min value (if they exist) or an iterator would be nice, of course. What would be needed that it does not occupy lots of RAM if anyone enters 1-10000000 but the only number I will ever query is 12345 :-) (To implement it, I would parse a list into several (min/max/value/mod) pairs, like 1,10,0,1 for 1-10 or 11,33,1,2 for 1-33odd, or 12,62,2,10 for 12-62/10 (i. e. 12, 22, 32, ..., 62) and then check each number for all the intervals. Open intervals by using Integer.MaxValue etc. If there are no libs, any ideas to do it better/more efficient?)

  • Architecting ASP.net MVC App to use repositories and services

    Hello, I recently started reading about ASP.net MVC and after getting excited about the concept, i started to migrate all my webform project to MVC but i am having a hard time keeping my controller skinny even after following all the good advices out there (or maybe i just don't get it ... ). The website i deal with has Articles, Videos, Quotes ... and each of these entities have categories, comments, images that can be associated with it. I am using Linq to sql for database operations and for each of these Entities, i have a Repository, and for each repository, i create a service to be used in the controller. so i have - ArticleRepository ArticleCategoryRepository ArticleCommentRepository and the corresponding service ArticleService ArticleCategoryService ... you see the picture. The problem i have is that i have one controller for article,category and comment because i thought that having ArticleController handle all of that might make sense, but now i have to pass all of the services needed to the Controller constructor. So i would like to know what it is that i am doing wrong. Are my services not designed properly? should i create Bigger service to encapsulate smaller services and use them in my controller? or should i have an articleCategory Controller and an articleComment Controller? A page viewed by the user is made of all of that, thee article to be viewed,the comments associated with it, a listing of the categories to witch it applies ... how can i efficiently break down the controller to keep it "skinny" and solve my headache?     Hi all, I have a windows service responsible for running processes on a remote machine with capturing the output, I googled for that and read a lot of articles and threads, I found two ways: 1) using WMI for call the remote process like this example: http://www.codeproject.com/KB/cs/EverythingInWmi02.aspx 2) using the PsExec tool by System.Diagnostic.Process class ever way of these has many problems, the WMI doesn't support returning the output and doesn't support "WaitingToExit" It just call the process and return the PId, and the PsExec couldn't capture the output programmatically by System.Diagnostic.Process in a clear way, I found only workarounds like redirect the output to a file then read the redirected file..etc, I need a real solution please

    My problem is that I can't remember how I can pass the arguments when running a project in netbeans. There is not enough documentation on web if anybody could help it would be highly appreciated. Here is what I know, you can change the run configurations under run Set Project Configuration Default Configuration there there is a entry space where zou can enter the arguments to be passed. I have a file called "AsciiShop.java" which to be runned and I need to pass the arguments stored in a file called "asciishop-A04-PP.i1". When I am using terminal or cmd.exe I can run the program with java AsciiShop < asciishop-A04-PP.i1 and it works perfect. I want to be able to the same on netbeans. I have placed the file in the default working directory which contains src and bin folders. What should I write in the arguments entry field on the project configurations window, so that it works same like java AsciiShop < asciishop-A04-PP.i1

  • Question about factory classes

    Currently I have created a ABCFactory class that has a single method creating ABC objects. Now that I think of it, maybe instead of having a factory, I could just make a static method in my ABC Method. What are the pro's and con's on making this change? Will it not lead to the same? I don't foresee having other classes inherit ABC, but one never knows! Thanks

  • Injecting correct object graph using StructureMap in Queue of different Objects

    I have a queuing service that has to inject a different dependency graph depending on the type of object in the queue. I'm using Structure Map. So, if the object in the queue is TypeA the concrete classes for TypeA are used and if it's TypeB, the concrete classes for TypeB are used. I'd like to avoid code in the queue like: if (typeA) { // setup TypeA graph } else if (typeB) { // setup TypeB graph } Within the graph, I also have a generic classes such as an IReader(ISomething, ISpomethingElse) where IReader is generic but needs to inject the correct ISomething and ISomethingElse for the type. ISomething will also have dependencies and so on. Currently I create a TypeA or TypeB object and inject a generic Processor class using StructureMap into it and then pass a factory manually inject a TypeA or TypeB factory into a method like: Processor.Process(new TypeAFactory) // perhaps I should have an abstract factory... However, because the factory then creates the generic IReader mentioned above, I end up manually injecting all the TypeA or TypeB classes fro there on. I hope enough of this makes sense. I am new to StructureMap and was hoping somebody could point me in the right direction here for a flexible and elegant solution. Thanks

    So, I've run into this sort of thing a few times in C++ where I'd really like to write something like case (a,b,c,d) of (true, true, _, _ ) => expr | (false, true, _, false) => expr | ...     I have a cron script on a shared web host that occasionally gets killed. I'd like to make a loop in bash that tries again if it gets killed, because most of the time it will make it. I'm having trouble with the syntax for storing a boolean value :P #!/bin/bash VAR=0; while [ $VAR ]; do if nice -19 mysqldump -uuser -ppassword -h database.hostname.com --skip-opt --all --complete-insert --add-drop-table database_name > ~/file/system/path/filename.sql; then VAR=1; fi done So the script recovers from a killed process okay, but once it's run properly, the new VAR value doesn't kill the while loop. What am I doing wrong?

