  • emacs error: "Symbol's value as variable is void: hostname"

    After I installed emacs this error occurs every time on startup. It prevents me from installing plugins, e.g. auctex via aptitude. I already tried to install a plugin by hand (rails for ruby), but doesn't work. The error doesn't contain the message "hostname", but the hostname of my PC is displayed ("bloodredangel-ubuntu"). I changed my hostname to "bloodredangel", but the error message stays the same. While I changed my hostname I saw that in /etc/hostname were two entries: 127.0.0.1 bloodredangel-ubuntu I already asked this question in an ubuntu forum but they couldn't help. They recognised an misconfigured /etc/hosts file, which I corrected, but from time to time these incorrect configurations get attached by something. I didn't add them by hand, maybe it has something to do with the issue. The misconfigurations looked like this: 127.0.0.1 127.0.0.1 bloodredangel-ubuntu localhost.localdomain localhost 127.0.0.1 127.0.0.1:8080 bloodredangel-ubuntu localhost.localdomain localhost I didn't found a solution on the internet, so I hope I will find help here finally.

  • Multiple nt52 entries in bootmgr

    I have a machine with Windows XP, Server 2003 R2, and Server 2008 R2. Right now, bootmgr has one entry for Server 2008 R2 and one entry for ntldr, which then leads to the ntldr boot.ini menu. Is it possible to add two different nt52 entries on two partitions so that I can access all three OSes from the bootmgr menu? Right now, Server 2008 and XP are in logical drives on an extended partition, but (I assume) I can image them onto basic partitions if necessary.

This operation failed because the QueryInterface call on the COM component for the interface with IID '{3050F520-98B5-11CF-BB82-00AA00BDCE0B}' failed due to the following error: No such interface supported (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80004002 (E_NOINTERFACE)). I know what it says but i dont know which object i can use to access the Texbox. Thanks for any answers.

    How can I install XAMPP to work with different versions of PHP? I use XAMPP because some of the scripts are buggy when run in WAMP. I use WAMP because it supports different versions of PHP. But now I would like to streamline it down to just XAMPP so that my web development would be easier to manage. Is it possible to configure XAMPP to work with more than one version of PHP? Or is it something that I have to look for in an alternative solution? Note: I'm running on Windows 7.

  • Running Magento for multiple clients - single Installaton vs. multiple installations

    Hi There I am looking to set-up a Magento (Community Edition) installation for multiple clients and have researched the matter for a few days now. I can see that the Enterprise Edition has what I need in it, but surprisingly I am not willing to shell out the $12,000 odd yearly subscription. It seems there are a few options available to be but I am worried about the performance I will get out of the various options. Option 1) Single install using AITOC advanced permissions module So this is really what I am after; one installation so that I can update my core files all at the same time and also manage all my store users from one place. The problems here are that I don't know anything about the reliability of this extra product and that I have to pay a bit extra. I am also worried that if I have 10 stores running off this one installation it might all slow down so much and keel over as I have heard allot about Magento's slowness. Module Link: http://www.aitoc.com/en/magentomods_advanced_permissions.html Option 2) Multiple installations of Magento on one server for each shop So here I have 10 Magento installations on one server all running happily away not using any extra money, but I now have 10 separate stores to update and maintain which could be annoying. Also I haven't been able to find a whole lot of other people using this method and when I have they are usually asking how to stop their servers from dying. So this route seems like it could be even worse on my server as I will have more going on on my server but if my server could take it each Magento installation would be simpler and less likely to slow down due to each one having to run 10 shops on its own? Option 3) Use lots of servers and lots of Magento installations I just so do not want to do this. Option 4) Buy Magento Enterprise I do not have the money to do this.   • jList in Scrollpane, seeking and displaying value of selectedIndex

    I have a JList inside a Scrollpane. If you click on the list and move the arrow keys up and down it works like you expect, you can move your selection index and display around just fine. Now, what I want to do is basically have a text box and i'm typing in the text box like "comic" and want it to seek to the index of that value. This WORKS just fine. Where the problem is when the value of the list box is below, or above the viewable area. When it is, the selected index seeks, but does not change the position of the scrollable region. However, if I press the up or down arrows and requestFocus() to the list, and move up and down it seeks to the right viewable area. What am I missing to make this happen WITHOUT changing focus. I want to be able to just type in the list all I want and have it show me what is selected. I feel i'm missing something obvious here.

