  • redirect wont work in Chrome

    I have a form on my website. When this form is filled out, it is then validated by a javascript validation function. At the bottom of this function I have this piece of code: window.location="../index.html"; This wont work on Chrome, but does work in Firefox. My Q is, how can I make this simple redirect work on all (most) browsers? Thanks

  • Getting URL of executing JavaScript file (IE6-7 problem mostly)...

    Hey all, I've been trying to throw together a generic function that retrieves the absolute URL of an executing JavaScript file on a web page: http://gist.github.com/433486 It works great in almost all the browsers I've tested (Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera v10 at least, and IE 8). It seems to fail, however, in IE 6 and 7. The callback function gets executed, but the retrieved name is simple the URL to the main HTML page, not the JavaScript file. So all I'm really asking is if there's some other way of getting the URL of the current JavaScript file (which could be IE 6 and 7 specific)? Thanks in advance!

When the button is clicked, on: on Chrome (and Safari of course) it just doesn't select anything, instead creates some ghostly empty option on Firefox and Opera, it works the way I expect and want it to work, resets the element value on Explorer, it does nothing So, which one is expected behaviour?     Guys I have a couple of questions: Is there a preformance difference in Javascript between a switch statement and an if...else if....else? If so why? Is the behavior of switch and if...else if...else different across browsers? (FireFox, IE, Chrome, Opera, Safari) The reason for asking this question is it seems that I get better preformance on a switch statement with approx 100 cases in Firefox. But in IE it get better preformance with 100 if...else if...else.

  • Which is the best free ide/plugin for struts2?

    Hello friends, I have just learnt struts 2 and now I have taken up a full fledged project in it. I learnt the basics of struts 2 in Netbeans with it's struts2 plugin. But I am not at all happy with it, as it is very basic and I end up doing most of the work. It is obviously better than plain-vanilla text editor, but still not at all near to what netbeans provides for springs and hibernate. I know because netbeans provides native support for springs and hibernate, it is meant to be better. I don't mind changing my IDE if i get better support for struts2! So my questions are Please list all the free IDEs where native support for struts2 is provided. And if possible please compare them. Please list all the plugins that are available for eclipse for struts2 development. I have heard there are better plugins in eclipse. Also, if there are better plugins in any other IDE (other than netbeans or eclipse of course), please list them giving links. Please give me some tips which I'll need before starting a full blown project in Struts2. I haven't worked on any project on Struts2.     I wrote a code to find the position in google search result for a search keyword. I also did the same with the browser. Both the results are different. Let me explain in detail here. I have a website and i wanted to know on which page number my domain appears for a search string. Like when i search for 'code snippets' i wanted to find in google search on which page number a certain domain appears. I wrote a php code to search page by page starting from page 1 to page n. I did the same task using a browser. The script returned page 4 and when browsed i can see the domain appearing in second page. here is the search string i use in my code. /search?hl=en&output=search&sclient=psy-ab&q=code+snippets&start=0&btnG= and for each request i change the start=0 to start=1, start=2, etc... and in the response i will check whether my domain appears in it. any idea for this different in search results?

    The other day, I wrote about how to download and install Java ME SDK plugin for NetBeans. If you are using NetBeans 7.2.1 or later, you don't have to go through the whole process at all. It's now a matter of a few clicks, because all the plugins are now all in NetBeans update server. Here is a new way to install and integrate Java ME SDK plugins for NetBeans. 1. On NetBeans, go to "Tools"- "Plugins". 2. Click on "Available Plugins" tab. Locate "Java ME SDK Tools". 3. Check the tools you want to install, and click "Install" button at the bottom left corner. 4. NetBeans will restart, and that's it! Remember that different Java ME SDK requires different version of Plugins. If you are using Java ME SDK 3.0.5 or earlier, you must install Java ME SDK Tool version 2.0 (works with NetBeans 7.1.2 or earlier) If you are using Java ME SDK 3.2 or later, you must install Java ME SDK Tool version 3.0 (works with NetBeans 7.2 or later)

  • Calling a function that resides in the main page from a plugin?

    I want to call a function from within plugin, but the function is on the main page and not the plugin's .js file. EDIT I have jQuery parsing a very large XML file and building, subsequently, a large list (1.1 MB HTML file when dynamic content is copied, pasted, then saved) that has expand/collapse functionality through a plugin. The overall performance on IE is super slow and doggy, assuming since the page/DOM is so big. I am currently trying to save the collapsed content in the event.data when it is collapsed and remove it from the DOM, then bring it back when it is told to expand... the issue that I am having is that when I bring the content back, obviously the "click" and "hover" events are gone. I'm trying to re-assign them, currently doing so inside the plugin after the plugin expands the content. The issue then though is that is says the function that I declare within the .click() is not defined. As I was reviewing the code in this post this morning after being away over the weekend, I found where I had err'd. This: $(event.data.target + 'a.addButton').click(addResourceToList); Should be this (notice the space before a.addbutton): $(event.data.target + ' a.addButton').click(addResourceToList); Same issue with the "li.resource". So it was never pointing to the right elements... Thank you, Rene, for your help!!

  • Can Spotlight or Media Browser index metadata contained in iPhoto or Aperture in Mac OS X?

    It seems silly to go to all the trouble to assign "Face" data to thousands of photos, but not make it possible to use that data to locate them outside of that application. Is there any way to get Spotlight or Media Browser in OSX (Snow Leopard) to index and recognize metadata (Faces, Places, etc.) contained in iPhoto or Aperture? I know that that metadata is stored in the "library" database for Aperture/iphoto, rather than on the actual files (which is too bad). And I can even potentially see why it might create challenges for spotlight to use it, since spotlight is presumably a file index system, not a media organizer, but surely the media browser used across the other OSX apps is intended to use it? The media browser's whole purpose seems to be to let you easily locate and reference the items you organize in one of the ilife apps (iphoto or Aperture, in this case) from the others (say, imovie, or Mail). It's particularly vexing since the photo app on the iphone sorts by faces by default. Additionally, the mac-based media browser does access smart albums and folders, so you could establish a workaround by creating a smart album for each "face" or place, or tag, and access them that way, but it seems like there must be an easier way. Am I missing something?

  • How to have multiple instances of jQuery plugin on single page?

    I'm writing a simple jQuery plugin, but I'm having trouble being able to use multiple instances on a page. For instance, here is a sample plugin to illustrate my point: (function($) { $.fn.samplePlugin = function(options) { if (typeof foo != 'undefined') { alert('Already defined!'); } else { var foo = 'bar'; } }; })(jQuery); And then if I do this: $(document).ready(function(){ $('#myDiv').samplePlugin({}); // does nothing $('#myDiv2').samplePlugion({}); // alerts "Already defined!" }); This is obviously an over-simplified example to get across the point. So my question is, how do I have two separate instances of the plugin? I'd like to be able to use it across multiple instances on the same page. I'm guessing that part of the problem might be with defining the variables in a global scope. How can I define them unique to that instance of the plugin then? Thank you for your guidance!