    Been searching around for a bit and cannot find a solution for this one. I guess I'm looking for a leaf-directory by name. In this example I'd like to get a list of directories call 'modules' that do NOT have a subdirectory called module. modules/package1/modules/spackage1 modules/package1/modules/spackage2 modules/package1/modules/spackage3/modules modules/package1/modules/spackage3/modules/spackage1 modules/package2/modules/ The list I desire would contain modules/package1/modules/spackage3/modules/ modules/package2/modules/ All the directories named module that do not have a subdirectory called module I started with trying something this with no luck find . -name modules \! -exec sh -c 'find -name modules' \; -exec works on exit code, okay lets pass the count as exit code find . -name modules -exec sh -c 'exit $(find {} -name modules|grep -n ""|tail -n1|cut -d: -f1)' \; This should take the count of each subdirectory called modules and exit with it. No such love.

  • starting a windows executable via batch script, exe not in Program Files

    This is probably batch scripting 101, but I can't find any clear explanation/documentation on why this is happening or if my workaround is actually the solution. So basically any terminology or links to good sources is really appreciated. So I have a program I want to execute via batch script (along with several other programs). It's the only one where the exe is not in a Program Files folder. I can get it to start like this: C:\WeirdProgram\WeirdProgramModule\weirdmodule.exe But I get an error along the lines of: Run-time Error '3024': Could not find file C:\Users\MyUserName\Desktop\ModuleSettings.mdb So it seems that the program is looking for its settings files from the same location that the batch script starts up. Given that I finally got everything to work by doing the following: cd C:\WeirdProgram\WeirdProgramModule\ weirdmodule.exe That works fine, and it's not the end of the world to have to go this route (just one extra line), but I've convinced myself that I'm doing something wrong based on lack of basic understanding. Anybody know or can point me to why it works this way? Oh, and doing the following: start "C:\WeirdProgram\WeirdProgramModule\weirdmodule.exe" doesn't do anything at all. Thanks,

  • Matching a rotated bitmap to a collage image

    Hi, My problem is that I have an image of a detailed street map. On this map, there can be a certain small image of a sign (such as a traffic light icon) rotated at any angle, maybe resized. I have this small image in a bitmap. Is there any algorithm or technique by which I can locate this bitmap if a copy of it exists, rotated and maybe resized, in the large collage image? This is similar to the problem with Augmented Reality and locating the marker image, but mine is only 2D with no perspective distortion.

  • Is it possible to match with decomposed sequences in F#?

    I seem to remember an older version of F# allowing structural decomposition when matching sequences just like lists. Is there a way to use the list syntax while keeping the sequence lazy? I'm hoping to avoid a lot of calls to Seq.head and Seq.skip 1. I'm hoping for something like: let decomposable (xs:seq<'a>) = match xs with | h :: t -> true | _ -> false seq{ 1..100 } |> decomposable But this only handles lists and gives a type error when using sequences. When using List.of_seq, it seems to evaluate all the elements in the sequence, even if it is infinite.

  • How do I grep for entire, possibly wrapped, lines of code?

    When searching code for strings, I constantly run into the problem that I get meaningless, context-less results. For example, if a function call is split across 3 lines, and I search for the name of a parameter, I get the parameter on a line by itself and not the name of the function. For example, in a file containing ... someFunctionCall ("test", MY_CONSTANT, (some *really) - long / expression); grepping for MY_CONSTANT would return a line that looked like this: MY_CONSTANT, Likewise, in a comment block: ///////////////////////////////////////// // FIXMESOON, do..while is the wrong choice here, because // it makes the wrong thing happen ///////////////////////////////////////// Grepping for FIXMESOON gives the very frustrating answer: // FIXMESOON, do..while is the wrong choice here, because When there are thousands of hits, single line results are a little meaningless. What I would like to do is have grep be aware of the start and stop points of source code lines, something as simple as having it consider ";" as the line separator would be a good start. Bonus points if you can make it return the entire comment block if the hit is inside a comment. I know you can't do this with grep alone. I also am aware of the option to have grep return a certain number of lines of content. Any suggestions on how to accomplish under Linux? FYI my preferred languages are C and Perl. I'm sure I could write something, but I know that somebody must have already done this. Thanks!

  • Does deleting 'M'odified line in SVN Commit have an effect

    When running the commandsvn ci you get a text editor that allows you to place a comment, below that is there is the text "--This line, and those below, will be ignored--", then the files modified, added, or deleted. If I were to delete a line such as: M folderA/fileA Would it remove that file from the check in, or is that just an SVN comment that has no other effect?