    I am trying to get munin to notify me via email. I have configured munin and it reports critical and warning values but no alerts are being sent neither is any script being called. Can you please help me out with this?   • How to set up multiple DNS servers on an intranet

    We have an Active Directory network, with a mixture of Windows DNS, linux BIND servers, and want to use OpenDNS as our external DNS provider. I am wondering What is the best way to set up these servers (regarding forwarders, recursion, etc.)? Active Directory is our main internal DNS for our domain, and has 3 redundant servers. DHCP and all our servers use these as their DNS servers. Then we have a legacy AD server from an old network that is still authoritative for a bunch of domains. Finally, we have a couple of Linux Bind servers that are authoritative for a bunch of websites we host. Should our main AD servers point to our legacy AD server, which points to one of our BIND servers, which points to the other BIND server, which finally points out to openDNS? Or should our main AD servers point to all of these directly? - or is there a better option? What happens if a domain is listed in 2 places? Does DNS process the forwarders in order? What about root servers - if I want to use OpenDNS for "everything else", do I just list them as the last forwarders, and delete the root servers from all my DNS servers? How does recursion work - in this scenario, should I be using recursion or not?

  • Change NSNumber value by allocating new NSNumber?

    I understand that NSNumber is immutable, but I still have the need to change it in my app. I use it because it's an object, and therefore usable with @property (if I could, I would use float or CGFloat in a heartbeat, but sadly, I can't). Is there any way to just overwrite the old NSNumber instance? I'm trying this: NSNumber *zero = [[NSNumber alloc] initWithFloat:0.0]; myNSNumber = zero but this doesn't change the value. This is a simplified version of my code, as I'm changing the root view controller's parameter (I know, not MVC-friendly). Still, the changing of the value should be the same assignment, right? Should I release myNSNumber first? What should I set the @property at for myNSNumber? Thanks!

    I have an array of strings that are comma separated such as: Steve Jobs,12,CA Fake Name,21,CA Test Name,22,CA Bill Gates,44,WA Bill Nye,21,OR I have those values in an NSScanner object so that I can loop through the values and get each comma seperated value using objectAtIndex. So, what I would like to do, is group the array items into new arrays, based on a value, in this case, State. So, from those, I need to loop through, checking which state they are in, and push those into a new array, one array per state. CA Array: Steve Jobs,12,CA Fake Name,21,CA Test Name,22,CA WA Array: Bill Gates,44,WA OR Array: Bill Nye,21,OR So in the end, I would have 3 new arrays, one for each state. Also, if there were additional states used in the first array, those should have new arrays created also. Any help would be appreciated!

My problem is: [email protected] cant access his mailbox at joe@domainb via OWA even though full access and sendas has been granted on domainb's mailbox to domaina's account. I keep receiving the error: Access is denied. The Active Directory resource couldn't be accessed.     Hello I use Privoxy on my XP host to filter/rewrite web pages, but it's slower because all connections go through Privoxy's single port. According to this post on StackOverflow, by default, browsers support more than one simultaneous connection, which would explain why going through Privoxy is slower. Does someone know of a similar application that could handle more than one connection? Thank you.

Does it make sense to add specific SPF records for each of the mail servers? Any other problems with the zone file? I want to confirm these things before making changes to my zone file. The file has SPF configured basically the same now, just without google.com and somehost, but I want to make sure I won't break things when I change it.

NOTE: If I instead use ActionLink to render a different action like "Default," the ActionLink renders correctly: <a href="/Admin/Default">admin</a> The fact that the "Default" action renders correctly leads me to believe the problem has to do with the default value specified for the route. Is there anyway to force ActionLink to render the "Index" action as well?

After the user change "Value 1" or "Value 2" I would like to call a Controller and put the result (some HTML snippet) in the div marked as "Result of...". I have some vague notions of JQuery. I know how to bind to the onchange event of the Select element, and call the $.ajax() function, for example. But I wonder if this can be achieved in a more efficient way in ASP.NET MVC2.

    I'm going to be moving about 7-10 websites (5-8 with Databases - MySQL) onto our new Virtual Private Server. I'm curious what the best way to host many sites on a single server is though. Do I create a directory for each site immediately within my root directory, and then point the domain names for each site to http://123.123.123.123/siteDirectory - or is there a more appropriate way to do this? I'm very interested in maintining control over how many concurent connections each site can have at any given time - would I be able to do that on the directory-level, or am I required to limit the concurrent-connections to the VPS itself?

    Is it possible to set an UISlider as first responder and set its current value to the location of the current touch programatically? The way my app is set up I have a UIView container that takes up the whole screen. Inside the container I have another UIView offscreen at the bottom edge (I'll call this bottomBar). Inside the bottomBar there is a UISlider element. Right now, when the user swipes along the bottom edge of the screen the bottomBar the slider it contains slide up. What I am trying to achieve is to activate the UISlider, and set the position of the slider (the value) to the position of the users touch. Is this possible? Could someone please point me in the right direction?

Is there any way I can accomplish automatic text file splitting? My eventual, actual input entry.txt actually contains 200,001 entries. Doing the text split in either Windows or Linux would be great. I do not have access to a Mac machine. Thanks!
