• Glassfish V3 won't start

  Hi everybody, I installed NetBeans 6.8 and tried to run the GlasshFish V3 server. I'm working under Windows Vista 32 Bits. First, it won't run. • VS2010 profiler/leak detection

  Anyone know of a profiler and leak detector that will work with VS2010 code? Preferably one that runs on Win7. I've searched here and in google. I've found one leak detector that works (Memory Validator) but I'm not too impressed. For one thing it shows a bunch of menu leaks and stuff which I'm fairly confident are not real. I also tried GlowCode but it's JUST a profiler and refuses to install on win7. I used to use AQtime. It had everything I needed, memory/resource leak detection, profiling various things, static analysis, etc. Unfortunately it gives bogus results now. My main immediate issue is that VS2010 is saying there are leaks in a program that had none in VS2005. I'm almost certain it's false positives but I can't seem to find a good tool to verify this. Memory Validator doesn't show the same ones and the reporting of leaks from VS doesn't seem rational.

• How to get IzPack tocheck for an existing version of the software?

  Hi, I have an application for which we use IzPack to create the installer. The installer is working fine in its current state, however, I need to add functionality that enables it to check whether an existing version of the software has been installed. I understand IzPack supports this out of the box using its CheckedHelloPanel, unfortunately that only works for Windows, as it appears to depend on the windows registry. Is there a way to configure IzPack such that it is able to detect existing installations? I need to be able to detect whether there is one and merely display a message notifying the user... Bonus points for how to give the user the option to trigger the uninstaller of the existing installation. Assume that the software will only be installed using the new installer IzPack only: please do not suggest alternatives, as we cannot change that now If you suggest using <validator>, please include a code sample of the validator class, because I have considered this, but don't know where to start

• jQuery Validation plugin: checkbox groups and error message issues

  I've put together a form using the jQuery Validation plugin, and all inputs are fine with working validation and error messages – except for checkboxes. I have two checkbox problems. The first is that the Validation plugin API doesn't seem to handle checkboxes in grouped contexts (I'm using fieldsets for grouping). Found several approaches to the issue here, including reference to a post by Rebecca Murphey for a more general case using a custom method and class. Adapting that to this situation: jQuery.validator.addMethod('required_group', function(val, el) { var fieldParent = $(el).closest('fieldset'); return fieldParent.find('.required_group:checked').length; }); jQuery.validator.addClassRules('required_group', { 'required_group': true }); jQuery.validator.messages.required_group = 'Please check at least one box.'; This sort of works, but produces error messages on every checkbox, and only removes them as each box is clicked. This is not an acceptable situation for the user, who can only get rid of them by clicking false positives. Ideally, I guess what's needed is something to prevent or eliminate extra messages before they are displayed and use errorPlacement to display a single error message in the parent fieldset, that would then be removed with a click on any checkbox. Less ideally, maybe they would all display but an event handler could turn off the full set of redundant messages with a click, which is what this approach offered by tvanfosson appears to do. (Another customized approach here, but I couldn't get it to work.) I guess I should also note this form requires the checkboxes to have different names. My second problem is that one of the fieldsets with checkboxes in the form also contains a nested fieldset of checkboxes under one of the outer checkboxes. So in addition to the first-level one-box-checked requirement, if the particular checkbox containing the second-level checkboxes is checked, then at least one of the second-level boxes must be checked. Not sure about the right approach; I'm guessing what needs to happen (following the above scheme) is that the trigger checkbox would use toggleClass to add/remove 'required_group' class to all the checkboxes in the subfield, which would then (hopefully) behave the same as the parent field: $("#triggerCheckbox").click(function () { $(this).find(":checkbox").toggleClass("required_group"); }); Any suggestions or ideas welcome. I'm well beyond my limited jQuery skills on this one and would be happy to hear that I missed simple, elegant and/or obvious ways to do this!

  I'm currently trying to wrap my head around regex, I have a validation snippet that tests an input box against a regex-expression: $.validator.addMethod("customerName", function(value, element){ return (/^[a-zA-Z]*$/).test(value); }, "Some text"); That works well, but when I try to add a space and some special danish characters, it doesn't filter the danish characters, only the space. $.validator.addMethod("customerName", function(value, element){ return (/^[a-zA-Z æøåÆØÅ]*$/).test(value); }, "Some text"); Any ideas to what could be wrong?

  Hey guys, I'm not trying to do anything malicious here, I just need to do some homework. I'm a fairly new programmer, I'm using python 3.0, and I having difficulty using recursion for problem-solving. I've been stuck on this question for quite a while. Here's the assignment: Write a recursive method spam(url, n) that takes a url of a web page as input and a non-negative integer n, collects all the email address contained in the web page and adds them to a global dictionary variable spam_dict, and then recursively calls itself on every http hyperlink contained in the web page. You will use a dictionary so only one copy of every email address is save; your dictionary will store (key,value) pairs (email, email). The recursive call should use the parameter n-1 instead of n. If n = 0, you should collect the email addresses but no recursive calls should be made. The parameter n is used to limit the recursion to at most depth n. You will need to use the solutions of the two above problems; you method spam() will call the methods links2() and emails() and possibly other functions as well. Notes: 1. running spam() directly will produce no output on the screen; to find your spam_dict, you will need to read the value of spam_dict, and you will also need to reset it to the empty dictionary before every run of spam. 2. Recall how global variables are used. Usage: spam_dict = {} spam('http://reed.cs.depaul.edu/lperkovic/csc242/test1.html',0) spam_dict.keys() dict_keys([]) spam_dict = {} spam('http://reed.cs.depaul.edu/lperkovic/csc242/test1.html',1) spam_dict.keys() dict_keys(['[email protected]', '[email protected]']) So far, I've written a function that traverses web pages and puts all the links in a nice little list, and what I wanted to do was call that functions. And why would I use recursion on a dictionary? And how?   I am using a telerik radgrid so there are around 5 columns each column edittemplate contains a control along with a required field validator and also a property called AllowMultiRowEdit is set to true so i am able to multiple rows in edit mode. If any of the values are cleared the for multiple rows I want only those to be validated on update of that particular row. So i implemented the Grids item data bound event find each and every validator along with the update button and set a unique validation group. The above implementation most times but fails at some time. Is there any other way of going about this ?

[because TAB2 text boxes are still empty] & When I am filling all the textboxes [Both Tab1 & Tab2], button is firing correctly. How to avoid this ?? I mean user has to fill details for the TAB1 & can submit the details. At that Time I don't want TAB2 validations to work. Please help & kindly let me know if anything else is required.

• Ampersand in link description text?

  I am validating my site using validator.w3.org and have an issue where there is a & in my link description text. ie this is taken from the source <a class='tag' href='/php/iphone software.php?function=developer&amp;dev=witch%26wizards+inc.&amp;store=143441'>witch&wizards inc.</a> Which gives me this error in the validator Line 188, Column 540: cannot generate system identifier for general entity "wizards" …6wizards+inc.&store=143441'witch&wizards inc. If I urlencode the description then the validation passes, but the user then sees the text displayed urlencoded, ie Developer witch%26wizards+inc. However I believe it's much more user friendly if this was displayed unencoded, ie Developer witch&wizards inc. Is there a way to pass validation but still have user friendly text displayed? • jQuery Validation Plugin - Enable 'Eager' Validation only after and Invalid Submit

  By default, if a user enters a value in a field, the 'eager' validation kicks in. Is there any way to disable 'eager' validation before submit and then enable it after an invalid submit has happened? I've used $.validator.setDefaults() to initially set the onkeyup and onfocusout properties to false. In the invalidHandler method I rerun the $.validator.setDefaults(), setting onkeyup and onfocusout properties to true. No luck with this approach. Basically, I only want the 'eager' validation to take place after the user tries to submit an invalid form. Thanks for any help.

I tried like this: validateRequired($('#name')); but it doesn't work. How can I do this?

  Spring 3.0.2, Hibernate 3.5.0, Hibernate-Validator 4.0.2.GA I am trying to inject Spring dependencies into a ConstraintValidator using: @PersistenceContext private EntityManager entityManager; I have configured the application context with: <bean id="validator" class="org.springframework.validation.beanvalidation.LocalValidatorFactoryBean"/> Which, according to the Spring documentation, should allow “custom ConstraintValidators to benefit from dependency injection like any other Spring bean” Within the debugger I can see Spring calling getBean to create the ConstraintValidator. Later when flush triggers the preInsert, a different ConstraintValidator is created and called. The problem is the EntityManager is null within this new ConstraintValidator. I’ve tried injecting other dependencies within the ConstraintValidator and these are always null. Does anyone know if it is possible to inject dependencies into a ConstraintValidator?

• NoClassDefFoundError points to the wrong class.

  I'm validating the installation of a program that consists of a few separate modules. They are not co-dependent. I have apple.jar and orange.jar, they are placed in the same folder and were developed in the same project, but run independent of each other. Running apple.jar goes fine, but orange.jar gives me a NoClassDefFoundError pointing to apple.jar. /usr/java/jre1.6.0_14/bin/java -jar validator.jar Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: orange/client/Apple Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: orange.client.Apple at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(Unknown Source) at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method) at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(Unknown Source) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source) at sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClassInternal(Unknown Source) Could not find the main class: validator/client/StormDataXMLGenerator.   I'm setting up a HTML5 webpage and want to include RDFa. I try checking the syntax with the w3 validator, and check the extracted RDF using the w3 RDFa distiller. When I declare namespaces using xmlns:<ns>="<uri>" the validator complains that the attribute is not allowed there, and the specs say that xmlns is deprecated, but if I try the other suggested prefix="<ns> <uri>" the distiller doesn't discover the RDFa embedded on my page. Which way should I stick to?

• My form submit button is not showing correctly

• using LoadControl with object initializer to create properties

  In the past I've used UserControls to create email templates which I can fill properties on and then use LoadControl and then RenderControl to get the html for which to use for the body text of my email. This was within asp.net webforms. I'm in the throws of building an mvc website and wanted to do something similar. I've actually considered putting this functionality in a seperate class library and am looking into how I can do this so that in my web layer I can just call EmailTemplate.SubscriptionEmail() which will then generate the html from my template with properties in relevant places (obviously there needs to be parameters for email address etc in there). I wanted to create a single Render control method for which I can pass a string to the path of the UserControl which is my template. So SubscribeEmail may require FirstName and EmailAddress where another email template UserControl (lets call it DummyEmail) would require FirstName, EmailAddress and DateOfBirth. The method above only appears to carry one parameter for propertyName and propertyValue. I considered an array of strings that I could put the varying properties into but then I thought it'd be cool to have an object intialiser so I could call the method like this: RenderUserControl("EmailTemplates/SubscribeEmail.ascs", new object() { Firstname="Lloyd", Email="[email protected]" }) Does that make sense? I was just wondering if this is at all possible in the first place and how I'd implement it? I'm not sure if it would be possible to map the properties set on 'object' to properties on the loaded user control and if it is possible where to start in doing this?   I need your help to understand this better. This is my case. I have a custom validator for each of my input controls in the form. So when there is any validation error,I add a corresponding FacesMessage in the validate method. My understanding was that when there is any validation error - or when there are any FacesMessages added in the validate method of the Custom Validator, it would skip the INVOKE APPLICATION phase and would directly call the RENDER RESPONSE PHASE - showing the FacesMessage that was added in the PROCESS VALIDATION Phase - Is this correct? The problem I'm facing is - I add a FacesMessage in the PROCESS VALIDATION Phase - because of a validation error - and I add a confirmation message for the action that was taken by the user in the INVOKE APPLICATION PHASE - Now both are shown in the page in the RENDER RESPONSE Phase ? - If my understanding is correct in the above question - is it the best practice to conditionally add a confirmation FacesMessage after confirming that there are no FacesMessages in the currect FacesContext ? Appreciate your help.

I am trying to figure out what to do with the "Phone" field – I want it to output to the same place that "Message" does, so that when the email is received it will output both the message and the phone number to the body of the email.   I would like to be able to validate an object in different contexts using DataAnnotations in .NET 4. For example: If I have a class with these annotated properties [Required] public string Name { get; set; } [Required] public string PhoneNumber { get; set; } [Required] public string Address { get; set; } I would like to be able to do something like bool namePhoneValid = Validator.TryValidateObject(entity, contextNamePhone, results1); bool allValid = Validator.TryValidateObject(entity, contextAll, results2); where contextNamePhone only validates Name and Phone, and contextAll validates all properties (Name, Phone and Address in this case). Is this possible? How should the validation context be constructed? Are there other/smarter ways to do this?
